To be honest, Norden kind of deserved it. A shame, because I kind of liked it, but its normal Summon condition was pretty terrible, making Instant Fusion the only practical way of using it, and if Instant Fusion got hit, the card was essentially banned because it'd be too hard to use without Super Poly or Instant Fusion.

 

Terrortop, I hear was a problem, but never really looked much at it.

 

Grass Looks Greener is a stupid card, though an amusing concept.

 

Oh cool, they gave us back the Pendulum Magician stuff...which will be nearly worthless when Link rules hit the TCG.

Huh.  This banlist came out of nowhere. Welp, I guess Predaplants and Brilliant Fusion are the main engines now.  Is this liable to be the last banlist before Links? (when are Links coming to TCG again?)  If so, I'm surprised Gofu and the aforementioned engines weren't semi'd.

The Norden hit is fantastic. The draw loops Zoo had were the worst things of the format. I don't really like the Top hit and I'd have prefered it being Barrage, but I know Konami doesn't want to hit them directly. Grass hit is fine. Magicians cards at 3 is beauty.

To be fair, Norden's Fusion material requirements enables plays with Zoodiacs and Fusion Substitute.

I find amusing how they chose to Limiting Lawnmowing, while OCG still has it at 3 and lets Ash Blossom keep it on check.

 

Anyway, isn't this practically an emergency banlist? The previous one was on March/April, not that long ago.

 I get what you mean, because of their change on "banlists no longer will have fixed dates", but still, dropping one after 2 months is relatively soon, plus it is such a short list.

Ah yeah, I will miss Norden and the Toadally Bahamut plays it enables. It's a big hit to many decks, including my silly Rank4 Ice Barrier deck that I have around xD

I don't think it's any good anymore, even for the lower tiers.

This is what I was hoping for.  Burn Barrage and Ratpier and I'd honestly be satisfied.  I'm cool with the Norden hit too (because it was literally everywhere), but I wouldn't have prioritized it over straight up punishing Zoos.

Rat is already semi'd. The card is fine. Barrage is still unfair, Drident arguably so, but not Rat.

 

Performapal was a best deck in the past, and it's recent wave of support made it actually fun to play again and coherent.

Context.  I said straight punishing Zoos (as in directly).  Taking away Norden (and for a lot of variants Terrortop) effectively cuts 7~ cards and a lot of combos from their deck.  Not to mention Fusion Substitute.

Seriously???  2 days AFTER the regionals I am going to???  Shoulda made it start June 1... Then I wouldn't have to deal with this s*** again.  

 

Should've limited Emeral as well.  That way Zoos (or anything else) can't continuously recycle it.

With Zoo's it would be fine if Barrage and Drident were limited special with 2 or more dridents on the field was crazy for continuous card popping.

 

Still in addition to this "The next update after this will be no sooner than August, 2017." So were getting another banlist in around 2 months after this one which might be the sort out for the Link Format.

Am more so referring to the fact that you can continuously summon drident turn after turn or with the combo you mentioned. Just saying with its effect Drident limited to 1 would be one way of balancing. Plus the deck as lots of ways to recycle Xyzs like Emerald for example.

I assume you have never heard of the Fusion Substitiute into +5 10 minute Zoo combo featuring Norden, cause frankly it was the nail in the coffin.

 

It's a shame Norden had to die, though tbh we all knew this old bastard had it coming. Rogues are just gonna switch to stuff like Rare Fish and Raidjin now if they still care about IF, but Zoos deserve nothing else anymore until their determined death date. This could have been avoided if Konami was aware about the stupidity of the Fusion Sub combo and looping Rat. "We're gonna bump down Rat to 2 because we don't want y'all to have easy 1 card combos, but we'll allow you to keep Norden so you can rely on Instant Fusion to get back that Rat k"? 

 

Deck's still gonna be a pain in the ass as long as Rat, Broadbull and Drident exist. They might try to do shenanigans with stuff like Scorpio, BF, or Zephyros, but spiciness only leads to more easy counters.

 

Grass hit I'm pretty salty about though. I guess it was to level out the playing ground or just to make 60 card decks more fair? Still kinda is lame to remove Paleos and Infernoids out of the top meta pool after the narrowing of meta diversity here.
