Railway Ritual Concepts

I've been thinking on a nekroz style ritual ability / utility for trains and how it could boost consistency for railway

Railyard Summon

Ritual Spell Card

This card can be used to ritual summon "Master of Trains". You must also tribute 1 monster from your hand or field, or banish 1 xyz monster you control or from your graveyard whose level / rank is exactly 10. You can banish this card from the graveyard, then target 4 earth machine type monsters in your graveyard, shuffle them into the deck then draw 1 card. You can only activate each effect of "Railyard Summon" once per turn.

Master of Trains

Level 10 Earth Spellcaster ( attack : 2900 / defense : 2500 )

You can ritual summon this card with "Railyard Summon". This card's type can be treated as machine while on the field and in the graveyard. You can only use each effect of "Master of Trains" once per turn.

- You can discard this card from your hand, add 1 level 10 earth machine type monster from your deck to the hand

- Pay 1000 lifepoints, inflict 3000 damage to your opponent's lifepoints

originally I had a level restriction on the monsters that could be shuffled back by railyard summon's effect, but then I removed it to allow more synergy between the level 4 monsters. If it's too strong let me know

Not seeing why Trains need a Ritual of their own, considering they're doing fine right now as-is; bar maybe issues with Night Express if you don't draw him and/or Switchyard.

Ritual Spell is fine; least it'd have more use over Scrap Recycler returning Railcars for the most part. But problem is whether/not it's worth it for the monster this is intended to be summoning (as I don't think they want to tech Foolish Burial Goods just for this).

The monster itself technically is another search copy of Switchyard, which I suppose is okay; burn effect is questionable and already outclasses Gustav Max. I suppose it helps with getting another body on board, so...there's that, I guess.

The Ritual Spell is fine as-is; giving those changes would be overkill and going into unknown territory (tributing a monster that lacks a Level to Ritual Summon).

As I mentioned earlier, Spell is fine; Ritual Monster itself is partly a clone of Switchyard with a much larger burn effect than Gustav, even with the LP cost (as that is usually laughable). You may want to look at what Trains actually need right now and replace the burn with that.

(Then again, why are we treating it as a Machine when this is based on the railroad controller?)

I think this could be improved on. If you're trying to get Trains to run these cards, I recommend that this card could Special Summon Master of Trains from your tHand or GY so you could Special Summon Master of Trains after discarding it.

To further this, I would rather it just banish the Machine that would've been returned to the deck, opting out to add the card back to your hand. This would make it so you only have to run 1 if all you really want is the ROTA for the archetype it would be fine.

- Pay 1000 LP: Inflict 3000 damage to your opponent's LP.

Wait Spellcaster? I understand he's running the train, and he's treated as a machine. I mean I guess this stops him from searching himself, but you could just say "with a different name."  Whatever this is fine too.

The 3000 LP damage is a bit degenerate and could lead to some easy OTKs for the archetype. Instead, I recommend putting this at 1000 damage and then adding an ability for whenever your opponent takes damage from an EARTH Machine monster for some synergy.

I think it's cool that with the new Link Format there has been a sudden sprout of interest in Ritual Monsters. If this balances the subtype of monsters with the other Extra Deck monsters at least a little bit, that would definitely be an improvement, especially with Trains since they don't really swarm with Extra Deck monsters (unless you're using the Deskbot version).
