OP: Nibun no Ichi ~ Gundam Build Fighters

ED: Masayume Chasing ~ Fairy Tail

"I tried to talk with Grey again today. He doesn't believe that this place is bad for us. At least, not like I do. I'm afraid to talk to the others. They already make us fight one another, and while they take care of us otherwise, I'm scare to think what would happen if any of us willingly disobeyed. They already seem suspicious of me. But, maybe that's because I seem to be advancing more quickly than the others. I don't know what to think any more.

I had another...premonition. They say I did not have a life before this, but I am beginning to believe that is untrue. There are times I remember something. It is nothing more than a face. Or, a voice. Sometimes, just a smell. But, they are things that do not belong here. I have to wonder where they came from. I dare not tell them about this, for I fear they will get angry. They always get angry when we question them.

They say everything we are given is a gift. Our abilities. Our training. Even our lives. They are all gifts. However, I do not feel spoiled. I feel controlled."

[spoiler=Extended Prologue]

“You know what your problem is, Genevieve?” The question hung above the scientist’s head like the blade of a guillotine, hungry for blood. She dared not answer, instead she groveled quietly whilst dipping her head lower in submission to the hulking form that towered above her. Her normally pristine lab coat was dirtied with soot and her hair, once so carefully held in place, fell loosely about her face. She bared the marks of having recently survived a battle, and indeed the evidence was all around her.

The once glorious image of New Genesis was in ruins. Smoke curled from ruined machinery and sparks flew from exposed circuitry. Glass littered the floor from the broken windows, cutting into Genevieve’s hands and knees, but she did not get up. Fear kept her rooted.

“I said, do you know what your problem is?” A heavy boot crunched sickeningly on top of the cowering doctor’s hand. She let out a scream of pain, but the boot was not lifted.

“I failed, sir. I failed,” Genevieve sobbed, her words barely comprehensible through her tears. At her answer, the weight was lifted from her hand. “Forgive me,” she mewled.

“Well, yes, in part you did fail, but your true problem is that despite all your brilliance you still leave too much to chance. You allow for error.” A gunshot split the air, the bullet burying itself into Dr. Genevieve Masters, her body dropping quietly to the floor.

“I, however, do not.”

The man whistled softly as he left the ruined carapace of the once magnificent facility. His heavy footfalls passed the fresh corpses of eight fresh faced youth, each of them sported a permanent look of horror on their face. However, more interesting, is that each of them carried some sort of physical anomaly. Razor sharp teeth. Blades for hands. Wings.

“But, you were not a complete failure, my dear Genevieve.”

10 YEARS LATER

“The events that happened here at New Genesis horrified the world. Once a massive corporation, pioneering the way in genetic research and technological advancement, New Genesis became the most sensationalized scandal of the decade. Rumored to be involved in unsanctioned human and Pokemon experimentation, evidence was found that they had unlawfully tested new scientific procedures that crossed human and Pokemon DNA. They had turned their test subjects into hybrid organisms. Religious zealots called them abominations. Doctors called them medical mysteries. However, it did not matter what they were called because they were dead. Not a single a member of the Project: Transcendence trials survived and no records of the process of their genetic mutation could be found on the ruined servers at the facility.

It is unknown whether or not the subjects died as a result of the experimentation or if they were murdered. Several show signs of defensive wounds that would, in most cases, be fatal, but their changed physiology is too much of a mystery for coroners to definitively state a cause of death.

It is unknown just how many deaths are affiliated with New Genesis, however, over 3 dozen bodies were found at their newest facility. Among them, the director, Genevieve Masters whom had suffered a number of superficial wounds before finally sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.

We may never truly know what happened here, but today, on the 10 year anniversary of their discovery, we remember the the innocent lives that were lost. The world—”

The monitored blinked off, casting the room into a cold darkness. The deafening silence was interrupted by a deep, menacing voice.

“Today, we begin Project: Gemini.”

[spoiler=The Plot]

Twelve years ago, an inter-regional media, manufacturing, development, and technology conglomerate by the name of New Genesis opened a new facility on a secluded island to focus on their scientific exploits. Their director, Dr. Genevieve Masters, spearheaded an off-the-books project known as Project: Transcendence. This less than ethical experiment was designed to cross human and Pokémon DNA, creating a hybrid organism with the overall appearance of a human, but the supernatural qualities of a Pokémon. While they did succeed, the experiment ended disastrously after the unfortunate death of one of the subjects. This inspired the rest of the subjects to revolt against the scientists at New Genesis, resulting in the destruction of the island facility and the deaths of dozens of people. Not a single one of the Transcendents, the so-called human/Pokemon hybrids, were found alive.

New Genesis was shut down after that. Or, so it was thought. The most elusive members of New Genesis went underground and a couple of years later they formed a new company under the name of De Novo Labs. Ten years after the fall out from Project: Transcendence, it was decided by the heads of De Novo Labs to begin what they believed to be a perfected form of hybrid experimentation, Project: Gemini.

Like its predecessor, Project: Gemini would be off-the-books and conducted in an isolated environment. However, the test subjects would be handled differently. Their memories would be wiped. They would be controlled. And, at the first sign of true resistance, eliminated.

You are one of the subjects. It has been two years since De Novo Labs took you from your previous life and you began your life as a member of Project: Gemini. They have been training you, testing your limits. It has been three weeks since one of your fellow test subjects disappeared. There is unrest, both amongst yourselves and those that control you.

[spoiler=Application]

Please read the following information before creating your character.

Personal Information

Name: All of the test subject's real names were taken from them and they were replaced with a codename vaguely relating to whatever Pokemon they were crossed with or powers they developed.

Age:

Gender:

Appearance: Please place into spoiler and include a paragraph including any details or changes not covered in the image. If you do not include a picture please be sure to adequately describe your character. All characters where loose fitting white linen clothing while under the care of De Novo Labs

Personality: Spoiler. 2 paragraph minimum.

Biography: Spoiler. 2 paragraph minimum. Please only send this portion to me privately. Your character should have very little, to no knowledge of the information here because in the process of priming them for experimentation, their episodic and autobiographical memory was wiped. This means they have no knowledge of who they are or where they came from. However, they left their semantic and procedural memory in tact, so they still have all the knowledge that they had before and if they knew how to cook and/or how to swim, then they still know how to cook and/or swim. But, they don't have the personal memories associated with those experiences.

Combat Information:

DNA Donor: Pokemon that you now related to.~ no legendaries

Mutations: Spoiler. Sub-divided into Greater Mutation and Lesser Mutations, the Greater Mutation tends to be the overarcing theme whereas the Lesser Mutations are subsets or in addition to it. They are to be based on some trait or traits of the Pokemon, whether it be their physiology, their ability, or something in their moveset. Don't get carried away, but don't be too scared.

Pokemon: Spoiler. While De Novo will not let you have your Pokemon currently, you obviously had a life before now and they are storing your Pokemon in a separate part of the facility. What Pokemon are they keeping a hold of?

[spoiler=Experiment #227-11 - Status: Terminated]

b26R12T.png

Personal Information:

Name: Experiment #227-11/Maximum Ride (subject prefers the handle "Max")

Age: 25

Gender: Female

[spoiler=Appearance]

r9vwTKB.png

Art by 黒ミヤ

Height: 172.72 cm (5'8")

Weight: 40.82 kg (90 lbs)

While Gemini Hybrid #227-11 is tall and of average build, she is the technical definition of underweight. This imperfection is not due to factors such as an unhealthy diet or lack of food, but because her bones are actually hollow like a bird's, one of the first traits we tried to replicate. Note: The picture is inaccurate, a whimsy of one of my peers, but the shirt is sleeveless and she does wear shorts. However, they are of white linen as the standard fabric material for the experiments' clothing.

[spoiler=Personality]

Experiment #227-11 has shown a keen desire to form attachments with the other Gemini Hybrids. She frequently crosses standard social boundaries, being what one would call "clingy," especially with the other female hybrids. Prone to frequent displays of affection, such as the act of wrapping one's arms around another person, more frequently seen with the females, and clapping one on the back, more frequently seen with the males. Due to the competitive nature of species #227, it is hypothesized that this is a remnant of the subject's original personality.

The effects of species #227 on the hybrid are as follows. Gemini Hybrid #227-11 has shown a wider range of negative expressions in response to negative stimuli than before she became a hybrid. A notable example is her glare, a narrowing of the eyes while the mouth is at neutral. And, compared to the previous ratio of a third of the time spent conscious in tears, the present ratio is less than a percent. It is 20% likely that that is due to her bird DNA, 30% likely that that is due to her memories being wiped, and 50% likely that it is a combination of the two.

Experiment #227-11 has shown a predisposition toward fairness and "doing the right thing," though due to her memory loss, she cannot remember exactly why she believes in that so strongly. Lately, she has shown signs of rebellion: a desire to explore beyond the facilities and a reluctance to fight.

Combat Information:

DNA Donor: Species #227/Skarmory

[spoiler=Mutations]

Greater: Experiment #227-11 possesses a pair of wings, smaller than what would be on a species #227, but otherwise sharing all of their properties, examples including:

-made of steel

-hollow and light

-sharp as knives

-flight ability

-regrow once a year

Lesser: Experiment #227-11 possesses abnormally strong upper body muscles, air sacs, and a heart that beats as fast as a bird's. This is all to enable flight.

[spoiler=Pokémon]

Species: #660/Diggersby

Gender: Female

Ability: Huge Power

Moves: Take Down, Odor Sleuth, Dig, Bounce

Other Information:

[spoiler=Notes]

  • Experiment #227-11 is named such for her species and for being the 11th experiment from species #227. So far, she is the first success.
  • Warning: Experiment #227-11's rebellious personality could be a danger to herself and the labs. I have flagged this file for further consideration. Recommendation: sedatives in her food, and erasure if continued.

[spoiler=Grey]

Personal Information:

Name: Grey

Age: 26

Gender: Male

[spoiler=Appearance]

PL2ShUe.png

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 180lbs

[spoiler=Personality]

Grey has all the trademarks of an adult that is still acting out for attention. Picking fights on the playground. Breaking his friends' things. Throwing fits when he doesn't get his way. He feeds off attention, so when showboating and grandstanding just won't cut it, sometimes he has to settle for pissing off a few people. He's walking through life just begging for someone, anyone, to give him the time of day, and he doesn't care if the only attention he gets is a set of knuckles to the face.

Grey likes to feel in charge, he's got an ego and a control problem. He often feels threatened if anyone he views as weaker or lesser than him tries to take control of a situation. He will often act up if he feels like he is being put in a role of subordination when he is better suited for a leadership role. However, Grey is loyal to his friends or those he feels indebted to and he will follow them without question. Truth be told, Grey doesn't have many qualities of a leader at all. He's hot headed, self-destructive, and cares too much about his self-interests to make any impassive decisions.

At his core, Grey feels as though there is something missing. He often fills this part of himself with anger or the shallow approval of others, but they are both temporary fixes to a larger issue that, unbeknownst to him, was only made worst when his memory was wiped.

[spoiler=Biography]

[REDACTED]

Combat Information:

DNA Donor: Machamp

[spoiler=Mutations]

Greater: Grey has an inducible mutation that activates at will. His body mass nearly doubles and he grows an extra pair of arms. He skin pigmentation also fades, hence his namesake. While in this state, Grey is incredibly strong, able to lift several thousand pounds.

Lesser: Grey has a quickened healing rate, even when not in his induced mutant state. Minor cuts and bruises will heal in a matter of minutes. Larger wounds take a couple of hours to heal. This healing rate may prolong a fatal wound for a few hours, even days, but there is no guarantee that it will sustain Grey forever. It cannot regrow limbs. Grey's blood does detoxify more quickly.

[spoiler=Enter the Gekkouga]

"What's wrong? Can't you keep up?"

x393wz.jpg

Personal Information

x393wz.jpg

Name: Koga

Age: 23

Gender: Male

x393wz.jpg

[spoiler=Appearance:]

tsuna___greninja_gijinka_by_rainwhisker_

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 150 lbs

The above image is what Koga generally looks like, minus the kunai and the outfit's color scheme. Quite frankly, the outfit's colors are namely black as the dominant color with light blue being the secondary color.

x393wz.jpg

[spoiler=Personality:]

Koga is the aloof one of the group. While others may seem to be all chipper or even in your face, Koga is the one who is always distant from the others. He keeps to himself and tries to stay his way out of conflict whenever it doesn't involve him directly. Of course, does this mean he always does? Not in the slightest. The young man, although he is distant from others, it doesn't mean he doesn't care about the well being around those around him. Of course it is in his own way and style, but he will come to the aid of those who aren't able to protect themselves fully. Because of this, there are some who have a respect for the young man.

Aside from this, if he is approached by those around him, Koga isn't one to initially tell them how to kindly piss off. On the contrary, he will somewhat enjoy the interactions brought apart by others. This leads into one of his weaknesses: his people's skills. Because of his aloofness, Koga has a hard time approaching others and trying to spark conversations. This is where those who approach him converse with him, it makes things slightly easier to chit-chat with. However, this weakness doesn't stop Koga in the area of talking to those who tend to cause trouble and tend to pick a fight with the other people.

In regards to his abilities in combat, Koga takes pride in the abilities and fighting prowess he has. He fights to win and nothing more, which for others, might be fighting to kill. Furthermore, Koga treats those he fights all with respect, but will not refrain from taking advantage of an opponent by making sly remarks in order to get in their head during the fight.

[spoiler=Biography:]

x393wz.jpg

Combat Information:

x393wz.jpg

DNA Donor: Greninja

x393wz.jpg

[spoiler=Mutations:]

Greater Mutation

Koga's mutation is a strange one indeed. The mutation is an amphibian physiology, which includes both a retractable tongue and adhesiveness. The retractable tongue that Koga has is 3 meters in length and allows for Koga to shoot it out in a frog/toad like manner. His adhesiveness allows him to stick to surfaces for a period of time.

Lesser Mutation

Koga's mutations have given him enhanced agility, allowing him to move quickly.

[spoiler=Pokemon:]

Pokémon: Accelgor

Nickname: Hanzo

Gender: Male

Ability: Hydration

Moveset:

  • Water Shuriken
  • Energy Ball
  • Bug Buzz
  • Hidden Power (Water)

x393wz.jpg

Other Information:

x393wz.jpg
  • Koga's codename that he was given has a twofold meaning: 1st - It is a name referring to an old Pokémon Gym Leader and Elite Four member: Koga, the Ninja Pokémon trainer that lead the Fuchsia City Gym and became a part of the Indigo Plateau's Elite Four. 2nd - It alludes to the Pokémon that he's genetically bonded with, Greninja, albeit from the name of the Pokémon in it's Japanese version: Gekkouga.
  • The mutations given to Koga were a reference to a character in the Marvel universe with similar styled abilities: Toad of the X-Men series.
  • The tongue mutation was talked about of having Koga's tongue literally be out and wrapped around his neck like a scarf, in the same fashion of Greninja. However, we went the retractable route to allow for Koga to speak clearly. Plus, seeing a guy with a long tongue like that would be strange.
  • Koga's preferred sitting position is depicted in his appearance, which is also similar to the anime character: L from Death Note.
  • Koga's Pokémon, Hanzo the Accelgor, is named after the famous ninja of the Sengoku Period: Hattori Hanzo.

Imma try this. Let's hope this turns out alright.

This is gonna STRESS. ME. OUT.

Posting to make sure you don't reference Brianna without my permission. No offense just making sure. Probably not gonna join but I guess I'll think about it.

Come on Cow, you know you want in~

I might want in as well. Will keep my eye on how things develop here :)

Join us, Yui. Join us!!

A simple but intriguing premise. There's definitely a lot of ways to expand on an idea like this, which is also good. Seems like a fun way for me to get back into RPing, so consider me interested.

~~~Interest noting process underway~~~
~~~Interest has been successfully noted~~~

Glad to have y'all~

Alright well this is way more people than I was expecting, but I am glad!! I will try to get the OoC up sometime today!

Okay so...I suppose to help people with making these characters I have a question.

How exactly are people supposed to have personality in this sort of situation? Cause without memory, while being regulated and watched so intently, it seems like it'd be hard to actually have traits.

So just because their memory is wiped doesn't mean whatever happened in their past life didn't happen to them. They still developed into an individual and while they may not have access to their specific memories, their personality is still affected by it. For example, if a character had a traumatic event where they nearly drowned and acquired an aversion to water before having their memory wiped, they would still have that aversion to water, they just wouldn't know why they had that aversion to water. Additionally, people react to things differently. Perhaps to cope with the stress of the situation, one subject fully buys into the idea that this is all a great gift and they are lucky to be here and they are super grateful. Whereas another is afraid of their abilities and is incredibly timid.

They don't exist in a vacuum.

Alright, so since I wasn't around for Transcendence, please help a brother out.

The Mutations of our characters with Poké-DNA: how noticeable do they have to be? Do they give us abilities to fight or use Pokémon moves? Do they have mental links with the Pokémon they were literally genetically bonded with?

They are going to be fairly noticeable. They don't have to necessarily be to fight, but that is the intention, yes. And while it isn't going to give your character Pokemon moves exactly, they are going to have abilities reminiscent of them. For example, if your character was crossed with Tangela. Then perhaps their Greater Mutation would be for tentacle/vine-like growths to grow out of their body at will. Whereas, their Lesser Mutation would be to lace those vines with poison or paralytics.

Okay, that definitely makes sense.

And for the mental link with said genetically linked Pokémon? I figure it would be a no, but rather ask before anything else.

Yeah it's a no, unless, maybe you get DNA from a psychic Pokemon and then that's up to you based on what you decide your mutation is. You really won't have interaction from the Pokemon you get DNA from, in the eyes of De Novo labs they are just a donor, nothing else.

Damn.  I took a look at this too late.  Too many people.  I'll be reading at least.

Don't worry there's not that many. There's one less than those who posted at least.

Sorry Ren. Anything I'd make for this would just feel forced and lackluster. Hope everyone else gets around my issue with it and figures it out better than I.
