Ojamajo Doremi

Recommended Posts

Ojamajo Doremi/ Magical Doremi/ Bothersome Witch Doremi, is an anime from 1999. Maybe some people here might remember it or might have at least heard of it at some point. It wasn't one of the main dishes but it was transmitted back in the day at 4kids' Saturday morning block, somewhere along side Yugioh DM, Pokemon's Johto episodes, Digimon 02, and other old stuff.

I've been struggling with a story I want to make for a while, mainly with the tone I wanted for it. Without going too much into details/tangents, thinking for a while made me remember this series and how wacky it sometimes looked. I've been watching it for a few days now.... It definitely feels a bit 90s with its peculiar happy-go-lucky air sometimes.

Anyways, if you know about this series at all, tell me your thoughts on it and whatnot. If not, I am still curious on first impressions even if just from a glimpse at the art style of the series xD

It always feels awkward posting a topic like this since it's more of a short-term thread compared to those mainly made for the up-to-date still-airing shows of each season.... not a show that's almost 2 decades old.... *shrugs*

*cough*

[spoiler=Anyways, have some random images]

I remember that:

Re: "Fala dela dong ding, now I am a witchling...?"

Do and Mi: "Safe!"

Re: "phew."

Petina: "THAT WAS PATHETIC!! You WILL practice that on your free time, will you not?!"

That's from the earlier episodes so kudos if you really recalled it from memory.

Ah! I actually remember this show. Didn't really watch it though when I was younger. Because "Guys don't watch magical girly shows".

*Proceeds to hear my 20-something yr old cousin recite Sailor Moon from memory.*

I'm still not huge on the genre, but for you, I watched the first couple of episodes and I liked it. Definitely a fun and cute show and style.

And I know how you feel about bringing up old shows xD hoping someone remembers that one show/movie you really liked. For any story, written or drawn, your tone should fit your target demographic. Doremi and Star are for any/all ages (broad and wide), but Madoka is definitely not (niche).
