Quarreling Quails
EARTH
Level 2
[Winged-Beast/Effect]
ATK/ 1000 DEF/ 0

Once per turn, the turn player can Special Summon1 "Quail Token"(Winged Beast-Type/ EARTH/ Level 2/ ATK 1000 /DEF 0)  to their opponent's side of the field in Attack Position. This Token cannot be used as Link, or Synchro Material for a Summon. While a player controls the most monsters, including at least 1 "Quail" monster, on the field they apply these effects (if tied, both players apply these effects).

  • "Quail" monsters your opponent controls gain ATK equal to 1000x number "Quail" monsters you control.
  • "Quail" monsters your opponent controls cannot be destroyed by battle or card effect.

Part of the wording is confusing (the Synchro/Link thing after the Token specs seems random), and how much ATK is the first effect giving? Other than that, there are no other Quail monsters in the actual game, so...you'll have to use this to really generate anything.

I'll give this a better review later once stuff is cleared up.

The parenthetical part after the Tokens typing/ ATK and DEF is seen on a few examples I've seen from other Tokens addressed in the actual game for example:  http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Dragonecro_Nethersoul_Dragon  and  http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Number_C43:_High_Manipulator_of_Chaos.... Although the more I look at these, Konami only seems to approach it that way when they need to give detail about how its stats rather than additional effects. The effect is supposed to stop players from easily shortening their field numbers, and stack tokens on to each other's fields.

Now about the ATK gain: I was indecisive at the time and I accidentally deleted how much the monster should have gained, but now I've made that edit in what I thought would be "reasonable".

Finally, the nonexistence of other archetype members... Well you see I thought that Tokens with a part of there name enlisted as a member of an "archetype" gets the benefits as being a classed as a monster of the "archetype". So in essence this card and its Tokens are the only members of the archetype for now... So the idea is that you get this card started by its own Token effect, and maybe other things to dump more monsters onto your opponent's side of the field. The concept of the card in itself is about a social ground bird known as a California Quail https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_quail, but instead of what most quails would naturally do these ones fight their own in a family feud hence the "Quarreling" part of the consonance.

If you want this effect to see full value, I suggest you make its effect mandatory. Otherwise, your opponent's likely noy going to Summon any Tokens to your side of the field. And I guess it's nice that they can be treated as Link Material. However, you don't have to state that for Synchro. Unless it says "cannot be used as a Synchro Material", you should be able to Synchro Summon with them. The last effects are fine, but I suggest you make the Token Summoning effect mandatory for both players to generate Tokens.

Ohhh no I see where I genuinely messed up... You see it is actually suppose to be that these Tokens cannot be used as a Synchro material or Link material.

OK, my revised review based on changes:

  • Tokens are only Tribute / Fusion fodder; well, that's enough to field clog them.
  • Stat boost is fine, though unless you can force the opponent to have multiple Quail Tokens on the field, this card isn't going to get really big (well, neither will any Tokens your opponent might force onto your field). Well, you need to protect this card in order to do it, so...
    • Still, if you can force the Tokens onto the opponent's field, you essentially have a free way to damage the opponent (though conversely, opponent can do the same back).

So yeah, it's still acceptable.
