Got inspired by "Make a Xyz Monster" Gamu. So I made this beauty. *smooch*
Anyways, the card. It's a ranked-up Number 98: A Dark Law Macros Cosmos while it has +2 Xyz Matts, AND Crystal Wing-Book of Moonish hybrid effect.

I feel that I done goofed... OH YES... it's generic... buuut Lightning is a thing aaaand we live in a format where Extra Deck size is a serious issue. Also it has an average ATK & DEF stats. So I believe it should be fine. I hope...

With the new nerfs, we have now double-edged Marcos on legs, except for dem anti-meta decks that can main Macro/Fissure (looking at you >.> Barrier-Dyna). It still has its Book of Moon negation, the thing that makes it worthy, however it can only targets SS monsters.

yay/nay

Nay IMO. This outclasses not only Evilswarm Nightmare, but also Dark Law so hard; really, why play HEROes when you can just splash this in anything that can Summon a 2-material Rank4? Yes, that's an exaggeration because it would be missing HERO support and whatnot, but you get the idea: this is a bigger Dark Law backed up with a better Evilswarm Nightmare effect, and it's generic. Its average stats, which are actually not so average for a generic 2-material Rank4, isn't as much of a balancing factor when it can flip face-down whatever threats it and then run over it.

And yes, Utopia Lightning exists, but IMO that's not good a fair card to take as example.

Why did they name it Antitopia? DYSTOPIA was like the coolest name. Anyway, it's generic for Rank 4s. The effect itself isn't as broken but the fact that so many decks can make this so easily is the problem. However, in a world where 1 card Crystal Wing is a thing, I think this could be healthy for the majority of decks that can't do that.

I think maybe the Dark Law effect is a bit overkill though. I'd rather you not get rid of it, but maybe nerf it somehow, like make it only if it's sent from the field, or if it's sent from the deck. One or the other.

Darj be serious here power creeping Evilswarm Nightmare is like power creeping Shapesnatcher at this point. It's a cool tech card but tbh it's been years and barely anyone uses it anyway.

Also, that is some awesome artwork. I'd tell you to work for Konami but Idk if that's a good work environment.

Nightmare is still good, you know? It is not seen often because not many relevant decks can access it due to its material requirements, but in decks that can and have the resources to back it up, it gets to shine every now and then.

I couldn't use quotes CAUSE GOD there are too many arguments. With all that being said, yeah I agree this card is powerful, but is it True Draco powerful or Nova Powerful?
I mean yeah, it's generic but I can only imagine it being added as a side-deck option since it's taking 2 slots from the Extra Deck. Also comparing to Nightmare is from a point or another like comparing Laggia to Dolkka. But I get it, this one is generic and Nightmare isn't, so it gets +10 pts. I still find Dark Law more attractive than this one cause (with the HEROes love) it can be summoned to your opponent's turn and disturb dem searches.

But yeah, grosso modo, I'm nerving this card:

ATK 2450 / DEF 2050

3 Level 5 DARK monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 98: Antitopian" you control as the Xyz Material. (Transfer its materials to this card.) While this card has 2 or more Xyz Materials, any monster sent to your opponent's GY is banished instead. Quick Effect: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; negate its effects then change it to face-down Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Destopian the Darkness" once per turn.

again, yay/nay?

EDIT:

Also, that is some awesome artwork. I'd tell you to work for Konami but Idk if that's a good work environment.

oooow >///< Thank you

Yay. I like the idea that you rather have to keep in position or go all out with the other ability. That was pretty creative.

Also this would totally be main decked. That would be like saying Utopia the Lightning would be main decked because it's only use is being a 5k beat stick, and it's really only helpful in situations like Blue Eyes CHAOS MAX Dragon.

Then, if not Nightmare, the next closest Xyz to compare the effect with is Dragulas', although Dragulas gets to float and remove a card when it's flipped face-up so it has a plus there; on the other hand, this has the one-sided Macro, which to me it's worth more. Funnily enough, the nerf you dropped on your card makes the effect even more similar to Dragulas', while still having more ATK than it, if only by 50.

Besides, I don't think Dolkka~Laggia is a proper analogy to this~Nightmare: Dolkka and Laggia negate different things, while Nightmare and this stop the same things, but Nightmare gets to do it up to twice during the same turn, but without negating the effect.

Anyway, even with the nerfs it is still good. It's true that it can quite taxing on the Extra Deck space, especially if you intent to run it along Utopia the Lightning, but still, dropping this during the first turn will put most opponents in a really tight position; and even against non-grave dependent decks, the Quick Effect BoM + negate is reliable enough.

How about banishing monsters/cards from both sides? Now that would be more of a double-edged sword, except in decks that can main stuff like Macro and Dimensional Fissure with no problems, of course.

Thanks. Also Lightning was out in a time of need, where Towers-the-boss.dek; Leo Dancer, Chaos MAX, Ultimate Falcon, were a big threat. But now that we get used to it, it's jsut generic 5k beatstick and for some decks an alternate winning condition. Definitely a staple that can help you at any time of the duel.

What I meant with Dolkka&Laggia thing is that Dolkka negates monsters effects (our guy) while Laggia negates Summons (Nightmare) (& Spells/Traps...). But yeah you got a point there (lot of points actually, and also literally... look at aaaaall dem dots MA GOID) Also I agree with you and like your suggestion, Imma take it.

Overall I just feel like the mark is missed in a few ways on this, except art which is v. spot-on for what you're going for.

For starters, the effect is way, way too strong for what this card is. Because you didn't have any sort of additional condition or cost to its summon, what this card becomes is the strongest Rank 4 in the game, and by no means in a good way. You basically took Dark Law and Rafflesia and made it into one card for the same general summoning cost as Rafflesia. That's a pretty big no-no. I see what you've done in your attempts to balance it, but I feel like just making it weaker isn't doing this card any justice, especially for what you're trying to make it be. Overall, as a general rule of thumb, it's better to avoid self-rank-up summoning conditions where the only string attached is what you're summoning it on top of. Zoo's took this to an extreme and we all know how well that went.

In terms of balance, I recommend rethinking how it summons and works, especially in the stat department. The only part of the effects that reflects Antitopian is the position changing effect which was made stronger, but everything else about the card does nothing to reflect what Antitopian was. Especially in regards to the stats department, where it feels like you're trying to make the card resemble something else that isn't necessarily meant to be.

Finally, in the name and aesthetic department, pretty much only the art reflects what the card wants to be; nothing about the name or anything else follows suit with what Rank-Up monsters have been, or even does a good job of having it come across as a proper rival to Za Raituningu.

As far as the card goes, I feel like either it needs to be changed dramatically to allow it to fit the Antitopian flavor more, or the other route is just working to have this card be its own thing more, and abandoning the link to Antitopian. I feel with that route, it would give you more freedom to change the card up in what it does and what its summoning mechanics are, and you would really let it shine as its own thing.

May I ask what version you're talking about cause the thread was updated minutes ago and your comment just jumped out of nowhere and now I don't feel safe anymore.
