Evader archetype, balance help? -Written-

So I made a random archetype for school based off a book, so the effects need to remain similar to what they are now, but if I could get some help balancing this set, that would be great!

The archetype revolves around a central unit and some of the card's effects only work if you have this card on the field.

P. S. Why do people just write bump in a comment for no apparent reason??

P. P. S. I'm really bad at this... sorry that the cards aren't in a good order

P. P. P. S. Edged evader sub-archetype

About "Bump":
Threads in the forums slide down as new ones get created or commented on.

Posting automatically puts that thread back on top of the page for more people to see, so they "bump it up".

This happens when the owner of the thread still wants the chance to get feedback.

There is I think a limit to how often you can do it and how many times it can happen in a row for any given thread, but can't say I've read the latest specifics on that.

Hope that answered your question.

Now on to your cards. I'm going to rearrange the data of your cards a little bit and correct small stuff like spelled numbers, capitals in the wrong places, and colon/semi-colon placement to fit with official ways of writing as best as I can. Though I'll reserve my explanations for my suggestions that do change the way the cards work....

Allan, Evader Mastermind

LIGHT Level 3 [Warrior/Effect] 1500/800

Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by  battle. When this card is Summoned: Special Summon 1 "Evader" monster from your Deck in Defense Position, except "Allan, Evader Mastermind". You can only use this effect of Allan, "Evader Mastermind" once per turn.

It seemed kind of cheap that any kind of Summon of this Level 3 monster will instantly bring out a second copy of it, which will bring out a third copy, which then will bring out another member of the archetype. This is way too easy of a 1 card play for 4 monsters that search/toolbox your archetype. So I suggested not being able to search itself and limiting it to once per turn too.

Aronsson, Evader Inspector

DARK Level 4 [Warrior / Effect] 1700/1700

When this card is Summoned, if you control an "Evader" monster, except "Allan, Evader Mastermind": You can add 1 "Allan, Evader Mastermind" from your Deck to your hand.

I did not change this one, but it seems a bit awkward that the one that searches to the hand is more restricted than the one that Summons directly from the Deck to the field. One could say it'd work similar to Tellarknights if it didn't have the restriction, but with differing Levels so... it wouldn't have the Xyz potential. I suggest for it to not need another "Evader" on the field to work, especially when the one member that can specifically combo with it is the one that doesn't want to.

Back and Forth

Continuous Spell

Monsters Normal Summoned while "Allan, Evader Mastermind" is face-up on the field, are banished until their owner's next Draw Phase. When an "Evader" monster returns this way: You can treat it as being an additional Normal Summon.

This is a difficult card to work with. I understand that you want your monsters to escape the field and then be Special Summoned back next turn to trigger their searching effects, but this is a problematic effect for anti-Special Summon effects. If a player flips something like Vanity's Emptiness or brings out a Barrier Statue, or Fossil Dynna, then the banished monsters will not come back. You essentially seal away your opponent from Normal or Special Summoning, along with yourself but you'll have the luxury of knowing when you'll activate it to hurt you the least so it sounds a tad unfair....

My suggestion was to just make the monsters "return". Though between requiring your requirement of the archetype's Ace monster and it being a Continuous Spell, that'd make it just a plain worse version of "Future Visions, the Field Spell Card for the Fortune Lady archetype.... so I added the last bit about them being an extra Normal Summon so that they can trigger. Though it is a tad too experimental.... Let me hear what you think of this one....

Benny, Evader Multitalent

EARTH Level 4 [Warrior / Effect] 1800/1700

Once per turn, if you control "Allan, Evader Mastermind", you can activate 1 of these.

-Gain 1500 LP, and if you do, you can discard 1 card.

-Draw 1 card.

I'll be honest with you here.... There is almost no reason to ever do any of these except the "draw 1 card" effect. The LP gain is way too small to compare. I can only see a person using the +LP ones if they are ever too small on LP to pay for a Solemn Trap or if they really really wanted the discard for some reason.....  Those are very niche uses so I edited the card with my suggestion. Basically, I made the free +LP be 1500. Huge LP gain would be an issue as it stacks in archetypes like Aromas, but as far as I've seen, Evaders don't deal with heal at all so this is about enough to cover up slightly in emergencies. THEN the discard is entirely optional. Even then I think the "draw 1" effect wins any day, but now there is a bit more of an incentive by combining the other two effects.

It also doesn't exactly help a ton that it is a monster that requires presence as opposed to a Continuous Spell..... then again, it is pretty clear this is the target that Allan is going to search every time because it gives you an extra draw. The more reason to erase Aronsson's requirement of having another archetype member that's not Allan to even function.

Finally, I removed the hard OPT clause. I don't think this deck can naturally stack these effects because there's very few Summoning action outside of Allan. It is also not even an Inferno Reckless Summon target so no danger there. If somebody is able to bring this card in multiples they kind of deserve the extra draws in my opinion.

Bolt, Edged Evader

DARK Level 3 [Warrior / Effect] 1600/1500

When it is Normal Summoned, if you control an "Edged Evader" monster: You can destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field.

I did not change anything, and wrote it as if it was intentional for it to not target what it destroys. Feel free to tell me if it does target. "Edged" is a tad too specific IMO, especially since the only other one here is a Level 6 after I scrolled down a bit to make sure. I suggest you changed it to just "Evader" even if this card now combos with the Continuous Spell suggestion I put up there for a double destruction, I think it is still fine without the harsh narrow restriction.....

Bosse, Evader Cook

WATER Level 4 [Warrior / Effect] 1800/1700

Once per turn: You can remove 1 Money Counter on your side of the field; gain 3000 LP.

I had to scroll down to the very end to find another mention of these counters, and to make sure if you meant counters or Tokens.

This card is just kind of a lousy LP gainer that can't do it as a stand alone so it is kind of bad in this archetype as is IMO. It also doesn't really have ATK stats that are any better than the average here, I think I've seen a couple of 1800 beaters already. All in all it doesn't really stand out much. I suggest you give it some kind of edge here, like, bump its ATK to 2000 and make it an Edge Evader to give it a use over other cards. I did not implement the suggestion here but I still do advice it.

Bucket, Single-Edged Evader

DARK Level 4 [Warrior / Effect] 1800/1900

When it is Normal Summoned: Target 1 set card your opponent controls; destroy it. At the start of your Battle Phase: You can return this card to your hand if you control "Allan, Evader Mastermind".

Made the return effect optional. You'll be starving for field presence soon if you don't. Also, now I realize your lack of targeting is most likely not intentional so I added it. That is all.

Buster, Evader Guard

EARTH Level 2 [beast / Effect] 700/1000

If this card is destroyed by battle or by a card effect while you control an "Evader" monster: All "Evader" monsters gain 800 ATK.

Changed it to be destroyed in any way, increased the +ATK boost, and made it permanent. I don't think this is all that great but increased its playability a bit. I recommend it to be a Warrior-Type because Reinforce Truth would be able to Summon it out. Beast support for it exists but would clash more with your archetype.

Evader's Yellow Bus

EARTH Level 8 [Machine / Fusion / Effect] 3300/2700

"Gunnila, Evader Beauty + 1 or more "Evader" monsters.

Can only be Fusion Summoned with the effect of "Suitcase", and cannot be Summoned in other ways. When Fusion Summoned: Attach its Fusion Materials to it. Once per turn, during your Main Phase: You can destroy this card, and if you do, destroy 1 card your opponent controls. When this card is destroyed: Special Summon the Fusion Materials used for its Summon.

Not much to say here.... This is kind of like an Xyz, though the Xyz Materials aren't used for anything at all. Also, its destruction effect doesn't kill anything unless it self destroys, which is kind of bad. All in all, the reason behind this card's design is confusing. I don't wanna change anything until I get the whole picture but IDK....

Gunnila, Evader Beauty

DARK Level 6 [Fiend / Effect] 2200/1800

When Summoned: If you control"Allan, Evader Mastermind", All opponent's monsters lose 1000 ATK and 500 DEF, otherwise they gain 500 ATK and lose 1000 DEF.

Whis is kind of pretty bad. It shouldn't be a Tribute Monster if it doesn't make up for it in some way. Also, it is a one-time effect requiring you to have a setup on the field apart from what you are gonna Tribute. It'd be a pretty decent tech if "Monarchs Stormforth" wasn't limited. Plus, the different stat changes for DEF are not really all that necessary. You'll rarely bump into Defense Positions that aren't face-down so it doesn't even affect some of the decks it is supposed to affect.  I recommend a full re-work of the effect. Something like this:

If you control "Allan, Evader Mastermind", you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). When Summoned: All opponent's monsters lose 400 ATK and DEF, and all monsters you control gain 400 ATK and DEF.

That way you gain an edge of having your center card on the board, but the card is not completely useless if you don't have it.

Herbert, Ancient Evader

EARTH Level 5 [Warrior / Effect] 2400/1600

If you do not control "Allan, Evader Mastermind", destroy this card. If this card is destroyed by a card effect: You can target 1 Equip or Field Spell Card on the field; destroy it.

This is another meh card. It needs 1 Tribute to hit the field and only triggers off of effect destruction, to destroy such a specific kind of cards. I recommend it searches the ace. This is my suggestion for the first effect:

If you do not control "Allan, Evader Mastermind", you can activate this effect: Destroy this card in your hand or field, and if you do, add 1 "Allan, Evader Mastermind" from your Deck to your hand, but you cannot Summon it this turn.

Julius, Evader Thief

EARK Level 6 [Warrior / Effect] 2000/2400

If you do not control "Allen, Evader Mastermind", this card is treated as "Allan, Evader Mastermind". Once per turn: You can gain 800 LP, and if you do, inflict 800 damage to your opponent.

Why does this card exist? It requires a Tribute and provides very low LP movement, and it just gains the ace's name, but the deck's Ace is already the searcher of the archetype with decent stats and built-in protection. I cannot think on why you'd want to use this card that can easily end up dead in your hand. I am trying to find an edge or a niche this card might have over the original, but it doesn't really do anything... It is only for if an anime deck didn't want to run multiple copies of cards, but this theme seems to want you to run multiples of a few cards so that can't be it. Maybe if it had something like:
If you control "Allen, Evader Mastermind", you can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing your opponent's monster with the lowest ATK.

I made the LP changes bigger too.

Lock in Freezer

Continous Trap

When you activate this card, target 1 monster your opponent controls; It cannot attack or change battle position. During your Standby Phase, if you control an "Evader" monster: You can destroy the target. If that monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

This is a pretty nice card. No changes.

Never Again Edged Evader

DARK Level 9 [Fiend / Fusion / Effect] 3000/1500

Cannot be Special Summoned, except by Tributing 2 or more "Evader" monsters". Once per turn, during Main Phase 1: You can target exactly 2 monsters on the field; destroy them.

This is another card that needs a lot of improvements. I haven't read "Suitcase" but the fact one of the cards requires it and the other one specifically requires it to not be around, that contradicts your own theme's flow. Plus, "Edged" monsters for the most part are the more unusual and bigger members of the archetype. It seems like a pain to make. Not to mention it MUST destroy 2 monsters whenever able, including your own. This card is almost pure downsides.
Edited the effect to give it a bit more use as a boss.

One-Hundredth Birthday

[spell]

Add 1 "Allan, Evader Mastermind" from your Deck to your hand.

Ok. Though as an important note, I think you have a lot of "from the Deck" support, and this is good for your ace, but you so far lack ways to grab things back from the GY.... Just a thought.

Pike, Double-Edged Evader

EARTH Level 6 [Warrior / Effect] 2600/1500

While you control "Allan, Evader Mastermind", this card is also treated as LIGHT and gains this effect.

-Once per turn (quick effect): You can gain 500 LP.

While you do not control "Allan, Evader Mastermind", this card is also treated as DARK and gains this effect.

-Once per turn: You can (permanently) have this card lose 500 ATK, and if you do, destroy 1 opponent's face-up Effect Monster.

Ok, so you DO have plenty of LP gain effects, as a bunch of dead ends since you don't really do anything with them except make them bonuses to help you survive a little bit more. In this case, somehow not having your ace gives you the better effect. Also, your archetype is very high-Level heavy and those monsters don't really have ways of being Summoned outside of Allan himself. You pretty much wouldn't want to draw into most of them..... Just an observation to keep in mind.

Police Investigation

Trap

Add 1 "Evader" monster from your Deck to your hand.

Sooo more consistency. IDK if you really need this much to be honest,  but anyways...

Recruit

[Quick-play Spell]

Remove 1 Money Counter from "Suitcase"; Special Summon 1 "Evader" monster from your hand or Deck.

I suggest you make this a continuous Spell or Trap with a once per turn effect, and restrict it to Level 5 or higher. Your low Level ones already have enough ways to be searched out, and this card just further makes the small ones explode without giving the heavy ones any sort of edge to work with.

Sonya, Evader Guard

EARTH Level 5 [beast / Effect] 2700/2200

Once per turn, if you control "Allan, Evader Mastermind": You can target 1 Defense Position monster on the field; destroy it. If you do not control "Allan, Evader Mastermind", this card cannot attack.

If you were to take off 100 or 200 ATK, this card would not even need the drawback it has, and your archetype already has some ATK modifiers so it is not like it needs this much power, especially for a Level 5. The only Level 5 with as much as 2500 ATK in the game is a Normal Monster so this is bordering on the unacceptable stats. Another thing to note is that you don't really have a way of changing monsters into Defense Position, so you are either making this theme to play against a stall deck on your end, or you are planning to pop your Level 2 monster.

Suitcase

[Continuous Spell]

When you activate this card: Place 4 Money Counters anywhere on the field. Once per turn: You can remove 1 Money Counter on the field; Fusion Summon 1 "Evader" monster, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Materials. If there are no Money Counters on the field, destroy this card.

So we finally meet, Suitcase. It seems like just a Polymerization variant. This card is not supported enough here.

You need more cards that can produce these counters, you need more cards that can use these counters produced, and you need more ways to searching this card out. You have too many ways of searching out your monsters but you this card you pretty much need to wait to draw into.... That might give you trouble. In particular, one of your cards specifically tells you not to use this card, so that needs some work.

I recommend you make it a Field Spell Card, have some of your cards able to search it out, and have more ways of using up or even gaining back the Money Counters. This seems to be a center piece for the deck even though not as much as "Allan" is.

Is this where i say Bump?

Thanks for feedback, but possibly still looking for more. Just saying, Bucket is also supposed to be edged, as with the fusion, but whatever.

As much as I would love to change some of these cards, most of these effects are based off of a book, and this is a school project, so idk.

Thanks for help with balance, but anything else is still appreciated. Would you say i should make all the level 3 cards level 4?

Thanks again!

No problem~

No, bump is only allowed after a day of inactivity. You don't need to bump right now because you are very much near the top of the page right now, and fairly recent, and replying to a post, so you are fine without resorting to it.

I don't think you should change the Level 3s. I used the Satellarknights as an example of a more consistent and similar possible version of this engine to showcase that you are not really risking balance issues right now. Besides, if your cards can't access Xyz Summoning as easily, you still can access Link Summoning and Fusion Summoning.

I don't really understand how this being a school project affects the way these are made, I can only guess these have some sort of flavor that needs to really clearly translate into whatever the IRL thing they are based on is. Like how Bastion's chemical cards need to follow the science formula for water with the proper elements and whatnot. I don't know how to adjust to what you are looking for exactly, so just take whatever you found useful from my post I suppose, and good luck~

English class media project, you can essentially do whatever you want, so i made an archetype based off the book I read! The cards need to reflect what happens in the book, so that's what happenned.

This project has been really fun, i might be a regular soon, you never know!

Thanks again again!
