What Hobbies Would You Like to Try?

See title, are there any hobbies or other recreational activities that you would like to try, but never gotten around to, for various reasons?

For me, it'd have to be drawing. I'd love to put ideas in my head onto paper, and some fanart of course.
I want to try snowboarding too. I've been skiing before, but it's been almost ten years. Might as well pick up something new next time I hit the slopes.

[spoiler=Let's see]

  • Roleplaying: Well, let's just say that the last time I even did it seriously on YCM was back in 2011. (Recall that I did make that RP as an Easter egg hint this year; YCM-themed thing). Things have certainly changed over the last six years, and though I might be able to do it, will also depend on my time, interest in said RP and so forth.
  • Writing: (Well, maybe at least posting short stories and stuff) I mean, I do have an offline fanfic that's a 5Ds hybrid spinoff that I have been working on since 2010 (off-on due to work), but part of the writing is kinda crap [less details in the text and more/less requires you to look at base images] and goes into some degree of weirdness later. (Also characters feel more one-dimensional than I'd like, though can't be as bad as Yusaku right now.)
    • Maybe I could do a Sun/Moon fic (partly adapted to how Hawai'i really is), but we'll see. A lot of you probably know my feelings on certain aspects of this state that Gamefreak left out for S/M.
    • I have a side flash fic that I wrote for an English assignment in 2015; anyone wants that or my other fic posted, I can look into doing so.
  • Cosplay: I've been considering doing one of Nick Wilde [with the ZPD uniform] or something (well, I can't do the character I have an avatar of right now because I'm male). Other option would be Sasuke from Naruto. Problem is getting money to make said outfit and getting time to go to said conventions. They tend to be on Fridays when I'm in class, which kinda sucks. (We have Kawaii-Kon.)
    • Also kinda late to do it for Halloween purposes. (Would either require me to dye my hair red [i have brownish/black hair, so...] or get a wig [probably this because my hair is medium length] AND design the outfit accordingly. There's enough resource pics to work with [or just use the HPD uniforms as a general reference, except the badges and stuff)
  • Skateboarding: Well, it'd be nice, but then I don't want to have my legs broken because I can't go to work on Saturdays and some other stuff. Also because limited places I can go (and I certainly have some words about guys who skateboard on campus and are rude as hell). Design / price tag may be problem too [oh hell, I'm studying material mechanics right now; might as well design my own or something].
  • Riding stuff: Think the limitations here are obviously cost for lessons / equipment [looking on Amazon/elsewhere, and you get it] and time constraints (because I work on Saturdays, go school and have other commitments on Sunday). Location too, because last time I looked, a lot of them are in parts of downtown I don't know or on North Shore / far west of the island. (I'm not sure what sparked this one though, but yeah.
    • I know college asked what kind of stuff students would like at orientation, and riding was one of the choices iirc. They never said anything about it five years later.

Drawing would be good (I technically do it on my free time, but not much), but we'll see. Come to think of it, there's some stuff that I said I'd do in Sleepy's club but haven't gotten around to yet.

tl;dr, there are things I want to do, but don't have the time, money or materials for, and it's usually the first two.

Boxing. The only sport I've played was soccer up through my sophomore year of high school, and my love of boxing has only come about recently in the past few years. Maybe once I graduate college I'll try joining a gym or something, but for now I don't think I have the time to pick it up. It's a shame I didn't get into it when I was younger.

Writing and perhaps even role playing. Though I've never thought I was good at writing, and I'm usually short on time.

anyway

I'd like to learn about composing music on a more educated level. Like, learn about music theory and all that stuff. I also would like to learn how to draw. Music and art are the big ones for me yeah. Also wouldn't mind getting into collecting things more, since I don't really have a lot of things and even if it's just fun little things to decorate my desk with, I'd like to change that.

Well, if we talk about something I want to indulge in, it's drawing. I'm quite bad at it, and while I does have several factors influencing that, ultimately it's because I didn't have enough time (or patience to practice) to really get into it. A shame too, it's one thing I really wanted the most.

Alternatively, for something I haven't actually tried, backpacking. It sounds pretty fun to try out.

I wish I could go backpacking, should've done it after I graduated over a year ago. I'll have to settle for traveling the world in spurts for the rest of my life to make up for it.

On a side note, I think I've heard that practicing something for 20 minutes every day is a good way to get good at that thing. Food for thought.

Skydiving.  I think it would help me conquer my fear of heights.  And, to be honest, ever since I first saw skydiving in the original Power Ranger's movie, I've wanted to do it.

That's a good one, me too. The biggest obstacle I've faced so far is finding a buddy to do it with, it's like they all believe it's irrational to jump out a plane  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Drawing and sailing would probably be the main two. Drawing because random character ideas and fan art, though I am not great with my hands and I never find time to attempt it. Sailing because I've always like boats, and spending the occasional summer on a yacht was nice.

An instrument other than the violin. Didn't enjoy it very much so I suppose that's why I never learned to become good enough, and also probably why I've been less than proactive in picking another instrument.

Gardening sounds potentially relaxing  but I really don't have the patience to try it out. Or the space.

And fishing.
