AKA, cycling duals! Hopefully they don't neglect the enemy half of the cycle this time around.

Curious why they gave these the basic land type. Either way, cycle lands are super powerful so the extra power is welcome. Super sweet. Also hoping the enemy cycle is in the next set. Will suck if it isn't since it will mean waiting for the next cycle block to have a chance at having them unlike the Battle lands which don't use an special mechanic.

if they didn't give them basic land types these would be the most disappointing cycle of rare lands ever. etb tap duals with cycling is uncommon at best, but give them types and WHAM that's a rare land cycle.

my two-color commander decks are happy but the three color ones are antsy, already missing the enemy battles. i wouldn't want to stuff them with more ally duals without some enemy counterparts first

I think is basic ETB tapped lands are uncommon and mono colored ones would be uncommon now, these at rare even without the land types would be rare. I think they are decently comparable to the Scry Lands in power without the land type. I also saw them site the Shadows duels as a reason for these to have the land type which makes sense. They were likely made when the Battle lands were leaving with Amonkhet.

Karador is SUPER happy about this. And I think any deck running Sun Titan can at least consider them. And yea, I'm weird in that I like to add in whole cycles if possible so getting a 3rd ally one is annoying. Not to mention over the last 4 blocks we've had 3 new ally duels and 1 finished enemy duels. Enemy lands forever behind.

I might be misunderstanding what you mean by calling these "basic" lands.

Aren't basic lands literally called "Basic Land - X" (Plain, Mountain, Swamp, Island, Wastes, Forest), and this distinction is how they're able to be grabbed or searched by stuff like Evolving Wilds, whereas other lands say "Land - X"?

They aren't basic so they miss out on synergy that cares about the 5, but they still have the land type meaning they pick up on those synergies which 95% of lands don't get. This is most notable with fetch lands being able to get these (though they are much worse than the shock and battle lands as fetch targets).
