Ghosting:

Any player who fails to post in a roleplay after at least 10 days have passed since their last post is considered to be ghosting. Roleplayers who are ghosting are barred from joining or creating any new roleplays for a duration of time equal to their absence from the roleplay (in other words, a minimum of 10 days). The same rule applies to hosts who fail to keep their own roleplays running by not posting in them. These penalties stack if someone is ghosting in more than one roleplay. Should a player or a host inform the other participants of an unavoidable absence of any length, they are granted leniency, but this can only be extended to an individual once every 30 days. As well, a host may at any time and for any reason grant leniency to an absent player at their discretion. All hosts (or players, if the host is MIA) are required to inform the Roleplaying Section moderator of any ghosting absences, and the section will be kept updated with a list of penalized roleplayers at [insert link here].

So I take the lack of comments to mean that this is solid enough to put into effect? And if so what should our next topic be?

I agree with Dad that, if it's not 10 days since their last post, it should be 10 days since the last host post OR 10 days since the last post that allows them to post. It would be pretty unreasonable for mods to keep track of that all, though, so it could be up to the host's discretion to report that stuff (just as I'm sure it would be with the unavoidable absence clause).

If that's too much, then since the last host-post they haven't posted after should be suffice.

Basing things on the host's posts as well as [GHOST]'s posts can get confusing as to which takes priority  and when (like for real i'm having trouble interpreting my own drafts, though it could just be me being stupid), and the idea for the rule is to keep everyone active. I think the simplest, cleanest way to word things should basically boil down to: If its been at least 10 days since you've had an opportunity to post and you haven't posted, you're ghosting, and the host and/or other players are allowed to report you to the moderator for it.

While this is cleaner, it would require a lot of mod interaction.  If the host deems [GHOST] has had ten days to post but they aren't sure about posting due to character interaction, timeline issues, etc, that leaves the [GHOST] at the host's mercy.

Theoretically that problem would be solved by OOC communication, though even if everyone is talking to one another there can still be problems.

Can anyone think of a way to keep this simple while remaining as fair as possible? And if not, which extreme do you all feel would be preferable? In my opinion the easiest way to go about it is just making sure everyone posts once every ten days.

I just realized but how does this work with an RP that hasn't had any posts at all in over a week? Is everyone punished despite that the RP itself has stalled?

The idea is that ghosting is dependant on people reporting it. If no one takes issue with someone’s absence they won’t be punished.

At least thats how i think its supposed to work?

Well since nobody has any objections it seems, the draft below will go into effect at.... lets say midnight EST tonight, unless someone sees a glaring problem with it.

Ghosting:
Any player who fails to post in a roleplay after at least 10 days have passed since their last post can be reported to the Roleplaying Moderator for Ghosting. As well, a host may at any time and for any reason grant leniency to an absent player at their discretion, which overrides any reports made by other players. All hosts (or players, if the host is MIA) are strongly encouraged (but not required) to inform the Roleplaying Section moderator of any ghosting absences, and the section will be kept updated with a list of penalized roleplayers at [insert link here].

On to the next order of business. I think we have way too many topics pinned in the OOC section. DO you guys agree? and if so what should be vetted and is there anything we should update? I have my own ideas but I'd like to get a few of yours first.

Looks good to me.

And just to be sure this would count 10 days after the rule goes into effect I assume? As in if someone already is at 9 days they won't only have 1 day until they're considered ghosting.

As for pinned topics, yes, but....This obviously is important, maybe the discussion thread can be unpinned now that this is being used more?

Rules obviously must stay.

tbh Yui's guide could maybe be a post in the Tips and Resources, with a link to the post in the OP

Same with your OOC guide.

And I guess my review thread isn't being used QQ

Did not forget. Just been a bit busy with the holidays.

My plan as of right now is to close up the cash-in thread (sorry GCRP, you took too long) and then work on consolidating the guides together.

Speaking of guides, I’m always open to adding new ones if people feel a need for them or want to write them.

I’d like to pitch an idea to everyone.

A roleplaying “school” thread, or even a section, meant to help (new) people improve their writing and get acclamaited to the section’s rules. We don’t really have a place for people to ask for help, except for maybe the character review thread, which is dead. It’d be a place to stick the guides, a spot to have discussion threads, as well as more simple “help me with this idea” threads.

What I’m not sure about is how formal it should be, and whether or not it’d be worth appointing or voting in specific members to be around and lend a hand in an official capacity.

Do you guys like the idea? Have any suggestions?

I actually love this and I'm not sure why we haven't done it sooner.

Didn't Chaos Sonic pitch something like this at or near the start of the thread? Ah well. I wouldn't mind running some RPs to wrangle in newbies and help them out if this becomes a thing.

Its less about running RPs for them and more just helping improve their writing and character creation. Think of it more like workshopping. Newbie friendly roleplays are a good idea, don’t get me wrong though.

Oh, I get you. Some kind of workshop like that is an interesting idea, to which I must say:

Could put the newbie RPs and the workshop type stuff in a section of their own, along with the guides and stuff that you wanted to move. Hell, you could even call the whole section The Workshop or something.
