Should "Makyura the Destructor" come back to one

Recommended Posts

Monster|Effect] Warrior/Dark

[★★★★] 1600/1200

During the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard, you can activate Trap Cards from your hand.

No one runs enough traps now in day, but can this card come back? One, two , or three?

I still hate the Temple errata. I'd much rather it stay banned and they release a weaker alternative instead of changing the card itself so much. Maybe because I have a stronger base with MtG than YGO so this kind of heavy errata to change the actual ability and not just fit new rules and wording changes is so odd to me.

Changing the effect to just 1 trap (and nothing else) will ruin the card, you will have little to no control of what you want to activate if the opponent manages to play around it.

A good errata (to me at least), or a good weaker version could be once it hits the GY you can use the 1 trap at anytime as long as it is there, that could be once per duel or once per copy while grave (d hero dasher).

But regardless of an errta as it is now it only promotes degenerate decks, you said it, most of the "Real" decks run little to no traps these days.

This could come back to 1 unerrata'd and be fine. Of competitive Decks, Paleozoics would make the most of this and they already have Opabinia which does the same thing but better.

At 1, this is not enough to break Exodia or even make it particularly relevant, given that:

1) First turn opening hands are now 5 as opposed to 6 making it significantly harder to FTK, and if you can't FTK you'll lose to a negation body if not an outright OTK.

2) Most draw Traps are 1-for-1 aside from Reckless Greed (which should be Limited given how it interacts with itself).

3) You'll need an Armageddon Knight/Foolish Burial/Mathematician to dump this (which could totally get Ash Blossomed causing you to more or less lose instantly due to reason 1)), and if it does work you have 4 cards left to work with to make 5 Exodia pieces, which will generally result in you losing due to reason 1).

4) This isn't Traditional where Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Painful Choice and Limit Reversed Disk Commanders are an option.

If you actually test Makyura at 1 with all else equal you should see what I mean.
