Hydrothermic Nethershark
FIRE
✪✪✪✪✪✪ (Level 6)
[Fish/ Fusion/ Effect]
ATK/ 2200 DEF/ 200

"Dissolverock"+ "Corroding_Shark"

All other face-up monsters with DEF less than this card's ATK are changed to Defense Position. Once, during either player's turn: You can target 1 face-up monster on the field with DEF; it loses 500 DEF, and its effects are negated until the end of this turn. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict double piercing battle damage to your opponent.

Trying to figure out how the Fusion Materials (in a flavoristic sense) would actually fit, but we've seen weirder things so...

Obvious note that "Links don't give a sheet about its effect because they don't have DEF and cannot be changed to Defense Position" anyway, but for the most part, it should generally neuter a few things, sans common boss monsters. Probably general gripe is that it is a better Breakthrough Skill for monsters (on field anyway), but that's minor and I don't see it as an issue. Doubled piercing is nice too.

Card is fine; probably could see play in competitive if the materials were more "usable", but that's going into Advanced design (and I'm trying to filter out my meta comments from posts I make in this section).

Well without the card art... I don't think one could capture my vision instantaneously... But I digress. It has to do with, Hydrothermal Vents, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrothermal_vent which is combines the essence of lava and water, and the Netherworlds which is basically hell. Dissolverock's card text describes itself as being from a lava pit, and Corroding Shark's theme, despite being a DARK Zombie, involves the water/fish-esque aspect I was going for. As for the effect of this card, in terms of those to, the words "Corroding" and "Dissolve" came to mind as breaking down defenses.

As for the value of norms being Fusion Materials. Norms have quite a bit of support to get their stuff along with generic Fusion Material searchers. Unexpected Dai, Dark Factory of Mass Production, Painful Decision, Silent Doom, Swing of Memories, etc.

First effect is fine. Nothing too spectacular for the specific Fusion Materials. Second effect is a little better. Sure, at first its just a DEf decrease, but negation's welcome. The last effect is kind of cool. Reminds me of Stone Statue of the Aztecs. Given the Materials, you could make this a Contact Fusion. Sure, you could add the materials with stuff like Painful Decision and various Fusion cards like Fusion Reserve, but it seems slow.

To be fair, it's hard to visualize without pics (but it's not required). IDK if you plan on drawing the art at a later time and then posting it in Sleepy's club.

But I figured as much for the design (though the materials are super old so I forgot what their texts said)

For casual applications, it's fine. Oh hell, it's also Rekindling food for however much that's worth.
