CP17-JP005 EM五虹の魔術師 Entermate Gokou no Majutsushi / Performapal Five-Arc Magician
Level 1 LIGHT Spellcaster-Type Pendulum Effect Monster
ATK 100
DEF 100
Pendulum Scale: 12
Pendulum Effect:
(1) You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except from your Extra Deck. This effect cannot be negated.
(2) Apply these effects for each player based on the number of cards they have Set in their Spell & Trap Zones.
• 0: Monsters they control cannot attack, also their effects cannot be activated.
• 4 or more: The ATK of monsters they control become double their original ATK.
Monster Effect:
(1) If this card is in your Graveyard, if a Spell/Trap Card is Set to your field: You can place this card from your Graveyard to your Pendulum Zone.

Note: We’re calling it Five-Arc Magician because we think the name is a play on ARC-V (Arc Five) as Rainbow in French is Arc-en-Ciel

00f i'm super impressed, you can dump this with brilliant fusion and effectively search it. Pendulum restriction is a little harsh but u can link summon beforehand. Supreme King Gates or Servant Odd-eyes set this up as far as pendulum summoning from Extra and it grab Brilliant Fusion too

Goofy stuff as a floodgate cause they gonna set cards before normal summoning so you can POP POP them with (imaginary format incoming) TORNADO DRAGON. True Draco still have outs tho 00F

Huh, so you can't even attempt to P-Summon if you're going for its pendulum effect...

(i mean, granted, with its restriction you won't be p-summoning a lot anyway, but it is amusing that it's EFFECT also hinders you from P-Summoning)

Is this the only Performapal Magician, or am I forgetting something?

No, you are right (though I was unshure they would keep it), similar to the performapal odd-eyes hybrids, this monster is a performapal magician hybrid (and the only of its kind) and thus searchable by pendulum call, pendulum wizard etc.

Uhh, kaiju the denko.

Yeah, or just summon something with a continuous effect that gets around it somehow. Summoning Jinzo would allow you to MST the 5-arc magician and then beat over the denko. Summoning something that was unaffected by Spell effects would also work. Point is, it's a funny/memey situation that a lot of decks wouldn't be prepared for. Not at all good, just funny.

Anyway, just wondering: could the text saying 4+ (rather than just 4) be hinting at a legacy format using pre-link rules?

My biggest complaint with this card is how intentionally "funk pendulum" it's designed.

Like, there's a very easy way to change the anti-hand effect: Make it only able to summon pendulums.

The only unatainable Pendulum Monsters this grants access to are Zefraath (good luck making ppal/magician zebras), Daibak, Galileo, and Laplace. This keepos any "I PENDULUM SUMMON TRAINS REEE" memes out, while not making the card punish the mechanic instead of work with it.

ED monsters don't really count, because they need to be stupidly good as Pendulums in order to purposely make them scales, which defeats the point of this.
