Yo, this is already some pretty good stuff!

First off, to resize, there should be a button labeled "resize" somewhere around the top left area. Make sure to resize by percentage, and do multiples of 100.

I'm noticing you've got a few missing pixels, notably at the back of the head-fin. These aren't huge issues, but are the kinds of things that can be avoided by going over your work carefully.

The concept on this piece is awesome, and the execution is pretty damn good. I'd say my biggest issue is lack of attempt to recolor. It is difficult to tell with a sprite of this size, but I am pretty sure you didn't bother changing the color on the whiskers, leaving them as very similar but not the same color as the face.

You say paint is acting up, preventing you from recoloring. I think I know what issue you are talking about. Try selecting the entire piece, and just moving it over a few pixels. This allows the erase tool (the primary tool for recoloring) to work on the relevant pixels.

Overall, I love the concept, but it's a little bit rough around the edges.

As a final note, I recommend keeping all of your sprites in a single thread so as to avoid flooding the section. It also make it easier for people to find them in the future.

Thanks for the great feedback. Would love to have you as a splice mentor someday. And like last time I'll have the feedback version up in a few hours. Also, I know how to zoom in Paint but how exactly am I supposed to get a side by side line of zooms into the actual thread?

I literally just save and post three separate images of different sizes.

  • 4 weeks later...

The only complaint I have with the most recent one is that the wing on our left could be positioned better, perhaps behind the shell? Also the ear on our right also seems to be a little out of position, I love the concept, but it seems like it got a little flat when you put it all together.

I also tried to get rid of the ears, since this started out as a rattata splice and then turned into this.
