[Written, AGM] Black Luster [14/14?] (AGM's Chaos Ritual Engine)

[spoiler=Prompt]Technically speaking, this is barely an archetype. Most of their support cards are actually generic support for Level 8 Warriors, or Warrior-Type Rituals, in general, and even the specific support still has splash potential in things like Nekroz.

That said, they're mostly LIGHT and DARK Warriors whose effects are geared towards Ritual Summon or grabbing Level 8 Warrior-Type monsters in general, making it even easier to use Destiny HERO Plasma as draw engine fuel. However . . . besides being really great Ritual support that makes it easy to plop Warriors in your hand, Black Luster doesn't . . . do much. They're very consistent, and given that they can search BLS Envoy they always have at least some sort of potential to not immediately lose, but without any threatening power output or real protection, coupled with some awkward Levels that make Synchro and Xyz Summons harder than they need to be, Black Luster ironically has no real lustrous appeal.


[spoiler=Design Notes]Black Luster is an archetype of mainly LIGHT, DARK, and EARTH Warrior monsters. The EARTH monsters have an effect that makes them both LIGHT and DARK while in the hand or Deck, enabling them to be used for Super Soldier Synthesis, be searched by LIGHT/DARK searchers, etc. Many cards also have effects that trigger when Tributed or banished from the GY, two actions commonly used in BLS and Rituals.

They mainly support Rituals and Ritual Summoning, with effects like quick effect Ritual Summoning, and multiple ways to obtain draw power/searches when using Rituals. You can splash a few of them in Nekroz of YCM Heavenly Sovereign. They have uses in generic Warrior support as well, being able to search them and 1 monster acts as 2 Tributes for them. I tried to design the archetype to work closely with the original cards instead of replacing them. In addition to the Warrior Ritual support, the archetype can also turn your monsters in the GY/Banished Zone into LIGHT and DARK type, facilitating BLS Envoy of the Beginning as well as making it easier to banish your cards for their effects.

I tried making them have some of the weaknesses mentioned in the prompt as well. Due to the varied levels (1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8) of the archetype, Xyz Summoning (except for Rank 8) isn't that easy, and without any Tuners, Synchro is difficult as well. I deliberately ignored the "without any threatening power" part since the original BLS deck can pack quite a punch, letting you banish 3 of your opponents cards and inflict 6000 damage with 1 monster, despite being inconsistent. This version is different, but still able to deal some major damage. For protection, most cards don't have any direct protection, but instead "float" in a sense to maintain card advantage.


Note: "Beginning Knight" and "Evening Twilight Knight" are not in the AGM. I tried to take Black Luster in a different direction than the original support cards. However, I did try to take advantage of the cards we already had in the card pool, so many combos with Black Luster depend on the 2 Gaias, some BLS, and the Ritual Spells that already exist. I posted the originals in written form for easier reference.

Ritual Spell
This card is used to Ritual Summon "Black Luster Soldier". You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal 8 or more.

Super Soldier Ritual
Ritual Spell
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels exactly equal 8. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card, 1 LIGHT monster, and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster from your hand, ignoring its Summoning conditions. You can only use this effect of "Super Soldier Ritual" once per turn.

Super Soldier Synthesis
Ritual Spell
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster from your hand or Graveyard. You must also send 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster (1 from your hand and 1 from your Deck) to the Graveyard, whose total Levels exactly equal 8. You can only activate 1 "Super Soldier Synthesis" per turn.

Charging Gaia the Fierce Knight
LIGHT - Level 7 - Warrior/Effect - 2300/2100
You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. If this card is Normal Summoned without Tributing, its original ATK becomes 1900. If this card is Tributed: You can add 1 "Black Luster Soldier" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Charging Gaia the Fierce Knight" once per turn.

Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight
DARK - Level 7 - Warrior/Effect - 2300/2100
If your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. If this card is Tributed: You can Special Summon 1 "Black Luster Soldier" monster from your hand or Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight" once per turn. When you Ritual Summon a "Black Luster Soldier" monster, you can banish this card from your Graveyard as 1 of the monsters required for the Ritual Summon.

You can Ritual Summon this card with "Black Luster Ritual".

Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier
EARTH - Level 8 - Warrior/Ritual/Effect - 3000/2500
You can Ritual Summon this card with "Super Soldier Ritual". If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK in the Graveyard. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, or if this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent's card effect and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. You can only Special Summon "Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier(s)" once per turn.

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
LIGHT - Level 8 - Warrior/Effect - 3000/2500
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can activate 1 of these effects.
● Target 1 monster on the field; banish that target face-up. This card cannot attack the turn this effect is activated.
● If this attacking card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, after damage calculation: It can make a second attack in a row.

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Evening Twilight
DARK - Level 8 - Warrior/Effect - 3000/2500
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing all LIGHT monsters or all DARK monsters from your Graveyard, while you have an equal number of each in your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. While face-up on the field, this card is also LIGHT-Attribute. When this card is Special Summoned: You can activate the appropriate effect, based on the Attribute of the monsters banished for the Special Summon. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect.
● LIGHT: Target 1 monster on the field; banish it.
● DARK: Banish 1 random card from your opponent's hand face-down, until your opponent's End Phase.

Black Luster Soldier - Sacred Soldier

LIGHT - Level 8 - Warrior/Effect - 3000/2500
When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 of your banished LIGHT or DARK monsters and 1 card your opponent controls; return that banished card to the Graveyard, and if you do, banish that card your opponent controls. You can only use this effect of "Black Luster Soldier - Sacred Soldier" once per turn. When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can target 1 Level 7 or lower Warrior-Type monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.

DARK - Level 8 - Warrior/Effect - 3000/2500
When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 of your banished EARTH monsters; return that target to the GY, and if you do, it becomes LIGHT and DARK-Attribute in the GY, then banish 1 random card from you opponent's hand face-down until their End Phase. You can only use this effect of "Black Luster Soldier - Shadow Soldier" once per turn. When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can add 1 Level 7 or lower Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand.

Black Luster "C"
EARTH - Level 2 - Insect/Effect - 500/200
While in the hand or Deck, this card is LIGHT and DARK-Attribute. This card can be treated as a Level 1 monster when used for a Ritual Summon. You can banish this card from your GY as 1 of the monsters required for a Ritual Summon. If a Ritual Monster(s) is Special Summoned: You can discard this card; Tribute from your hand or field or banish from your GY, 1 "Black Luster" or "Gaia the Fierce Knight" monster, then draw 2 cards. You can only use this effect of "Black Luster "C"" once per turn.

Envoy of Black Luster - Dusk
DARK - Level 4 - Warrior/Effect - 1800/0
Quick Effect: You can discard this card, then target 1 Level 7 or 8 Warrior monster you control; this turn, it gains 1000 ATK/DEF and inflicts piercing damage, also, monsters it battles have their ATK/DEF become their original ATK/DEF during damage calculation only. While this card is in the GY (Quick Effect): You can banish 1 LIGHT monster from your GY, then add 1 LIGHT "Envoy of Black Luster" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Envoy of Black Luster - Dusk" once per turn.

Envoy of Black Luster - Dawn
LIGHT - Level 4 - Warrior/Effect - 1800/0
Quick Effect: You can discard this card, then target 1 Level 7 or 8 Warrior monster you control; this turn, it cannot lose ATK/DEF or be flipped face-down by your opponent's card effects, also, it cannot switch possession. While this card is in the GY (Quick Effect): You can banish 1 DARK monster from your GY, then add 1 DARK "Envoy of Black Luster" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Envoy of Black Luster - Dawn" once per turn.

Envoy of Black Luster - Dual Twilight
EARTH - Level 3 - Warrior/Effect - 0/2100
While in the hand or Deck, this card is LIGHT and DARK-Attribute. If this card is sent to the GY: You can return 1 Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell from your GY to your hand. If this card is Tributed, or banished from the GY: You can add 1 Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Envoy of Black Luster - Dual Twilight" twice per turn.

Terra, Protégé of Black Luster
EARTH - Level 1 - Warrior/Effect - 300/250
While in the hand or Deck, this card is LIGHT and DARK-Attribute. When this card is targeted for an attack or by a card effect (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card and a monster(s) from your hand or field, then Ritual Summon 1 Level 8 or lower Ritual Monster from your hand or GY whose Level is equal to or lower than their total Level/Rank. If this card is banished from the GY: You can add 1 Ritual Spell from your Deck or GY to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Terra, Protege of Black Luster" once per turn.

Terra, Squire of Black Luster
EARTH - Level 5 - Warrior/Effect - 2100/1750
Once per turn, if your opponent Summoned a monster during their last turn, you can Special Summon "Terra, Squire of Black Luster" (from your hand or GY). While in the hand or Deck, this card is LIGHT and DARK-Attribute. This card can be treated as 2 Tributes for the Tribute Summon of a Warrior monster. If this card is Tributed: You can add 1 Level 8 or lower Warrior monster that can be Normal or Ritual Summoned, from your Deck or GY to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Terra, Squire of Black Luster" once per turn.

Terra, Fierce Knight of Black Luster
EARTH - Level 7 - Warrior/Effect - 2300/2100
(This card is always treated as a "Gaia the Fierce Knight" card)
While in the hand or Deck, this card is LIGHT and DARK-Attribute. If this card is sent to the GY: You can target up to 2 monsters you control, in your GY, and/or in your Banished Zone; they become LIGHT and DARK-Attribute. If this card is Tributed or banished from the GY: You can make any number of EARTH monsters currently in your GY and/or Banished Zone become LIGHT and DARK-Attribute.


[spoiler=New BLS]The archetype was designed around taking advantage of already existing Black Luster Soldier monsters, but I couldn't resist making another one. ^.^
 

Black Luster Soldier the Chaoserene
EARTH - Level 8 - Warrior/Ritual/Effect - 3000/2500
Must be Ritual Summoned. You can only Special Summon 1 "Black Luster Soldier the Chaoserene" per turn. There must be an equal amount of LIGHT and DARK monsters in your GY to apply/resolve these effects:
● (1+ each) If this card battles a monster, after damage calculation: You can banish it face-down.
● (5+ each) Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 card on the field; negate its effects (if any), also, after that, banish it face-down. You cannot declare an attack the turn you use this effect.
● (7+ each) Cannot be Tributed or used as a Material by your opponent.

 


[spoiler=Spells/Traps]Chaoserenity
Ritual Spell
Special Summon 1 "Chaos" or "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster from your hand or GY (this is treated as a Ritual Summon). There must be an equal amount of LIGHT and DARK monsters in your GY (1+ each) to resolve this effect. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can banish this card, 1 LIGHT monster, and 1 DARK monster from your GY; add 1 Ritual Spell or Ritual Monster, except "Chaoserenity", from your Deck or GY to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Chaoserenity" once per turn.

True Chaos of Infinite Potential
Ritual Spell
Ritual Summon any 1 Ritual Monster from your hand, Deck, GY. You must also Tribute 3 monsters with different names and Levels from your hand or field, whose total Levels exactly equal 12. This Ritual Summon requires these correct Tributes. You can only activate "True Chaos of Infinite Potential" once per turn. If a monster Ritual Summoned by "True Chaos of Infinite Potential" leaves the field: You can banish this card from the GY; Special Summon as many monsters used for its Summon as possible from the GY, but their effects are negated and they cannot be used as Materials.

Shield of the Morning Glow
Counter Trap
When a card or effect is activated that targets a monster(s) or would destroy a monster(s) on the field, while you control a "Black Luster Soldier" monster: Negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. Once per turn, if this card is in your GY: You can return 1 of your banished LIGHT monsters to your GY; Set this card, but banish it face-down when it leaves the field.

Blade of the Evening Shadow
Counter Trap
When a "Black Luster Soldier" monster you control declares an attack: Negate the attack, and if you do, you can banish 1 card on the field. Once per turn, if this card is in your GY: You can return 1 of your banished DARK monsters to your GY; Set this card, but banish it face-down when it leaves the field.

Genesis of the Galaxies
Normal Trap

Reveal 2 Warrior monsters and 1 "Black Luster" or "Gaia the Fierce Knight" monster, with different names, from your Deck. Your opponent chooses 2 of them to send to the GY. Return the rest to the top or bottom of your the Deck (your choice). You can only activate 1 "Genesis of Galaxies" per turn.
