Gladiator arena (field spell card)

Effect: When this card is activated change all monsters to face-up attack position. While this card is face up on the field apply the following effects. 1) monsters can't change their battle posistions and must be summoned in face up attack posistion. 2) monsters can't be destroyed by battle. 3) two monsters that battle must compare their attack points to the oppossing monsters defence points(and vise-versa) and if a monsters defence points is lower then the the other monsters attack points, destroy that monster after damage calculation (this is done with both monsters. Monsters that can't be destroyed by battle can't be destroyed by this effect).

Kind of a unique one for my first card on the site. Really don't know how this would go in tbe meta as well. Probably weak because S/T removal. Please feel free to tell me what you think.

Granted. it is the casual card design area so meta is more or less neglected. The effects are fairly straight forward but the 3rd effect needs to be reworded in order to improve clarity. Example: When a monster targets a monster for an attack, destroy the targeted monster after damage calculation if it's DEF is lower than the attacking monster's ATK. If the attacking monster's DEF is lower than the opposing monster's ATK, destroy the attacking monster after damage calculation.

Overall, the card has rather solid effects. If you are worried about S/T removal, there is always Field Barrier and other cards that negate removal. If we are focused on certain decks like Ghostricks, Subterror, or low DEF archetypes, then this card would cripple their effectiveness throughout the match. Therefore, this would be a high-priority target. Nice job on your first card, Benachu.

I will be correcting the Official Card Grammar (or OCG) of the card. Not usually done in Casual Card Design, but I feel 1 stars could use the learning (because I once also sucked at this)

Simple enough

Gladiator’s Arena

Field - Spell

All face-up monsters on the field are changed to Attack Position and their battle positions cannot be changed. Monsters cannot be destroyed by battle.

I used Final Attack Order for the first effect, since doing all of that for essentially the same thing is pretty redundant. If you can do it with less words, it's probably better OCG (unless it isn't, which means Konami is just screwing with you)

Next up....

3) two monsters that battle must compare their attack points to the oppossing monsters defence points(and vise-versa) and if a monsters defence points is lower then the the other monsters attack points, destroy that monster after damage calculation (this is done with both monsters. Monsters that can't be destroyed by battle can't be destroyed by this effect).

... it feels like I'm stepping into a dark cave with a floor infested with legos... without shoes. For example, Link monsters have no DEF, for example (guessing they're just unaffected though.) Anyway, this was pretty annoying. At first, I thought "If a monster is attacked, apply its DEF for damage calculations." but then I kept reading, and eeuuuughhh it's a nightmare for OCG.

I think it's this, but it might be something else:

After damage calculations, if a monster's DEF is lower than the ATK of the opposing monster: Destroy that monster.

You also have that second protection effect, but tbh you might as well just use the 1st effect I mentioned if you really want. So here's the final product:

Gladiator’s Arena

Field - Spell

All face-up monsters on the field are changed to Attack Position and their battle positions cannot be changed. Monsters cannot be destroyed by battle. After damage calculations, if a monster's DEF is lower than the ATK of the opposing monster, destroy that monster.

EDIT: Cut out the "compare" part of the sentence, since it was also jargon because "after damage calculations" already implies a battle between monsters, but tbh there might be something else wrong.

Pritty much. Thank you. I use to be good at the wording when i made cards in high school and ran proxy tournaments with my friends but its been a while sense i have made cards. I am hoping to cover alot of ideas so the more pointers the better :).

As for link monsters, forgot they have no defence which puts a little problem in the wording.
