YCM Create-A-Pokémon Game

Flash Flyer - Sakura

Recommended Posts

(Sakura, get back to hosting the GPT if you have time to be doing this!)

But reminder aside, might as well do this one to see what you can come up with, given the constraints from other users. (This works the exact same way as "Create a [x] threads" in this section)

====

Do the prompt above yours, then choose up to 2 from the following list for next person to do.

  • Name
  • Type
  • Ability
    • You may use existing ones in Gen 7 or come up with your own. For the latter, just provide the name and leave the explanation to the next member.
  • Stat spread
    • General idea of what it should be doing; leave the specific numbers to the member who does your prompt.
  • Concept
    • Try to give something workable.

[For instance, if the prompt has a given name and type, next user must use those two but has free reign with ability and stat spread. You need to do all of them.]

If you want an easy-to-use template for stuff, here you go:

Name -
Type -
Ability -
Height - (optional)
Weight - (optional)
Stats -
Notable moves - (optional)

Dex Description - (optional)
Appearance - (optional)

======

Because this isn't Smogon CAP, you do not have to make a moveset for them with specific stuff like level up / egg / tutor / pre-evo moves, etc. However, you are free to provide height/weight/dex entries and movepool if you want to.

======

Other rules

1. Base stats can't exceed 255 for a single stat (and 680-700 overall; yes, we know Arceus and Mega Ray / Mewtwo exist with higher numbers, but let's avoid designing doing those, shall we?)

Generally accepted caps for certain groups (fully evolved).

- Eeveelutions: BST 525

- Starters: BST 528 - 535

- Tapus/UB/Silvally: BST 570

- Minor legendaries: BST 580

- General/psuedo-legendaries: BST 600

- Box art mascots: BST 660 - 680

You are more than welcome to deviate outside the box for stuff not in the list, but be reasonable with the stat spread. (i.e. Don't give a first-stage Pokemon power equivalent to a fully-evolved or psuedo-legendary unless it has no evo line of its own).

2. Any custom 'mons you want (babies, fully evolved, legendaries, etc), as well as any possible evolutions to ones that do not currently have one are permissible. Ideally you should do the former. Try to avoid Megas unless they really need one (*cough Flygon*)

3. I reserve the right to skip over prompts if they break the rules or come off as potentially broken in design. Hopefully I don't have to use this.

(You can ask for clarification on certain things, but I don't want to make this a crappier version of CAP. Each entry in here is individual, and shouldn't take forever to make; also there is no specific format you need to adhere to. That decision is up to you.)

Let's make the first one easy and see how this turns out in the long run.

Sparwork (Spark + Firework)

Firework Pokemon

Fire/Psychic

3rd evolution

Base stats: 535

General stat spread: high Spd (~120) moderate Sp.Atk (~100)

Abilities:

Illuminate

Flash Fire

Hidden: Dazzling

Notable moves:

Psychic

Extrasensory

Flamethrower

Fire Blast

Burn Up

Energy Ball

Dazzling Gleam

Will-O-Wisp

Nasty Plot

Calm Mind

Confuse Ray

Light Screen

Trick

Role:

Special Sweeper. The Dazzling ability offers it an edge by protecting it from priority moves that otherwise would outsped it despite its high Speed.

Comparable to a Psychic version of Chandelure that trades some of the Sp.Atk for Speed.

Next:

Poison/Bug

Base stats: 600 (general legendary)

Ok, so I got funking NINJAD, but I spent a lot of time on mine so I'm posting it anyway.

[spoiler=Craniember]

Craniember

Think Tank Pokémon

Dex Entry: When it evolves, it enhances its magnetic capabilities with psychic powers. Legend says it can see 10,000,000 years into the future.

Type: Fire | Psychic

Catch Rate: 255 (33%)

Height: 3'11"

Weight: 71.89 lbs

Egg Group: Amorphous

Gender Ratio: 50% Male | 50% Female

Hatch Time: 30840 - 31096 steps (egg not obtainable)

Base Experience Yield: 114

Leveling Rate: Slow

Pokedex Color: Orange

Biology

Craniember possesses a head shaped similarly to an arrow, and it generally resembles a shrimp. Its torso takes the shape of several coiled stones, and while it lacks functional limbs, it naturally attracts stones and magnets that are prone to hitting each other and igniting.

Game Location

DPPt: Stark Mountain

Stat Lineup:

HP — 45

ATT — 30

DEF — 30

SPA — 95

SPD — 50

SPE — 100

Movesets

Ability: Magnet Pull, Flash Fire | Steelworker

Notable Moves: Psychic, Psyshock, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Lava Plume, Eruption, Overheat, Stealth Rock, Power Gem, Mirror Shot, Anchor Shot, Volt Switch, Thunderbolt, Calm Mind, Stored Power, Cosmic Power, Earth Power, Nature Power, Will-O-Wisp, Trick Room

For the Bug/Poison:

[spoiler=Apialpha]

Apialpha

Rogue Bee Pokémon

Dex Entry: There can only be one of its kind alive at once. The pollen it collects becomes tainted, and the flowers' progeny grow in unshapely contortions.

Type: Bug | Poison

Catch Rate: 3 (0.4%)

Gender Ratio: Genderless

Height: 10'4"

Weight: 394.99 lbs

Egg Group: Undiscovered

Hatch Time: 10280 - 10536 Steps

Base Experience Yield: 261

Leveling Rate: Slow

Pokedex Color: Yellow

Biology

Apialpha is strikingly bee-like, except much more fuzzy than its counterparts; Most notable is the fur around its neck that is covered in pollen. From its hind protrude four veins that visibly pulsate with venom, moving along the body into pockets on its side. Its wings are relatively small compared to the rest of its body, although their black outline makes them more clear.

Game Location

SM: Melemele Meadow

Stat Lineup:

HP — 150

ATT — 70

DEF —120

SPA — 140

SPD —120

SPE — 40

Movesets

Notable Moves: Roost, Pollen Puff, Fell Stinger, Defog, U-turn, Toxic Spikes, Gunk Shot, Sludge Wave, Bug Buzz, Sludge Bomb, Toxic, Wish, Aromatherapy, Perish Song, Supersonic

Now it's my turn to pick?

• Ghost / Fairy

• Ability: Spooky Surge

Have fun :)

So try to make a Mimikyu counterpart? Challenge accepted.

Name: Geistale

Type: Ghost/Fairy

Ability: Spooky Surge (Ghost-type moves have their power increased by 33.3%)

Height: 4'3 (130 cm)

Weight: 53 pounds (24.04 kg)

Stat Spread:

|HP =  60

|Attack = 100

|Defense = 70

|Sp.Attack = 115

|Sp.Defense = 70

|Speed = 105

Total = 520

Notable moves: Shadow Sneak, Shadow Ball, Play Rough, Moonblast, Aura Sphere

(You have a choice about going mixed or either one way. IDK, I'd probably choose a mixed sweep set with Naive nature, but...)

======

Alright, let's see....

Dark / Fairy

Intimidate (ability)

Should probably make a template that can be used to make stuff organized.

Link to comment

Name - Trembroll

Type - Dark / Fairy

Ability - Intimidate

Height - 6'4" / 1.9 m

Weight - 250.7 lbs / 113.7 kg

Stats (HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe [Total]) - 98 / 112 / 125 / 43 / 63 / 70 [bST - 510]

Notable Moves - Crunch, Play Rough, Sucker Punch, Bulk Up, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Hammer Arm, Slack Off, Pursuit, Gunk Shot, Roar

A simple physical menace to deal with. It takes physical hits and dishes them right back, especially with intimidate. It has a fairly good movepool, although moreso for bulky attacking rather than support.

Electric / Flying with a physical attacking bias in its stats would be interesting to see.

Name: Amperegrine

Type: Electric/Flying

Ability: Motor Drive OR Tough Claws (Hidden: Huge Power)

Height: 5'3" / 1.6 m

Weight: 114 lbs / 46.5 kg

Stats: 547 total

HP: 92

ATK: 114

DEF: 80

Sp. ATK: 86

Sp. DEF: 68

SPD: 107

Noteworthy Moves:

Brave Bird

Thunder Punch

Fire Punch

Ice Punch

Drain Punch

Blaze Kick

Dragon Dance

Dragon Claw

Superpower

Giga Impact

Baton Pass

Flame Charge

A straightforward physical sweeper, Amperegrine is only noteworthy for knowing being what amounts to the strongest regional bird. Its movepool is relatively shallow, containing only attacking moves and the rare setup move, but there is a surprising Type diversity that means that, regardless of the Type of the opponent, you're likely going to hit them really really hard. Also, every punch and kick in the game!

Because it is the regional bird, if you chose not to use your one free Thunder Stone on something else, you'll probably have this thing by the third Gym if you just decide to basically skip its middle evolution altogether.

I'll just give you the Ability:

Deft Strike: Any move, Ability, or item that raises the Pokémon's Speed also boosts its ATK by the same amount.

I'm probably going to be lazy and rip off that Electric minor legendary I made a couple years ago for my take on a Hawaiian themed region. (Well, I never really fleshed it out so...guess we're doing it now)

Name: Hainazuli

Type: Electric/Flying (well, original idea is just pure Electric, but why not)

Height: 7'0 (214 cm)

Weight: 214.1 lb (97.2 kg)

Ability: Volt Absorb / Electric Surge (HA)

Stat Spread: 105 / 120 / 90 / 85 / 80 / 100 [bST 580]

Notable moves: Wild Charge, Brave Bird, Thunderbolt, Stone Edge, Earthquake, signature Electric STAB move for Physical (will think of one later; I really want to give Volt Tackle a viable user since Pikachu and its evo line legitimately suck due to the recoil killing them off.)

=====

For the sake of fairness, let's make a fresh one.

Name - Hekilimanu (combination of Hawaiian words for "thunder/lightning" and "bird")

Type - Electric/Flying

Ability - Sheer Force

Height - 5'1 (155 cm)

Weight - 85 lb (38.56 kg)

Stat Spread - 70 / 110 / 70 / 50 / 70 / 100 [bST 480]

Notable moves - Wild Charge, Brave Bird, Drill Peck, Sky Drop, Dragon Claw, Thunderbolt (not like you'll ever use it off base 50 stats), Double Edge

==========

EDIT: Damn Draco for ninja'ing, but I'll use the ability otherwise.

Kitsuninja

Dark

Deft Strike

6'2 [188 cm]

176 lb [80 kg]

75 / 117 / 60 / 103 / 60 / 120 [bST 535]

Notable moves - Night Slash, Sucker Punch, Close Combat, U-Turn, Knock Off, Brick Break, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Shadow Claw, Play Rough, Poison Jab

Fairy/Ice

Bulky wall

@Sakura

It doesn't look that OP, IMO. Just make sure it doesn't learn Agility, Dragon Dance and other setup moves that raise Speed.

Blizzeti

Tiny Yeti Pokemon

Fairy / Ice

2nd evolution

Base stats: 530

General stat spread: high HP (~170) moderate Def (~100), average Sp.Atk (~80)

General description: Pokemon based on the mythical yeti... except that it's really small, around the size of Chansey or Wobbuffet, fluffy and really cute, far from scary. It only emerges in snowstorms at night and tries to scare people and other Pokemon with strong blizzards, mist and optical illusions.

Abilities:

Thick Fat | Fur Coat

Hidden: White Mist

Activates Mist when the Pokemon enters a battle

Notable moves:

Ice Shard

Ice Beam

Icy Wind

Blizzard

Freeze Dry

Frost Breath

Moonblast

Draining Kiss

Focus Blast

Ancient Power

Power Gem

Earth Power

Psychic

Calm Mind

Protect

Slack Off

Stealth Rock

Rest

Sleep-Talk

Mist

Taunt

Reflect

Light Screen

Aurora Veil

Hail

Haze

Role:

Physical wall with special attacks as backup. Special sweeper variant may be viable with investment on Sp.Atk and boosting with Calm Mind that also patches up its Sp.Def. Its unique Ability White Mist also offers it a niche as a support Pokemon to protect from Intimidate, Parting Shot, etc.

(I did say that providing movesets was optional, because this isn't supposed to be a CAP expy. The level of design may not be as great, but we can at least churn out a few designs per day if things go well.)

But let's go.

Name - Sylvadrako

Type - Bug/Dragon

Height - 7'4 (219 cm)

Weight - 323 lb (146.5 kg)

Base Stats - 70/110/80/110/80/90

Notable moves - U-turn, Bug Buzz, Dragon Claw, Dragon Pulse, Flamethrower / Fire Blast, Sludge Wave, Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Crunch

Supposed to be a dual attacker, but you can devote to either style depending on preference.

=====

Poison

(Let's give them a legendary of their own, so...you have a choice between minor legendary, standard legendary / mythicals [i personally class them as legendaries] or the box legends)

Yeah, It's me having fun with going as far as dropping some moves. I find that more entertaining than coming up with other info like weight, height, etc.

By the way, your base stat count is a bit off there... I changed my mind on the prompt a couple of times but never put a total base stat of 560.

Also I already put a Poison legendary prompt xD

But a second Poison legend would be cool:

Abysmias

World Miasma Pokemon

Poison

Single evolution

Base stats: 600 (general legendary)

General stat spread: high Atk (~140), moderate defenses (~100), average Speed

General description: A giant snake, surrounded by a purple mist. Whenever it appears, it brings a blanket of non-lethal but harmful fog that can surround an entire region. Some say that it has been spotted flying far above in the skies...

Abilities:

Shed Skin

Hidden: Levitate (from events)

Notable moves:

Gunk Shot

Poison Jab

Sludge Wave

Cross Poison

Earthquake

Crunch

Sucker Punch

Aqua Tail

Dragon Tail

Iron Tail

Thunder Fang

Ice Fang

Fire Fang

Stone Edge/Rock Slide

Outrage

Fire Blast

Ice Beam

Shadow Ball

Infestation

Coil

Toxic

Toxic Spikes

Swords Dance

Dragon Dance

Recover

Taunt

Stealth Rock

Haze

Clear Smog

From event:

Sky Drop

Fly

Role:

Physical Wallbreaker, setup sweeper. Basically an Arbok with legendary stats and wider movepool; or rather a Poison Type Zygarde.

Next:

Ghost / Steel

Total base stats: 520

Includes Technician as one of its Abilities.

I think it would be better if we reserved posts, cause getting ninjad here is especially bad whenever it happens.

[spoiler=Spiritinker]

Spiritinker

Grave Robber Pokemon

Spiritinker resembles a stout person with goggles and a very wide smile. I'm not against it but getting ninja'd and looking at 2+ Pokemon per prompt is cool, too. I find really interesting the contrasts in approaches.

[spoiler=Clamaiki]

Clamaiki

Water / Fight

3rd evolution

Base stats: 520

General stat spread: high Sp.Atk (~130), moderate Speed (~110)

General description: Clam-themed Pokemon skilled on Aikido that fights by channeling the flow of energy and water. It lies patiently on mud that allows it to sense any approaching threats or worthy opponents to challenge for combat, and suddenly jump into action. Appearance-wise, it has an anthropomorphic body, with arms, legs and everything, made of the soft tissue characteristic of clams, and protruding from its head is its clam-like shell; the body is flexible, and the shell big enough to be able to hide the entire body inside it, from where it can focus its energy under protection to deliver powerful focus blasts and punches.

Abilities:

Sheer Force | Shell Armor

Hidden: Storm Drain

Notable moves:

Muddy Water

Scald

Surf

Hydro Pump

Aqua Jet

Aura Sphere

Focus Blast

Focus Punch

Ice Beam

Blizzard

Earth Power

Moonblast

Energy Ball

Shadow Ball

U-Turn

Agility

Calm Mind

Shell Smash

Role:

Special sweeper. Hits hard with Sheer Force-boosted Focus Blasts, although the more hard-hitting Water special moves don't get Sheer Force boost. The next best thing is Muddy Water, which this Pokemon has access to, and Scald for the accuracy, as well as non Sheer Force builds.

Name - Amareeze

Ability - Huge Power
Height - 8'7" / 2.6 m
Weight - 173.7 lbs / 78.8 kg
Stats (HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe [Total]) - 85 / 65 / 75 / 105 / 95 / 115 [bST - 540]
Notable Moves - Icicle Crash, Play Rough, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Freeze-Dry, Moonblast, Dazzling Gleam, Crunch, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, ExtremeSpeed, Pursuit, Iron Tail, Calm Mind, Focus Blast, Aura Sphere, Reflect, Light Screen, Aurora Veil, Agility

A sort of mixed attacker that takes advantage of Huge Power to spread out its stat spread. Its physical movepool is ok, although it only really has Crunch and Thunder Fang for coverage. ExtremeSpeed is a nice little tool to have, however. Meanwhile, on the special side it has access to Focus Blast / Aura Sphere for coverage and Calm Mind for boosting, although it lacks any form of priority. Finally, it has Agility for speed boosting, although I don't see that being very good.

Poison / Electric is a typing that I always liked. It would be too easy to give it Levitate I think, so how about instead we give it a unique ability called Radioactive.

[spoiler=Radiocto]

Radiocto

Radioactive Pokemon

Poison / Electric

2nd evolution

Base stats: 500

General stat spread: High HP and moderate defenses

General description: Octopus-like Pokemon with bright colors and a coating that emits sparks. Just by looking at it one can tell that it's dangerous to approach.

Abilities:

Radioactive: While the foe has its Def or Sp.Def lowered, it takes 1/16 damage every turn. The damage has the lowest priority; that means Leftovers, status damage, Leech Seed, etc. all of them apply before this damage.

@Darj: I lowered the base HP, so last one goes to 540 BST. As for Kitsuninja, yeah (though I did give it slightly better Special Attack at first and required nerfing before it turned into another Greninja).

Notably, Wightae doesn't know a single Normal-Type move, but it does have a wide movepool anyway. It also has a wide variety of biting, kicking, and punching moves, despite not being a very noteworthy physical attacker. Its design is notably based on both old kung-fu movies and zombie movies, looking almost like a cartoonishly zombified "old master".

New Pokémon:

Must have both Rain Dish and Solar Power as Abilities.

Oh, are we allowed to give a secondary typing to mono-type prompts?

Suppose you can, if it's needed to not make your idea a copy/paste of an already existing 'mon.

A very annoying, but versatile Pokemon. A bit weak on the physical side, but it can patch that up with Will-o-Wisp. In other words its a lot like a good version of Prankster Sableye, only being weak to Dark-type attacks. Boomburst and Nasty Plot allow it to hit surprisingly hard, although it does only have 70 SpA so multiple boosts are required. If you do go this route, however, you gain access to a rather expansive coverage.

Annoying wall, the movie the game. What you're generally going to be doing is parking firmly on your butt, using recovery moves to stay in the game while your opponent gets burned, poisoned (Toxic and Venoshock are in this movepool), or recoiled to death.

Physically, think of your typical pink fairy, with a "dress" made of lava and hair of flames. The shiny form turns the fire/lava blue, and the body black The cute blue button eyes its normal coloration has become bright, piercing red in its shiny form, as well.

Getting it, though, is annoying as hell, because wild ones don't exist, and to evolve into it you need to be playing at night with at least 2 baby Pokémon in your party.

Stampalace

Make it a legendary of an unusual Type or Type combination for one.

Name - Stampalace
Type - Rock / Ghost
Ability - Pressure / Dry Skin (HA)
Height - 11'8" / 3.6 m
Weight - 1687.4 lbs / 765.4 kg
Stats (HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe [Total]) - 85 / 125 / 165 / 80 / 95 / 50 [bST - 600]

Signature Move - Bone Crusher (90 BP Physical Ghost-type Move that lowers Defense by 1 stage. Makes contact, 100% accurate, and has 5 (8) PP)
Notable Moves - Stone Edge, Bone Crusher, Earthquake, Head Smash, Rock Slide, Double-Edge, Stomping Tantrum, Stomp, High Horsepower, Bone Rush, Iron Head, Heavy Slam, Shadow Ball, Power Gem, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Will-o-Wisp, Rock Polish, Shore Up, Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, Stealth Rock, Spikes, Iron Defense

Description - A gigantic war elephant with a stone castle-like structure on its back. The elephant itself looks almost skeletal, with eyes similar to Duskull's (although the pupils are ghastly white instead of red). The elephant's war armor seems to be infused with the castle on its back, as if the castle itself is the armor. It is adorned with some cracked gemstones.

A physical tank with a unique typing. Dry Skin works wonders with its unique typing, giving it a niche set of resistances and immunities. It has high power and decent HP for a Ghost-type and its SpDef isn't too bad, although its nothing to praise either.

Lets go for a Speed Boost Pokemon that's fairly slow itself, an idea that I think could be interesting

I'll do the prompt, but just so I don't ninja anyone, I'll hold this post.

I just had a question- could we get some sprite artists to make some of these sprites and Dex entries?

Gyro Ball

Gear Saucer

Bullet Seed

Rock Blast

Electro Ball

Ancient Power

Pin Missile

Icicle Spear

Bullet Seed

Curse

Baton Pass

Rapid Spin

Quiver Dance

Generally, a solid mixed wall with lots of options. If used cleverly, it can be anything from a sweeper to a setup passer.

Design-wise, it's an armored spinning top with a fortress on top of it, and regular holes every so often around its circumference that little green eyes peek out of. Its shiny form turns its whole body bronze and makes its eyes deep blue, making it look like Da Vinci's design for a tank.

Make it a Dragon/Steel type that skirts the line of Legendary without being one or a pseudo

Pokémon coming soon

You don't have to provide the pics, but I guess if you ask nicely, maybe get Sleepy to do rough ones (drawing-wise). Spriting, idk. Dex entry pages are probably something I can make a template for, provided I get free time.
