Sooo... Despite Rekindling being hit awhile back, I decided to invest some time with a forgotten, yet sometimes formidable archetype: Lavals. I even decided to approach it from a non-Quasar build perspective to try and make use of some of their own Synchroes, and even some of their "bad" cards. Without further ado, here is a Decklist and some notes about certain under the radar cards I find helpful in the archetype.

[spoiler=Load Out Notes]

Monsters:

* Laval Cannon: This card is probably the best Main Deck Laval considering it gives you your Synchro/ Xyz plays without minusing, or even allows you to Special Summon 1 of your banished boss/ Synchro monsters. A lot of cards in this Deck compliments his usage (e.g. Gold Sarcophagus, Fairy Tail Snow, Laval Lakeside Lady, Burgeoning Whirlwind, etc.)

** Laval Blaster: This cards heavy milling effect helps you either hopefully dumping Fairy Tail Snow into the Grave, offer fuel for Fairy Tail Snow, and/ or potentially expands plays for some of your Lavals (e.g. Laval Coatl, Laval Handmaiden

***Laval Lakeside Lady: This card not only helps you pop Set monsters, and Spells/Traps, but it also opens up your Laval Cannon plays.

**** Laval Volcano Handmaiden: If you haven't played Lavals before, this card can not only dump other Lavals, but it can dump itself, and proceed to thin out your Deck. You are normally going to want to dump this along with another Laval with Molten Conduction Field. Additionally as some of the Lavals, it fuels up Fairy Tail -Snow usage.

***** Laval Coatl: This guy may suck at times, but his effect is pretty easy to keep live from time to time considering how good Molten Conduction Field/ Laval Blaster/ That Grass Looks Greener are.

Spells:

* Warrior Returning Alive: This card can be real helpful at times considering you have a good chance of milling some of the Warrior-Type Lavals (e.g. Laval Cannon, Laval Blaster)

Traps:

* Molten Whirlwind Wall: While this card isn't exactly the best on paper, it can sometimes help your

Lavals get a pretty big boost after That Grass Looks Greener.

** Burgeoning Whirlflame: This card is great at recycling itself if you manage to mill a lot of Lavals.

Also, as mentioned before it, it frees up your Laval Cannon plays.

Extra Deck:

* Lavalval Dragun: This card is probably my most favorite of the Laval Synchros solely because

it not only searches, but it pitches Laval Graveyard triggering cards (e.g. Laval Phlogis, Laval Lakeside Lady, Laval Volcano Handmaiden).

** Lavalval Dragon: This card is freaking amazing after you mill a bunch of Lavals. Since it's effect isn't once per turn, it can clean boards, and cycle back your Laval Cannons.

[spoiler=Overall Experiences]

I have had moderate success with the Deck, but it is by no means competitive, if you don't get Snow or Lakeside Ladies into your Graveyard chances are you will really be susceptible to stun/control decks (which if you think about it is where meta has been heading towards for awhile now). A lot of the times I find myself either wanting to mill with Minerva, or making Lavalval Dragon as starting plays. So yeah it isn't exactly the most impressive Deck even if you do manage to mill a lot with That Grass Looks Greener. That isn't to say Lavals can't make cool plays though: Rekindling can be devastating and as I've said many times before, Laval Cannon really makes up for some fun plays.

I think you can get away with dropping judgment lord and maybe a couple of non-200 DEF Laval and run 3 left arm offerings. Being able to search mowing/rekindling seems like it would be absolutely enormous for the deck.

I would normally do that, but since I am not going for a straight up Quasar build... And using Lavals for the sake of Lavals I kind of want to avoid that since Lavals barely hold off on their own after getting rid of their hand with Left Arm. I have kind of used this "bad" deck as more of a template to make good builds in the future after exploring what each Laval does for the archetype itself (no matter how shitty they seem). I managed to make another build I'll show later that is a much better variant.

Okay. After testing this, your best bet is opening with That Grass Looks Greener (which I guess the Deck's built around). Otherwise, you're not going to advance much. Bewildering Wind was fun though; messing up your opponent's Xyz plays. However, if there's one card I say you really don't need, it's Burgeoning Whirlflame. Even with the banish cost to fuel Laval Cannon, it's not worth it. You could switch it out for something, like another Resonator Call.
