It's two in the afternoon. What are you still sleepy for? Wake up. Have some coffee or something.

*Looks at clock... Past noon.... sips at cooffee*

Just in time~

You should have seen the middle school teacher that caused my nickname. He was one of those military-sounding guys right out of cartoons.

noice

i shall call him fred the fed

yes but now I want both

Are you a self-taught artist (for the most part), or do you take lessons?

I had 2 art classes on my senior year of high school (2007-2008), and I took a couple painting classes in college a year or so after, but otherwise I've been drawing by myself since elementary school. The freezing spider is a drawing from 2010, and the beach ball crab is from 2004-ish.

Seriously though Sleepy, if Dova does not wish to steal that spider pic for his avatar, I would love to show it off with your permission... it's adorable and I feel like it speaks to me spiritually.

only if you give me 1 point as compensation

Yes, you can use them no problem xD

Have you attempted to sell these paintings to the Louvre

No, I've never been much of a business person. I'm a bit too shy, and I feel I lack discipline to make a business out of this.

Why don't we talk that much, and how can we change that?

IDK, I guess we can talk whenever we bump into each other xD

I'm not one to really approach people on my own, and I've never thought too hard on it, but I mean, whenever you wanna chat I'm up for it.

You did post in my profile a few times this month. Which I have to admit got me curious because I don't think we had interacted the rest of the year and I didn't particularly become much more active at YCM to get attention. But I'm just a naturally weird hermit, don't mind it and feel free to approach me.

They're adorable, and I'm glad you kept them!

What exactly are they've paintings of though

[spoiler=The paintings from my art classes, I can more or less show 2]

This is a badly photographed one from 2009, the original drawing that originated the idea I made at the cafeteria with my sister, and it's right below:

Next I only have the concept art for:

If you meant the drawings I'm posting right now, it's how I drew back in middle school, except for a couple of spiders.

They were.. umm well... my noob card concepts from before YCM xD

Why is your Member Status: "Shooting Star~"? I'm assuming it has something to do with some sort of club, correct?

It actually says "Soothing Star", not "Shooting" xD

I made a thread when I put that on, asking for ideas for it. This one was Darj's suggestion, and I really liked how it sounded.

I wanted something that could be traced back to revolving around the theme of "sleepy", so sleep > dream > night > night sky > moon and stars.

Also, Shooting Star Dragon is somewhat of an emblem from the Synchro era how I went through it. My favorite Yugioh era for playing IRL.

double question

why did you think it was a good idea to call this ass

Also, why "Sleepy"?

It being just an acronym for Ask Sleepy Stuff, I thought I could get away with it as long as it was the Misc section xD

Also, I didn't wanna use AMA. Thought it'd sounds more chill to say "ask me stuff" than "ask me anything".

My nickname is because there was this one classmate in 8th grade, the kind that nicknames everybody in the room, acts as class clown, and can say slightly meaner things without coming across as badly as he could have. There was an anecdote behind all nicknames, and mine has to do with Science class.

We had this hardcore-sounding teacher that sounded like a sergeant, but was actually kind of crappy at his job. He assigned us to Bill Nye videos, book activities, etc, and left us to do whatever during the rest of the class. The one thing he watched out for though, was falling asleep in class.

Now, for context, I have always lived in Mexico, and am of the generation that crossed the border everyday to go to school in this region. I could not stay in my legal "residence" because the guy that lived there is a compulsive hoarder with very little space or hygiene. So I had to make do with the 20 minute ride to the border, and 1 to 3 hours of line to cross, plus taking a trolley. It was my first year not studying in Mexico, and naturally, I fell asleep in half my classes that weren't physical education.

Somehow, I was the one student that of that teacher that seemed to have the skill to lower my head the whole class without being noticed. It was comical that one day the teacher yelled at a girl to my very side for doing as much as waving her head in sleepiness, while I was cross-armed with my face buried. I still to this day occasionally get people tell me I look sleepy even when I'm not.

Just like mostly anybody else in my class, I didn't like being called that, but eventually grew fond of it, especially compared to other nicknames and seeing mine was about the tamest xD

Oh, I'm sorry. It's hard to read with it being Highlighted like that. Anywho, since you obviously like Synchro monsters as much as I do, what was your favorite Synchro monster? Mine's Stardust Dragon.

To be fair, I thought the purple vs green values of my member tittle would look much better together than they actually do. They cancel each other in a weird grey-looking mix. I need to specify the values of those colors that I want and ask a mod about it, but it would probably be kind of a pain, for both me and the mod that ends up doing the job (most likely Sakura).

I don't know, that was a time when rather than being fond of a single monster, I took pride on making underdog decks that could toolbox across the range of Levels. I have a lot of good memories of a lot of Synchros, though mostly the 3 first signer dragons.

I consider Stardust Dragon a genius design hard to replicate. GX era cards from Phantom Darkness and Light of Destruction had powercreeped the ability to destroy and so this card was the first emblem of a card that's usable by mostly all decks in existence and countered them in a way that was theoretically balanced (a bit troublesome in TeleDAD where you could make like 2 copies turn 1 if you wished for it). It had somewhat of an ability to bridge people hesitant of the game change to try it out. I remember a friend was like "old school forever, Synchros will ruin the game", until he learned Stardust could kill the annoying Horus LV8 and work under Skill Drain and Necrovalley, while still having killable Dark Magician stats, and was like "this is awesome!". I don't think there's ever been a main character Ace that's been this good. Utopia had the potential for this too, had it come out earlier than Stardust and maybe without the self-destruction clause.

Black Rose turned so many games around, and in the absence of Dark Hole, it was greatly appreciated to force some sort of holding back for players. It was also proper timing since its harshest counter (Stardust) had just been released. Thanks to the Plant engine being so prominent, I also occasionally made surprise second Black Rose effect usages, which people always forgot the card could do.

Red Dragon too, since so many people deemed it trash, and so it was the most Underdog-ish card. I loved using this one. I once killed 5 high-DEF monsters with it against a stall Exodia deck that trusted nobody ran the monster. Another time I Mind Controlled a Stardust and killed it with Red-Dragon's effect. Another time I clashed against a Stardust Assault Mode with Red Dragon without having to resort to baiting out its effect, and proceeded to double Rekindling the field. Good times.

The eyes on some of them remind me of this guy:

Anywho:

What anime did you grow up watching on television?

Depends on the age xD

Since I have memory up until I was like 6, I remember:

Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, that Dragon Quest anime that looked like a prototype for Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Heidi, Candy Candy, and Samurai Pizza Cats (some I remember more than others).

Late 90s and a little bit past it:

Dragon Ball Z/GT, Pokemon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Digimon Adventure/02/Tamers, Inuyasha.

Early 2000s:

Ultimate Muscle, Shaman King, Megaman (I think it was the NT Warrior series), Shin-chan (IDK why I only discovered it at this time), Beyblade, Medabots, and finally Yugioh DM.

I did not watch Rurouni KenshinSamurai X back in the day. Got curious much later.

When I was in high school and finally knew about the term "anime":

Azumanga Daioh, Love Hina, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Panic, School Rumble, Tsubasa Chronicles, Hellsing. Yugioh GX.

During college days:

Narto, Bleach, Yugioh 5Ds, Vanguard.

Recent history:

Konosuba, Jojo (parts 1 to 4 and counting), One Punch Man, obligatory Yugioh series that remain.

I mean, I've watched a lot more than that, but those are the shows that I liked at least to some degree, off the top of my head. I watched a bit too much stuff...... and read even more manga. If you wanna ask me about my opinion on any of these single titles, or something you think I should know that's not on the list (and why it might not be there), feel free to. xD
