IT'S A TRAP

I'd run a few copies of Pot of Desires in here, it sees even more play in top Paleozoic builds than Card of Demise and for the good reason that you don't have to worry so much about losing combo pieces.

Reckless Greed tends to be a bit better than Pikaia because you're free to set your Paleozoics without worrying about having to save one to discard or not have one to discard at all if you're top-decking and draw Pikaia, and if you happen to draw multiple copies of Reckless Greed than any additional copies are essentially a trap version of Pot of Greed. I'd still keep one Pikaia around to search off Opabinia, and cut 2 Pikaia and 2 Hallucigenia (the worst Paleozoic) for 3 Reckless Greed and a third copy of Dinomischus.

Beyond that, Mind Crush would be a very good idea to have around at least in the Side Deck because one of the biggest threats to Paleozoics is Evenly Matched, and if your opponent enters the Battle Phase with an empty field you'll know to flip Mind Crush and declare Evenly Matched before they can use it. It's also just a very good card in general because everything searches and it lets you see your opponent's hand. I might even cut the OG Mirror Forces to main Mind Crush. I'd also recommend Solemn Strikes but it seems Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare more or less does the same thing.

For the Extra Deck, as far as generic Rank 4's go DRXD and 101 have seen a sharp decline in recent years largely due to monsters that either can't be targeted (Kozmos/SPYRALs/True Dracos), can chain Quick Effects (ABC's, Dinosaurs, Invoked, SPYRALs, the late Zoodiacs) and in 101's case aren't Special Summoned (Monarchs/True Dracos). These days Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir and Abyss Dweller are the most popular Rank 4's and are powerful floodgates that'd help bolster your deck's style of control. I'd also cut Cursed Javelin for another Toadally Awesome if you can given how critical it is for Paleozoics even without the Frogs.

All in all it seems like a deck with good synergy that I'd hate to play against, let me know how it goes!

I personally believe Dio is better at 2 in decks that don't utilize Naturia Sacred Tree.

Not to say you should utilize that. It was only alright and that was like 3 years ago.

I don't know if storming mirror force/mirror force sees play in paleos, but I'm not liking it too much here, since you are already so good at dealing with monsters. If it is a commonly used thing, please excuse my ignorance and don't mind me.

How many Desires would I be playing, exactly? I assume 2 based on your wording.

Is reckless basically just a "Use it when you need it" sort of trap here? I'm not opposed to using it, a few buddies recommended it as well. Just unsure how I should be using it. (also id argue the paleo that boosts by 500 is worse but yeah i see the point on hallu)

I forgot Evenly Matched exists (I haven't played in months), so Mind crush probably is a good idea. I'll play with the numbers for that.

Just out of curiosity, is the fact Toad can (and can basically ONLY) recycle itself not enough, or is it common enough that it gets banished or you get 2 out for it to want to be at 2?

I like Dionea at 3 for the sole purpose of her being a huge play starter, since she's usually how I make Missus Radiant. It might not be a bad idea to cut her down since I can search with Mantis, but still unsure on it.

I like having at least a few Mirror Force as insurance, mainly in case of Void-only hands since Void is definitely the easiest to play around.

3 is good in Paleo.

It's good to use when your opponent tries to destroy it so they waste a resource and you get extra value. Using it just after your Draw Phase can be good too if you're pushing to make a play, especially in multiple copies. You can also use it whenever you want to revive a Paleozoic.

Oh yeah, Eldonia. Right that'd be worse.

That's true, you could probably get away with 1 then with that and the fact you aren't running Frogs and such.

Updated, Added Solemn Warning and Strike, as well as 3rd Olenoids and moving 3rd Mind Crush and Floodgate from side to main, replacing them with a 3rd HSD and GO&SR in side. Removed a Mistar boy for DRXD since I almost never want to make Mistar Boy, and I found I was lacking a simple high-power ED monster, which I would have liked several times.

Trying 45 cards since Desires made me burn through my deck a bit too fast; may bump it to 48 or so, or try as-is with just 2 desires if it is still an issue. I find I don't have enough Paleozoics to make plays a lot of the time; I may add Leancholia to help alleviate this somewhat, though I also find myself Traptrix -less sometime, but not much I can do there, at least as far as I can tell.

Went to Locals today; 3-2 losing both times against ABC, WIns vs CyDra, LSKnights, and Blue Eyes.

Some stuff I noted about my deck there:

- ABCs suck

- 3 Olenoids is excessive, but I need more Paleos. Thinking of cutting 1 for 2-3 of the Foolish Paleo, WHich would help with droughts of Paleo cards.

- Void Trap Hole is good. I want it in the main.

- 3 TwiTwi is excessive in side.

- Ib and Proxy were useless, and I very rarely got out Radiant. Thinking of cutting at least Ib & Proxy for 2 more xyz, 1 R4 and 1 R2.

- Link Trap Hole might be great. Maybe. Can be triggered forcibly on your turn (And manipulated to not kill the link you just summoned), and doesn't affect any Traptrix you control, due to their clause.

- Imperial Order and some proactive traps would be nice

- 46~8 cards seems to be just the right amount. Didn't deck out, only got close once or twice, and it's still consistent enough. Played 47 at tournament - Added a 3rd TIme Space and a Maxx C, which I liked.

- I still have no idea how or what to Side Deck. Or what to put in there.
