Magnet Reverse!

Recommended Posts

What with all the news threads I figured I'd go back to the well and dig up a rock with strange magnetic properties.

This can revive Gaia Saber, Qliphort Genius, Gem-Knight Phantom Core, and Crystron Needlefiber to a choice MMZ, which is great for either opening up zones for more ED monsters and/or laddering, with certain decks being able to make one of those almost every time.

So far, Gaia Saber can only be used as 3 Link Materials for Firewall Dragon or a very incomplete Skulldeat, but getting arrows where you want them before turning any monster into a Firewall Dragon is pretty good value.

Grinder Golem+Magnet Reverse is a full-powered Tri-Gate Wizard:

Grinder=2 tokens>Linkuriboh+Linkuriboh/Link Spider>Akashic Magician>it bounces Grinder.

Grinder=2 tokens>Security Dragon, it bounces Grinder.

Grinder=2 tokens>Security Dragon+token for Gaia Saber, then Gaia Saber+token for Firewall Dragon#1>it bounces Grinder.

Magnet Reverse=Gaia Saber to middle MMZ

Grinder=2 tokens. Tribute a token for Linkuriboh's GY effect to Special Summon it. Akashic Magician+Linkuriboh=Tri-Gate in the unoccupied MMZ next to Gaia Saber. Now other Token+Gaia Saber=Firewall Dragon#2 to your middle MMZ. Use its effect to bounce Grinder.

Grinder=2 tokens. Firewall Dragon#1+token=Proxy Dragon to unoccupied zone beside Tri-Gate, other token=Linkuriboh/Link Spider to the EMZ above Tri-Gate, which is the opposite one you started with but both are vacant so it's cool.

This combo would only be available in the OCG for the next three weeks until Firewall Dragon is Limited, but generally exhibits the power of Magnet Reverse as an extender. This with Gaia Saber would be very good if we get any Link-5+ monsters that use non-effect monsters or Machines. If nothing else, you get back a 2600 ATK beater that can co-Link with anything that uses co-Links, as none to date use diagonal arrows.

Genius and Needlefiber can ladder into much more than Gaia Saber and can be used as 2 materials for most generic Link-3s and 4s.

Other cool things this does:

ABC-Dragon Buster: This card's main use so far. You can tag it out then Special Summon it back with this. This card saw a price spike when ABC's were top tier, and now it has additional utility with Machine Links.

Crystrons: Being a Quick-Play Spell has added value here for reviving Quandax, Accel Synchron, T.G. Wonder Magician, or Needlefiber to use for accel Synchro shenanigans on your opponent's turn.

Cyber Dragons: Revives Rampage Dragon, Nova, or Infinity to the MMZ, the latter two of which don't need Xyz Materials to do their things. You can also use it on Cyber Eltanin for a chainable board wipe on either player's turn, or use this to bring back whatever applicable monster you banished off Eltanin or Overload Fusion.

Invoked: Special Summons Invoked Mechaba back including for a surprise negate on your opponent's turn, which is particularly cool after banishing it off Invocation to fuse for Invoked Elysium.

Magnet Warriors: The archetype this was made for! Unfortunately, even when it comes to a card specifically made for them Magnet Warriors are outshone by ABCs. This is still similarly strong for reviving their counterpart boss monster in Berserkion after tagging it out.

How do you use Magnet Reverse!? Is it too much of a consistency concern, or is it just waiting to see another spike in popularity and price? Personally I think it's a pretty good investment while it's relatively cheap, all Links considered and what with the potential this has for the mechanic moving forward through the VRAINS. does this have the "the monster had to have been properly special summoned first" bs?

Yea.  This doesn't bypass Nomi clauses, but it enables them to be recovered once they have been summoned properly.

This is a really cool find.  It, like Cattle Call, is one of those that could easily jump into the spotlight under the right conditions.  I think it could potentially be a strong play-extender, but it might need one more super generic interaction/card before it becomes a gimme card.

Loved this in Crystrons.

Yeah this works really well with Needlefiber. Wouldn't run more than 2 though since it only works on the Extra Deck monsters, and you already have Crystron Impact which can already Special Summon Needlefiber.
