Woop woop I'm bringing this up again

It just went into open beta on xbox1 and PS4, iirc. 

We get a new patch every couple of weeks, and this last one we got a new champ and a new map. 

If you like Overwatch and MOBAs, you'll probably like Paladins. 

Also there's tonnes of Husbando / Waifu material in here.

Q: What makes this different from Overwatch?

A: no hero switching. You play as 1 hero for the whole match. Also, there's items you can buy. Also also, this is free

 

Q: Okay, so it's fundamentally different from OW, I guess. How does it play differently?

A: There's, atm, 3 game modes. Seige, which is like hybrid maps, Payload, which next-to no one plays, and Survival, AKA team death match. 

Seige is the most popular mode, and the first team to 4 points win. You start out by capturing a point, and after the point is captured, the team that cap'd tries to escort a payload. 

Payload is almost exactly like OW payload, except that it's not very popular and  there's no checkpoints, only a flat 7 min time limit. Also the maps are significantly smaller than OW.

Survival is a best of 5 5v5 deathmatch. The more kills, the better. 

 

Q:Is this even popular enough to make a thread about?

A: There's a rapidly growing Esports scene, and possibly well known youtuber Alpharad actually prefers this game to it's often compared "counterpart" Overwatch. 

 

Q:You said it's free to play, but is it pay to win?

A: No. the real money purchases are mostly cosmetic. You don't start with all the champions unlocked, but they're pretty easy to acquire because they can be bought with in game currency that you get from playing games.

 

Q: Where did this game come from?

A: You know that MOBA Smite? Yeah, the same people made Paladins. Hi-Rez studios, in case you don't want to google it. 

 

Q: Where can I get this game?

A: It's available on Steam, if you like that. You can also directly download it if you don't have steam. Also the consoles just got public release as I mentioned at the top.  

 

 

Now, I'm going to list my favorite champion from each class.

 

Support: Grohk (#BluBae)

Frontline: Inara (Stone Waifu)

Damage: Kinessa (Sniper made Flanker)

Flanker: Tossup between Evie (EvieBestTank) or Buck (Bouncy Husbando)

Im currently working up in ranked so Im playing all my champions. My fav of all is Viktor though.

 

Lucky they just fixed the comp rankings too. I only like hipfire viktor. 

 

This game is so awesome, it's a great mobashooter and the card system's cool. I'm mido9 ingame.

 

Oh yeah, I should probably say that my IGN is AezDvoid.

 I am reminded at how much I suck at these type of games. Can't aim at all at moving targets. After trying a lot of things, I'm stuck using Ying and her kamikaze clones.

 

You may wanna try torvald. He's got a symmetra laser primary fire. Also Willo, the newest champ, has a pretty easy to hit q. Also her prim fire is aoe. and her alt too. 

I'm still pissed at Hi-Rez for dropping Global Agenda. Loving the potion mouse though.

 

Pip is my least favorite support simply because everyone plays him like a flanker. And I don't like that.

I dont know what you mean by flanker with your MOBA lingo. But Im very much equal healing and damage and use the jump to give myself space. I'd like to think its how he's intended to be played.

I mean that people play him like a char from the flank class. Yes, he can be a dps, but he also has the heals that everyone needs. Too many times have I played with a pip who hogs his own heals because he doesnt like playing like a support.

I mean last night I went 53-3 as my k/d for him and my team barely died. The way I see it, his heal sticks around for a small bit so I have time to toss it into a group of allies and run in for the heal myself. Nevermind that I'm usually already in with the Conquistador character so the point is moot and that modifiable cooldown on the heal per target it hits anyway... I can DPS and Heal my team for all the damage.

 

Nevermind the pushes on my brag though. Freaking peoples.

Torvald is nice thanks. His 1.5 second disarm duration is way too short though I need more Dust to make it longer.

Yeah, it's really short. Having it longer is nice, but it's not worth imo because of field study (increase dmg by 40% on the person you q on while it's active). 

 

Wound up playing that Flamethrowing Tank Conquistador character and did really really well as him.

 

Yeah, Fernando is probably the most basic of the tanks. I say that, yet he's actually one of the more aggressive tanks. Flanknando is a thing. Try it sometime.
