Yu-Gi-Oh! Of Monsters and Myths [OOC/R-16/Started/Accepting]

Recommended Posts

[spoiler=WIP]

Name: Ignatius

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Depicted in: Igknight Cavalier

Alignment: Chaotic Good

[spoiler=Desc.]

[spoiler=Personality]

Ignatius has all the teenage angst. He is very judgemental, hates awkward moments, and doesn't listen to authority very well. He also doesn't help his Igknight brethren in most fights. He is more about giving himself the glory for a battle or the honor of the kill, and went hesitate to jump into a battle, even if he is unprepared.

[spoiler=Backstory]

Ignatius joined the military just like all of his brothers. He joined at age 18 because he couldn't wait to start fighting. But, since he is the youngest of his brothers, he doesn't get very many chances to prove that he is a useful ally. This is probably the source of his attitude. Considering he doesn't usually get to do much, he gives himself more glory then what he is due, and this pisses everyone else off. He doesn't care though. But one day this attitude will get him in severe trouble.

One thing to note, Kyumi: Igknight Cavalier is explicitly stated as being female. As in it says it right there on the card. "The vaunted weapons of this pink Igknight have inflicted as much damage to her enemies as to her own troops, but she gets results so very few complain."

Alright, I can change him to be a her, but would it be okay to keep him a male? I am just curious, as I would have to give him a new name in order to change his gender.

Igknight Cavalier is female, and so if you wanted to play that character, she'd have to be female.

That said, I'd recommend not playing an igknight in the first place, since that archetype is part of an extensively established card storyline (dracoslayers). Having a charactee like that in the party makes it difficult for me to plot out the rp, since i'm more or less required to weave the story into that plotline.

[spoiler=Personality]

Blake once was a cheerful boy, full of life and hope, and was always seeing "la vie en rose". And as the Mage Guardian of his home, he has tendency to think always of others before himself, taking on extra burdens for the sake of his comrades. He also has a strong sense of morality and empathy: He cares greatly for his subordinates' welfare. Moreover, he, and his HERO friend "Bladedge", were lovable and respectable in their town.

However, after the incident, Blake has changed, A LOT. He lost his faith and hope in this world and was corrupted to become a twisted demon.

Nowadays, it doesn't take long to dislike and avoid Blake: The fact he's rational, sadistic and cold is just the tip. Furthermore, there is that invisible "demoniac aura" roaming around him, due to his demonic powers. It cannot be sensed by regular species but it gives them a slight feeling of discomfort when they're approaching him; hence why he is not the social kind.

He rarely shows interest nor emotions, giving a dark impression to others. His manner of speaking tends to be very classy and articulated, and he has no sense of humor at all.
He is also a decisive person that will reach his goals no matter what it takes, even if it means joining a lame party to hunt some muggles.

However, sometimes when it comes to someone, not a foe, but also not a friend, facing a deathly situation, he always tend to save him/her/them. Maybe there is still good in him ...

[spoiler=Backstory]

Blake was born in a family of magicians in a large town. Blake was a faithful, driven, and brave soul. He decided to start his training as a Magician in a young age, continuing his family's legacy.
He kept training and successfully became a companion of his town's HERO "Bladedge". He was considering him as his idol and cared for him deeply, yet it was mutual, which strengthen their relationship and made them the perfect teammates.
They kept protecting their hometown and successfully defended it against invaders, until one day ...

A strident noise broke through the battle scene, making everyone stop and direct their attention to its source. It was the signal of their demise. The countdown was announced - 10 seconds. Even though it was running fast, time seemed to take an eternity to pass. Both rushed against it, the ruthless machine, while fighting against the despair dwelling inside them.

"There is no Solution but the darkest Spell!" Blake shouted in despair.

"NO!" "Bladedge" screamed
They were now one second nearer to the end. Each milisecond was too precious to be lost with the Midnight Fiends surrounding them, threatening the well being of their bodies, even so, they insisted to be in their way.

A millenia had passed. Blake, cursed with the forbidden contact that endowed him with demonic powers, wondered the worlds looking for a way to resurrect his beloved dead friend.

They said that, hundred of years ago, a twisted demon in a shape of a human-race entity, deceived more than 50 innocents and sacrificed them in a dark ritual to revive his beloved one

But he failed. For a millennium, none of his gruesome rites nor the darkest relics seemed to work as he desired: The full resurrection of his HERO friend. But will he ever stop trying?

[spoiler=Inventory]

Vicious Claws: A powerful pair of claws he had acquired through his timeless journey. Mixed with Blake's magic, he can also use it to Summon vicious strong Demons.

Sword of Dark Rites: A sword that imprison the souls of those slain by it. The more souls it has, the powerful it got.

Fiend's Hand Mirror: A magical relic that is used to reflect an amount of damage. Furthermore, Blake exploited to its full potentials: He uses it to hide his demonic appearance, disguising as a human in his former-human appearance.

[spoiler=Powers and Ability]

Magician: Before he was cursed to live eternally as a demon, Blake was a magician-companion of a HERO, but because of the damned contact he made, he's now only able to cast black magic spells.

Demon: His demonic powers granted him advanced sensations and quick reflexes and enhanced both his physical and magical strengths.

Warrior: Because magic alone is not enough, and since sometimes he has to keep his demoniac identity secret, he skilled his human-physical fighting strength by mastering his "Vicious Claws" and "Sword of Dark Rites".

Strong will: It is shown in his durability against the dark entity that granted him the power of demons. It seems that it was totally suppressed and imprisoned deep inside Blake's Soul.

[spoiler=Misc]- He loves rainy days and cute pets.
- is actually gay.

Also going with a WIP for now, just to get an early start.

[spoiler=Rahz]Name: Rahz

Age: 35

Gender: Male

Depicted In: Field-Commander Rahz

Race: Human

Alignment: Lawful Good

[spoiler=Description]PY9QJc5.jpg

[spoiler=Personality]Rahz is a man who aims for a balance between upholding the duties of a soldier for his country, as well as his responsibilities to do right by his people. He believes that there is potential for good in the world, but fears that even the greatest kingdoms will only ever be as good as their kings. Though the title of Field-Commander may seem prestigious to the common citizen, his fellow soldiers see him as a man with little ambition to strive for something even greater, such as a general leading even greater armies into neighboring territories. However, Rahz prefers to stay in a "middle" ranking. High enough that he holds some influence within the military, but close enough to his people that he does not see himself as superior to them. Above all else, Rahz is content to be a man for the people.

[spoiler=Backstory]Rahz was born in Dynaklos, a village within the kingdom of Laustmillen. As the son of a butcher, Rahz longed for a more admirable calling, and sought a place within the military. The king of Laustmillen was a tyrant to be certain, taking much of the people to fill up his own treasury without any care for the welfare of the populace, but Rahz hoped to become an ally for the people even under the king's thumb. When the people staged a revolution against the king, Rahz gave a half-hearted attempt to keep the people at bay, as he was more concerned with his fellow guardsmen slaughtering any peasant who such much as looked at them funny. The king caught word of Rahz "slacking off", and after a harsh scolding, Rahz was presented with an opportunity. The revolution was embarrassing, but there were bigger concerns that needed to be dealt with.

The black knight known only as the Dark Blade was leading an army into Laustmillen. Rahz was elected to lead a platoon of soldiers to head off the Dark Blade's forces long before they would reach Laustmillen. It was a clear suicide mission, but Rahz understood his options. He was to either die in battle, or be sentenced to execution. Refusing to accept execution, Rahz led his gathered forces - which were admittedly more sizable than he had expected, as the Dark Blade was indeed a serious threat - past the mountains. Rahz anticipated that the Dark Blade would plan for hostiles, and prepared for a surprise attack. When Rahz's forces finally found the Dark Blade with his army, Rahz commanded his platoon to simply trail behind, as they had been vastly outnumbered. When a section of the Dark Blade's army broke away from the larger group, Rahz and his soldiers picked off the smaller section. As more and more sections split off, Rahz would continue to whittle down the army.

There were several casualties on each side, but Rahz was confident that his group had an advantage. However, he realized that the splits were too sloppy. For as fearsome as the Dark Blade's reputation was, the fragments that Rahz kept fighting were sent off in fewer numbers, until only they could only find a single soldier standing against them. Before they were finished with the seemingly lone straggler, Rahz realized that all of the other fragments were nothing more than bait to draw out Rahz. Before Rahz and his men could flee, the Dark Blade himself appeared, cutting through several of Rahz's men. Though several of Rahz's men tried to flee in terror, Rahz himself ordered his men to push forward.

For a while, the battle actually seemed like it could go either way. Though Rahz lost several men in the battle, so too did the Dark Blade. Eventually, Rahz's men began to outnumber the Dark Blade's, so the Dark Blade went after Rahz directly. Though the Dark Blade seemed nearly victorious, his aggressive tactics suddenly turned defensive. Seeing an opportunity, Rahz nearly delivered a killing blow to the Dark Blade, but the knight fled, amused by Rahz's efforts. Although Rahz tried to pursue the Dark Blade, there were no signs of the knight. For the moment, Rahz considered the day a victory.

Mere hours along their journey home, Rahz's platoon found a lake. The first thing they could hear was a woman's laughter. It was playful, yet harmless. A nymph appeared before the soldiers, most of whom suddenly, save for Rahz. The nymph introduced herself as Aqueria, assuring Rahz that men were in no danger. They were all exhausted from battle, and she was letting them rest so they could heal. Aqueria revealed that she had witnessed Rahz's battle against the Dark Blade, and attempted to cast a similar spell on the Dark Blade, but the knight had managed to resist to any extent. Nevertheless, what little she managed gave Rahz the advantage in the battle. The nymph had also heard of the Dark Blade, but suspected that he had been kept at bay for now, though warned that he may return one day. Aqueria praised Rahz for leading the soldiers, and allowed them safe passage past the lake, and invited Rahz to return one day.

Rahz considered the offer, and promised to see her again, as payment for her help in fighting back the Dark Blade. Rahz continued on his path, leading the surviving soldiers back to Laustmillen. The king was surprised - even angry - to see Rahz return, believing him to be but a coward who had abandoned his duty. However, several of the king's scouts reported that they had followed Rahz, and could confirm that he indeed drove back the Dark Blade's forces. Begrudging the soldier's success, the tyrant promoted Rahz to the rank of Field-Commander. If the Dark Blade had indeed been driven back, then Rahz was expected to prove himself the next time the knight would return.

Following through on his promise, Rahz sought out the lake where he met the nymph. Aqueria was kind, but as an aqua spirit, she was bound to the lake, so she could stray too far into the outside world. She longed to hear stories of Laustmillen, and wanted to hear what Rahz knew. Rahz didn't believe he had many stories to share, but even the most ordinary anecdote was fascinating to Aqueria. Rahz came to enjoy Aqueria's company, and she his. Rahz's life alternated between his obligations to the military and visiting Aqueria, though his duties as a soldier often took precedence, so he would go days, if not weeks without seeing her. In the times when they could meet, Aqueria made a suggestion: To test the limits of her connection to the lake. Each day, Aqueria would walk with Rahz in the direction of Laustmillen until it began to strain on her body. After two years of practice, Aqueria finally reached Laustmillen, and could even spend nights away from the lake.

By the time Aqueria had reached Rahz's home, Rahz had made a decision. He proposed to Aqueria, offering that the lake did not have to be her only home, so long as she wished to be together with him. Aqueria happily accepted, and though several raised their eyebrows at the thought of Rahz marrying a woman who was not a human, it was hardly a problem. Soon, Rahz and Aqueria's family grew with the birth of their daughter, Eria. Although the Dark Blade has not appeared again since that fateful day, Rahz continues on as the Field-Commander of Dynaklos Laustmillen, waiting for the day that he can stop the Dark Blade once and for all.

[spoiler=Inventory]Rahz only carries what he considers to be the bare essentials of travel, brandishing a standard-issue military grade sword, as well as enough food and water to last him for a few days until he needs to restock for supplies.

[spoiler=Powers and Abilities]Although Rahz became Field-Commander over the course of a punishment, Rahz has maintained his rank over the years through a tactical mind and an able body. Rahz often prefers to read his enemies before taking action, so although Rahz may not possess extraordinary talents on the level of even apprentice spellcasters, Rahz makes up for that with military strategy.

[spoiler=Misc.]In Merciful Idiot's Pathway to Origin, Rahz has appeared as the father of Eria the Water Charmer, and I am staying close to that portrayal here.

Rahz is accepted.

1200 years had passed. Blake, cursed with the forbidden contact that endowed him with demonic powers, wondered the worlds looking for a way to resurrect his beloved dead friend.

[spoiler=Inventory]

An old Diary: Well, that what it looks like. It's his magical book where he saves his spells and conjurations. Also it can be used to imprison souls of those with a weak will. Many souls were imprisoned by Blake in this spellbook for his own experiments. Eventually, they fade into oblivion.

Morningstar Blade: A powerful sword he had acquired through his timeless journey. It is said that it was used by "Darklord Morningstar" himself in the Rebellion.

Ixchel's Necklace: A necklace adorned with a magical crimson gem that gave him the power of shape-shifting and the ability to charm others. The charming-spell is very much effective against sensualist species. Blake mainly uses the gem to hide his demonic appearance, disguising as a human in his former-human appearance.

A grey cute cat: "Nanaba", his beloved cat pet. She's always there with him, wearing "Ixchel's Necklace". With the latter's charm, Blake can transform his cat to a winged grey leopard, either to use it as a transport medium or during a fight.

[spoiler=Powers and Ability]

Magician: Before he was cursed to live eternally as a demon, Blake was a magician-companion of a HERO. However, because of the damned contact he made, he cannot conjure white magic and holy spells. On the other hand, he's now able to cast the most damned spells.

Demon: From advanced sensations and quick reflexes to brainwashing creatures and curse them to become his own demonic slaves, his demonic powers granted him eternal youth and enhanced both his physical and magical strengths.

Paladin: With great power comes great weaknesses: Blake struggles when fighting against someone who uses white-magic or light/sacred sourced powers; his damned/dark nature made him and his magic vulnerable against those who mastered the arts of the sacred. He compensated this weakness by skilling his human-physical fighting strength and mastering "Morningstar Blade".

Strong will: It is shown in his durability against the dark entity that granted him the power of demons. It seems that it was totally suppressed and imprisoned deep inside Blake's Soul.

[spoiler=Misc]- He loves rainy days and his grey cat.

Blake is denied. While I'm a fan of the concept in principal, the app itself was lacking in a few key areas. Blake's personality section was particularly lacking; other than being an antisocial loner with a good vocabulary, I was unable to pin down what kind of person he is (or was, as the case may be). His Backstory was interesting, but again the only details I was given were about his transformation into a demon. Who his HERO companion was is unclear, as are the details of his life prior to and after the transformation. Lastly, his evil alignment and powerful magic weapon made him feel out of place when compared to the rest of the characters I was presented with.

The rest of the apps appear to be incomplete.

IC will go live asap. Hopefully today, but that depends on me finishing Seith's character sheet first. If not, Expect the IC to go up on sunday.

Cause his past doesn't matter (well for me and for the character itself, I think), he was just a regular HERO companion so it's nothing special. I guess got carried away cause I wanted to make something different, since almost everyone went for chaotic/good xP

[spoiler=Sarcastic Little sheet]

4CCQ2AI.jpg
"Oh yes, please tell me more about your trivial story that matters so much to me."

Name: Ceri Hywel

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Depicted In: Gagaga Girl

Race: Human

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

[spoiler=Description]WCjpX7l.jpg
Height: 5'6"

[spoiler=Personality]Ceri is a girl who's got a mean streak a mile wide. If it's coming out of her mouth, odds are it's either a command, or her bitter flavor of snarky remarks and sarcasm. An objectively pleasant conversation with her may well be impossible, and while she admits that people probably don't deserve the crap she gives them, it doesn't mean she won't give it to them anyway. If someone's performance isn't up to her standards - which it never is - she'll tell them bluntly, though likely won't offer advice on improvement since she'd rather not chance being wrong. In the same vein, Ceri typically isn't one to make blind guesses or take a gamble or risk. It's rare for her to be content even when winning, so as one might imagine, Ceri hates losing. The reason is simple.

Ceri is, by all accounts, a perfectionist. Perfectionism and magic can be an unhealthy combination, since no matter how well Ceri performs, she ends up believing it to be subpar and inevitably spots a new way to improve her craft, before repeating the cycle over and over again. Never being good enough for her own standards stresses Ceri out, and she copes with snark and sarcasm. As such, she believes the day that her verbal attacks will stop is one that will never come. While she's a great study, and a hard worker who doesn't mind sacrificing some time for her research, Ceri is also noted to dislike studying with others.

If Ceri wants something done, she wants it done right, and the only person she trusts to do it right is herself. Believing that having to rely on others will only weigh her down, she'd sooner read an entire library of books alone than split up with a team and compile notes when everyone was done. In her experience, others also lack the distinct care for making sure everything is just so. Ceri is very much the obsessive-compulsive type, and can easily get caught up on minor details until she goes back and fixes them herself. A window left just slightly open, crooked decorations, and other imperfections grind Ceri's gears right quick, and she'll by all means take it upon herself to fix them.

Ceri also has a very special disdain toward bards, mostly because she's jealous that she isn't one herself.

[spoiler=Backstory]Ceri's life story traces back to the green hills of Albion, hailing from a long line of powerful summoners. As a child of the Hywel family, Ceri was to be taught the art of summoning when she came of age. This was not at all what Ceri sought in life. She wanted to be a bard, adopting the tales of bold knights and mighty sorcerers into epics and songs that would bedazzle the masses. However, she was also not one to break tradition. Traditions were such because they worked, and just as she wasn't about to defy such things, Ceri believed in taking the most optimal path in life. She was surrounded by great summoners who could instruct her in their craft, but no great bards were to be seen in her area. Ceri resigned to her fate before long, and proved to be the prodigy the Hywel family expected of her.

On the other hand, despite being the firstborn of the family, Ceri was not to lead the Hywel family when her parents would someday pass. It was the older of two brothers that would take the reins. Ceri was harsh, but a genius summoner and a cunning (albeit rather unfaltering) negotiator. The younger of the Hywel brothers had little to no magical talent, but was a just and fair boy. The older brother got the worst of both worlds, and the best of neither. However, tradition dictated that he was to be the head of the family. Ceri, still not being one to break such things as tradition or rules, saw him groomed into a proper head of the family, despite her personal feelings that he was horrifically underqualified in all possible aspects. When it came time for him to start making decisions under the supervision of Mr. and Mrs. Hywel, Ceri kept herself quiet as long as she could as one poor decision after another slowly led the family into ruin, before finally being driven to the point of action. Ceri had to intervene, and she did so with an ultimatum. Denounce the underqualified brother as head-to-be of the Hywel family and let Ceri lead in his stead, or Ceri would see herself out.

Ceri was the would-be leader of the Hywel family for all of a week. Politics were not her strong suit, and her attitude didn't make matters any better. Ceri appointed the younger brother - a boy who made up for his lack of magic with a strong sense of diplomacy - her replacement while she "left to study foreign politics up close". The reality was that Ceri, unable to lead the Hywels herself, and unwilling to see someone else do it instead, decided to get the hell out of Albion, so she could focus purely on perfecting her summoning.

Ceri's inter-zone journey started just a year ago. Along the way, she picked up new techniques and tools, most notably the Hell Phone, which she finds far more efficient as a magical medium than a staff or wand. Her travels have now brought her to Orva, a zone she plans to use more as a pit stop than a source of summoning knowledge. Ceri doesn't particularly believe that a zone that worships overgrown lizards will have much to teach her about summoning extra-planar monstrosities and bending them to her will.

[spoiler=Inventory]Wonder Wand: The Wonder Wand is a distinctly powerful yet generally useless tool. It has the ability to turn an ally into a powerful barrier or a healing spell by killing them, but only with their consent. Ceri, specializing in summoning magic, is very much able to use the Wonder Wand properly.

Hell Phone: The conduit for Ceri's magic. The Hell Phone lets her dial a number and create an appropriate summon. It seems to be capable of communicating with other devices like a normal phone too, but lacks a speed dial function. If the batteries on the Hell Phone die, anything summoned by it disappears. The batteries have solar panels on the back. How eco-friendly!

[spoiler=Powers and Abilities]Demonology: The ability to summon demons from beyond. Ceri in particular uses the Hell Phone for this, finding it more efficient than a staff or tome as long as she keeps the batteries charged. It seems that controlling a demon is much more difficult the first few times it's summoned, so Ceri prefers to keep her demonic contact list small, but well-rounded.

Necromancy: The ability to bend the corpses and spirits of others to one's will. By Ceri's account, undead summons are more powerful than demons, not to mention the lack of free will makes them infinitely easier to command, with the tradeoff being that it requires pre-existing corpses and/or spirits. Necromancy also drains the batteries on the Hell Phone faster than demonology, so Ceri prefers to not use it unless she can tell that it's a safe move with a high payoff.

[spoiler=Sarcastic Little sheet]

4CCQ2AI.jpg"Oh yes, please tell me more about your trivial story that matters so much to me."

Name: Ceri Hywel

 Age: 17

 Gender: Female

 Depicted In: Gagaga Girl

 Race: Human

 Alignment: Lawful Neutral

[spoiler=Description]WCjpX7l.jpgHeight: 5'6"

Finally!!! I updated the app as suggested.

I extended his personality and bio, giving more details about his past and his HERO friend. I also tweaked his power/inventory section to be more realistic and similar to the others'.
