LVP1-JP021 インヴェルズ・オリジン Inverz Origin (TCG: Steelswarm Origin)

Link 2 LIGHT Fiend Link Effect Monster

ATK 2000

Links: Top, Bottom

Materials: 2 “lswarm” monsters

(1) While this card is in the Extra Monster Zone, neither player can Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck to a Main Monster Zone, except to a Main Monster Zone this card points to.

(2) While this card points to a monster, this card cannot be targeted by effects, nor destroyed by battle or card effect.

(3) Once per turn, when a monster(s) on the field is destroyed (by battle or by card effect): You can Special Summon a number of Level 4 or lower “lswarm” monsters from your Deck in Defense Position, up to the number of monsters destroyed.

Hm! This seems really good. However, don't lswarm have difficulty swarming the field? If you can get this out, it seems likely to be able to pay for itself just via utility, but getting it on the field and then tossing out another monster so it gets its protection and sets up its float doesn't seem to be that easy...

It's not that difficult to make this and Ophion together in one turn.

Unexpected Dai into Heliotrope or SS Steelswarm Cell with its effect, NS Castor and use his effect to extra NS Kerykeion. Cell/Heliotrope + Castor into Origin. Use Kerykeion effect, banish Cell and add Castor back to hand. Use the extra NS to summon Castor again. Summon Ophion. Fetch Infestation s/t of choice. You end with Origin and Ophion and an Infestation using 3 cards in hand. There's other ways too but that's the first thing that comes to mind.

It's LIGHT? o_O

Interesting card for sure, and very significant lore-wise. This was the start of the infection, and yes that does look like a Fabled monster, which would explain the Attribute. Whether the Fabled monster *is* the origin or is prey to the virus isn't clear, but its smile suggests that it's the Fabled monster that originated the plague.

It's hilarious that you can use this with Honest to Special Summon our lord and saviour Kerykeion from the Deck. As a former-Evilswarm player am pretty excited about this and will have to polish off my smrawslivE.

Coincidentally, recently I posted in one of the game threads a LIGHT/Fiend "lswarm" monster with a lock-ish effect, although with a way too different concept.

Anyway... this may be controversial but I'm having second thoughts about this card regarding its effectiveness. It is defensive for sure, but with such markers it also limits you from extending your board with ED monsters after dropping an Ophion or any other ED monster, while it still leaves the opponent 2 Zones to drop its ED monsters, its EM Zone, and the MM Zone this card points to. Is this really worth it when you could go for a different Link2 and follow up with Ophion, etc.? Granted, the last effect is sweet, and it's proactive in the sense you can destroy the monster(s) yourself for the search, and that's welcomed.

That aside I'm glad it's actually an Steelswarm/Inverz so it gets Steelswarm support, for whatever that's worth xD

... Raigeki and then Special Summon ALL THE STEELSWARMS (but probably Evilswarms). Seriously that last effect doesn't specify which side of the field they have to be destroyed O_o

Like the fact your opponent still gets 2 places to Summon Extra Deck Monsters. The card basically says no FTK/OTK bs for you, which I feel is exactly what Evilswarms should be doing.

OCG also has legal Evilswarm Exciton Knight

Yeah, Exciton was reprinted in Battles of Legend: Light's Revenge and there was widespread speculation that it meant they'd unban him here but it hasn't come to pass...yet.

Considering Gateway of the Six was unbanned before the new Six Samurai support I'm hopeful they'll unban Exciton around the time this comes out.

>lswarms weren't good at swarming

>this guy lets them swarm like crazy

>Steelswarm Origin

>swarm origin
>This card enables their swarming

It's symbolic!

After some light snooping, I've found that Fabled Dianaira is the face this card belongs on. Don;t know what that means if anything, but there ya go.

Maybe Dianaira (or its corpse) was the source of the verz virus? Going completely off of the name.

What card is that second image from?

Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord

Monster Effect: This Overlord overran an entire world with his army of Dracofiends, using his Dragon Alchemy to convert all life into his terrible minions. The source of this power is unidentified, and probably extra-dimensional

HMMM

Here Origin appears to be rising from out of a dead Steelswarm Cell, so these were involved in the transmission if not the creation of Origin. Inverz also translates to Steelswarm rather than Evilswarm which is just Verz, so this will be Steelswarm Origin (not that it matters much gameplay-wise as all their support is shared, but it could have lore implications). Initially I sort of assumed Origin was an Evilswarm because it looked like one and was on the cards used in Evilswarm decks. Inverz also sounds like an inverted/evil version of verz, but it's the inverse.

When did this happen? This lass later becomes Nekroz of Sophia iirc?

Actually, if you paid attention to the Draco-ifying virus Vector Pendulum uses and what's on his staff, it appears as an actual virus protein structure (also see: Amorphages). Also, I find the connection between the Draco virus and lSwarm pretty... very loose. lSwarm never worked in a way of "Turns into Dragons and maybe mind controls" and, definitely with the realistic virus aesthetic vs. whatever lSwarm is, I dunno just doesn't connect very well. Also, the lSwarm virus died, like totally died, by the hands of the Vylons partway through DT2.

WHAT IS INTERESTING TO POINT OUT, HOWEVER, that might prove to be a great connection that's being overlooked, is this:

The Amorphage monsters seem to follow a pretty distinct colour scheme with its virus connections. There's a white one, a gray one, a yellow one, an orange one, a red one, a blue one, a purple one, and a green one. Now, there are only 8 Amorphages and there's the pretty glaring question of "Where's Rainbow and Black?" Which, I dunno could be between Luster and Vector respectfully, but then that doesn't quite add up because when Vector becomes Amorphactor the virus core he uses is pretty clearly purple and not black. Also Luster doesn't really have a core going on anywhere, so this theory has a few holes in it.

But yeah, Vector's character and flavor doesn't fit lSwarm at all, and from what we've seen of Evilswarms and such, he wouldn't look or act the way he does just by being infected with it. It really doesn't work lore-wise, and while the whole "Phantom Roots = Luster" thing was a little far-fetched, this is REALLY far-fetched.

It's more likely there's some sort of connection between the Gem Knight orbs (of course) and the viruses, but we need to know who Vector Pendulum is first. ALSO, we already know the interdimensional source of all that draco-virus biz, and it pretty much has to be True King of All Calamities.

Also, I want to know how Qliphort Genius (shadowy figure crawling out of Scout) fits into all this, and what it is at all.
