OP: Nibun no Ichi ~ Gundam Build Fighters

ED: Masayume Chasing ~ Fairy Tail

Mt. Coronet pierced the sky around her, the clouds bleeding into the snowfall that littered her earthen body. She was mercilessly large, her peak dangerously close to the sun’s rays and impossibly far from the people of Sinnoh below. The morning sun etched her enormous shadow into the lands, as day broke. She spread out in every direction, cutting the region in two. The wind whistled through her peaks, a haunting melody to the giantess and the secrets that she held. Entombed within her were a patchwork of tunnels, a labyrinth that had peaked the interest of a great number of adventurers, and taken their lives just the same. She did not give up her secrets easily. It is said, that upon her highest peak gods are born and laid to rest. However, upon her shoulders, even the mortals can aspire to greatness.

De Novo Labs

Coronet Base

Gemini Compound

6:59 AM

Silence rested peacefully on the sleek walls of the compound, like freshly fallen snow, not yet disturbed by the noise the day would bring. For a moment, all was quiet. However, as the clock ticked upwards, the synthetic sound of Starly christened the air and shattered the stillness. No sooner had the soft, and yet incessant, chirping begun, did the purposeful knocking on doors start. Knock. Knock. Knock-Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Seven knocks. Six doors. She made her way down the hall, stopping at each room.

Within each room, a pneumatic hiss would signify the opening of the the outside blinders that darkened each of the Hybrids’ rooms. Dawn would spill into each room from the large windows that took up the majority of the eastward wall.  The morning sun, lazy at such a high altitude, would lounge on the sparse furnishings of their quarters, each one nearly identical. A twin bed. A desk. A television set. And a book case. Some of the rooms had a couple personal items brought from other parts of the compound, nothing from the outside world of course. Others had drawings tacked to the walls, or the furniture rearranged, anything to claim the space as their own.

“Rise and shine, kiddos. Bid day, today! Twenty minutes before breakfast and briefing!” Valentina said, her voice equally as chipper as the recorded Starly that still chirped overhead. “Don’t be late.”

[spoiler=OoC]

This GM post is unknowingly sponsored by Saiba Aisu who taught me the word 'pneumatic'.

Anyway, we have finally started!! Take this time to get your character out of bed. Do what you need to do. So whether that is brush your teeth, stare longingly out the window, talk to your other test subjects, be an angsty teen, etc, this is your time to do it! There is a communal bathroom down the hall to the left, separated into men and women. The bathroom has shower stalls in there as well. Down the hall to the right is the cafeteria where you will meet for breakfast and briefing. There is no rule saying you have to head right there after one post, so take your time. You only get one introduction, so make it count.

Also, just note, that anything in the compound has to be preapproved by De Novo Labs. So while the Hybrids are allowed things like a television set and books, everything they do and everything they see is first screened to make sure it won't give them too much of a glimpse of the world beyond the compound. For information about who the character Valentina is, please check the OoC shortly, information about her will be posted shortly.

The silence...he always found it comforting, especially when he was trying to meditate. Truth be told, the blue haired young man known only by the codename, Koga, had been awake for at least an hour. It was something he always did. Each morning he would awaken in this small confined room and start his morning in silence and meditation. It was something the scientists here suggested he do, as it would help him concentrate more when he needed it.

His eyes were closed, that was until he heard the familiar knocking on the door of his room. Once this happened, the room began to get much brighter as Koga began to feel the warmth of the sun on him. Slowly opening his eyes, he let out a sigh before hearing a voice from the hall.

“Rise and shine, kiddos. Big day, today! Twenty minutes before breakfast and briefing! Don’t be late.”

Koga moved from his crossed legged position, before moving into his normal sitting position with his knees against his chest. Another day... he thought, before finally standing from his bed and proceeded to head out into the hallway. He'd make his way to the bathroom first, just like his routine would go, to wash his face and whatnot, before making his way to eat. It was a normal routine and this just another normal day...

A vast amount of paintings and sketches lined the walls of this particular room. Though upon inspecting them, anyone would notice that nearly none of the works depicted scenes nature or any aspect of the outside world for that matter. There was one exception however. A single painting, hanging in the center of the eastern most wall of the small room.

Amongst the sea of perspective drawings of various rooms of this dreary facility, the image of an ever expanding sky above endless sea stood out and drew the eye with it's vibrant hues that seemed to be desperately crying out to be seen amongst the other art works. It was a scene that one would never have the pleasure of witnessing high in the shoulders of Mt. Coronet, and if any expert were to examine the piece they would quickly realize that the work was done without any reference of what such as scene would actually look like.

In the dim light a figure could be seen facing the painting as she sat at the small mahogany table that occupied the center of the room. A nock at the door pierced the silence, and was quickly followed by an all too familiar voice.

“Rise and shine, kiddos. Big day, today! Twenty minutes before breakfast and briefing! Don’t be late.”

The figure at the table seemed unaffected. Bringing a small porcelain teacup cup to her lips, Saber's eyes narrowed ever so slightly as her room's shutters opened completely to let in sunlight. Finishing her tea in silence, Saber brought herself up to her feet and made her way towards the painting of the sky. Her eyes danced across the piece one last time, lingering on the setting sun that peaked over the horizon almost longingly before she gently plucked it off of the wall and brought it over to her bed.

Quickly tucking the painting back into it's hiding place behind her headboard, Saber took a moment to adjust the white cloth that served as her only garment before grabbing her tea cup and moving over to the door. She'd complete her morning ritual by thoroughly cleaning the cup and washing her face for the second time...

On her way to the bathroom she spotted Koga approaching down the hall, more than likely heading to the same destination. Not one to deprive those around her a chance to pay their morning tribute, Saber nodded to the man in greeting. "Good morning, Mr. Toad," Holding her teacup gently with both hands she greeted her fellow subject in her usual manner.

Grey willfully ignored the irritating cacophony of Starly that twiddled and tweeted from hidden speakers in the ceiling. He pressed his head harder into the pillow, unwilling to face the day. As the sunlight spilled into his room he grumpily turned on his side to face the opposite direction. He didn't understand why they always needed to get up so blasted early. It was inevitable, however, that the prophetic knocking of Valentina finally made its way to his door. In anger, he threw his pillow at the closed door, and despite being stuffed with soft Swanna down it made quite the resounding thud against the wall. Needless to say, Grey was not a morning person.

However, he knew better than to try and skip the morning briefings. Valentina's reprimands were legendary, and he would know, he had received more of them than any of the other Gemini. Rising from the tangle of sheets, Grey let out a crude yawn, his face an awkward contortion of its normally handsome self. Stretching deftly, he heard several of his joints pop, stiff from sleep. He took a few swings at the punching bag that hung in the northeast corner of the room, pausing to look out over the sprawling mountains below. He put his hand up to the glass. For a moment, Dusk's words came back to him.

"There's a world out there for us."

Grey shook off the memory. He hadn't believed him them and he didn't believe him now. The only thing that dreaming got you was disappointed, or, in Dusk's case, sent off for solitary testing. Grey was happy right where he was. To reassure himself, he hit the punching bag a few more times, causing it to swing wildly. He wasn't wearing gloves, he never did, but the redness of his knuckles was already beginning to fade.

Outside the door, he could hear the other Hybrids getting ready for the day. Grey preferred to take a shower at night, but he needed to wash his face before breakfast and run a brush through his hair. He sighed, knowing chit-chat so early in the morning would be inevitable. Putting on a pair of loose fitting white shorts and a shirt of the exact same shade, Grey grabbed a few toiletries before opening his door.

Koga and Saber were standing in the hallway. "Can you move?" He asked a bit brusquely as he walked up to them. They were blocking his way to the bathroom. "Please." He added, as an afterthought.

"Good morning, Mr. Toad,"

On his way towards the bathrooms, he paused to see Saber being the one speaking to him. Koga had never once seen this young woman without her teacup, it was like a morning ritual for her, but then again, his routine would also be considered a ritual at this point.

"Koga." he simply said, correcting the young woman before beginning to walk again, however was stopped when someone else spoke, this time it was Grey.

"Can you move? Please."

The blue haired youth stopped before turning to look back at Grey before shaking his head. "You could go around. We weren't blocking up the way to the bathroom." he quickly spat out, before jumping up and sticking to the ceiling by his feet and hands. With a roll of his eyes, he moved out of the way of Grey. "The way is clear for you..." Koga said, before moving slightly to sit on the wall.

People are way too in a hurry... he thought, shaking his head slightly.

Chirp chirp chirp chirp...

Another day. Fang awoke to the chipper sound of that same Starly. While she appreciated the routine, that thing was too chipper. It sounded like the kind of creature that was all happy-go-lucky if it were a person, but as soon as it steps out into the adult world, it gets torn apart and left with nothing. That was the sort of impression Fang always had of the synthetic chirping Starly. Fang had moved her furniture around, but her room otherwise was rather undecorated. It was a place for sleeping and that was really about it. A doodle of a Sharpedo hung on the wall above her bed - opposite the window, resting next to the door - but she didn't draw that. She didn't even care to remember who had.

“Rise and shine, kiddos. Bid day, today! Twenty minutes before breakfast and briefing! Don’t be late.”

Between the sun shining in her face from the open blinds, the chirping Starly, and the knock at the door accompanied by the familiar voice of Valentina, Fang wouldn't have been able to sleep even if she wanted to. Not that she wanted to. Instead, the girl got to her feet, and started out the door, tugging at her clothes. She hated linen. But it was the only option. Combined with being more a night owl than an early bird, it made Fang rather irritable in the early hours. She wanted to just brush her teeth and get today going. They were rather delicate teeth after all, and the minty taste would no doubt leave her mouth before breakfast.

A few of the other hybrids were talking amongst themselves down the hall.

"Can you move? Please."

"You could go around. We weren't blocking up the way to the bathroom. The way is clear for you..."

"It's not a difficult request, least of all for you," Fang half-grumbled, half-yawned, lazily casting her gaze up to the ceiling as she continued forward toward the bathrooms. "And he even said please, talk about progr-oof." Fang's sentence, instead of a period, was punctuated by a soft thunk as she walked into the wall, square between the bathroom doors. Her right hand went up, and hit the wall, feeling around in search of the door to the girls bathroom. Once her hand found it, she pushed the door open and sidled her way in, growling "You saw nothing."

It's way too bright out here.

Tagas was not one to waste time. Even when one would figured he would rest, he was working, which is why his room was mostly empty. Just a bed, a mat, and a weight he kept around at all times. The giant was awake before the sun was even up, using the empty space to perform push-ups as time marched forward, his lab clothes tossed to the side in favor of going naked. His body was drenched in sweat, but he didn't feel tired, no, this was how he woke up in the morning. His routine went to the next step as he heard a knock at the door.

“Rise and shine, kiddos. Big day, today! Twenty minutes before breakfast and briefing!” The voice of Valentina called out. "Don't be late," Tagas stood up, stretching a bit as his massive tail wrapped around the weight on the floor. After it got a good grip, it started to pump the iron like any one at a gym would with their arms. After a few seconds of thought, Tagas decided to not wear the clothes. It would waste at least a good minute to put them on, only to take them off again, and then put them on again. The giant dino man scooped up his lab thing over his should and walked out of his room, his tail exercising as he headed to the bathroom. The usual morning crowd was there, and Tagas didn't want to lose dibs on the hot water.

"Out of the way, the Emperor claims dibs on the shower," He stated, shoving his way past the males in his way with his oversized, sweaty, naked body. Moving right to the shower, he closed the curtain behind him and turned the water on, the waters soothing away the morning stiffness of his body. This was going to be a good day for the Emperor, he could feel it.

Grey was ready to throw some fists. While in the process of deciding whether it was two or four fists that he would be flinging, he received unexpected aid from the girl with the gils. Fang. Normally, Grey and her did not get along. However, even she could see how reasonable he was being this morning. He had said please, after all. Koga's tongue just always seemed to get away from him...sometimes literally. However, sleep was still heavy on Grey's eyes and despite the anger that rose in him from being disrespected, he just didn't quite have the motivation yet to threaten or physically berate the sticky-fingered freak.

"Out of the way, the Emperor claims dibs on the shower," Tagas rushed passed, his sweaty body brushing against Grey in the hallway that was quickly becoming much too crowded. A look of horror etched itself upon his face as the Tyrantrum Hybrid's tail slithered down the hall. All thoughts of pummeling Koga were banished from his mind, now he just wanted to unsee, and unfeel, the scene that had just befouled him. Through clenched teeth he let out a scream of frustration at the dragonling, something that hopefully communicated: 'Where clothes like the rest of us!'

"I knew I should've just gone back to bed this morning. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it." Grey said to himself, turning away from the bathroom. He wasn't sure he was going to eat anymore, but he definitely didn't want to go towards the bathroom and risk Tagas assaulting him again. This was going to be an awful day for Grey, he could feel it.

"Koga." The reptile replied to her greeting in his usual manner.

Saber responded with her usual smile. It was a delicate shift in her tiny lips that very rarely met her eyes, which seemed to have 'bored' and 'unimpressed' registered as their default setting. Well aware of Koga's reserved disposition, she had come to accept his short replies as tolerable despite her usual standard of courtesy.

A lady had to make some compromises living in these conditions, and if she started a dramatic spectacle every time something minor hadn't gone her way, she'd be no better than Grey.

It must be rather hard to talk at all with such a horribly long tongue after all...

"Can you move? Please." A gruff voice stole her attention.

Grey. As if she had summoned him with her thoughts, the problem child appeared before them. Shifting her gaze to meet the boy trapped in the ruggedly handsome body of a well developed and tan man, she looked him over shamelessly before blankly staring up into his eyes as if she hadn't heard him speak. It was truly a travesty that such a specimen was being piloted by a cranky eight year old...

Allowing him to act as he pleased or even verbally acknowledging the brute would only encourage him. Knowing how to deal with the man all too well, Saber simply continued to stand in Grey's path as if to tell him that he'd either have to slide past or try to forcibly move her. Though it seemed that Koga had a different idea. Saber watched with a frown as the blue haired boy stuck himself above her head and shot a remark down towards Grey.

Ordinarily this would lead to some form of physical confrontation between the two boys, but before anything else could be said or done, Fang made her presence and opinion on the matter known. Glancing over her shoulder to watch the gilled woman slam into the wall before sliding into the bathroom, Saber let out a tiny giggle, only to have her gaze shoot back down the hall upon hearing another familiar voice and the unmistakable patter of massive feet across the tile floor.

"Out of the way, the Emperor claims dibs on the shower," Tagas hastily pushed past Grey, his sweaty body barreling to the bathroom as if clothing hand't been invented yet. Without much time to react, Saber found her gaze falling down to the monster of a man's tail as he passed. The one that wasn't lifting the weight. Though her expression didn't shift in the slightest, the Weavile hybrid's face grew a bright shade of red, and as Grey let out an pained scream in response to what had just happened, Saber simply looked up at Koga. "On that note, I shall see you at briefing." She said before darting into the bathroom.

Whilst she gently rinsed her teacup, Saber glanced into the mirror to see Fang going through her own routine of brushing her maw of razor sharp teeth. Eager to distract herself after seeing Tagas bare it all, Saber wasted no time in speaking despite considering Fang a rival of sorts. " Valentina said today is to be a big day... Do you think it's a new test? Or perhaps maybe they've finally decided that it was time to bring Dusk back," She said conversationally before reaching up and adjusting a strand of her crimson hair.

Tagas heard the scream that Grey let out. Now, Tagas wasn't fluent in childish screams, as he was more used to the manly way of communicating with one's fists, but he was pretty sure Grey was announcing to the world that he was in shock over Tagas's 'size' and how his didn't compare. Then again, he was pretty sure no one's did.

He washed his body, sighing as the water warmed up his body. It felt so good to him. He looked down at his chest. Shockingly, the large scar across his chest wasn't hurting at all. He would have figured that it would be screaming in pain, but no, it was totally fine. He gently used his fingers to trace over the huge disfigurement, sighing to himself. He had this scar for as long as he could remember... What caused him to get it? He clenched his fist, promising himself again that he would never be in a position to gain another one like this.

Tagas focused back on the warm water, before realizing that he should wrap it up. As Emperor, it was his right to hog the shower, but as Emperor, it was his duty not to be selfish. He turned off the water, sighing as he shook the excess water off of himself and slipped into the giant sheets that were supposed to pass as clothes.

"Well, I'm done. Whichever one of you ladies is next better get a move on," He said as he walked out, heading over to the sinks to brush his teeth.

Once the hybrids had finished their morning routines, they slowly trickled down the hallway into the much too large cafeteria for breakfast. There was now less than a half dozen of them. The cafeteria could easily sit several dozen people. Valentina awaited them, an apron depicting bright pink flowers over the drab white that they all wore. The apron was somewhat vestigial, however, it wasn't as if she was the one cooking their breakfast. If one were to get up early in the morning, they would catch a team of chefs preparing meals for each of the geminis, per their specific dietary needs. Fang was a specific challenge amongst the group, her carnivorous teeth and propensity for meat made it difficult to achieve a well-rounded diet for her. The cooks tried their best, however. They picked up their meals from the serving counter before taking a seat.

There was a different atmosphere that hung around the meal that morning. Tagas and Grey still competed to see who could eat their meal the fastest, the latter nearly choking because he didn't take the time to chew his bacon. Koga still played with his food, tossing it overhead only to snatch it midair with his tongue. And no doubt Saber made mental quips about it all and despite the fact that she kept most of them to herself, it was almost impossible not to hear every scathing thought. However, despite the familiarity of it all, the air was heavy with expectation. Valentina hovered close by, her Kangaskhan on the fringe of vision, as it normally was. There had been very few occurrences where she had been instructed to step in, but each of the hybrids would vividly remember the towering Pokemon's scary ability to show up at a snap of Valentina's fingers. It didn't share her caring disposition and seemed to be all stick, as opposed to carrot, in matters of discipline.

The sound of Dr. Hunt's footsteps were unmistakable. They were impossibly purposeful and distinct against the small conversation that had arose between the hybrids, each one marked by the soft tap of the cane he carried. It did not take long for them to fall silent. Dr. Hunt was silver with age, but somehow did not look old, his features still sharp. His typical lab coat was pristine and unwrinkled, bleached so harshly it was nearly painful to look at. He peered at the test subjects, one eye covered in what appeared to be a modern adaptation of a monocle, every couple of seconds a digital image could just barely be seen hovering in the sleek blue glass. Dr. Hunt stared at the five of them, his face impossible to read.

Despite the fact that they had spent two years in the compound, Dr. Hunt had only made an appearance a handful of times. The last time he was here, Dusk had disappeared the next day. They had received word that he had been sent to solitary. This was no doubt still fresh in all their minds. Perhaps he was here to take another person away.

Dr. Hunt allowed the silence to sit a moment longer before speaking. "You will each be tested today. This benchmark is very crucial, it is important that you do not disappoint us." His voice was like a whetstone against steel; he was preparing them for a challenge. "There will be a visitor touring the compound today. I expect everyone," Dr. Hunt glared at Grey and Tagas,"to be on their best behavior. If you see our visitor, only speak if spoken to." He let the message sink in. Disobedience would not be tolerated this afternoon. Of course, on days when Dr. Hunt showed up, it never was. "That is all." He punctuated the end of his short address with a double tap of cane, causing a quick burst of blue light to travel the length of the tool. They all watched him leave in silence, the aura of his authority cinching the lips of even the most rowdy of the group. It wasn't until the sound of his footsteps completely faded that Valentina spoke up, her sing song voice particularly out of place against the oppressive silence that had overtaken the room.

"You have been given you're regularly mandated training off this morning to prepare for your benchmarks this afternoon. You may use this time to prepare however you like. The gym is open to you, as are the sparring fields, and the library," the wide smile dropped slightly, "don't let me find out you wasted your time."

With that, they were dismissed.

[spoiler=OoC]

You, the player, have now been officially introduced to Dr. Morgan Hunt*. Of course, your character has known him for years. Two years, to be exact. He's not exactly a familiar face around the compound, but he's not one you want to see often anyway, so that's probably a good thing. Bad thing, is that he's here now and it sounds like he has a test planned for you all. You have some free time to prepare. You can go to one of three places. The gym. This is pretty much what it sounds like. It's a gym. You work out. There are trainers there that can help you and sometimes will provide you with workout regimens/training programs. The sparring fields are to engage in combat with each other or approved sparring Pokemon from the Training PC. The library contains all the books at the compounds that are approved for the hybrids to read, as well as computers with their specialized intranet access, giving them access to preapproved and special made websites. Or, you can do nothing. It's your choice. And every choice has its consequence.

*For more information regarding Dr. Morgan Hunt, please refer to his NPC application. It can be found here in the OoC.

The morning dragged on, well the early part of it. After Tagas pulled his little stunt and left the bathroom, it finally gave Koga some time to wash up, as he started splashing cold water on his face before staring at himself in the mirror. There were always days he didn't recognize himself when he looked, and today was just one of those days. He only gave off a small sigh, before grabbing a nearby towel with his tongue and proceeding to dry his face with it before leaving the bathroom in a hurry.

Today will hopefully be better than yesterday... he thought.

iU8EggM.png

It definitely didn't feel like it when HE walked into the cafeteria. The he in question being Dr. Morgan Hunt. Koga immediately thought this was a sign of something bad. Why else would the doctor himself show up before them? The only other time he was here was when Dusk was still around...and the day after that the poor guy was gone. Gone into solitary for something.

Koga kept quiet as he sat in his normal position, his red eyes fixated on Dr. Hunt as he spoke.

"You will each be tested today. This benchmark is very crucial, it is important that you do not disappoint us. There will be a visitor touring the compound today. I expect everyone, to be on their best behavior. If you see our visitor, only speak if spoken to. That is all."

Tested? Koga thought, watching intently as the doctor left the room. It was true that there were usually tests performed, but what made today different than any other day? And a visitor? There aren't usually visitors around. They must be special to the doctor.

With all this taken in, and hearing Valentina say what they could do now for the time being, he leaped from his position, performing a small back flip before landing back in his crouching position. Koga slowly stood upright before walking past Valentina before stopping. "Thank you for the meal..." he said simply before leaving the cafeteria. There were quite a few options out on the table for him right now...

The gym could provide good training, he could run their agility obstacle course again. Or perhaps he go to the sparring area and have a chance to fight against either other Hybrids or maybe a training Pokémon. There usually were some amazing Pokémon to spar against, so maybe that could be an option. Or perhaps...he'd just return to his room to meditate. It was a tough decision, so tough in fact, that he looked up...or rather down and noticed he had walked into a wall and up it until he was hanging upside down on the ceiling.

Yet again...I find myself in this predicament. Koga simply thought, with a slight grumble.

A soft but clear tapping noise could be heard immediately after Valentina had finished saying what she thought necessary. It had been going on at a steady pace since the hybrids had been seated, only stopping once, and that was of course when Dr. Hunt had addressed the group. Having been sitting through the briefing with her usual bored expression, Saber continued to rhythmically tap her abnormally strong nails against the table as her thoughts betrayed her pokerface.

Though she could respect the manner of witch Hunt strived for perfection to some degree, something about the man just inherently made her skin crawl. Aside for the fact that she very much hated being talked down to, Dr. Hunt seemed to be a manifestation of her captivity in human form. It was all bearable on most days. The restrictions. The tests. Even the horribly daft white clothes that served as their garments. But when he was here? She felt like a prisoner. Like a bird who had forgotten she was in a cage until someone shook it...

Sensing Koga spring up and make his exit, Saber was stirred from her thoughts. Glancing down at the table, she realized that her tapping had become rather quick and aggressive, even going as far as to leave a visible scratches on the crisp white surface. She studied the scratches for a moment, before attempting to discreetly glance over to Valentine to see if the woman had noticed. She then glanced back down at her nails and sighed at the sight of a minute chip in her bright red nail polish. She'd have to find time to repaint them now.

But before that, it would wise to blow off some steam. Peering over the faces of the remaining hybrids in the room, Saber's feline eyes settled on Grey. His loud mouth and brutish demeanor meant that he was always an ideal outlet to vent her frustrations, and the fact that he healed rather quickly made it so that she didn't have to restrain herself. In essence, he was essentially a hunky scratching-post...

Despite her beauty and eloquences, something about the way the girl moved always had a subtle predatory air. Raising up from her seat with grace, Saber daintily glided through the room. Stalking her way towards Grey, she allow her nails to gentle slide across the table and up his forearm, leaving four thin scratch marks all the way up to the sleeve of his shirt as she leaned in so that he lips were nearly touching the back of his ear.

"Come here, boy." Her voice was almost a whisper as she addressed him like a puppy, her preferred manner of provoking man. "I feel like a lesson is in order. Perhaps I'll carve some manners into you this time..."

Quickly pulling away, Saber moved to the exit. "The food was lovely as always miss Valentine. Thank you very much." As she passed Valentine, the girl offered the woman one of her usual smiles before darting into the hall in hopes that she were moving too quickly for the woman to catch a mind to lecture her about conduct or defacement of property. Though one of the properties she scratched up would probably have healed by now...

As she stepped into the hallway, Saber smirked whilst she studied her nails once more.

Hm, maybe I'll paint them with blood.

"Valentina said today is to be a big day... Do you think it's a new test? Or perhaps maybe they've finally decided that it was time to bring Dusk back."

"A test," Fang answered, toothbrush in her mouth and running around over her sharp teeth, leaving the inside of her mouth a minty blue color from the toothpaste. "Call it a hunch, but I don't think we'll see Dusk anytime soon. Max is still in solitary. Sunday is still in solitary. They didn't even do anything huge, so we'll probably see them before we see Dusk." Fang ran the water again, filling her hands with water before taking it into her mouth, swishing it around, then spitting out into the sink. "Whatever it is, we'll find out eventually."

And sure enough, eventually had come. Not much later in the day, at breakfast, he arrived. Doctor Morgan Hunt, the head of the labs. His appearances were a rare thing indeed, so him showing up personally to announce what was happening made it abundantly clear to Fang that whatever it was, it was no small deal. She set down her breakfast of bacon and eggs to hear him out, looking attentively at the head honcho.

"You will each be tested today. This benchmark is very crucial, it is important that you do not disappoint us. There will be a visitor touring the compound today. I expect everyone, to be on their best behavior. If you see our visitor, only speak if spoken to. That is all."

Fang nodded in acknowledgement, before returning to her food. She listened as Valentina addressed the group as well, but didn't get up from her seat until all of her food was eaten off the plate. Sometimes she wondered how other hybrids' food tasted, like salads. However, her digestive system, not to mention her teeth, weren't suited for those. Meat was what she lived off. She was a carnivore, plain and simple, and she honestly was fine with that. She glanced around to the rest of the hybrids once she was done eating. Koga was gone. Saber was up to something involving Grey, she didn't really care what.

I'll spar with someone. Koga, ideally.

With that, River got up and made her exit. She had to find Koga, which couldn't have been that hard. Sure enough, he didn't take long to find, hanging up on the ceiling. He sure was on the ceiling a lot today. "Koga," she called out, looking up to where the boy was. "Get down here. We're sparring; somebody agile instead of an opponent that relies on brute strength like Tagas or Grey is a tougher opponent, so I'm coming to you first."

While Koga was still pondering what to do, and also preparing to drop from the ceiling, his name was instantly called by an individual.

"Koga. Get down here."

He slowly looked up...er...down, and saw Fang standing there in quite the uninterested fashion and seemed unenthused about coming to find him. No surprise though. Koga knew that Fang was quite, he supposed monotonic was the word he could use to describe her. Just everything to her was all about winning, at least in his eyes.

"Very well..." he simply said, moving a bit and dropped down in front of Fang, before standing upright to stare at her. "How can I help you?"

"We're sparring; somebody agile instead of an opponent that relies on brute strength like Tagas or Grey is a tougher opponent, so I'm coming to you first."

A sparring match with Fang? If memory served him, this young girl had sharp razor like fangs and her skin was as rough as sandpaper...if sandpaper was rubbed against another piece of sandpaper. Maybe even rougher than that! That said, Koga found this to be a bit interesting that she came to him first. But then again, her logic was sound to begin with. An opponent that requires brute strength to attack would be suicidal at the moment...especially if the "Esteemed Emperor" and Grey were the only options.

"Sparring, huh?" Koga started, closing his eyes for a moment before opening them up. "I'll comply to this. I too have been seeking a bit of a challenge, without having to take on the bulky tanks that are Tagas and Grey. Consider your invitation to battle, accepted."

"Come here, boy. I feel like a lesson is in order. Perhaps I'll carve some manners into you this time..." For the second time that morning, Grey nearly choked. It wasn't uncommon for Saber to act this way, she tended to look at Grey much as he would imagine a female Pyroar would look at its prey. It was uncannily predatory. She made him feel nervous; he didn't like feeling nervous. Searching for some snarky witticism to throw back at the scarlet haired vixen, Grey only managed to mumble something out about punching her in the face as she left the room. He gritted his teeth in frustration, snapping the tray his food had been on underneath the pressure of his immense strength.

"Grey! That's quite enough!" Valentina chastised him.

"Whatever!" He retorted, throwing the two halves of the dishware to the floor before following Saber out of the room. They both knew the way to the sparring room, however, she led the way, leaving a trail of claw marks like taunting bread crumbs. Grey hated how she acted so nonchalant, so remiss, about the fact that he was about to beat the smug grin right off of her face.

The sparring room was actually several rooms, created by temporary walls that could be moved as needed depending on how many sparring matches were going on. The field was fairly nondescript. Grey and Saber took their places across the level terrain from one another. Grey, deftly cracked his knuckles, ready to fight.

"And class," Scarlet said, her voice low and breath, "is in session." She flared out her dangerous nails.

"Shut up." Grey charged, bringing his hands up for a crushing two handed overhead blow. His attack lacked any sort of technique, but even without activating his inducible gene the strength behind it was apparent. He was willing to cave Saber's head in.

Tagas swallowed his food and grinned as he heard the news. Someone was coming to evaluate them? Then it seemed it was time for the Emperor to shine, to show his mighty strength. Still, even an Emperor must practice from time to time. He looked for a sparring partner, but the others had scurried away with the others, all avoiding him. Tagas's from grew wider, as this confirmed something he had known for a long time.

The Emperor had no equal.

Standing up, he headed to the training area, setting up targets of various heights and distances away. Walking away from them, he placed his hands levels to his chest, balling them up into fists. A golden energy began to surround his hands, building up quickly. He then thrusted his hands forwards, firing a golden ball of energy, which flew at a target and exploded on contact. He smiled a bit, but took note that he would have to find a way to speed up the time needed to fire a powerful shot.

So, the Emperor worked on his energy attacks quietly, ignoring those around him. He would be the strongest. It was his duty as Emperor.

"Shut up." Grey responded to her taunt with his usual brand of wit.

Feeling her hair flutter from the sudden updraft created when he lifted his hand's high above his head, Saber stood oddly stationary as her eyes darted around Grey's form. He was surprisingly fast for his size, but perhaps that was because he simply didn't have much a brain to weigh him down. What was really bothering her though, was his lack of technique...

Are they sure they didn't splice him with a Tauros?

Saber's feline eyes narrowed with disgust as the man's fists came crashing down in crushing blow.

"How unsightly..." Grey would hear Saber's voice from his left side. She had darted out of the way of his strike at the last moment with a sudden burst of speed. Her active mutation wouldn't be necessary if he were to continue to fight at this level...

Bringing her bare feet to a sliding halt across floor, she attempted to playfully swipe her manicured nails across the side of Grey's face whilst he lurched forward for his two handed strike.

"Here." Saber cooed before suddenly springing into the air with inhuman agility. Pivoting her entire body as if she were preforming a dance, she swung her leg down towards Grey's head in graceful round house kick.

That wasn't an invitation, you idiot. Either way, he accepted. It made bringing him along a lot easier. Fang led the way to the training room, and observed that they were far from the only hybrids here. In fact, it seemed that just about everyone was here. Tagas was training on his own, and Grey and Saber were in a fight of their own. As long as they didn't get in her way, that was fine. Whichever one of those two wins, I should train with them too once I'm done with Koga. Her future ambitions would have to wait though. While she was by all means sure she could beat somebody reckless like Grey, or someone who seemed to always taunt her opponent like Saber did, Koga was the person in front of her, and she'd have to show him first that she wasn't losing any fights today. Not on any normal day, and especially not on an important test day.

As such, Fang got into a fighting stance, arms directed in front of her and eyes focused intently on her opponent. She gave Koga a nod, and nothing more.

Run right into me. I dare you.

Koga made his way to the training room, doing his best to observe Fang some. It was true of one thing: she was ferocious in combat. While Tagas was ferocious in brute strength and appearance in general, Fang was ferocious in...her ability to strategize. From what he could see, this young woman had a strategic mind and the power to go with it. At the same time, she usually does anything to win...cheating isn't outside the realm of rules for her. Win at all costs...that is essentially Fang.

It was something about this attitude that Koga despised from her. Far as he could tell, the others had absolutely no problem with a fair fight. It was just her that was the oddball out, so to speak. But now, standing on the battlefield, staring at Fang herself...he began to contemplate what he could do.

She's expecting me to make the first move... he thought, seeing that his opponent, was in fact...not rushing towards him or immediately attacking. He only saw a nod from her, saying that she was ready.

Koga exhaled slightly, before making a move. He did, indeed, rush towards Fang. However, he began to perform at least two front flips, before shooting his tongue onto the ground, giving himself enough force to jump over Fang. With that being as quick as he could, he shot his tongue at Fang's ankle and immediately pulled her leg out from under her.

Of course, he felt that her rough skin was in rare form today. Koga could feel the coarse and roughness on his tongue upon grabbing her ankle. He just knew he had to keep his distance so she wouldn't be in melee range. As quickly as he struck, he backflipped away from Fang, taking a defensive stance.

Koga made the first move. He started toward Fang, but suddenly jumped up and over her. Fang felt his tongue wrap around her ankle, pulling her down to the floor. Fang imagined that if she were, say, Tagas, this would be a concern. However, she wasn't that brute. She was smarter than that, and she had the power to deal with an agile opponent. Ideally, he would have wrapped his tongue around her ankle instead of simply using it to pull her leg out from under her, but in a perfect world, Fang would run everything herself. This was very much not a perfect world. Therefore, Koga's had the common sense to not keep his tongue on her.

Fang wasn't going to get anywhere just sitting and waiting for Koga it seemed. He could just keep striking her with that tongue. She'd have to close the gap herself. And so, Fang put her hands on the floor, and turned her attention to the water vents in her arms. She always thought hers was the best mutation, and today would be a great time to showcase just why that was. Fang activated the vents, propelling her off the ground, before glancing behind her to find Koga. There you are. Once Fang had spotted her target, she pointed her arms in the opposite direction, and set the vents off a second time, shooting Fang in Koga's direction.

Let's see who's faster.
