If this card is sent from the field to the GY: Add 1 monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck to your hand, but you cannot activate cards, or the effects of cards, with that name for the rest of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Sangan" once per turn.

 

Cherubini has kinda made this card viable again in BA. TGU->Sangan to Cherubini will trigger Sangan T1 which can then search Maxx to your hand (which you won't use given it's your opening turn) and then create the usual BA plays

 

It can also search Ash & Oger, but in those cases you might want to be have already used a copy during that turn because it will turn of additional copies

 

Crane Crane is also a viable search. It will give you a play the next turn, and you won't need the effect of crane since you already burnt your normal

Pros search Gilasaurus to extend Rank 3 plays since its summon isn't an effect. And Sangan stops your opponent summoning from the GY.

Now that you mention it, Sangan + Tour Guide are a stronger relationship than they've ever been.

Though Tour Guide is still at 1 iirc. Sangan is no doubt still a fair errata.... I think it is better this way because it doesn't let me abuse it multiple times per turn (and I certainly would) just like Witch of the Black Forest. Old School Yugioh could have used this version of them without much drawback.

 

Links actually seem to undo everything Xyzs worked for to seal. They go over any "can't  (name) Summon" restrictions and don't care about Level vs Rank. It is interesting to see what's gonna keep popping out that can be used.

The Yata-Garasu Lockdown. They got Witch of the Black Forest and stuff as well. And good for them (although you can still perform the lockdown, if your opponent gets a dead draw)

Should never have gotten errata. Card was well balanced and fair prior to errata.

It is an awkward moment when I realize I can achieve now a play I always wanted to do back in the day: Have both Sangan and Witch on the field by some relatively consistent method (nowadays granted by Pendulum) and fused into Sandwitch so I can reap that marvelous generic DOUBLE SEARCH. Yet..... it feels so useless now....

This doesn't make sense, since yata was banned for years before sangan, and is still banned now.

If that logic held, Sagan wouldn't even need an errata cause CED makes that combo dead already. More likely it's to stop immediate usage of combo pieces

That would be cool, although I feel there's a better way of doing this, like a opt Call of the Haunted, but it's sent to the GY at the end of the turn.
