Hallohallo
スマイル・ユニバース Smile UniverseQuick-Play Spell CardDuring the turn you activate this card, you cannot Normal or Special Summon monsters, except with this card’s effect, also your monsters cannot attack.(1) Special Summon as many face-up Pendulum Monsters from your Extra Deck as possible, but their effects are negated, then, your opponent gains LP equal to the combined original ATK of those Special Summoned monsters. Tinkerer
This card might've been SOOOO much nicer. But, y'know, links. As it is now, it is little more than a quicker Pendulum Reborn, but with less flexibility, unsearchability, and conditions.
Atypical-Abbie
Even if this was released before, the restrictions and amount of LP your opponent gains for this to actually be worth it seems a bit much, I get it, you want a powerful Summoning card but to still hold back, but what I wanted was to be able to Pendulum Summon from my hand, make a Link Monster, then Special Summon those monsters back again and make some ED monsters with them, but this doesn't really allow that, you still gotta wait for it and then there's the other restrictions too. Blake
Not really sure why it doesn't ignore EMZ/go to MMZ regardless of links. It's soul charge for a weaker sub-type of cards, so really, why not buff it? =x

Was the EMZ a hasty last minute decision by Konami, or was COTD supposed to actually be one set later, after Arc V had fully wrapped up? Or maybe something else? vla1ne
You're an evil evil man.not evil, just practical. pendulum burn is a terrible idea, but considering how well many pendulum cards search each other, without links, this could have easily become a janky OTK card. notcleverusername
Even without Links this would've been terrible RORLike a Scapegoat that requires setup and makes you lose in Time
Delibirb
Links are IN Code of the Duelist, right? What is with all these cards that forget Links are a thing now?
evilfusion
You know, this is one of the reasons I HATE the post-Link rules and how it negatively impacts everything that came before it. Cards that were clearly designed to take advantage of the Pendulum SS from Extra Deck mechanic are practically garbage, and many were mediocre before, and almost every Fusion/Synchro/Xyz heavy deck is really toned down. You're right. I'm sure no link monsters will ever be hit, nor will more powerful links be released. Konami is not only changing their game, but their business practices too! Blake
This is a bad thing why? Do you prefer $et rotation with those decks ending up on the banlist ever 3 months? SKSD wouldn't have been a best deck, anyway, and this would have suffered from scapegoat syndrome in its current state It's not about best decks, but just how many things get dunked. Like meme decks that legitimately can Pendulum, Xyz, Synchro, and Fusion Summon in a turn, if not ritual as well. The rules kill a lot of weaker decks more so than strong ones. Zoo still exists under Links, banlist aside. It even enables the funk out of them. Stronger decks tend to suffer less by the rules. i was excited for links, but this first set and SD have only served to sour my opinion of the changes. VCR_CAT
i was excited for links, but this first set and SD have only served to sour my opinion of the changes. I honestly agree on this sentiment. Link rules now just feel like it too harshly hits too many things that weren't even problems, while the best decks just... remain the best decks. Nothing really changes for the meta game, just that now they play a little more differently. The sucky part is that the problem isn't even a banlist dealeo, it's just like "Well, now you gotta wait a few years and hope the next set of rule changes shines more nicely on the lil' guys". If you look at ghost ash, it takes a sheet on slower decks, that pot of avarice Dolls needed to resolve, doesn't. That zenmaiety doesn't summon. AHL fizzles. But something like True-Draco or Zoos have 3-4 different searches and are barely affected I don't think this is a new trend though
玄魔の王
^The difference here is instead of one or two cards adversely affecting lesser decks, it's an entire rules revamp widening the gap.
