Avengers: Infinity War

I'm definitely doing this, assuming I can remember this challenge once it's actually January lol.

In other news, HUGH JACKMAN MAY COME BACK AS WOLVERINE FOR AVENGERS 4!!!

Disney is making moves with Fox Studios to get a majority of their assets, which includes their Marvel characters, so there is a huge likelihood that we might see characters like the X-Men in the MCU! But of course, the only characters we care about are Wolverine and Deadpool, which people are speculating may make an appearance in Avengers 4. I hope this speculation becomes a reality, I'd love to see a lot of the X-Men characters finally cross over into the MCU, which opens up the potential for a lot of great movie ideas, and Disney has already shown us they know how to appeal to a true comic fan's heart... and wallet!

I'll agree in Spider-Man's new costume looking slick.

I'm ready to do this challenge, starting this weekend with Iron Man 1. Anyone else on board?

Whoops, just now saw this lol. There was no confirmed statement, just people speculating that it's a possibility.

*LOUD FANGIRL SCREAMING*

OH MY GOD THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!!!! The Iron Spider suit looks beast on Holland, been waiting for that! We see more stuff on Rogers/Nomad and we see Stark's new suit! And when I saw it...I immediately thought of one thing: "Oh my God...they're using the Endo-Sym Armor!!!".

I've been waiting for something to show today...and I wasn't disappointed!!!

That's cool, can't say I've seen a movie release date moved up like that. The way they did it is fun, too. I imagine it's to conflict less with Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story which also come out in May.

My thoughts exactly in regards to the reason.

Still, I'm not too worried about the sudden change of release date. Just excited!

It's for the best that they avoid keeping this too close to Solo. While I'v enjoyed how Disney has been releasing their Marvel and Disney films close together, usually they manage to have both thrive.

Marvel didn't have a movie in late 2015, since Age of Ultron and Ant-Man were already out by that point, so they had no risk of The Force Awakens cannibalizing anything from Marvel.

2016 had both Doctor Strange and Rogue One. While I would say Star Wars is definitely bigger than Marvel, both films were far enough apart that they were able to each succeed in their own ways.

2017 had Thor: Ragnarok and The Last Jedi. The Last Jedi was easily the bigger film, though Ragnarok was released earlier enough that it was able to succeed. Plus, Ragnarok was competing with Justice League, which is the kind of competition we should be expecting.

But with this, if we had Infinity War, Deadpool, and Solo all in the same month, it would be horrible. Infinity War is Marvel Studios' biggest film yet, while Solo is on the scale of Rogue One. It's a really "small" movie up against a gigantic film. And while Deadpool 2 could be considered a rival film, much like Justice League, Disney is still trying to acquire Fox. I highly doubt that a competition between Infinity War and Deadpool 2 is something either company wants. However, now it comes down to Deadpool 2 vs. Solo, which are being released just one week apart. However, I think both movies will do well in that instance.

God I'm so excited to see Corvus Glaive. I never read Infinity, but that little Free Comic Book Day prelude to the event was enough to win me over with him. I find it a little funny that Corvus seemed to be based on the Other from Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy (The guy who spoke to Loki and Ronan on Thanos' behalf), and now we're getting Corvus himself in the movie.

Really glad how this movie showed more of how the cast will be interacting, and Gamora alluding to what Thanos actually did in the comics was chilling.

I think what works about what we've seen is how this can be the Black Order against the Avengers, and the Black Order does have a variety in both personalities and abilities. So far we've seen Corvus Glaive taking the Mind Stone from Vision, and now Ebony Maw is mostly likely going to take the Time Stone from Doctor Strange.

Are you sure it wasn't loki? It looked like Loki's scepter

That being said, taking the mind stone, which created Vision, from him would kill him, yes?

If so this is really really trashy. Ultron was basically fighting the entire Avengers team at the same time, and vision manages to one shot him. But now one of Thanos's underlings is gonna take visions stone from him and maybe kill him, and THEN the avengers are gonna beat Thanos?

The power creep in what can be no more than a few years time span, is awful storywise

Corvus Glaive is so named because he has... well, a glaive. And judging by the legs, those seemed more like him. So yes, I'm sure it wasn't Loki.

It probably could kill Vision, so I wouldn't be surprised if he dies here.

I'm not sure how they can beat Thanos. There's going to an Avengers 4, and I imagine that what Gamora said will come to pass. The film could end with Thanos having obtained all of the Infinity Stones, and with a snap of his fingers, kills half the life in the universe. And then, cut to black...

The power creep in this case would be fairly justified, because we've seen what the majority of the stones could do just on their own. Power and Mind are the only times we've seen more than one stone in a single film, and while we still haven't seen Soul yet, there's still the idea that Thanos is going to use all six Stones when this film is through. So the question is how they could possibly defeat Thanos when the odds truly are heavily against them.

I just realized something. We see half of the cast in Wakanda, and the other half on Titan. I'm assuming both of the major battles concurrently, since we don't see anyone who is in both places.

Sure, we see that Tony is fighting on Titan, and we see the Hulkbuster in Wakanda. But we don't see who is piloting the Hulkbuster. But we do see that Bruce standing next to the Hulkbuster arm in the beginning of the first trailer. So I'm thinking that he is the one wearing the Hulkbuster Armor, and we're going to see the Hulk bust out of the Hulkbuster.

[spoiler=spoiler]You guys still alive out there? No one's dust?

Can't say I expected that ending but can't say I didn't. Marvel's got us by the groin, they might as well keep us buying tickets.

That being said, holy sheet, that was pretty fantastic. The Guardians easily stole the spotlight for me, closely followed by Thanos.

But let's be real here, am I the only one who's kinda offput by the change they made to Thanos after seeing him in the first Guardians? Not only does he look slightly different, but it's like he's got a different personality. Not saying they didn't nail him, but I look back at that scene of him in the floating throne and I just don't see the same guy.

Either way, Steve Rogers had the best entrance, imo. That lance grab was so great.

and Groot as a snobby teenager was quite the development. Are they gonna make him fall in love next?

So many questions, tbh, yet the only one that matters is this

HOW WILL CAPTAIN MARVEL SAVE THE UNIVERSE?

[spoiler= ]I was personally off-put by Thanos' motivation, tbh.

I mean, he's got the glove that essentially lets him do whatever, right?  His goal was to kill half the universe to achieve balance and provide enough for all... so why couldn't he just make more resources?

I mean, both are temporary solutions, but it's kinda the difference between pulling people down to your level or building yourself up to a higher level.  Thanos' plan feels like the former.

Also, maybe it's just me being so used to DBZ, but if Mantis was literally playing with the gravity of Titan (suggesting it was a fairly low G locale), how tf is Thanos so naturally strong?

But yeah, as I said in my status: cool movie

[spoiler=spoiler]HAHAHAHAHAHAHA WHAT THE sheet IS CAPTAIN MARVEL SUPPOSED TO DO ABOUT THIS????

[spoiler=spoiler]Considering she's basically Marvel's Superman, I bet they've been holding out just to dish out the plot save when all seems homeless

I bet it'll have something to do with retrieving the time stone and resetting Thanos' destruction, but idk

[spoiler=huge spoiler]Nah.

The day will be saved by Stark. All of this started with Iron Man 1, it's up to him to save the universe. Strange's last words, "this was the only way" show that, when looking into the future, he knew Thanos would win. He knew that the only way to save the universe would be for Stark to survive, even at the cost of everyone.

Tony Stark is the one who will save the day.
