Structure Deck R: Warrior's Triumph (4/4)

Armoire

Recommended Posts

I cannot wait until these guys get a reboot.

Chemicritters and their support gave Geminis some needed support and helped them out a bit. However, I feel like they're still lacking.

[spoiler=Monsters (2)]

Phoenix Gearfried the Swordmaster

[PHOENIX GEARFRIED WITHOUT ARMOR PIC HERE]

LV8 FIRE

Warrior/Gemini/Effect

3100/2300

This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is a Normal Monster on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with this effect.

●Equip Spell Cards you control cannot be destroyed by card effects.

●If your opponent activates a Spell Card: You can target 1 Gemini Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target, and if you do, that monster is treated as an Effect Monster, and gains its effect.

●Once per turn, during either player’s turn, when a card effect is activated: You can send 1 face-up Equip Card you control to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

[spoiler=Design Notes] New boss monster. A Phoenix Gearfried with both effects buffed and an added effect to protect your Equip Spells.Generates advantage for the player and hinders opponent's plays. Potential swarming depending on how many Spells your opponent activates.

Otherwise, I'm thinking of limiting negation to either Spells/Traps or just Monsters.

[spoiler=Flavor Notes]

  • As a new boss/retrain, the Swordmaster would make perfect sense.
  • Higher stats to show a renewed Gearfried.
  • Buffed effect to represent Phoenix Gearfried hitting his true potential.
  • Status is buffed from original Phoenix Gearfried by +300 ATK/DEF, equivalent to the boost Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade gives. Symbolism for him absorbing sword's power.
  • Negation effect from Champion's Vigilance.

Evocator Gardna

LV4 FIRE

Warrior/Gemini/Effect

900/1900

This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is a Normal Monster on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with this effect.

●Once per turn: You can change this card to Defense Position.

●Once per turn, if an Equip Spell Card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target 1 appropriate Gemini Monster you control; equip it to that target.

●If this card is sent from the field to the GY as a monster: You can target 1 Warrior monster you control; equip this card to that monster. The equipped monster cannot be destroyed by card effects.

[spoiler=Design Notes]This basically recycles your Equip Spells when sent to the Graveyard--combos well with Phoenix Gearfried and Evocator Chevalier. Becomes fodder for their effects upon destruction. Level 4 target for Gemini Spark.

[spoiler=Flavor Notes]

  • Defensive version of Evocator Chevalier.
  • Inversed stats from Evocator Chevalier.
  • Gardna--protection. Protects monsters when they're equipped to them.
  • Contemplated also making it the inverse of Chevalier's effect, where I send a monster to recover an Equip Spell, but deemed that an unnecessary cost.

[spoiler=Spells (2)]

Hallowed Renewal

Continuous Spell

Once per turn, during either player’s turn: You can target 1 Gemini Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that monster. You can send this face-up card to the GY to target 1 Level 7 or higher Gemini Monster you control; destroy any number of other Gemini monsters you control, and if you do, equip as many Equip Spell Cards from your GY to that monster as possible, up to the number of monsters destroyed by this effect. You can only use this effect of “Hallowed Renewal” once per turn.

[spoiler=Design Notes]Revival for Geminis to keep field advantage. Red-Eyes Return, except it's a spell.

When Geminis are sent to the Graveyard, it's really punishing because you have to not only use an effect to revive them, but also Normal Summon them twice, which takes two turns (without Spark Field); this results to a weak field because the Normal Summon blocks you from Normal Summoning other, more useful, monsters.
This is meant to softly circumvent that by getting rid of at least consistently. Special Summoning them from the Grave via either player's turn.

It also acts as fuel for Phoenix Gearfried the Sword Master by giving him Equips. Also has the option to go for a potential OTK in exchange for destroying monsters you control.

[spoiler=Flavor Notes]

  • In terms of art, it would be Phoenix Gearfried's version of Release Restraint.
  • The equip part would be him dawning his newly found power. Or something.
  • I really like symbolism.

Divine Armory - Phoenix Regalia

Equip Spell

Equip only to a Warrior monster. It gains 500 ATK and DEF. During your Main Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard: You can send 1 Gemini monster from your Deck to the GY; add this card to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Divine Armory - Phoenix Regalia ” once per turn.

[spoiler=Design Notes]Buffed Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade. Fills up the Graveyard to work in tandem with Hallowed Renewal rather than deplete resources that the deck needs to recycle itself, unlike the original. Buffed ATK and DEF as well. Most reliable Equip Spell for the deck.

[spoiler=Flavor Notes]

  • Buffed Phoenix Sword. +200 more stat gain.
  • Its recycle effect is supposed to mimic life of a phoenix. Symbolism with a monster dying to give new life?
