Sooo, summon Editor, who summons Andabatae, who summons Gyazarus, then overlay Editor and Andabatae into Hope Harbinger. Seems legit.

Nice imaginary format where these guys exist and Links don't

Although it's fair to say these are really good effects in non-Link context.

However there is more to the story!

Current Org translation of Andabatae is as follows:

(1) If this card is Special Summoned this way: You can Special Summon 1 Level 7 or lower”Gladiator Beast” Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions.

Not even your pre-Link meems are safe!

Augustus just got nerfed way too hard.it just lost its battle phase effect to make up for its low ATK, and also restricts its SS effect to be triggered only if summoned via contact fusion, per se. can't even SS lv8 monsters for rank8 plays.

Also Editor's burn effect, why??? Not to mention its 2nd effect, is that even necessary when asides from tygerius and andal i think, all of the GB monsters are already capable of tagging out of the field, given that they already battled at that turn? unless there's a translation error or perhaps I misunderstood its effect...

I mean, are these two released just for swarming purposes only? different applications, but they almost got the same effect, only to SS! Somehow they looked like less of a GB monster and more of a meta swarm cliché for me. diversity, lost. xD

*not to mention that we're in the Links era now. oh snap!

Well, it lets itself shuffle back into the extra.  Also, it lets you re-summon the same GB you shuffled (since you can't normally do that), but yeah I think most times that effect'd be pretty redundant.

oh. aside from letting itself shuffle back at the ED, i think it should already be a given effect for all GB monsters! (staring hard at Essedarii and Heraklinos)

-anyway, thanks for pointing out the part where it could resummon the same monster, that's actually quite neat! oh well, at least this card along with Andabatae could finally release Gaiodiaz from its eons of sleep. xD

*i hope with this, konami would have the decency to release those GB spells and traps, especially Test Fusion to make these two more playable!

I kinda wanna tech a Lemuria so that 2 Murmillos can become Tamer Editor.

I'd also like to tech in a random Inverse Universe as a surprise for Andabatae.

Well, clearly you are meant to use Andabatae to go for Gysarus and then have them become Tamer Editor, who in turn brings out another Fusion. This mass tag out exchange reminds me a bit of the exchange in monsters Zoodiac Beasts have with their Xyzs.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just realized why Andabatae irritated me so much. It doesn't have its anime "if another GB gets shuffled, this monster gains the ATK of the shuffled monster" clause. I mean, I suppose I understand why (there's probably some really stupid exploit), but surely there was a limitation that could have been slapped on it to prevent shenanigans.

I imagine that it would be because you could shuffle two or more GBs into the deck and suddenly he's a 3k+ beater who grabs other GB fusions.  If it was once per turn then yeah, you're right.  It wouldn't have gotten too big too fast.  Just a guess tho since I can't--for whatever reason--find the exact anime effect.
