Fire Emblem: Soul of Heaven [IC/PG-16]

Rona's heart skipped in excitement as her attack landed. Excitement that was immediately quashed as she failed to kill her foe.

Not only that but she proceeded to be attacked by not one but three of her foes. Sure, she managed to, in a panic, swing and connect with one of them, but each of the wounds were painful. And they all added up to leaving Rona a mess. She was bleeding profusely and she knew that she wouldn't be able to take much more of that.

She should try and get healing...but the healer was behind them. If she went backwards she couldn't be sure she wouldn't keep going. No, retreating even that far was not an option, she couldn't risk abandoning her comrades.

And what use would she be if she couldn't handle this much? She had already failed once today. "Never let your foe respond. A warrior kills with a single, clean, blow."

She was certain her allies were disappointed in her performance thus far. She had to do more. Go further. She had to prove her worth!

Except her path to the leader was blocked off. She wouldn't be able to reach him with these bandits in the way. But she couldn't go back. And she couldn't go forward.

Trembling, breathing heavily, Rona felt herself begin to question. Begin to think. Being to overthink. With a shake of her head she shouted and swung her axe down upon the Barbarian in front of her.

As she did Cormag let out a fearsome roar.

So far, it went well for Aleithe. The two bandits took his provocation and attacked him, and he managed to dodge both of them and landed a hard hit on the barbarian. Taking off momentarily on top of Reina as the bandits attacking him were still reeling in confusion after his dodge, he took the time to observe how Chitose, Cassia, and Yue were doing. They were still dealing with two enemies right now, and one seemingly had managed to land a hit on Cassia. She seemed to be doing pretty well at least despite of it, and their archer managed to stay safe for now. Now as he was sure that Chitose got that side handled well, Aleithe cirled around the two bandits, and dropped down behind the barbarian he attacked earlier, diving with a hard strike on him, hopefully enough to end him.

There were other enemies currently behind him, so hopefully he would be able to draw their attention too from this position.

[spoiler=OOC]

Aleithe circled the two enemies attacking him and attacked the barbarian he wounded earlier, and designating fighter A to be countered

The mercenary seemed pretty tough compared to most other bandits Yue had fought. The girl shivered in relief at the fact that the others had decided to help her. "Thanks, Chitose!" she bit her lip, "A-and Cassia," then turned her attention back on the enemy sword-user. Not only hardy, but also strong. One swing of his sword had been enough to heavily injure the thief. Sure, Chang'e didn't like the girl, but then again, Chang'e didn't care for most people. Sure, something about her set Yue on edge, but...she had helped her. So she would return the favor.

"Watch out!" she warned the thief, loading her bow, before setting her sights on the mercenary, keeping both eyes wide open. Her sifu had taught her not to be tempted to close an eye, as it actually harmed more than it helped. And her sifu was the wisest, smartest person she knew. His words had never once led her astray.

Thinking of her sifu, knowing that she was safe...both of these factors helped to calm the previously panicked girl, steadying her aim. Breathing, out, she let loose the arrow.

[spoiler=OOC]

Yue stayed in the same place, and aimed for Mercenary A again.

"Dammit Rona, what are you doing?!" Ada yelled at the wyvern rider, while switching from one tome to the other with ease. "Leon, Layne, hold it down over here! I'll be right back!"

Ada dashed to her left, ignoring the discomfort that the heavy robes gave her in doing so. She managed to catch her footing before barreling into one of the buildings, spinning on her heels to face right. She popped open the second tome, quickly beginning to chant as she pointed at a bandit before her. Her target seemed to have missed Chitose with his swing, and Ada saw her opportunity. Her chanting rapidly increased as a dark miasma rose from the pages of the book, lurching forward at the axe user.

"Chitose, take him out!" She cried as the semi-solid magical mist obscured her view of the fighter, "Rona's blindly charging, we need to get Layne to her safely!"

[spoiler=OOC]

Ada moved left three, attacking Fighter B with Dusk.

Designating Fighter D for counterattack.

This man they were attacking... didn't really sound like they were hurting him. He just seemed to shrug it all off, before swinging his sword down on Cassia. That hurt. Quite a bit. Cassia, in retaliation, swung her knife into the man once again, a fair bit harder this time. That was better. Cassia was about to stab him again, when she heard a voice from behind her.

"Watch out!"

Cassia turned, to see Yue was preparing an arrow aimed right at the man she was fighting. The thief briefly ducked as the arrow soared over her, and into the man. He seemed done with the fight now. Cassia briefly poked at the now-fallen man with her dagger, to make sure he wasn't getting back up. He was definitely dead. Not getting up. Note to self, check the guy's pockets later. But that could wait. For now, there was still fighting, and although she was only in it for the money, somebody on her team dying entirely because she prioritized looting some dead guy over dealing with the ones that were still alive would just be a massive inconvenience she wasn't willing to deal with. So instead, Cassia got back up to her feet, turned, and winked straight at Yue.

"Nice shooting, cupcake."

Now then, back to the battle. Chitose was fighting another guy. Best to help her with that. Of course, Cassia didn't really want to get cut by another weapon. That first hit stung like a jabroni, and Cassia was pretty sure she didn't want to experience a second hit. So instead, the thief's new plan was to use Chitose as a meatshield, the same way Cassia herself had just acted as one for Yue. Cassia moved herself into a position where she was behind Chitose, and took a brief glance at the dagger she'd just stabbed the other opponent with. With a brief shrug, Cassia took aim to get an angle that went past Chitose and into the man in front of her, before throwing the dagger. Now this is more my style.

[spoiler=OOC]Cassia moved one space down and attacked Fighter B with her Iron Dagger. Praise throwing knives.

"Rona!"

A loud groan escaped Layne as he watched the wyvern rider continue her charge, even after the assault she just faced. His face was equipped with a perfectly frustrated scowl as he glanced around the battlefield, doing his best to assess the situation as quickly as he could. Rona was clearly going to refuse to retreat, she kept up her assault even after sustaining heavy damage. A quick glance around the field gave him a look at the others, taking in their wounds quickly as he mumbled to himself briefly, his hand rubbing along his head slowly. "Cassia! Get to me as soon as you can, I'm going to Rona. You're next!"

His hand gripped onto his staff as the end of it began to glow slowly, and Layne broke out into a dash towards Rona. His coat fluttered in the air behind him from where it was wrapped around his waist, his hand tossing his staff up into the air as he got close enough to Rona. A brief flash of bright light shone from around it, before exploding from the tip of it. A bright glow surrounded Rona as he caught the staff, twirling it around in the air as a brief rush of relief washing over her body as the worst of the injuries were slowly patched up, the magical energies from the staff slowly fading from Rona's body as he plants one end of it on the ground. "I need a little bit of cover! I can take a hit I think, but I need some support..."

This is not good. I am way, way out of position.

[spoiler=OoC]

Layne used all five movement to get to the space beneath Rona, healed her for Base 10 + 3 Magic + 5 from Skill = 18.

Chitose/Tellan

In two clean hits, Cassia downed two enemy combatants, leaving the three clear for the time being. "You did well," Chitose gave the thief her thanks and ran forward. She was worried about Aleithe in the back dealing with the other group of enemies by himself, she couldn't see for herself with the building blocking him from them, but then there were two priorities here to take care of first. One was the fighter near their healer in the distance, the other was the other combatant faraway with similar equipment to the first one they fought. He'd be reasonably tough to take down, she reasoned, but keeping Layne alive was more important.

Blade brandished in hand, Chitose closed the gap between her and Layne. There, to her left was the fighter who was too near for comfort. How did this other group's formation become this messy in the small amount of time her attention was preoccupied on the fight on her side? Rather than waste the edged blade gifted to her, Chitose drew out the cruder iron sword with her free hand and slashed at the fighter. "Next time, don't make him come this close to the enemy!"

[spoiler=OOC]Right below fighter D, attacking with an Iron Sword. Counterattack on Mercenary B.

While the two axe users had managed to swing and miss against their mark, the womanly-looking man on the giant bird-like creature, they brought themselves back and got ready to strike at them again. However, taking his eye off them for just a moment, the barbarian hadn't noticed that the flier had circled away from where they were. He didn't get a chance to look for them as a sword slashed hard across his back, causing him to let out a pained scream before dropping.

Meanwhile, the barbarian Rona had attacked was kneeling on the ground briefly, trying to get over the massive hit he had just received. As he brought himself back up, though, ready to strike at the wyvern-rider once more, he was greeted with an axe striking his other shoulder, causing him to crumple onto the ground lifelessly. While Rona was continuing her fight up front, Leon looked to the side to see that it had been mostly taken care of by the other team, and thus was able to easily focus on aiding Rona out of her current situation. Rushing forward and to the right, he slashed at the back of the fighter who had been attacking the wyvern rider, delivering a nasty cut.

The mercenary that struck Cassia was ready to bring his sword down again and see if he couldn't finish the girl off. However, before he could, he heard the archer girl from behind the thief shout out, and when he went to look he felt a sudden thump hit him in the chest. Looking down, he saw a new arrow lodged in him, and looked prepared to go for another attack, without paying any real mind to the attack, before simply falling down onto the ground, lying motionless.

With the fighter being faced down with the girl in the bizarre armor, the man was ready for round two only to then be hit in the side by some kind of force. Looking over to where it came from, he saw the trailing mist left by the dark magic spell. His face paled a bit, seeing the strange magic in use, only for it to freeze entirely in place as two daggers struck into either shoulder, forcing the man to ground dead.

Following this, the other fighter nearest Rona seemed ready to take another swing at her until he noticed that the wyvern rider seemed good as new. A bit baffled, he looked over to see a person wielding a staff nearest them, and realized what had happened. Getting his axe ready, he hesitated before moving in, and this hesitation was greeted with a swift slash from Chitose, causing the man to collapse onto the ground from his new, fatal, wound.

Enemy Phase

As the barbarian dropped, the fighter to the side of Aleithe brought up his axe and swung it at the kinshi rider. Managing to catch them off their guard, the bandit's axe managed to find purchase in Aleithe's leg. As the man removed the axe from his target, he was then greeted by his target's sword in retaliation giving him a nasty would of his own.

Feeling the cut across his back, the fighter briefly looked away, wincing in pain. When he looked back, though, he saw that the girl atop the wyvern who had been previously nearly dead was...perfectly fine. In fact, it was as if she had never been hit by any of them. Feeling a bit intimidated by this immortal looking warrior, he looked over to the more injured man who had just cut his back. Hefting his axe, the man struck down with it, which Leon managed to just barely parry the blade away from him. Being knocked off balanced, the Fighter was then left open, and Leon took the opportunity presented. With a swift stab into the fighter's gut, the axe wielding bandit's grip loosened and his weapon fell to the ground as he slumped down onto Leon.

As the company leader was pushing the Fighter away from him, the sword wielding bandit farther back eyed up his opponents. Reasoning that the girl on the wyvern was not someone he would do much against, as his much physically stronger compatriots didn't seem to scratch her, he decided to go for the plain looking swordsman instead. Leon noticed that the swordsman was running at him, keeping some distance from Rona, but couldn't do anything to defend against the attack as the sword bit into his side.

Following this, the barbarian staring at everyone dropping near the wyvern riding girl nodded to his the sword wielding bandit nearest him before charging her. With axe in hand, the man took a swing at Rona, his first blow connecting solidly. Pulling the axe back, too fast for the girl to immediately react against, he slashed again at her, the second blow hitting as true as the first. With a wicked grin on his face, the man seemed very confident in his ability to win this fight.

The sword wielding bandit then took off after him, not caring to try and deal with the wyvern rider, thinking she was more suited to be dealt with by his axe nut companion. Instead, he was interested in the sword wielding girl in the foreign armor. Readying his blade, the bandit charged at her and struck forward slash against the girl, hitting true and dealing a good deal of damage. Pleased with his attack, he was then taken by surprise as the girl retaliated with a strike of her own, hitting with a surprising amount of force behind it. Thinking her to be an interesting opponent, he fixed his posture as he looked ready to continue the duel.

Player Phase
BGM

Though in pain, Leon was not willing to give up against the opponent before him. Not really paying much mind to the surrounding forces, he brought his blade up and swung forward at the mercenary. While his strike was successful, he was met with an equally successful strike by his opponent, as they had managed to deftly counter him. Stumbling a bit, the wounds on Leon's body were painfully obvious. However, the Iron Falcon leader picked himself back up, looking at his opponent with an expression unchanged from when he had first started fighting.

"Dammit Rona, what are you doing?!"

Oh no oh no oh no

"Rona!"

Nooooo

She cringed as she felt the healing magic work through her body. No, stupid, help someone else. She could take it. She could keep fighting. Dammit all why were they going out of their way to keep her healthy? If she couldn't fight them without risking the others then what good was she?

Rona felt her heart leap to her throat as Leon was attacked. Her leader had dodged and managed to kill his opponent, proving himself as superior yet again, but then he got attacked once more! This time by someone more skilled who had managed to land a blow.

So engrossed in that fight was she that she couldn't respond to the Barbarian that attacked her, cutting two light wounds into her body. She didn't care. That was not the important point. Leon was hurt badly. And had an opponent hovering over him.

She cursed her ill luck. The leader of the bandits was in reach and yet...she couldn't abandon her own leader.

At least this time she only had to move towards more combat, not run away from it all.

She urged Cormag into the air, keeping distance from the Barbarian as the wyvern roared again, and motioned for him to move towards the Mercenary. "Layne, heal someone more w...Someone who needs it more! I'll be fine! These wimps can't beat me!" she called out before swooping upon her new target, cutting downwards as she got within range.

[spoiler=OOC]Rona moved two to the right, attacked Mercenary C. If doesn't kill designates him as counter. If does kill designates Barbarian B.

Ah. Aleithe felt his own blood blood trickling on his skin. The bandit got his leg. The wound wasn't deep, but it was enough to make it hard for him to move around. He withstood it as he should, and attacked the bandit while he's still close with him. A clear hit, but he wasn't dead yet. The bandit tried to keep a distance between himself and Aleithe, but a wing flap from Reina distracted him long enough for Aeithe to swiftly strike him down.

One more down. It was weird, fighting on his own like this. Had he made a mistake? Leon trusted him to lead the side group in this attack after all, yet he chose to deal with this corner on his own. And now he's alone, and had no idea about what happened with the rest of the people here. It was quite reckless, and fighting alone like this felt more like something Rona would have done and probably would be something that got her close to being killed again.

He shook his head, and ordered Reina to take flight instead as he used a scrap of clothing to bandage his wound. He could see the leader from here, so perhaps...he had the opportunity to strike at him directly.

"...I really am starting to sound like Rona. I'm sorry."

Ada nodded as Cassia took out the barbarian, watching Chitose's back as she headed to begin clearing the way. However, she didn't expect to see Layne charging in to heal Rona, eve with how grievous her wounds were.

"Layne! Stay back, not y-"

He was healing Rona before she could finish. With a curse under her breath, the shaman girl hurried to follow Chitose back, only to witness her getting attacked by a mercenary, receiving a nasty hit. The myrmidon handily riposted, but the enemy swordfighter still stood. Ada took a place behind Chitose as her chanting reached a fever pitch, flinging her free hand at the mercenary. The miasma was upon the sworduser, Ada biting her lip in hopes it would hit. She had made more of a wall to protect the healer, but there was no guarantee it would work.

"Rushing in will only get us killed!"

[spoiler=OOC]Ada moves 3 right and 1 up, standing behind Chitose.

She attacks Merc B with Dusk.

She designates Barbarian B for counterattack.

"Don't tell me who to heal!"

After a brief, uncharacteristic snap at Rona, Layne grabbed his staff and pointed it directly towards Leon. A bright flash of light began to build up on the tip of his staff, before he looked directly to Rona, "It's my job to keep you all alive! If you go charging in like this, I can't keep up. You were in the most danger. I made a decision based on that."

Layne shifted his position to Leon's other side as he let the magic flow, Leon's battered and bruised body was reinvigorated as Layne channeled the light towards him, a little groan escaping him as he rubs his head softly, before beginning to speak again, "...Okay, it looks like the worst is done. Get everyone who's injured over to me as quickly as possible guys. We still have two more to take care of. Just give me some cover and get the others together..."

He rubbed at his head again as he mumbled, staying positioned behind Leon as he glanced around, taking stock of the field. He blinked at Ada, before his eyes widened a little bit, "Ada, be careful!"

His focus shifted back around the field, trying to get a feel for who was injured and where his next move should be. His hand tightened around his staff as he took a deep breath, his eyes closing for a brief moment as he tried to calm himself down.

Rona is going to get me killed one of these days.

[spoiler=OoC]

Layne moved two spaces to the right, underneath Rona and behind Leon. He used the Heal Staff on Leon to heal for 18 HP, bringing him back up to 20 HP.

Yue gulped as she took in the events of the battle. Layne had gotten to Rona right on time. If he hadn't made it... The archer bit her lip. That would've been bad.

And then the rest of the bandits fell over like bone tiles, or dominoes as others called them. There were just two left. A barbarian and the boss barbarian. Both of them looked really, really scary. I don't want to do this I want to run away but I can't run away I have to be brave my friends are in danger actually they look fine? Should I just...hide behind this building then? Honestly, she wanted to, but that was probably a bad idea.

Good idea, bad idea, in the end, she just had to go with the idea that was good, right? So...one step forward, two steps forward, three. There you go, Yue, she cheered internally. You're walking forward.

And then she was five feet away from the barbarian. It felt like those few steps had taken forever, but really, they hadn't taken very long at all. Taking a deep breath, the girl swung her bow up in a practiced movement, nocking an arrow and drawing the string back, and releasing it along with her breath. She trembled right afterward, hoping against hope that the bandit decided not to target her. Attack someone else, attack someone else, wait that's mean, uhh, attack nobody, attack nobody...

Cassia watched as the Iron Falcons - through their combined efforts - caused most the rest of the bandits to drop like flies. This wasn't really much of a fight after all, was it? She still stung from that attack earlier, but otherwise... it was like they weren't trying at all. If bandits weren't notoriously stupid, Cassia would think something was up, but in her experience, bandits relied on brute force because they couldn't think their way out of a paper sack. Seemed these ones weren't even able to defend their loot with the bandit go-to of brute force either. What a shame; they would all die, and Cassia would make sure to check the bodies for anything valuable once the fighting was done. Although, she had her doubts on anything of value popping up; if they didn't have wits and they didn't have strength, Cassia wasn't sure how to feel about their luck.

After all, they had gotten the attention of the Iron Falcons.

With only one guy left besides the boss, everyone didn't seem to want to waste any time ganging up on him. There wasn't really any flair to that, but Cassia couldn't blame someone for wanting to get the job done and get paid as quickly as possible. After Yue fired off her shot, Cassia followed up by running up to the opponent's side, and swinging her trusty knife at him. I'm always up to get some easy money, but this is ridiculous.

[spoiler=OOC]Cassia moved four spaces to the right, and one up, then went for Barbarian B with her Knife. Designating Barbarian B as counter target.

Chitose/Tellan

Luckily the situation wasn't as drastic as Chitose first thought. The enemies began dropping one by one, and as Ada moved behind her and blasted the Mercenary besides her with dark magic eliminating him entirely ("Much appreciated, Ada."), Chitose saw only two enemies left. A tougher-looking Barbarian all the way in the back, and the subordinate Barbarian right in front of her. Chitose was a swordsman, so she naturally felt inclined to target the closer opponent.

With both of her swords held in her hands, Chitose swung her left hand holding the Iron Sword at her target. But it was a feint, the maneuver instead allowed her to sheathe her left hand blade while surprising the opponent. It was at best an improvised form or technique she came up with on the spot and wasn't very graceful, it didn't even have a name. But it was enough to allow Chitose to, with her right arm that went unfocused on due to the feint, slash down vertically.

[spoiler=OOC]Chitose stays at the same spot and attacks with a Slim Sword. The feint stuff's just flavor text. Targets whoever is closer for the counterattack.

While the sword wielding bandit seemed to be confident in his ability to defeat the opponent before him, Leon seeming heavily wounded and off-balanced, he was not expecting what had come next. With a swift and sudden strike from an axe, the bandit crumpled to the ground under the force, now lifeless. As the healing magic mended the leader's body, Leon gave a small thumbs up to Layne saying, "thanks." He looked to Rona and with the same tone said, "thanks for the cover."

Nearby, the other squad of bandits seemed ready to brawl against the squad of mercenaries, though the sword wielding bandit's fervor was cut a bit short. As a black orb covered in a thick plume of black smoke struck the man, covering him in the dark smoke and pushing his body to the ground. He did not get back up. The Barbarian, however seemed to be ready to carve into the wyvern riding girl again. It was much to his disappointment, though, that she had flown away from him.

To make matters worse, and arrow had struck him in the back, followed by a knife. As he turned around, he saw a sword wielding girl adjacent to him. With an angered expression on his face, he saw the girl wielding two blades and swinging one at him, in a way that even he could tell was incredibly clumsy. This of course, inspired a confidence in him that she was simply terrible at fighting, and while he was able to easily dodge a strike that wasn't even a real attack, he in no way was expecting the sudden strike of the girl's slim sword, swiping down and creating a bleeding cut across his chest.

Enemy Phase

With his rage having reached a boiling point and being a bit delirious from the wounds he had accrued, the barbarian had stopped thinking straight. And so, he merely wished to finish off the sword wielder next to him who had just harmed him. With a roar, the man brought his axe and swept horizontally at the girl with it. However, both due to his own poor accuracy and the girl's deftness, he had struck nothing but air, only to then receive a blade in retaliation from his opponent. Falling down, it was clear that he had lost this duel.

The boss in the back sighed with an expression of annoyance on his face as he said, "useless, all of them. Well, more pay for me." Stepping forward he shouted to the group, "well come on! See if you've got what it takes to bring down me! Grass the Pain!" The man readied himself to fight against the oncoming group of mercenaries, though, he wasn't sure if they'd be able to muster the courage to step up to him after hearing his name.

Player Phase
BGM

Leon's expression hadn't wavered as the bandit challenged them, merely staring the man down. The end of the fight had been in sight, and with it their job. And so he looked to Layne saying, "try to patch up whoever you can before they engage the leader." With that done, blade at his side the mercenary leader began to advance forward towards the final target.

"Alright. Reina, let's end this."

Aleithe took off  from the ground once he was sure that his wound has been bandaged and Reina was still fine, and noticed that most of the bandits had been defeated, leaving only the leader. Everyone seemed to have handled it quite well, and his side did not seem to have suffered any casualties. Right. Rona. She was still doing fine, perhaps. He's a bit too far to see her clearly. But first of all, the leader of the bandits. He's in his range. Aleithe ordered Reina to fly straight towards the bandit, hovering on his side as Aleithe drank from his bottle of vulnerary to restore himself a bit for the upcoming battle.

"See if you've got what it takes to bring down me! Grass the Pain!"

"Bandit Grass, hereby in the name of the Iron Falcons, I order you to drop your weapon and surrender yourself. Your reign of terror in this town is over."

It would be foolish to immediately engage him in combat, so Aleithe simply pulled his iron sword and prepared himself.

[spoiler=OOC]

Moved to Grass' side, then drank a vuln and ordered Grass to surrender.

Ada wiped some sweat from her brow as the mercenary fell, taking in the state of the battlefield. There wasn't much she could do at that point, other than begin heading towards the leader. As she conisdered her course of action, she saw Aleithe move over to him while taking some medicine.

"Bandit Grass, hereby in the name of the Iron Falcons, I order you to drop your weapon and surrender yourself. Your reign of terror in this town is over."

Ada's jaw dropped, but the robes luckily obscured the... less than modest reaction. Was everyone suicidal? She sighed and shook her head, briskly heading towards the soon-to-be showdown. She considered swapping tomes, but decided against it, because she doubted the additional precision would help enough. She began to chant, keeping her eyes on the barbarian, just a few meters away from Aleithe and Grass.

[spoiler=OOC]Ada moves up 5. Designates Grass the Pain for counterattack.

Yue shivered at the sight of Chitose finishing off her opponent. It was...tricky. The girl had pretended to be clumsy (or maybe she really was that clumsy) and then used her other sword to attack the bandit. I wouldn't ever want to fight her. Then again she was an archer so that would end up being an incredibly bad matchup. I don't think I could ever use a sword, she thought. Way too scary. Good thing she specialized in less scary stuff. Like attacking people from a distance. It was still scary but not nearly as bad.

The girl tiptoed to the side. The man could maybe reach her here, but he'd have to go past Aleithe and Ada first. She wasn't keen on getting any closer until somebody else stood there in front of her though. Somebody less...squishy than Ada. The archer glanced at the others and wondered who'd be up first. Maybe Rona? That girl was super brave, always throwing herself out there. Or maybe Aleithe. Her swordplay was probably good enough to go toe-to-toe with the man. Or even Leon, their ever-responsible leader.

All she knew was, it wouldn't be her.

[spoiler=OOC]

Yue moves two steps to the right.

Layne stared in disbelief as he looked forward, his eyes locking onto Aleithe. He just blinked at the nerve that the man had to step forward as he did, a little groan escaping him as his hand slapped his face suddenly, "All of you have death wishes."

He twirled his staff as he moved down and quickly shoved his way past Leon, giving him a little wave, "Stay safe! Don't let Rona charge in on us! Let the bandit come to you! I need more time to get everyone healed up!"

He quickly ran over to Cassia, stopping just behind her as he began to spin his staff, the light starting to overtake the tip of his staff again as he rises it into the air, the flash absorbing into her skin quickly as he grumbles a little bit. The light patched up the worst of her injuries as he turned his attention to the side, calling out once again, "Chitose, fall back to me, you're up next for healing! Do not engage!"

[spoiler=OoC]

Layne moved down 1 and to the left 4 spaces to the space below Cassia and used his staff to heal her back to full HP.

"well come on! See if you've got what it takes to bring down me! Grass the Pain!"

No, she didn't. But it was thankful that she didn't have to bring him down. She just had to attack him and hope for the best. She doubted she could defeat the leader of this group but as long as she attacked him they couldn't say she was doing nothing. That she was a coward. They wouldn't toss her aside.

Aleithe, of course, beat her to the punch. Ada and Yue also got into position. Soon they would be upon the leader. But Rona was falling behind. She couldn't afford to just sit back and wait.

Cormag took to the skies as she just barely heard what Layne had said. "I need more time to get everyone healed up!"

Stalling for time. That was something she could do quite well. "Rona, attack the formation. Give us time to flank them. Don't fail me again."

Rona took off, charging forward and to the front of the bandit. She raised her axe up...and hesitated. He was stronger than the others...and they had almost killed her. She...couldn't do it. She couldn't attack. Not yet. She wasn't ready!

[spoiler=OOC]Rona moved up four and to the left two, didn't attack, designated Grass as counter.

"Well come on! See if you've got what it takes to bring down me! Grass the Pain!"

"...pffft!" Cassia had a perfectly serious expression on her face for a second or so, until a stifled laugh cracked through her lips. Followed by full-on laughter on the thief's part. "I really hope your parents didn't give you that name! What kind of name is Grass the Pain!?" What was next, a dread pirate named Water the Hurt? Cassia simply couldn't take Grass seriously anymore with that name, and barely even noticed the light entering and healing her body, simply responding to it by turning and giving Layne a nod and wink of acknowledgement. Aleithe, meanwhile, seemed to be taking Grass just as seriously as Cassia, with his bold demand that the bandit leader surrender.

If lawbreakers were known to surrender simply because they were told to, Cassia imagined things would be a lot different in the world. She didn't expect a surrender out of Grass, and prepared a knife accordingly, after taking a moment to regain her composure. One final snicker escaped her mouth as Cassia started toward the bandit leader, making sure to keep a bit of distance before saying "Our job's only to get you out of here, living or not. What say you call it a loss since you're clearly outnumbered, then you and I get some dinner later and figure out a properly intimidating name for you, hm~? If you behave, who knows what else could be waiting for you?"

Cassia didn't imagine they were very keen on persuasion either. Didn't hurt to try.

[spoiler=OOC]Cassia moved two spaces up and two to the right. Designating Grass the Pain as a counter target.

Chitose/Tellan

Seeing her blade fell the barbarian, Chitose began running straight for the remaining enemy. Her injuries were endurable enough, she just had to dodge whatever was coming and her counterattack would likely finish him off (or so she thought). The end of the skirmish was within sight and Chitose grew restless. She of course wanted to show off to the new member and what better way to do so than to strike the finishing blow? It would also communicate to the rest of the group her desire to contribute. For the moment, she forgot how dangerous the battlefield could be.

Until the healer Layne's voice broke her line of thought. He shouted to her, and warned she stay clear. The warning made her stop her feet a moment. The next second she noticed the pain she felt from her ankle. After running around the field, dodging blows from the mercenaries, and the journey to reach this town beforehand, with her weak constitution this was only natural. She didn't feel the pain at all in the heat of the battle however. Chitose realized right away how fatal this sprain could've been if she had simply rushed forward, and her feet turned cold.  "Ah!... Erm, I... understood!"

[spoiler=OOC]Chitose moves one space up and then one space to the left. Still quite close to Layne and still outside the boss's reach. She sets the boss as her counterattack target.

Enemy Phase:

As each and every one of the Iron Falcons stared to converge on Grass the Pain, the bandit leader looked to the first one who had approached him. "Me?! Surrender?! Oh lady, you don't seem to understand who you're dealing with here! I'll break your legs and sell your fancy shmancy bird to the highest bidder! Ahahaha!" As he bellowed out a laugh, his attention was then grabbed by the wyvern riding girl who flew near him. While she seemed like she was armed and ready to strike him, the man didn't seem to fear her any more then he did the rest of the Iron Falcons. Instead, a smile grew across his face as he said, "well, you seem a little lost, don't you? After I'm thorugh with these clowns and that scaly bat you're riding, I'm sure the boss'll be real pleased with you."

As the thief called her insult out at him, he then shouted, "what!? Grass the Pain is a terrifying name and my parents had great naming sense, you little-, ah whatever! All of you just die!" With that, he swung his axe at the first one to suggest surrender to him, Aleithe. Unfortunately, his axe swung wide, and he was not able to hit his mark. He was then answered with a sword strike from the Kinshi Knight.

Ada saw Grass whiff his swing, only for Aleithe to punish him. He didn't look like he was dying yet, but it seemed like the hit did a good amount of damage. A small smile crept over Ada's covered face. She swapped her tomes out again, popping Shade open to begin chanting, her mind wandering.

"Rona seems deadset on going for the leader... and she would probably end up getting herself killed. But this... we can work with."

The shaman began to move, the smog beginning to build from and float above the open tome. As the spell reached its zenith, Ada slid in next to Rona, taking a shot at the leader of the bandits. As the Shade smoke made its move on the enemy, Ada waved to the wyvern rider flying next to her.

"Take him down, Rona!"

[spoiler=OOC]Ada moves left 2, up 1, and attacks GRASS THE P A I N with Shade.

Designating GRASS THE P A I N for counterattack.
