If Aaron learned anything from his internship, never make the first move, so he stood his ground and gripped one of his batons. Aina mentioned something about weapons as she brings out a small object and flicked it towards Aaron. Aaron misjudged what she was doing with it and was barely able to deflect the small bearing, but still got hit by it. Not enough that it was extreme pain, but enough that there was a stinging where it hit.

Crap! She’s a shooter! I gotta close the gap! Aaron sent surges of electricity to the muscles in his legs and quickly shot off towards Aina, leaving foot sized craters from the initial launch. Aaron’s sprint got to her within seconds and released a punch, only to have her immediately dodged to the side and shoot another bearing into him, smiling that she is getting the upper hand in this fight. The pain felt like a bullet just went through him, but doing his best to ignore the pain he pivoted towards her and launched again with another punch, but only to have it blocked. Though he did some damage, Aina wasn’t fazed and proceeded to sweep Aaron from the front. As Aaron started to catch himself with one foot, he grabbed one of his batons and jabbed the gold tip into the ground, releasing a spread of electricity in all directions hitting Aina. "Hey!! Your electricity is going to frizz my hair up!" Shouted Aina, she stepped back and proceeded to shoot another bearing at Aaron. Deflecting the bearings was starting to become a problem as Aaron wasn’t the best at repelling the projectiles without them hitting him in the process. He blocked the next incoming bearing with his other baton, which ricocheted into him again. However, she slowed down a bit from the shocking and Aaron took the chance to make a comeback. Aaron charged his left baton and swung as hard as he could at Aina in hopes of getting a solid hit this time. However, she caught the baton to avoid a body blow, but only to feel electricity shooting through her entire arm causing it to go limp, rendering it useless. She ripped from the baton and Aaron could tell she was livid as she scowled at him. Having one arm to rely on for the time being was going to be a huge relief for now. Both quickly backed off from each other, about 4 and a half meters away, giving Aaron time to catch his breath.

“Lucky hit there. . .”

Valerie laughed joyfully as her hit landed. A solid strike that her opponent clearly felt. She hoped to drive the girl farther and farther backwards until she ran out of room to run.

She glanced down at her fist, which had hit a crystal, and considered the possibility that she should invest in some sort of gloves. Punching rocks may not be the best course of action all things considered. Though right now she was just thrilled to see that the fight wasn't going to be one-sided entirely.

She grinned at Asuka. "Trying to rock my world are ya? Gonna have to kick it up a notch in that case!" Her opponent must have thought that Valerie wasn't very observant, having just charged in like that. But there was a reason she scored so high in tests. Just because she preferred to use her fists didn't mean she couldn't think.

She hadn't forgotten the crystals behind her and, as they came for her knees, she crouched and jumped over them. This, of course, put the wall of rocks the girl had created on a crash course for her mid-air body.

So she did the first thing that came to mind. There were gaps between the rocks and Valerie had climbed quite a few rock walls in her day. So she reached out and grabbed onto the rocks in front of her and began climbing to the top.

Unfortunately, as Valerie would soon learn, the rocks were controlled entirely by telekinesis, physics didn't work as normal upon them, and Asuka had more than a little control in how they moved.

The wall began to rotate, and Valerie let go of the rocks. She fell a few feet towards the ground. Turning as she fell, the girl placed a hand down on the floor of the arena. Twisting before she hit the ground Valerie rolled once again in Asuka's direction. She sprang up and dove forward. This time instead of simply punching the girl she aimed to grab Asuka around the waist and drag her to the ground with her momentum.

"I-It's really nothing. To be honest, Terro hasn't been too much of a handful." Ichiro stated, before looking between the two groups. "Oh right, sorry. Uh, Rei, this is Terro and his grandfather."

"Hmm... you have a good friend, Terro," the elderly man stated as he nodded to himself. "With a nice firm grip as well!"

"Rei Adachi. And I finally get to meet the one guy that Ichi here has been talking highly of." Ichiro's brother said, before shaking his head. "And of course the guy who fe-OW!!" Rei was quickly silenced as Ichiro stepped on his foot some. He grumbled some and cleared his throat before moving towards the grandfather, shaking his hand. "Pleasure to meet you. Seems like you have quite the grandson."

"And you have quite the brother. My grandson speaks very highly after all! In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd almost say that he was...," He paused as he looked at Terro, who was visibly pouting. "Ah, nevermind," he quickly corrected.

"Sorry about that...but he's been really wanting to meet the guy who 'fell over' during the first day." Ichiro apologized as he walked over with Terro, shaking his head. "Kept telling him not to bring it up. He almost did."

"I wish my grandpa would listen to me about that," Terro admitted with a nervous laugh. "I think I'm doomed to be stuck with that for the rest of my life,"

"Oy, Terro! The matches seem to be starting soon, so Rei and I are heading to the stands! Good luck! And remember! Don't fall!"

"GRANDPA!!!"

Terro sighed as he suited up, the new gi fitting like a well crafted glove. He flexed a bit, taking some deep breaths as he calmed himself. This was the first tournament where he could go all out... and he would make the most of it. He would make his family proud, he would face his friends, and he would take the next step to becoming a great hero. With these thoughts, he headed onto the stage. Standing there, waiting for him, was Ino, looking ready for battle. In fact, as soon as the referee told them to begin, she already had a move planned.

"If you can move the ground, then I guess I'll have to make it a little harder for you, Terro!"  Ino said, planting both hands on the ground, causing the arena to shake with vigor. The shaking was enough to even knock him off his balance, his stance not helping him. This honestly reminded him a bit more of his training...

"What else are you going to hit me with up here?"

Terro nodded, spreading his legs apart and raising an arm, taking a martial art stance. He reared back his fist, causing a stone to levitate. He went to throw a punch, before a thought crossed his mind.

"Tempest-sensei told me I was too ridged, would using anything from my martial arts contribute to this? Should I be trying a different way? Am I doing this wrong?" his hand shook a bit as he internally debated what he should do right then.

In an instant, a lash of wind acted as a chop to Terro's head.  "NO GOOD! There you go hesitating again!  If I were a villain, you'd be dead!" Terro groaned and rubbed his head. So was that it? Did he think too much? How would he stop thinking then, and... Wait a minute! He was doing it now! Terro shook his head and made another rock levitate, throwing his fist out to launch the rock.

The rock was deflected easily, before ever reaching Tempest.  "No good, No good!  Think, and move at the same time.  Be fluid!"  Another lash landed on Terro's head.  "Like the air."

Seeing Terro flat on his butt from Ino's constant shaking, Terro's grandfather burst out into laughter. "Come on boy!" He called out from his seat. "I said not to fall!"  Terro choose to ignore his grandfather's laughter as he slowly rose to his feet. He then started to take some steps to her, grinning.

"You know you'll need to do better than that," He says as he stomped on the ground, causing some debris to leap into the air, which he caught with his powers, and fired at her.

She looked up to see the debris flying towards her, almost spacing out. "Dangit! I didn't think it would be that easy... but I was kinda hoping I'd catch you slipping! Hehe!" She placed her arms in front of her face, as they become intensely blurry. The debris collided with her arms, as Ino grunted, but otherwise seemed unaffected. "How about this one!"  She said, as she then whirls her arm, stopping as she threw something invisible at Terro. The air in between the two seemed to become blurry again, as it rapidly approached Terro.

"Trust me, this is a lot harder to do like this," Terro says. "Nice block, by the way," He was impressed, to say the least. It seemed he'd need to be a bit more clever if he wanted to beat her.  As she whirled her arm, Terro didn't see her launch anything, but he figured it was best to defend anyways. He held his arm in a defensive position, prepared to take whatever she threw at him. Something hit his arm, and although it didn't have much force behind it, it made his arm feel a bit numb. Gritting his teeth, he put his arm down and rubbed it a bit. "Whoa, I wasn't expecting that. That's a pretty cool move there, Ino," She celebrated and smiled in response to that.

"Yeah! I just figured I can translate the vibrations on my skin, and use them to affect other stuff around me, like the air! I call it the Viberwave! ... Or is that too lame?" She sounded a bit meek as she said the final part. Terro shook his head in response.

"No way, I think it sounds cool!" He said wholeheartedly. "Now, let's see if your Viberwave can overcome my power!"

"Trying to rock my world are ya? Gonna have to kick it up a notch in that case!"

Asuka watched as Valerie then dropped from the makeshift wall Asuka had formed between the two. She was surprised her opponent had even tried climbing it in the first place. If Valerie was that eager to keep the gap between herself and Asuka small to nonexistent, Asuka would have to do a bit better than she was doing in trying to get some distance, just like Valerie said. As Asuka was thinking out her next move, however, she was cut short by that familiar sauna-like feeling rushing over her again, to an even greater extent, as Valerie sprung forth and tackled Asuka, bringing the two to the ground. The water tank over her back seemed to only make the fall hurt that much more, but it did at least keep her head from going down onto the floor.

Asuka felt like she was going to be sick. In the hopes that it could help her with the hot feeling over her body, Asuka reached for a knob near the bottom of her mask, and turned it. If Valerie listened closely, she would be able to hear some sort of liquid rushing through the tube connecting the mask to the tank over Asuka's back. Beneath the mask, Asuka opened her mouth as her drink of choice shot out of the tube, gripping the end with her teeth to avoid spilling any, before turning the knob again after a brief moment to stop the flow. Every drop counted to her right now, especially since she'd been pretty specific about beverages since her training with Lady Law started. Over the last couple weeks, aside from tea, Asuka had almost exclusively been drinking sports drinks to help with her new diet, especially ones that could help support a high-iron diet. The effort was paying off...

iU8EggM.png

"I'll let you in on a little secret..." Lady Law regained some sort of her authoritative posture. "Your mother once told me, after sticking it to me really hard in combat training, that the reason her crystals were so hard was because she was infusing more iron into them. She told me it retained their atomic crystalline structure better, and made them almost as hard as literal diamonds." With a wink in Asuka's direction, Lady Law finished, "They didn't shatter easily, and they could be used many times after their initial shot."

"I see!" Asuka made a mental note that she'd have to put more iron in her diet, effective as soon as she got home. Then, she paused briefly, recapping what Lady Law had said. Her mother had told Lady Law that? She'd even referred to the woman by name at least once. "Wait, she said that to you herself, after combat training? Then, the two of you were..."

Another chop landed on Asuka's head. "Don't go getting any funny ideas, girl!" Lady Law turned a heel to Asuka, facing away from the girl now. She probably would have missed if it she wasn't paying attention, but Asuka noticed a small drop of water hit the ground next to Lady Law's foot. "That'll conclude today's lesson! Tell your godmother I said hi..."

iU8EggM.png

I have an idea. It wouldn't be something Asuka would consider if her crystals were still the frail things she was used to, but with the stronger crystals she'd been working on, it just might have worked. As it stood, the only thing between Valerie and the floor was Asuka. Which meant that if Asuka didn't mind trying to bear with Valerie's Quirk for a while longer, she could effectively make the girl a sitting duck. It wasn't her favorite idea in the world, but it was all Asuka could think of to turn this situation to her advantage. And so, Asuka reached with her arms, wrapping them tightly around Valerie's midsection to hold her in place. Then she made her move.

Asuka called down the full collection of crystals in a bombardment type of attack. A few of them would shatter on impact, either due to repeated uses or simply because they weren't as well-made as other crystals, but Asuka had an opponent that couldn't really move much, so it was best to hit her with everything while she could, before that heat coming off Valerie became too much to bear.

Valerie's charge had its intended effect and now the girl was on top of her opponent. This close, she could see the details of Asuka's suit more clearly. As the girl began drinking down some kind of liquid the thought crossed her mind that those crystals must take something from the girl. Why else would a hero suit be designed in such a way? Unless the girl was just really thirsty all the time.

Her first instinct was to yank the cords that were bringing the drink to Asuka's mouth out. She wasn't sure what the purpose of this device was but it couldn't hurt to remove even the slightest advantage.

She didn't expect Asuka to so quickly grasp her. She'd hoped the girl would be a bit more stunned by her sudden assault. "Ha, guess I should expect quick responses from a fellow student!" Valerie said as the first sting of the gems hit her back. "Unfortunately for you I'm not just a student..."

The gems relentlessly struck her back, and even occasionally her head, over and over, leaving marks with each strike. She tensed up the muscles in her back, intending to endure the hits. She couldn't just sit there forever, though, she had to act herself. She gripped the two cords, staying up only by her knees at either side of Asuka's waist, and pulled hard, yanking them away from the mask.

"...I'm the best student." she finished. The heat that Asuka had felt this entire time spiked in temperature and intensity. The very air around them began to shimmer with the heat wave that now was coming from the girl. And, being so close, Asuka would feel the full brunt of it.

Valerie's back was now covered in marks. Welts, bruises, even a few cuts. However this didn't stop her. It also didn't remove the girl's wild smirk. "I'll take a billion blows if it means winning! A hero can't afford to give in no matter how hard their foe hits! My body won't give up until my heart does...And my heart NEVER GIVES UP!" She cocked her fist back and went for another punch to the side of Asuka's head.

"I.  Am not.  A villain."  Gin said, through clenched teeth.

"That's exactly what a villain would say, parading around as some sort of hero, just to get the drop on us!"  Erika said, pointing a self-righteous finger at Gin.  "But I, Erika, also known as Kamiki - the Breezy Hero, will reveal this facade of yours!  After this match is sorted out, you'll be behind bars in no time!  And then, U.A. will once again be safe from any sort of tom foolery from the villains of this world!"

"You know...a smart villain would divert attention to the most obvious source...wouldn't they?"  Gin said, with a sly smile under his mask.

"W-w-what!?  What are you inferring!?  Are you saying, that I, the prodigy of class 1-B, is the villain in disguise that I so proclaim you to be!?  That's just laughable!  HOHOHOHOHO!"  Erika said, bringing her hand up to her mouth.  "What evidence do you have for that?  I don't look as villainous as you, now do I?  And taking potshots at a clearly indefensible opponent such as myself is quite the trait of villainy."

"Less talk."  Gin said, raising his finger again, and firing out a beam of red energy.  It was too fast for Erika to dodge, and it tore a hole through the arm of her jacket, leaving a rather large burn on her arm.  She flinched, not ready for the pain that came with the attack.  As she looked to it to asses the damage to her costume, she began to go on a shaky, but heavily angry, tirade.

"Another potshot!  How dare yo-"  Before she knew it, Gin was up close and personal with Erika, opting to sweep her off her feet with his legs.  She was too focused on her injury to even notice him closing the gap.  In retaliation, she puffed her cheeks and puffed a large burst of Wind at Gin that made him fly off a couple of feet.  Most of the impact hit him in the stomach.  He wasn't prepared for the force that the girl was able to deliver with just her breath.  "You wanna mess up my costume...fine...let me return the favor."  Erika's lips became tighter, and more precise, as if she were about to whistle.  Gin could hear the air pass her mouth, but the next thing he knew, there was a large cut at the top of his shoulder.  He gripped it, as it started to bleed.  He kept his eyes, and ears, tracked on the girl.  He wouldn't give her the same opportunity he had.  He could hear some more whistles, as he tried his best to dodge the wind that came his way, but he always ended up with a couple of more cuts around his body.

"Face it, villain boy, you can't fight the wind."  She said, with quite the smirk on her face.  It was then that she felt two impacts into her gut.  Looking at Gin, she saw that both of his fingers were pointed at her.  The impacts had taken her breath away.  She need to move!  She needed to get awa-

"Low Frequency: Micro Piston"  Just like his radio bullet, the air between his pointer fingers and his opponent became heavily distorted.  However, this time, the distorted space was much larger than what was seen with Radio Bullet.  The two forces hit Erika in her shoulders, causing her to fall down.  She was still trying to catch her breath at this point.  Gin was able to run up to her, stomping on her arm, pointing a finger down at the girl.  His finger lit up with a green hue.  "This one won't feel like a punch.  I promise."  The girl's desperate squealing was intensified to the point where she was able to assemble some words.

"I give up."

Ino and Terro stood in the arena, neither one of them making a move just yet.  Just then, Ino could see that Terro was smiling.   He he raised a finger, it pointing to the sky. Five pieces of the stage ripped out of the ground and levitated besides him. "Here's some target practice!" he said as he fired one, taking a step forwards as he did.  Ino flinched, seeing the boy do this so effortlessly was quite the shocker.

"W-w-w-w-wait just a second Terro!"  Ino cried, waving her hands in the air.  She realized it was coming too quick to send an attack at, so she instead ducked under the block of the stadium.  "Y-y-y-you d-d-did that p-p-pretty easil-l-ly huh?"  Ino's vibrations were getting intense, as her whole body lay on the ground.  She upped the intensity of her vibrations, causing their arena to quake some more.

"I-I mean... I-it was h-hard at first... b-but I adjusted t-to t-the shaking," Terro said.  He did his best to keep himself standing, but her intense vibrations caused him to the fall down, which in turn, made him lose focus, and the pieces of the stage came falling down.  As he saw the big lug take a tumble, she cackled a bit under her breath.

"Hehe!  Here I c-c-c-c-come T-t-t-t-terro!"  She said, inching herself on the floor of the arena towards her opponent.  As she drew closer, the shock waves reverberating from her body grew in intensity.  As long as he didn't have stable footing, this was a sure win for her!

Goto's punch landed with surgical precision, hitting Creed right between the eyes, making the kid drop almost instantly.  Amazed, Goto walked up to his opponent, who was now snoozing on the arena's floor.

"Huh...right out the gate huh?  Gotta say kid, you aren't painting a very good picture of 1-A."  He shrugged.

"Hiroki Goto of class 1-B moves on to the next round!"  The generic announcer seemed to be the only one who was excited about the event.  The crowd was mostly silent.  It was surely the most lackluster fight they had seen all day.  However, Mako couldn't be more than happy, as he pumped his fist.

"THAT'S RIGHT 1-B!!!!  Let's show these posers in training what for!"

"Well...that sure was the display, Creed."  Suna said, with his head in his hand.

"Hehe!  Here I c-c-c-c-come T-t-t-t-terro!"  Terro gritted his teeth as he watched Ino come closer. He wasn't sure of what to do... what could he... wait! Maybe... he rolled over onto his stomach, placing his hand onto the ground, gritting his teeth more. A small portion around Ino began to crack, but it was obvious Terro was having a hard time doing what he was planning.

Ino started to notice the stadium under her start to splinter, but even it would be hard for her to get up now.  As a matter of fact, going on for this long was starting to make her dizzy.  So quickened her pace towards Terro, opting for an army crawl as it were.  "N-n-no w-w-way m-m-mister!"  She said, gritting her teeth.

"G-g-gotta k-k-keep t-t-trying th-th-that," Terro said as he placed both hands on the ground and yelling. The cracking began to speed up, as it attempted to circle Ino. "T-t-the b-b-best w-w-way t-t-to b-b-be u-u-unaffected b-b-by y-y-your sh-sh-shaking i-i-is to get y-y-y-you away from the g-g-ground!" He says as he attempts to lift the ground up from under Ino and levitate it in the air. Ino's horizon started to shift, as Terro came out of view.  It seemed like she was rising in the air now, atop a floating piece of vibrating stadium. She stopped vibrating, realizing it wasn't going to affect her opponent at this point.

"AHHH!  Terro, let me down!!!!!!" She wailed from atop the tile. Terro sighed as he got up, dusting himself off.

"Well, I guess I could do that," He said with a grin as he moved the piece towards the out of bounds. If Ino didn't do something quick, Terro's victory would be assured!

"Hey, good luck! Do your best!"

"Same to you, Mike." Ichiro nodded firmly, before exhaling slightly. This was the moment he was waiting for...it was time.

"And, FIGHT!"

Ichiro was preparing to get in a stance, but watched as Mike immediately made the first move. The Force focused boy launched himself forward with the energy that was being pumped out through his boots and began to run around the arena's perimeter. He went from fast...to freakishly fast.

J-Jeez...I can barely follow Mike's movements!! he thought, his fists clenching slightly.

Finally Ichiro saw Mike slow down a bit, and extend his arms out in front of him, sending a burst of energy out towards him. He was trying to force him off the arena.

"Ichi!!" Rei shouted, on the edge of his seat right now. Why isn't he doing anything?

Training with Omega Star

"What does it feel like when you use your powers?"

Ichiro didn't have to waste too much time on this answer, he knew the feeling all too well. He lifted his arm and held his wrist slightly. "It feels...it feels like I'm made of a fragile glass. Every time I use this Quirk, my wrists...my arms...my leg...they feel like glass and they break almost as easy."

"I figured." Omega Star nodded, before smiling "And with your suit, they added in athletic bracers to keep you from breaking yourself too much, correct?" She watched as Ichiro nodded. "Well then, if that's the case...we just need to make them stronger!"

"E-Excuse me?"

"Observe." Omega Star said, looking over at a tree over in the corner of the area and immediately flying towards it and slamming a fist straight through it, shattering the tree with one punch. "Now...ordinarily, if I didn't have my Quirk, that would've shattered my arm. And guess what, I would've been just like you."

Ichiro nodded slowly, looking at his own fist and wondering what she was possibly meaning at this point.

"In short, Adachi...we're going to have you learn to use this Quirk to your advantage." Omega Star smiled, placing a hand on her hip. "We're going to be reinforcing your body with this Quirk of yours."

Present Day

"ICHI!!"

Ichiro could hear Rei shouting his name, as the burst of energy was still heading towards him. He clenched his fist a bit more before finally making a move.

He began to dodge towards his right, rolling and then returning into a crouched position as he stared at Mike. "Not a bad start there Mike. Heh...looks like you really are strong." he said, slowly standing up. This fight was just starting.

Aina Hano | One Girl Army - Fuze

iU8EggM.png

"Lucky hit there..." Aina frowned, before shifting slightly in her stance. "But it's not like you're gonna win!"

Soon Aina rushed forward towards Aaron and delivered a nice kick to the boy's side, courtesy of her combat boot. If that sent him off balance a bit, the young girl would immediately sweep the boy's legs out from under him. Better for a boy like him to stay with his back on the ground than standing up in front of her like this.

"Don't mess with 1-B! I don't care if you all did face a group of villains. We aren't to be trifled with!"

Casey Russell | Warping Hero - Blink

iU8EggM.png

Before he knew it...he lost. The same guy who was trying to walk out of the arena...Akira Tomoaki...had beaten him. Casey finally started coming back to, seeing only the back of Akira as he walked off.

D-Damnit... Casey thought, gritting his teeth. ...next time...next time I'll beat your ass for sure!!

Shin Lee | Multi Hero - Bushin

iU8EggM.png

"I-I'm... here! Sorry about... that...Alright... I think I'm good now. Good luck!"

So this was his opponent. Upside to this, however, Shin immediately saw what this guy's Quirk was. Apparently it had something to do with snake physiology. Nevertheless, Shin glared at Isami.

"You're late." he said, shaking his head slightly. "Now we can finally get started on this match."

"Begin the match!"

"Tch...I'll end it." Shin said, slamming his hands together. He exhaled slowly and then in a strange manner, lowered his hands to his sides. Then he took a strolling walk towards Isami, but to the snake boy and everyone's surprise...where there was two...then three of him. There was, of course a slight difference with each one. The Shin in the middle had on a black ninja suit, the one on his left had dark red, and the one on his right had yellow. "Objective is beat him."

"Tch...I don't remember asking you a damn thing about what our objective was." the red clothed ninja said in quite the angry tone.

"Awwww, don't be mad! You need to be a lot more happier, like me!" the one in the yellow laughed, as all three went from walking, to sprinting towards Isami.

There were only a few seconds of relaxing before Aina got into another pose and launched at Aaron with her arm dangling behind. It was somewhat surprising that she wasn't shooting anything this time, maybe because Aaron got rid of her good shooting arm and wasn't taking the risk of missing. It didn't matter what the reason was, but he only had a second to brace whatever she was going to do. She proceeded to kick his side in hopes of maybe unbalancing Aaron again but was sourly mistaken in doing so. Aaron allowed the kick to hit him directly for as it made contact, he quickly grabbed her leg and gripped tightly so she wouldn't slip out. She was struggling to get free and she was livid.

"You know, maybe you should have been more careful when fighting against an electric quirk user, especially in close combat. The results could be shocking!" Aaron poured electricity into her body as she screamed in pain. After a few seconds, he stopped and let go of Aina as she fell to the ground, almost lifeless. Aina was struggling and trying to move her body, but she could only move her eyes and mumble out grunts. "I only got rid of muscle movement and it sometimes gets facial as well. It will last about half an hour before you can regain control again." Aaron took his hood off his suit so she can get a full glance at her opponent. Aaron can tell she was upset, but she can't do anything now.

"And by the way, I would rather be an artist than a full-time hero. I am deathly scared of fighting villains than fighting in a competitive sport. However, I have my reasons for why I chose this, as much as you do. See you 'round."

"Ha, guess I should expect quick responses from a fellow student! Unfortunately for you I'm not just a student..."

You're a student that's going to make me vomit if this heat doesn't let up. Valerie's next move was to rip the cords from Asuka's mask, causing a blue liquid to come out from the now-exposed ends. Not good! There was no way to plan for that happening, was there? She'd have to look into ways to keep that from happening again in the future. Most of the crystals she'd used on the assault against Valerie's back were shattered by now from such rapid use, her tank was being drained with no way to access its contents, and worst of all...

"...I'm the best student."

The heat around her got even more intense. It was like somebody had set the air itself on fire. Just breathing was difficult, what with the heat and her mask. She barely even noticed Valerie's fist coming in for another swing, and suddenly it was there, slamming into the side of her head. The few crystals remaining dropped lazily onto Valerie's back as Asuka put all her attention to not throwing up from the heat washing over her. She released Valerie from her grip, grabbing at her mask instead before pulling it off her face.

"That's enough," Asuka gasped. "I can't make more crystals in this state, and most of them are broken now. I can't wall you out and you're stronger than I am. You win. I surrender." Having declared her defeat, Asuka slipped out from under Valerie, causing the tank on her back to make a grinding sound not unlike fingernails on a chalkboard. She had to put some distance between the herself and her opponent again, taking deep breaths to recover from the heat wave Valerie had washed over her with. She looked down at the cords attached to her suit's tank, now lazily dripping with the last few drops of the tank's last bits of content. If nothing else, she could at least put those back where they belonged now.

I did a pretty bad job, Asuka thought to herself as she reached for the cords, inserting the ends back into the mask where they belonged, before unfastening the straps over her shoulders and waist, to remove the tank. It was only the first round and that's what came of it. I've got a really long way to go at this rate.

"That's enough," Asuka gasped. "I can't make more crystals in this state, and most of them are broken now. I can't wall you out and you're stronger than I am. You win. I surrender."

Winner: Valerie Clark

Wha? Valerie hadn't expected the fight to end so soon, she had been fully prepared to push herself to the limits to win this fight if she had to. Yet the girl had surrendered after just that?

Thinking about it, Valerie had put her in a bad position from the start, but wasn't it a heroes job to win despite that? Well, it wasn't her responsibility to tell Asuka that. Were it here own class she may have said more. As it was Valerie simply got to her feet as Asuka scrambled away. She stepped forward to give the girl a handshake then, realizing her Body Heat was growing, decided it may not be the best idea.

Instead she just called out from this distance. "Those things hurt ya know, bet you could do some great things with them given the chance." Valerie rubbed her back and laughed as she felt the sting. They'd probably have her checked out after this one. "Don't look so down in the dumps. You lost against the best. For all we know you might be the second strongest one here!"

Valerie would try and keep in motion until her next match, which would be against her own classmate, started. She was playing a risky game and she knew it. She had to keep her power growing in order to fight all the harder in the coming matches. Yet if she went too far...ah, she'd worry about that when she reached the finals.

For now all she had to focus on was beating Goto. She hadn't wanted to take her own classmates down, the class rep eliminating her class was a shame, but apparently that Creed guy had been even more all talk than she had expected.

"You're late." he said, shaking his head slightly. "Now we can finally get started on this match."

"Sorry about that! Hehe..." There wasn't much time for chit chat, however, as the battle started. Isami watched as Shin walked towards him slowly, almost like a stroll. However, as he got closer, he seemed to make copies of himself in different outfits. It was a bit intimidating, especially when the three of them started running towards him simultaneously. He started backing up a bit, before taking a deep breath. He focused his attention on the original one and, as they got closer to him, he started slithering towards the one he was focusing on. As the two got closer, he quickly shifted into his snake form, slithering between the boys legs and stopping behind him, before returning to his half snake form he had at the start of the battle.

Mike

"Not a bad start there Mike. Heh... looks like you really are strong." Ichiro had ducked, rolled, and dodged Mike's initial blast, placing himself lower and behind Mike. His voice had surprised Mike, causing him to give a small start, using his suit to blast himself in the air briefly and spin himself around to face Ichiro's direction in flashing display of neon-green lights, landing a few feet away. He glanced at his helmet's display, watching the meter for his suit's power count down, and at first instinct refilled its meter quickly with a few bursts. He breathed slowly in through the nose, and out through the mouth, reminding himself to be careful and not push himself too hard. If this was a war of attrition, he needed to be prepared to win it.

"Well, we'll see about that!" Mike replied, using a larger burst from his back in one step to give himself a sudden and fast lunge forward, charging an additional blast in his gloves, aimed for Ichiro's midsection, for a second attempt at his plan. While his speed was good, he was banking on the element of surprise from his sudden movements just a little too much in this case with a frontal assault.

"AHHH!  NO PLEASE!"  Ino said, huddling towards the edge of the tile.  It wasn't too high off the ground...or was it?  She couldn't tell.  Instead, she swallowed her fear and hopped off the edge feet first.  Before she could hit the ground, her feet started to blur, and the air beneath them did as well, slowing her descent at the last instant.  "Hmph...you won't get away playing dirty like that."  She said, with a pout on her face.  It was too close a call for her, but this whole entire stage was Terro's playground.  If it was made out of some sort of rock, then Terro could definitely manipulate it.  However, it wasn't as if she could fight offstage in the first place.  Then she'd be disqualified!  Across the way, Terro slowly got to his feet.

"Aw, and here I thought I was being clever," He said as he summoned the piece he was carrying Ino with to him. "Still... those vibrations are hard to deal with... so maybe...," he climbed on the piece of the stage, it levitating a few inches off the ground. "That should help!"

"Wha!?!?!"  Ino exclaimed, her fist rattling in the air.  She wasn't sure if it was frustration settling in, or just her quirk...maybe a mixture of both.  "No fair!  No fair!  That's obviously gotta be against the rules."  Ino turned towards the referees with a confused look on her face.

"Well...he's still on the stage, technically."  Suna said with a slight grin.  "What did that air head teach this kid."  Ino began to pout even more, as she tucked her knees into a sort of weird fighting stance.

"Well..I can't just give up, right?  I'm giving it my all here!"  Ino's arm's began to blur again, as a sort of air current began to funnel around her arms.  "You're strong Terro.  Way strong!  Stronger than I could ever hope to be.  But what kinda hero would just straight out admit that to an opponent.  It's not about being stronger."  She shot her arms out again, this time mini twisters launched themselves out at Terro in the sky.  "It's about giving it your all!"  Ino giggled a bit, as the vibration from her arms kept at it.  "I fiddled with my Quirk so I could hit bad guys in the air too!  I'm not getting left behind that easily!"

Goto sat alone in one of the extra waiting rooms, watching the screen in the upper corner of the room display his fellow 1-B classmate's victory.  He smiled, but it was soon blocked out by his hands moving to clasp at his mouth.  He threaded the fingers between each other and sighed.  Naturally, they would be fighting each other next.  It honestly sucked.  His other classmates weren't the type to be able to snatch victory away from the 1-A students.  Only one of them would be able to move on, in the name of 1-B.

Honestly, he could just throw the match if he wanted...so neither of them would get hurt in the process...

What was he talking about?  He actually wanted to prove himself.  To them.  To her.  He wanted to show his stuff too.  All of the other student's were so amped up, it would be a shame for him to just walk out there and not give it his all.  The all that Erika had given to fight that distrubed kid...It would be disgraceful of him to pull his punches against a classmate.

But even so...would it prove fruitful?

Yes.  This clash between 1-B...it would prove that they're one above the other class.  That they were worthy of the same admiration.  During their next fight, in those fleeting moments, one of them would rise above the others.

"Rise Above Max Omega..."  Goto whispered into his hand, breathing nervously.

Gin sat in a waiting room, across from stretchy arms boy.  He, too, was at the edge of his seat.  He was going over all of the spars that he and Terro had had prior to all of this.  A sinking feeling met his stomach.  What if Terro didn't teach him everything...what if he was hiding something from Gin just to lead him around like a dog chasing a snack on a string.  The one guy he respected in this whole class...there was no way.

Was he a liar too?

"You got lucky!"

Gin looked up, seeing a hand open the sliding door.

gkBETf2.jpg?1

Seeing the girl he had just taken mercy on confront him again, it made his muscles tense.  He shot straight up out of his chair, eyeing her with strained retinas.  The girl was shocked at first, but she was out of breath.  She stood up straight as well, and calmed herself down.  Her chest expanded, as she took in as deep a breath as possible.

"Stupid!  Stupid!  Incredibly stupid!  Were you going to kill me if I hadn't given up?!  That's just as villainous a trait as hurting a damsel you know?!  If you hadn't gotten those lucky shots in, I definitely would have won!  You didn't deserve to win!  Only 1-B deserves to win!  It's our turn for the spotlight now!  You got to fight those dastardly villains, but we're gonna take this tournament, and run with it!  You've got no idea the enemy you have made today!  For as long as I breath, You'll never hear the end from me!  Ya hear?!  I'll expose you and your evil deeds someday!  Just you wait GIN!"

And as quickly as she had arrived, Erika had already left, making her way to 1-B's waiting room.

Gin looked to the door, irritated as he was during the match.

"Shut. Up."  was all he could muster in response to the girl's fading presence.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Terro called out as he directed his rock to steer itself away from the twisters. "I'm super impressed Ino! You've done some amazing training!" He began to rip some more parts of the stage out, about six stones of different sizes floating in the air. He then fired three off, one directly at Ino, and the other two slightly at her sides.

"EEP~!"  Ino squealed, seeing three stones being simultaneously launched at her. Her whole body became blurry, as the stones impacted her body, turning to dust as rubble formed behind her. She didn't move an inch, but when her body became completely visible again, she wobbled a bit, losing her balance. She was obviously dizzy, using her quirk for so long and throughout her entire body. She couldn't help but clasp her hand over her mouth.

Terro flew his rock over and landed a few feet away from the sick girl. "Alright, Ino, I guess now is the time to finish you off," He took his stance. "You fought well, though!" he said as he launched the final three rocks at her.

The three rocks collided with her body, but were turned to dust almost instantly. The arena began to shake, even the audience could feel it from where the two were. "Heh...Th-th-thanks for getting in close T-t-terro."  Ino said, her presence masked by a cloud of dust.  But suddenly, a fist emerged from the obscuring cloud, almost vanishing due to the force that punched through.  Ino's fist flew towards Terro, or what seemed to be a fist. It was so intensely blurred, that it seemed to be distorting. When the fist collided with Terro, it would be nothing more than a light tap. The rest of her body would collide with Terro, as she slid down his chest.

Terro was breathing heavily as she slid down his chest. Whatever it was that she was doing, it quite literally shook him to his core. Still, he had enough of his wits about him to grab her, and make sure she didn't hit the ground. He looked around a bit awkwardly. He had a girl in his arms, and he didn't want to just throw her out to the ground. That didn't seem hero-like at all.

As the crowd stood silent, the Ref's looked at each other. With the looks on their faces, it was apparent that they weren't expecting that much from Ino at all. Mako made his way onto the stage, and walked up to Terro, placing two fingers on the girl's neck.

"She's out cold. Way to go slugger." The teacher of 1-B raised a hand into the air. "Ino Todoya is unconscious. Terro is the winner!"  With that, the audience erupted into an earth shattering roar, almost quaking the stadium as much as Ino had.

Terro sighed to himself as he walked down the hall into a waiting room, rubbing his arm. It still felt funny after what Ino did to it. He only hoped it would be gone before his next fight. Looknig up, he noticed the girl that had fought Gin leaving a room in a huff. Curious, he went to look into the room and saw Gin. The martial artist smiled at the cranky classmate.

"Yo! Nice match you had!" Terro said. "But, what was that girl doing here?" Without waiting for an answer, he slammed his fist into an open palm. "Oh, wait, I think I get it," The boy was obviously excited, probably that he pieced this thing together by himself. "You two are trying to start a 're-lations-hip', right?" He asked, loud enough for the girl that was leaving to hear. "My grandpa said that's how my parents met, after all. My mom beat the crap out of my dad, and they fell in love and made babies. Well, one baby, anyways," He rubbed the back of his neck and grinned. "So, you ready for our match? I learned a lot from the week of training! I might just surprise you!" He said cheerfully.

Training with Omega Star

"We're going to be reinforcing your body with this Quirk of yours."

Ichiro looked at Omega Star and looked at his own fist. "Reinforce my own...body?"

"Yeah. In short, use your own Quirk to make sure your body doesn't break." Omega Star nodded, fixing her hair slightly. "Though you seem like you have something on your mind already, Adachi."

"I-I think I've done something like this before."

"Oh?"

Ichiro nodded. "Yeah. It was during the time in Kashyyyk. First against Double Dragon's mimic. I struck at him with my elbow...and it didn't break." he explained, seeing Omega Star now getting interested. "The second time was against that huge beast...I elbowed him in the stomach. I didn't think about it too much until I kicked him and my leg broke."

"Odd. Why didn't you let anyone know about this?"

"W-We had all been through a lot that day." Ichiro said, rubbing the back of his neck. "...I just wanted to go home. Maybe even forget about being a hero in general."

Omega Star nodded, before shrugging. "Regardless of that, glad you decided to stay. You got potential, trust me." she said, before cracking her knuckles. "Now, regarding your Quirk and how to reinforce your body. With what you just explained, you probably haven't ever used your Quirk against a human or humanoid opponent before. So perhaps you self-consciously were controlling your Quirk without your knowledge. Either way, with this, you probably have done it mainly in your arms, so that's where we'll start."

"Alright."

"All you have to do, is focus at the area you want to strengthen." Omega Star said, holding her hand out. "When I was training, I usually focused on the center of my palm. And with me legs, the center of my sole."

Ichiro understood, looking at his open hands. "But...how much?"

"Try starting small. Going full 100% isn't ever a good idea." Omega Star sighed. "Trust me. I tried that once. Since you keep outputting it at a 100%, start low and slowly work yourself up. I only use 50%, about 75% if I absolutely have to. So start at a low output and you should be fine."

iU8EggM.png

Present Day

"Well, we'll see about that!"

Ichiro watched as Mike once again rushed towards him in a lunge. Speedy as he was, Ichiro did sort of see this coming. He clenched his fists, before exhaling slowly.

You can do it, Ichiro. he thought, shifting slightly in his stance. Focus on the middle of your palm. And...output...5%!

-BGM-

Ichiro balled up his fist, before yelling as he slammed his fist into the arena's floor. "Eat your heart out Terro..." he muttered. "ATLAS TATAMI!!!" Once his fist slammed into the arena, a quick shockwave immediately spread throughout the area where it impacted and a huge piece of the arena rose up in front of Ichiro.

"W-Whoa...Ichi.." Rei simply said in awe at this.

My arm...it's...it's still in one piece! Ichiro thought, before moving and yelling and doing the same thing, punching the arena chunk towards Mike. This time, he only winced at the impact. N-Ngh...guess I...I still need to focus more. Still, even as fast as Mike is, that'll take a bit to dodge and avoid.

Aina Hano | One Girl Army - Fuze

iU8EggM.png

Aina couldn't believe how she was beaten in such a manner. Then again, this was the downside of an electric Quirk user facing off against with her in the first round, especially with her having those metal bearings in her pockets. Taken down by such an electrifying attack...

D-Damnit...

"I only got rid of muscle movement and it sometimes gets facial as well. It will last about half an hour before you can regain control again. And by the way, I would rather be an artist than a full-time hero. I am deathly scared of fighting villains than fighting in a competitive sport. However, I have my reasons for why I chose this, as much as you do. See you 'round."

Y-Yeah...I'll bet you did. Aina thought, grunting only as she watched the young man walk off the arena. Watch your back...1-A...next time...next time we'll beat you. Sorry guys...guess it's up to you guys...Shin...Val...Goto...you guys better not fuckin' lose!

Winner: Voltage

Shin Lee | Multi Hero - Bushin

iU8EggM.png

The Shins watched as Isami slithered under the true one's legs, seeing him spring back in his form that he took when he first arrived in the arena. All the Shins stopped and immediately turned on their heels.

"Aaaawwwww...he moved. That's no fair." the yellow outfitted ninja said, sighing.

"Of course he did, stupid!" the red one shouted. "He isn't an idiot!"

The middle Shin sighed and cleared his throat. "Focus! Attack Plan Gamma!"

Both the red and yellow ninjas nodded before the yellow one took a running leap towards Isami and tried to attack him with a roundhouse kick to the midsection. However, while this was happening, the red one was making a B-Line straight towards the druid, preparing to land a punch in him in the face.

"Those things hurt ya know," Valerie had called out, "bet you could do some great things with them given the chance."

At least they fazed you. The last person I tried using them on... Asuka thought back to the Kashyyyk incident. It had been a bit of a blow to her confidence, but hearing that in such an honest tone from the student that had beaten her so easily made Asuka feel a little bit better. That training with Lady Law paid off, after all!

"Don't look so down in the dumps. You lost against the best. For all we know you might be the second strongest one here!"

Second strongest in my class maybe; I don't think any of us can beat Tomoaki. So if you really are the best, that makes me the third-strongest student in U.A. at best. That's not good enough. It probably wasn't okay to just reject praise like that, the more Asuka thought about it. But she had to; being complacent with third-place wasn't nearly enough. Asuka had to come out the strongest in U.A. if she was going to see her goals finished. Even if she had only two hurdles to overcome - assuming the ideal situation that nobody was stronger than her except Valerie and Akira - they weren't small hurdles. She'd have to really work for it. Of course, she still had two whole years to do that. Overcoming those two in two years... assuming Tomoaki has already reached his peak, or will improve at a much slower rate than me, it might be doable. If I can work on how to fight up-close, I should be able to outdo Valerie before graduating. I knew I should have asked Lady Law for some hand-to-hand pointers, even though she insisted it's better to beat mama with my own Quirk to prove I'm stronger than her.

But that also assumes Valerie won't improve as well, and since she's in such great shape, she'll be able to train more efficiently than I can. And for that matter... Asuka had been just standing there for the last few moments, and only just now noticed. Lost in thought. That was a bit embarrassing. She had to thank Valerie for the kind words then be on her way. Turning to face the girl who had so easily beaten her, Asuka nodded, and called back, "Thank you! I'll be sure to train hard enough that if we ever have a rematch, it won't be as one-sided." With that, Asuka left the stage proper, planning to check her phone for any texts. She'd left it in her purse, which in turn was in the 1-A waiting room. Sure enough, when she arrived, and just as she picked up the phone, it buzzed and shook in her hand.

1 new text: Mama

Asuka gulped. She had to read it though!

I saw your fight. It looked rather one-sided in that Valerie girl's favor. It's a shame; I would have liked to see you get a bit further into the tournament.

...even she knows. Asuka wasn't sure if it was meant as an insult or what. Texting that sort of thing just to put her down seemed awfully unlike her mother. Even if she barely ever heard from the woman, she never said anything that seemed like it was supposed to put Asuka down. Best to respond.

Her Quirk makes it difficult to use Crystal once she gets close, and she was very athletic and closed the gap in no time. Sorry.

Are you sure you need to apologize to me? Your crystals are a lot sturdier than I remember. Good job.

This woman... Asuka couldn't help but interpret that text as a way of looking down on her. Sure her Quirk was a bit better now, but Asuka could hardly call it a good job if it still lost that easily. And she was speaking so casually, like she either had no idea what Asuka was trying to accomplish at U.A. or that she saw herself as so impossibly high up above Asuka that even if she did succeed and become a hero, Hematite would be no match for Bloodstone in any way. Asuka stopped herself there, to avoid getting worked up. I'm probably overthinking it...

Later, after Terro and Ino's fight...

h1v7t2f.png

The fights of the first round were turning out to be fights that promised good things for the rest of the tournament. Sayuri was glad she didn't enter after all. She would hate to have to fight one of these students herself. Her Quirk and fighting style were best suited for surprise attacks; something like this where a stronger foe had vision of her the whole time wasn't as great. She'd probably get beaten up and stuff. And speaking of people getting beaten up, Sayuri made her way down the hall, looking rather pleased with herself. Winner or loser, Sayuri was going to provide moral support to 1-A! With food. Everybody liked food, right? She even made sure to get all sorts of stuff to account for different tastes from different students. Not that she knew what most of the class liked.

I know what I like at least. I could eat this stuff all day, Sayuri happily thought to herself. In her hand was a tray of yakitori. Enough for two meals. Sayuri had skipped breakfast that morning to get to U.A. on time, and planned to make up the difference with her favorite treat. As she continued down the hall, she heard voices, coming from 1-A's waiting room. It sounded like Terro. He could be a bit loud sometimes, but he wasn't as bad as, say, Gin.

Come to think of it, she had to speak with him.

No time like the present.

And so, Sayuri proudly entered the waiting room, pulling behind her a small wagon filled with convenience store bags. On top of the bags was her whiteboard, with the message on it for all the see if they approached.

I bought these. They're for the whole class. If you won, have something tasty as a reward. If you lost, maybe something to eat will make you feel a bit better. Don't hog them for yourself; that's what a villain would do.

-Sayuri

Sayuri continued into the room before dropping the wagon's handle and ditching the wagon itself roughly in the middle of the room. She then made for Terro and Gin, just as Terro was finishing up his talk of how he might surprise Gin with what he'd learned. She waved, then signed a question. As much as she would have loved to use the whiteboard or even the speech device, the whiteboard had to stay with the little wagon for now, and the speech device... it seemed to have a pretty short battery life.

Gin, are you busy? I'd like to talk with you for a bit.

Mike

"ATLAS TATAMI!!!" Icihiro shouted out, slamming both his hands down onto the ground as Mike got closer, bringing up a huge slab of the arena in front of his opponent. Mike's force impacted against the concrete in a bright neon-green flash, the concrete knocked back towards Ichiro, until Ichiro hit the slab back in Mike's direction. Kicking up his legs only just soon enough, Mike landed against the square slab and gripped on as it flew through the air, leaping off into the air.

Using his force to stabilize himself, Mike only realized at the apex of his jump how high above the arena he was, and felt himself slip into a brief panic as he plummeted back down, his mind racing for ideas on how he should do this. As he neared the ground, still a few feet above Ichiro, he tucked his legs in beneath him, and kicked out hard behind himself, leaving another bright flash of green  as his body changed directions from straight down to horizontal. Feeling his stomach lurch, Mike landed behind Ichiro, but miscalculated how hard he had forced himself forwards and had to tuck and roll, putting himself further away from his opponent than he wanted.

Getting close was not working, however. At least, not right now. Running forwards and trying to attack was probably going to be met with the same result each time until either Ichiro hurt himself, or Mike tired himself out. However, Mike had more than one idea. Reaching down, Mike grabbed one of the metal spheres from his belt and gripped it in his hand tightly, making sure to keep that arm behind his body so Ichiro wouldn't see.

"Not bad, you almost got me there!" Mike said, as he wrist-brace around that arm unfolded and extended to form a barrel around his hand. "But I'm not done yet!" In one swift movement, Mike turned his body, charging a lot of force into his make-shift arm-cannon, and the moment the barrel was leveled on Ichiro there was a bright flash from the mouth of the cannon and loud blast as the metal sphere was fired in Ichiro's direction at a startling speed. But Mike wasn't going to bank on that working out entirely, flanking around to the right, however running normally without his quirk, to try and get in close in the meantime.

Why was everything so dark?  Why was the whole world shaking?  Wait...it was normally like that for her.  She opened her eyes, wincing as the harsh lights that she had been looking up to came into view.  Looking around her, she saw that she was in one of the many medical rooms.  In the background, she could hear fiddling through cabinets, and saw Nurse Neko.  Hearing the crinkling of Ino's bed, Neko's ears pricked up.  She turned around with a somber smile.

"Good morning sleepy head!"  She giggled, bounding up to Ino with a smug grin.  "Hey, Hey!  That last thing you did was pretty nyeato!  I didn't know you could rumble like that!  Is it like a setting thingy, nya~?"

Ino looked to Nurse Neko, and then to her curled, vibrating fists atop of the bed's sheets.

"Yeah...something like that."  The nausea was setting in again.  "Although...I've never turned it up that high before.  I'm always afraid of breaking mom's dishes...or causing some panic with a minor tremor...don't want Japan thinking they're getting too many small earthquakes, right?"

Nurse Neko's smug smile turned glum, her ears settling down.

"Quirks are strange things, aren't they?  The world wasn't ready for them...especially a quirk such as yours.  The Quirkless especially can't understand...they're just as afraid as us as we are of misusing our gifts.  You can't choose the quirk you're born with.  You can only hope that it doesn't harm others."  Nurse Neko smiled, pumping up her arms.  "But that's what it means to be a hero!  Knowing how not to use your Quirk when the situation doesn't call for it....making sure others don't get hurt!  That's the true sign of heroism."  With a triumphant glare, Neko looked to Ino again.  However, the girl hadn't looked up from her sheets.  "You know...you're not the only one who has to keep their Quirk under control.  Each time I prick someone with my claws...I have to be sure that I inject the right fluids...I have more than just healing powers.  All these extra chemicals in my body...it took a long time before I could get it right.  I'm sure you will too."  Neko patted Ino's legs, and headed towards the door.  "Let me know if you're hurting anywhere else!  I've got to check up on the others, nya~!"

Ino felt something vibrate, making her jump a bit.  She looked over to the side to notice her phone, alongside her clothes, was rattling on top of the pile.  She went to pick up the phone, with a shaky arm.  She looked at the screen, a text from her mom shown.

"Honey!  That was incredible!  I could feel the shaking from here!  I'm so proud of you!"

Ino's eyes started to well up, as she planted her face into the pillow.  She started smacking the bed with her fists still trembling.

"Damnit...Damnit!"  She grunted into the pillow.

As soon as the girl left, someone else decided to show up.  It was Terro.  His thoughts earlier prompted him to rattle his fist a little, but they calmed down as Terro flashed his smile.  He could hear someone coming in through the door again.  This time, it was that wolf girl...Yurisawa...Sakuyuri...the name escaped him.  She came in, wheeling a cart with many convenience store bags on them.  Were they snacks from the festival?  Gin's stomach growled.

I bought these. They're for the whole class. If you won, have something tasty as a reward. If you lost, maybe something to eat will make you feel a bit better. Don't hog them for yourself; that's what a villain would do.

-Sayuri

"Tch...I know that already."  Gin said, angrily swiping a bag for himself.

"Yo! Nice match you had!  But, what was that girl doing here?  Oh, wait, I think I get it.  You two are trying to start a 're-lations-hip', right?"

The question made Gin perk up a bit, and frown.  Down the hallway, the sounds of footsteps dashing intensely was heard.

"As if, dirt-brain!  I don't have any time for that stuff!  Besides...she's too noisy."

"My grandpa said that's how my parents met, after all. My mom beat the crap out of my dad, and they fell in love and made babies. Well, one baby, anyways," Like Gin cared how Terro was conceived.  He was forcing back so much vomit that it was making his throat sore. "So, you ready for our match? I learned a lot from the week of training! I might just surprise you!"  His pervasive thoughts from earlier began to flare up again, but this time they were materialized into actual speech.

"That was a mistake..."  Gin groaned, his fist tightening.  "You lied to me didn't you?!  That training was just research, wasn't it?!  I should've never shown you how I fight...I should've never asked for your help...that just gives you a one-up on me.  BUT I AIN'T LETTING THAT HAPPEN!  I'M GOING TO WIN THIS WHOLE THING!  I'M GONNA PROVE I'M BETTER THAN YOU!  THAN ANYONE! Gin hadn't noticed, but he was incredibly close to Terro's face, with a finger pointed beneath his chin.  He lowered his finger, avoiding Terro's eye contact.  "I don't need you buttering me up.  You think I'm gonna take it easy on you because you're pretending to be my friend?  As if."  He quickly resumed his earlier pose, sighing.  Trying to get away from this situation, he looked to the girl, who was also trying to get his attention.  He couldn't gather all of it, but she was signing his name, and asking to talk.  Gin nodded, glaring at Terro as he passed by.

As soon as the two were alone, Gin groaned again.

"What do you want, wolfy?"

"As if, dirt-brain!  I don't have any time for that stuff!  Besides...she's too noisy."  Ah, yeah, that was a thing, wasn't it? Gin wouldn't last long with someone loud. Terro then noticed Gin seemed... angry. Well, then again, he was pretty much always angry. Maybe the word was... frustrated? "That was a mistake..."  Gin groaned, his fist tightening.  "You lied to me didn't you?!  That training was just research, wasn't it?!  I should've never shown you how I fight...I should've never asked for your help...that just gives you a one-up on me.  BUT I AIN'T LETTING THAT HAPPEN!  I'M GOING TO WIN THIS WHOLE THING! I'M GONNA PROVE I'M BETTER THAN YOU!  THAN ANYONE!Terro blinked as Gin got very close to his face, with a finger pointed beneath his chin. The finger gun hero lowered said finger, avoiding Terro's eye contact.  "I don't need you buttering me up.  You think I'm gonna take it easy on you because you're pretending to be my friend?  As if."

Terro blinked again as Gin finished his rant. "That makes no sense at all... we're friends. We're supposed to go all out. Holding back is an insult, and I don't insult my friends," He then folded his arms as he looked at Gin. "And you seem to misunderstand the training... Sure, I gave you basic pointers, but I would be superior to you in hand to hand, just as you would be in terms of our quirks and how we can control them," He shrugged. "You had a week of training, while I've been doing my martial arts since I could walk. There's no way I could cram a lifestyle into a week, and I didn't think you thought that either. I figured we were keep doing the training sessions," He turned to leave, shrugging again as he did.

"I hear ya, wanting to win this whole thing. But you're going to have to get past me first, and I won't just hand it over. If I just gave up, then your win would be empty. So let's both go all out, and see who comes out on top,"

Terro was quiet as he walked to the infirmary, rubbing his arm. It still felt kinda funny... maybe he should have it checked. When he got to the room, he quietly opened the door and looked around. Was Ino awake? Was she still out? Looking around the room, he noticed the form of Asuka. He walked over to her, hands behind his head. "Hey Asuka. You here to check on Ino to?" He smiled widely. "I was surprised how much she improved!" He stopped to think. "You did a pretty good job in your fight as well, come to think of it,"

I'm probably overthinking it...

A distraction was a good idea right about now. Something to not think about how easily she'd been beaten, or the texts she'd received after the fight. Asuka turned her attention to the monitors, where the fights were happening. Creed was up against some boy from 1-B, and... the fight was already over. Creed just went down in one hit. At least I didn't do THAT poorly. As much as she wanted to feel an odd sense of satisfaction from watching Creed get decked like that, he was still her classmate. It was only natural to worry just a little bit, right?

Only a little bit though. Definitely not enough to go check up on him. She'd thought about heading to a store nearby - she needed to refill the tank over her back after all - but as she got up yet before she could actually get moving, Asuka was met with a voice clearly aimed at her.

"You lost."

Asuka turned her attention from the monitor. Gin's fight was just starting; she could afford to skip that one. She didn't know much about his opponent, but she knew Gin seemed to have a pretty strong Quirk, and combined with his sheer aggression, he definitely had this in the bag. "Yeah..." Akira, on the other hand, had won his fight with an overwhelming victory. Once he tried, anyway. "Your fight went pretty well, by contrast."

"It was easy. Nails shouldn't get in arguments with hammers, yadda yadda yadda." Akira rose an arm to lazily scratch at the back of his head, staring off into the distance, "How many crystals was that? A few dozen?"

"Fifty crystals. That's the most I can control at once. They've been getting sturdier because I changed my diet a little bit, but that doesn't look like it was enough on its own." To make her point, Asuka created a new crystal, and handed it to Akira. If he'd seen them before, and tried breaking this one, he'd find it quite a bit more difficult than when he first joined the class. "I think if I want to be a hero, I need more than tough crystals. Like martial skills, or something. What do you think, Tomoaki?" Why was she asking him anyway? His Quirk was leagues stronger than hers, and it didn't have the glaring drawback hers had either. Akira could probably become a hero entirely on the merits of his Quirk if he wanted.

Akira took the crystal in his hand, turning it over a few times as he inspected it. Raising his other hand, a matching crystal flickered into existence, albeit glowing a bright gold. She continued rambling about crystal strength, and skills outside her quirk, but he was much more interested in the number. "Fifty. That seems about the same number as your..." Akira paused for a moment, tossing Asuka's crystal back to her and adjusting his sunglasses, "That seems about the same as Bloodstone. If the limit to the number of crystals is a part of the quirk, is it just as easy to manipulate fifty as it is five? What happens if you are controlling fifty of them, and one of them is cut in half?" As he spoke, forty-nine more of the crystal he mimicked appeared around him. If Asuka closely examined his face, she would see his eyebrow scrunch up a bit as the last few appeared, the majority of his expression concealed by his glasses. Suddenly, all fifty of the crystals shattered, showering the two with glowing sparks as his gaze turned back to Asuka. "We both have emitter-type quirks, that can create objects out of a substance only we control, but there are some key differences in the mechanics behind it."

"You can create all sorts of shapes and objects though," Asuka noted. She noticed his eyebrows scrunching up a bit as his "crystal" count got near Asuka's cap of fifty, though it was tough to tell anything besides that. Then the sparks made when his crystals shattered... despite everything, Asuka couldn't help but compare them to fireworks. "All I can do are these. It's good that I can make them on such short notice, but each crystal can only do so much. How does your Quirk work, by the way?"

Akira chuckled to himself, a smaller version of the crystals he had created appearing at the tip of his finger, spinning rapidly in the air. "My quirk doesn't have a limit. Not a physical one, at least." As he passed his hand through the crystal to raise it to his forehead, it fell apart as all his other constructs did after he was finished with them. Tapping his head with his finger, he continued, "It's up here. Every aspect of what I make, every excruciating detail, is determined by me. Except for-" Akira paused abruptly, before removing his sunglasses and wiping the lenses off with the fabric of his hoodie. Though they were nowhere near as bright as during his fight with Blink, they still glowed a subtle gold, matching the color of his quirk. "You are underestimating the applications of your quirk. She didn't become as notable as she did just by throwing rocks around. You lost because you let that girl get close to you. Viewing your quirk as nothing more than projectiles or the occasional barrier is holding you back." He looked her in the eyes for a moment, a small amount of interest visible past the boredom, before putting his sunglasses back on. "I'm the first fight this next round. I should probably find out who I'm against. Blink caught me off guard, it's not happening again." Turning away from her, he made a vague wave before walking away down the hall.

"...understood," Asuka muttered, more to herself than anything.

iU8EggM.png

Later, after Terro and Ino's fight...

"You are underestimating the applications of your quirk. She didn't become as notable as she did just by throwing rocks around. You lost because you let that girl get close to you. Viewing your quirk as nothing more than projectiles or the occasional barrier is holding you back."

From the short conversation Asuka had had with Akira earlier, that phrase in particular seemed to stick in her thoughts for some reason. The applications of my Quirk would be... Was she really being too narrow in how she viewed her Quirk? For all the stories she'd heard from Hitomi about her mother, she didn't recall any mention of the woman doing anything particularly unique with her Quirk. Just projectiles and the occasional barrier, like what Akira said was holding her back. Then again, he also said we both have emitter-type Quirks. Could I do something like that? Create new and unique things with my crystals? "It's all up here", he said. I'll have to keep that sort of thing in mind when I make crystals in the future. Right now, however, Asuka had other matters to see to.

Ino's fight was one that she didn't win. Which, to be honest, Asuka had somewhat expected. Terro was quite the formidable opponent after all - the Kashyyyk incident alone was enough to confirm that to her - so without a Quirk that was directly suited for fighting, like Ichiro's or Gin's, beating him had to be pretty tough. It would have been an even bigger surprise if she didn't lose, but for her to lose consciousness like that...

"Hey Asuka. You here to check on Ino too? I was surprised how much she improved! You did a pretty good job in your fight as well, come to think of it."

Speaking of Terro, here he was now! Here to check up on Ino apparently. "I didn't do all that well," Asuka answered. "Valerie got in close to me, and then I couldn't do anything to get her away. If it was you fighting her instead, she'd have a much tougher time winning the fight." What with his powerful Quirk and apparently skills in close-ranged combat. The gi for a costume made a lot more sense when she thought about it that way. "So..." An awkward silence hung in the air for a bit. Uh-oh. What do I even talk about with Terro? I've barely even spoken to him! His Quirk controls the earth around him, so something about the environment maybe?? But he's also a martial artist I think; something about fighting? But what if he's sick of those kinds of topics? I really don't know!

"...did you know that there are 500,000 earthquakes every year that can be recorded with the proper instruments? But we can only feel 100,000 of them, and only about a hundred of those cause damage."

Why did I say that? It's not wrong or anything but...

"What do you want, wolfy?"

Sayuri took down another bite of yakitori - it was nearly gone at this point - before setting the treat down so she could properly communicate. Indeed, she'd come here with a purpose. Gin was generally very noisy, as he once again demonstrated with his earlier rant about how he's going to win the whole thing and wasn't having any of that "friends" nonsense. You tell him! Even if I think you should get along with your classmates. However, his generally-raised voice wasn't what Sayuri was here to talk about. She had other things in mind.

The thing is, I wanted to talk to you specifically because you're the most... Sayuri stopped signing for a bit, to think of the right word. ...upfront. Normally I'd talk to Isami instead, but my instinct tells me if I've got an issue he'll just say what would make me feel good or otherwise dodge the question. So I wanted to ask you instead: How hard should a person work to get their family's approval? Sorry that this is kind of out of the blue, but it's been bugging me since we went to the Kashyyyk District.

That, and that big red guy. But we can talk about him some other time.

As he saw the two clones attack him, Isami quickly transformed into a normal sized snake, dodging both of the attacks. However, as he prepared to regrow and counter attack, the original Shin had launched a series of ninja stars at him. Isami tried to dodge the onslaught of stars coming his way, but two of the six had managed to hit him. Luckily, one of them had only grazed his cheek a bit, but the other one had struck right on his tail, leaving a notable gash on the side of it. Isami winced in pain, before turning into a much larger snake, launching himself upward to try and attack the red clone.

The red shin had seen this coming, raising his arms to block the uppercut. Meanwhile, the Yellow Shin would be found laughing. "Ooooohhhh! Nice hit there, Snake Guy!" The red shin, however, didn't seem to find anything about the situation funny.

"WHO'S SIDE ARE YOU ON, IDIOT?!" The Red Shin shouted. Meanwhile, Isami turned back into his small snake, constricting around the Red Shin's arms. "THE HELL?! OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!" Red Shin shouted, which only seemed to make the Yellow Shin laugh more. "Quit your laughing...AND HELP ME, YOU IDJIT!!"

"Okie dokie!" Yellow Shin said happily, as he begins to try and grab a hold of Isami's tail.

"Careful! He's been crafty thus far." The Original Shin simply said, making his way towards the group. Things weren't looking very good for Isami, as he felt the Red Shin's attempts to break free. Not thinking much about it, he tried to swipe his tail at the Yellow Shin.

"Hehehe, oooohhh he sure is feisty!!" Yellow Shin laughed as he moved some and kept trying to grab at Isami. "Hold him still, will ya?"

"DON'T YOU THINK I'M TRYING!?" the Red Shin shouted in a furious manner. As Isami continued to try and swipe at the Yellow Shin, his hold on the Red Shin was starting to weaken. It didn't take much longer for the Red Shin to break away from Isami's hold, causing him to drop to the ground. "Okay, that's it! I'm steppin' on this dumb thing!" Red Shin shouts, preparing to step on Isami. He froze as he saw the foot approach him, his life flashing before his eyes. However, the foot suddenly stopped.

"NO! We'll kill him if we do that!" Yellow Shin protested.

The Original Shin sighed as he moved and reached down to grab Isami. "He's right. Killing isn't the best way to be a hero, nor win the tournament." he sighed. Isami was in too much shock to protest as the boy grabbed the snake. He turned to look at the Shin that was holding him, his eyes filled with fear. At least he hadn't been stepped on.

"Not bad, you almost got me there! But I'm not done yet!"

Ichiro was impressed that Mike was able to get over the slab, but then again, with the speed he was showing, it didn't surprise him in the least. What DID surprise him, however...was the wrist-brace on his costume's arm now forming into what looked like a barrel.

"I-Is that..." Ichiro said, watching Mike charging a literal arm cannon. "You have a freaking cannon?!"

"Jeez...the things these kids think of with their costumes..." Rei muttered, now at the edge of his seat, watching his brother's fight.

Soon there was a bright flash of green light emitted from the mouth of the cannon and a loud blast was heard, as what looked like a metal sphere was shot in his direction...at quite the startling speed. This was not something he was expecting in the slightest. Still, he didn't want to lose...

Ichiro dodge to his left, rolling a bit as he watched the metal sphere just whizzing by in quite the ungodly fashion. He clenched his fists some as he looked at Mike, doing his best to flank the right side, before exhaling slowly. ...I need you guys to hold out a bit longer. he thought, lifting his right fist again. 5%...middle of the palm. C'MON!!!

"ATLAS....IMPACT!!!!!" Ichiro slammed his fist down into the arena, making it shake quite a bit as a huge crevice started emerging straight from the point of impact, all the way in the direction of Mike. He began to grit his teeth slightly, feeling his fist being slightly hurt right now. But right now, he needed to do something against Mike. Cause it looked like he was pulling out ALL the stops.

Shin held Isami, just staring at the simple snake form he had chosen for a bit. "Truth be told, this was far more easier than I initially thought it would be. But, an easy win is better than none. Time to throw you out of the ring and win this match."

Before Shin could throw the snake out of the ring, Isami finally pulled himself together from being in sheer shock and confusion. He realized what was going on now and immediately bit Shin to get him to let go.

The bite made contact, causing Shin's hand to reel back from the slight pain of the snake bite. Of course, from the reeling back, he succeeded in tossing Isami behind him, causing him to land back on the arena.

"Hey boss man...you threw it in the wrong direction." the Yellow Shin giggled, before being hit in the back of the head by the Red Shin.

"He wasn't throwing it. PAY ATTENTION!"

It was a few moments as Isami did his best to get his bearings back after landing back on the arena. However, he began to slither towards Shin, transforming from his snake form to the half snake one he had at the start of the fight. He would try tackling Shin out of the arena...if he gets close enough without interruption, that is.

Isami did try to tackle Shin, but the Yellow Shin saw what was going and immediately yanked the other's arm and switch places with him. Yellow Shin was hit as he groaned, before flying out of the ring, hitting the ground. Once he hit the ground, however, he vanished in a puff of yellow smoke.

"Tch! You sneaky bastard!" Red Shin will shout, preparing to strike at Isami. However...he immediately found himself being halted in his tracks by...what seemed to be sand. "THE HELL?!"

Shin sighed, glancing over at the stands to see Suna now standing up with Mako doing the same, crossing his arms in what seemed like a disgusted look.

Isami heard Red shout and braced himself, only to be surprised when nothing hit him. He would look around the place in confusion
"W-What's going on?"

"Attacking him now would be pointless." Suna simply said, before recalling the sand from around the Red Shin.

Mako growled and threw his hands up in the air. "APPARENTLY...your clone hit the ground outside the arena, Lee! And APPARENTLY that still counts!!"

"ARE...YOU...KIDDING ME?!" Red Shin shouted with rage. "THAT DAMNED YELLOW BASTARD!!!"

Shin began to face palm at this revelation, as he looked at the Red Shin, who now vanished in a puff of smoke. "So this means...you've won the battle." he clenched his fists, before sighing greatly. "I let my guard down...and because of that, my Happiness decided to want to make sure I didn't take the fall."

Isami was still trying to process everything that had just happened. "I... I won...? I WON!" He said excitingly, jumping a bit in excitement. He made his way towards Shin and extended his hand for a handshake. "That was a good match, Shin!" He smiled at the boy.

Shin was reluctant to shake hands with Isami for a good while, but he finally sighed and met the snake boy's hand and shook it firmly. He lowered the cloth mask on his face and smiled slightly. "Adaptable. Won't lie to you, Isami was it? You have the makings of a great ninja."

Isami rubs the back of his head with his other hands. "Thanks!"

Shin gave a slight, "Hmph" as he moved and walked away. "Hopefully I'll fight you again."

Isami nods in agreement, before turning to take a look at the crowd.

Gin eyed the girl as she started signing.  He kept along rather well.  After all, while most people thought he was just writhing in hatred for his classmates all period, he payed rather close attention in all of his classes.  He mainly just focused his anger on the pencil he was writing with at the time...they never lasted a day.

The thing is, I wanted to talk to you specifically because you're the most... Sayuri paused her signing.  He didn't appreciate the hesitation, groaning a bit for the girl to get on with it.

The question made his stomach churn.  He gripped his head, eyeing the girl again with only one exposed eye.

"Parents Approval huh?"  He said, through grit teeth.  "Who needs that sheet.  I know I live perfectly fine, day to day, without having my parents be proud of me.  Hell...I know they aren't proud of me.  I don't know what my mom thinks of me anyway.  We haven't talked in so long.  She just sits at home all day...locked away in her room...Heroes leave a bad taste in her mouth, you know.  She's Quirkless.  And my old man...I prefer what the trash on the bottom of my heel thinks of me.  That guy can rot in his jail cell for all I care."  He had closed his eye some time ago, and just realized that he had made this all too personal.  The girl asked a simple question, and here he was, spewing his guts.

"What I mean to say is...I'm my own person.  I don't need anyone else's approval but my own.  Sure, you might love your parents, but you don't need their approval.  If your parents were Villains, would you want their approval?  It's not a damned requirement for a kid to get that on their checklist of accomplishments.  The one's that seek that kinda stuff in the first place...everyone's approval...they're the worst kind of people in this world, Wolfy."  Gin reached into his doggie bag he had received to pull out his own yakitori, and took a big bite off the tip.  "Is that all you wanted...my blunt opinion on your house life.  You must've been desperate, huh?"

"I didn't do all that well," Asuka answered Terro's cheerful greeting. "Valerie got in close to me, and then I couldn't do anything to get her away. If it was you fighting her instead, she'd have a much tougher time winning the fight." Terro tilted his head at her. Tougher time winning the fight? What was that supposed to mean? It was quiet for awhile, with only the sounds of Ino breathing filling the air. Finally, Asuka spoke up.  "...did you know that there are 500,000 earthquakes every year that can be recorded with the proper instruments? But we can only feel 100,000 of them, and only about a hundred of those cause damage."

"Really? I never knew that. I usually lose track after sensing the 30th one...," He paused as he stroked his chin before adding without a hint of sarcasm. "And I think you did very well in the tournament,"

"Doing well would constitute winning despite an unfavorable situation," Asuka rebutted. "Even if I managed to hurt my opponent a bit, it was still an overwhelming loss since my weaknesses in that fight were easy for Valerie to exploit."

"Well, let me ask you something, what is a tournament?" Terro looked over to her. "What is the purpose of one, what are you supposed to do in one?"

"The purpose of a tournament is to compete, and so somebody participating in one should aim to win."

"See, I suppose that would be true, if that was the actual case," Terro commented. "I feel bad for people that think that, to see that's all this means to them... Let me ask you another question. Did you learn anything today?"

"My weaknesses in a fight are easy to exploit," Asuka answered. Pointing to the mask resting around her neck, specifically at the cords sticking out of it, she explained "These can be ripped out by anyone who gets in close enough to grab them, then the tank over my back gets drained of its contents. That makes longer fights difficult, or even shorter ones depending on the circumstances. Extreme heat, for instance."

"And you learned that in this fight. By crossing fists with another person, you've learned something that training on your own wouldn't show you, not easily, that is," Terro explained. "And that's what it's all about. A tournament is a place where you do your best, where you fight to your limits, where you find those limits. It's where you meet new people, make new friends, learn new styles, and improve your own. In the end, the prize, first place, if that's all you aim for, is empty,"

"I could learn that just by training with other people in non-tournament fights though," Asuka countered.

"Sure, however, would you be able to gather such a variety of different fighters in a non-tournament setting?" Terro looked over to the window. "Do you think you could even find half these people?"

"Well, no..." Terro wasn't wrong. "But still! Ideally, somebody should be able to learn more about their limits and still win."

"Well, you know what they say. You learn more from a loss than a win," Terro said. "And that's what's great about tournaments. It's not some honor duel, or a fight to the death, where finding these limits could be life altering or fatal,"

"If you say so." The more Asuka was engaged in this conversation, the more it felt like she was the one with the wrong perspective. But that wasn't the case at all, right? "As for your fights, what do you expect for the next round?"

Terro chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head. "I just know for a fact Gin and I are going to go all out. I seemed to have made him mad about something. So I'm just going to have to go all out to beat him," He sighed. "I honestly don't know if I can win or not,"
