Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

So I OHKOed Totem Araquanid with Flying Z-Move.  Kinda worried about the Fire Trial at the moment since I don't have a decent Water Type right now.  Not sure which to get.

Team as it currently stands:

Dartrix, Lv 27

Pikachu Lv25

Growlithe Lv25

Sylveon Lv25

A. Grimer Lv25

Rockruff Lv25

4 of them are weak to Ground, though probably will box Rockruff for a Water-Type since I wanna evolve it at the right time.

On your team two of you Pokemon should have super effective moves vs. a Ghost/Fire type.

PokeBank apparently got updated to work with Ultra Sun and Moon, so...if you want to transfer Synchronize stuff (and whatever else without having to individually trade with self and all, it's open).

Also stuff about "you can't transfer 'mons that aren't available in S/M's coding and all".

===

But yeah, I may need to import a few things here and there.

Hey guys, since Bank is up, I thought I should tell those that don't know that you can access the elevator at the Tide Song hotel to go to the third floor, and in the room immediately on the left you can find an old man who will give you a Snorlium Z, Mewnium Z, or Marshadium Z if you show him the mons that can use them.

I found that out earlier when I first got to Tide Song, but yeah, that'll be of some use later. Just have to import Mew over and some other stuff.

Just have to level train my stuff before Sophocle's trial and I should be good (well, bulk of it anyway). Half of them (Lycanroc, Espeon and Primarina) are in their mid-30s; others are iffy.

I got lucky that I just one-shotted the Marowak due to having Water starter, though once I do Ultra Moon with Litten, I can't expect things to go as smoothly and yeah, might have same issues.

Then again, the Lurantis totem was annoying like it was from S/M; also that Comfey can go burn in hell (well, it and Kecleon for spamming Sunny Day and the former for Defense boosting and HP healing). Though, it was my problem for not bringing a Fire 'mon initially with STAB or could strike on the special end.

=====

At least the Ditto event afterwards yields you a lot of money and saves you time trying to get natures you want for breeding. Uh, how many of you finished Mallow's trial by now?

Totem Lurantis is a pain even when you do have a fire pokemon, unless you are super overleveled. My Salandit was a good 3-4 levels over it, but Sunny Day + Synthesis + Flower Healing drags it on and on and on. Fortunately the Solar Blade only hit her for about 1/3 HP so I could wait it out without much effort, but it took forever.

I tried using the Flying Z-move, but didn't kill Lurantis. Probably was underleveled or I didn't train well enough in Attack.

And though I didn't want to do it, I ended up importing a level 31 Growlithe from Sun to just kill Lurantis in one shot before it could summon ally 'mons. I really should've had one (because I think I did that last time with Intimidate spam), or just take that Arbok in trade. To be fair, I haven't taken any of the in-game trades.

====

As for the Destiny Knot, that's great; now we just need the Everstone (need to check if Roggenrolas in Ten Carat Hill have them, or I have to actually wait). Have to take on Sophocles, but at this point, two of my 'mons are level 40, starter's evolved and most of them are fully EV trained so I can go crazy with fights and not worry about screwing over stuff.

Well, compared to the rest of you all, it seems I'm taking my sweet time progressing through the game. Just beat Totem Araquanid, but things have definitely been rocky for me so far. I'm playing without the Exp. Share, so that makes things quite a bit more difficult, and I've already had a number of challenges due to my team...

[spoiler=Just in case, though it seems everyone else is already far ahead :p]

...including Soliera (the first battle with her Furfrou -_-) and Sina among others, of which I had to rely on berries and X Items. So far on my team I've got:

• Dartrix Lv.22

• Noibat Lv.21

• Flaaffy Lv.20

...which meant that everything up to Totem Raticate was a Rowlet solo run (hell, even the principal of the Trainer School gave me problems), Dartrix and Noibat could barely do anything to Soliera's Furfrou due to Fur Coat, and both would get easily KO'ed by Sina's Glaceon. Gladion wasn't a problem, but Totem Araquanid was too bulky for me to handle without X Sp.Atk and X Sp.Def with Flaaffy. Luckily, I think I'll be prepared for Totem Marowak since I'm planning on adding a team member before I proceed with Kiawe's trial, but we'll see...

I hated that funking Comfey Totem Lurantis summoned; not for its healing, but because it knew Flower Guard, boosting Totem Lurantis' defence while I was trying to beat it with Combusken. Eventually, I just kept healing Solar Blade's damage while using Work Up to boost until I could 2 shot it with Fire Punch.

Sad thing is is that I felt more satisfac killing the Comfey than I did the Totem.

I'm going super slow and only just beat Hala. I'm using the EXP share, have boosts from Refresh, and had Rotom randomly give me extra exp so I'm SUPER over levels. Team atm.

Petrol, the Gentle Grimer: 19

Vikviper, the Sassy Charjabug: 20

Undertaker, the Naughty Torracat: 21.

Grubbin actually evolved during the Grand Trial. Acrobatics made pretty easy work of the Fighting types.

So I just spent a good hour or so Synchronize-SOS Chaining for my 4th team member. Most of the time for initial playthroughs I wouldn't go through the trouble, but for Feebas I had to. I Synchronized using a Modest Kadabra and went through a chain of roughly 35 (I wanted to be sure I hit the 4-guaranteed IVs mark in case I miscounted somewhere) to get it, and the perfect-IV distribution came out pretty ideal, with one imperfect stat being ATK (which isn't needed anyways), and the other, though I don't know which, being quite high nonetheless.

And having evolved it with the Prism Scale from Kala'ale Bay, I'm now pretty confident in dealing with Totem Marowak once I train it up a bit.

[spoiler=Who didn't see this one coming?

I don't have the patience to chain for IVs. Even when you have a Synchronize Pokemon you can miss, plus you can have an ability you can't check for some amount of time. Though Vulpix's HA is too good and obvious for me to pass up on getting, so I'll SOS chain at some point.

In other news, I checked the mall. Man, if only this was my Y save. I could become a Kommo-o.

I have to deal with that Togedemaru totem now [level 33]; thankfully I do have level 40s so that much is helpful. Just kill it before it summons a Skarmory.

But yeah, it kinda helps that (1) Rotom gives some extra XP (albeit sometimes it's not at a time when I WANT it) and (2) Bank works, so can just transfer to S/M for an hour or so, get training done (reset bad EVs) and then return later.

I'm just worried about the Mimikyu totem if it's still there, but that's mostly on "how the hell to handle Disguise and block Play Rough/whatever".

Honestly, Mimikyu wasn't as bad as in S/M simply because it didn't summon allies that love to spam Hypnosis.

Also, I'm considering making a new game and doing a Nuzlocke when I'm finished with this playthrough. (Unless I randomly find a Shiny like the Snorunt that made me stop restarting Moon)

I'm getting prepared for it now; ideally, I'd love to just hit that Mimikyu hard before it gets any allies out (though Banette and Jellicent shouldn't be difficult to manhandle).

Also training that Totem Marowak I got; thankfully it got a high Attack IV (and I Synchronize forced Adamant onto it). HP training is a legit pain in the neck though. Attack training is done.

A thought hit me and I decided to check something. Why does Vikavolt get Bug Buzz at level 31? You are 0% to be able to evolve a Charjabug at that level normally meaning you won't have a good Bug STAB for it until you get to the move reminder which is at the E4. It really should have been on of the last moves it learns to give you better odds of actually being able to get it.

Also, it is really stupid that you go from a physical attacker to special to such an extreme degree.

Ask Gamefreak why they did that, and I'm still peeved they made most of the 'mons in here slow as sheet. Granted, you could just transfer it over to S/M for a short while, teach the move and stuff, then return it. (This implies you can pull off GTS trade without some kid sniping you, or have Bank).

I already beat Mimikyu, and wasn't too much of an issue. Only problem was Disguise, but that's about it. Praise having team at level 40+. Now to go destroy Guzma in Po Town.

Current team IIRC:

Espeon - level 48

Lycanroc Dusk - level 45-46

Primarina - level 44-45 (I need to check)

Kangaskhan - level 40 [got lucky at Wela Volcano Park, so yeah]

Growlithe - level 39 (six more levels until I can teach it Flare Blitz, then evolve it)

Marowak-A (Totem) - level 39

Need to name Marowak though; everything else got a nickname. I was going to use a Mudsdale again, but yeah, HP training sucked. Might go to it now that I bought a Power Weight.

Charjabugs evolve at Blush Mountain now so you can technically hold off on training so it can learn it at that level, and Vikavolts can be caught there too (lv29-32) via SOS

I don't mind the generation being overly slow. It is annoying since speed is basically the most important stat, but I get wanting to focus on other stats.

They changed when it can evolve? Thats good. I guess I can turn off EXP Share when it gets to level 30 and just sit on it. It will suck, but depending on how things play out it could work.
