Hela, Mistress of Darkness

DARK - Link 4 [T/D/L/R]

Zombie/Link/Effect

3+ Zombie monsters

Cannot be Special Summoned, except by it's own card effect. Can only be Link Summoned by banishing Link Materials from your Graveyard. All Zombie-Type monsters on the field gain 100 ATK for each Zombie-Type monster in both players' Graveyards. Once per turn, when a Zombie-Type monster is sent to the Graveyard while you have no cards in your hand: You can Tribute 1 Zombie-Type monster this card points to, then target 1 Level 4 or lower Zombie-Type monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.

ATK/ 2300

[spoiler=Click Me!]What's up YCMF inhabitants, KG back again with another custom card creation! To celebrate the release of Thor: Ragnarok and the on-screen debut of the Asgardian baddie Hela, I decided to create a Link Monster that works as a decent generic Zombie boss, contributing effects that benefit several different aspects of the Zombie-Type capabilities. Firstly, she's capable of being Link Summoned by banishing GY fodder, the consequence being she can't be SS any other way while also hindering her buff effect as well. Despite this, with enough Zombies (or Zombie World activated and enough monsters period in both GYs) her ATK buff to all Zombies can serve as some serious hurt lategame. Lastly, her final effect is not only useful for zombie retrieval/opponent monster saccing (with ZW) in a tight pinch, but also caters to the current handtrap meta, being able to fetch Ash Blossom or Ghost Reaper (for mirrors) to keep your opponent in check. Please tell me what you think, constructive criticism is always welcomed!

OCG Grammar and small technical fixes for reference.

Hela, Mistress of Darkness
DARK - N, E, S, W - Zombie/Link/Effect - 2300 ATK/LINK-4

3+ Zombie monsters

Cannot be Special Summoned, except by banishing Link Materials from your GY.

All Zombie monsters on the field gain 100 ATK for each Zombie monster in both player’s GY.

Once per turn, while you have no cards in your hand, when a Zombie monster is sent to the GY: You can Tribute 1 Zombie monster this card points to; add 1 Level 4 or lower Zombie monster from your GY to your hand.

Link 4 Zombie? Nice. The idea of the banishing from GY seems to be more punishing than its worth, since Zombies and this card are very GY oriented, so sending them to the GY via Link Summoning is probably a better cost, considering all of its other effects revolve around things being in the GY.

Tributing to add back Zombies is pretty tame. I mean Zombie Master is a pretty old card and it discards to Special Summon from the GY. It also implies you have another Zombie on the field, which with the GY banishing makes sense but that implies you have Zombies in the GY after banishing 4 of them. Also no cards in hand AND when a Zombie is sent to the GY? WTF? WHY? Just Tributing to add cards from your GY to your hand is a lot, but a specific timing and a difficult restriction to maintain is a bit crazy.

Anyway, interesting card but has conflicting interactions with itself. It does a lot with the GY but banishes from your GY. I would personally make it so it can retrieve your banished Zombies instead of the ones in your GY and gain ATK for each of your banished Zombies. That makes it a lot more involved with itself, and with that a lot more solid of a card.

Gracias! Zombie is one of my favorite types, so I made this card as something that I would use, and something that would give Zombies a fighting chance in this new age (inspiration of Hela came as a coincidence). The banishing requirement was added to balance out her buff effect, as to not let her be too OP right off the bat (unless you've put in the work of stocking up the GY). The other side of the balance was it's a free Link Monster off a monsters in the GY, while it's also counterproductive to Zombies in general. With all due respect, I'd like to hear more from others about her summoning requirement before I make a change to it.

I'm not sure if you caught it but her tributing effect can also be used on an opponent's monster if they are Zombie-Type, since it says "a Zombie monster this points to" (which could be east/north/west, depending on her location); throw in ZW or DNA Surgery and you're terrorizing one of your opponent's zones with her presence alone. I added the "no cards in hand" clause as to limit the player from consistently getting back handtraps unless they were sitting in a bad place. Maybe I should have it to where she could grab any Zombie monster, regardless of Level?
