Hi!

I'm not really new to this site, but I guess I'm kinda new to the forums. So, hi!

I'll mainly be looking around Advanced for cool ideas and reading and judging them, and posting my own card in Casual because I'm insecure about their balance.

I had a few little questions which I know aren't for this forum so just dismiss these and just send me where I do need to ask them if I'm a hassle!

1 Do I understand it right if I say the only difference between Casual and Advanced card design is that the grammar and balance aren't judged as strictly and the critique is more focused on "Is the card fun to play around with" than "What would this do in the meta"?

2 No one seems to be recognising my existance except Sakura, is that because my posts and Topics are unappealing or because I'm new here. I've already seen most new people struggle with this problem and are put off by it. So I just wanted to know wether it was my inability to make a post people liked or just a normal process!

Welcome aboard Ninja. I'm Yui, the guy you won't see much of outside of RP.

Normally I'd have a paragraph here that boils down to making sure to read the rules and if you have any questions you can direct them to a moderator, but my back is killing me today so I'm gonna skip that. Don't wanna type it all today. I don't really go to CC much, but I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

You should still aim for balance and good grammar, but I'm pretty sure it should be fine as long as we know what you're trying to make the card do. Being fun and being impactful of the meta aren't mutually exclusive either, though the "is this fun/what does this do in the meta" comparison is pretty accurate despite that. Casual you basically do whatever (after making sure to put joke/experimental cards in the right place of course), but in Advanced you need to design with the current meta in mind.

That's normal in CC. The section is fairly active as far as threads being posted go last I heard, but in terms of people getting replies, the site is a desolate, barren wasteland unless things have changed lately.

Questions having been answered, welcome again. Be good, don't make an ass of yourself, and most importantly, have fun! You're here forever now; might as well get comfy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I apologize. Your name sounds familiar, but I don't think I recognize you. Otherwise, welcome to YCM and enjoy your stay. I hope people treat you well and help with your adjustment here. The forum can be a little bit all over the place, but it fairly welcoming to most people so don't be discouraged. Get engaged in any part of the forum and you're more than likely to find some friend around the corners. Enjoy!

Yui technically answered your questions, but as CC mod, I'll give you a more definitive answer.

1. Advanced is intended to be catered more towards competitive aspects of the game (or in general, can it survive the power creep or is actually going to be playable in the format?); that, and the design is supposed to be better. We do have instances of members trying to go overboard with Links (see the attempts at Link 5 and above); nothing wrong with designing them, but those ideas would be better in a few months once the game gets used to the new changes and we're further into VRAINS.

Casual still requires you to design properly, but we won't be biting you as much about competition (or in theory, shouldn't). A lot of members either don't play competitively, know the format and/or are returning from hiatus and aren't aware of new changes, so not really fair to force these types of players into knowing the meta right off the bat. It's also somewhere you can post newer concepts. So yeah, you're more/less free to post legacy stuff and all.

2. It happens a lot with new members. Considering we get a moderately high number of them in general and many of them don't stick around for a while, you have to do something that shows us you have the potential to stick around.

CC does get daily threads, but yeah, replies are usually dead (either the usual members bump stuff, or the replies come about). Singles doesn't have this problem to the same extent, but it exists.

(Other TCG is even more dead to be honest, though the guys who post there generally know what they're doing anyway [mostly MtG guys].)

================

But yeah, make sure you read the site rules (and the general stuff) so you know what's expected. Like I noted above, try to do something that makes us notice you more (that doesn't mean do something to get on the mod radar [negatively]).

Anyway, enjoy your stay.
