If this card or a Spellcaster monster(s) you control in a zone this card points to is sent to the GY by a card effect (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon 1 Spellcaster monster from your Deck that is the same original Attribute as 1 of those destroyed monsters, but 1 Level higher or lower. Card A is weird. It places itself in the Field Zone instead of the Pendulum Zone, like why doesn't it place itself in the Pendulum Zone like all cards do? It's unnecesary, imo. And it requires too much setup for such a small reward, adding a Majespecter from the ED to the hand. It's not good enough, and no one would run more than 1 copy of it, if any at all.

Card B, on the other hand, is interesting. It can use any of the Majespecter Spells/Traps on the opponent's monsters as a Quick Effect, but only once while it's on the field. Great, balanced effect for maintaining field advantage. But man, the Link Arrows should've both pointed downwards because the Majespecter Spells/Traps Tribute as a cost, so being able to bring 2 of them back instead of just 1 would've been really nice. The float effect is confusing, though. It SS a Majespecter 1 Level higher or lower than the destroyed monster, but Links don't have a Level, so it can't trigger even though it says "this card"? Idk, I'll just treat it as if it SS any Majespecter when it's destroyed, which again, is another great effect for maintaining advantage.

Vots goes to Card B as it is much better than A, despite the fact that its float effect has confusing wording.

Reminder about Master Rule 4 moving the Pendulum Zone into the S/T zone, so card A's own effect would just leave you one more of your S/T zones free to keep backrow (however much you want to use nowadays). That might be what card A designed around; though I do need to double check on if you can still maintain a standard S/T zone with only 1 Pendulum in there.

But yeah, you can probably assume that "this card" for B was an oversight since it doesn't work due to Links not having a Level.

But that being said, 1-0 B

Just treating an effect as something it isn't is a bad idea. You need to take the effect at face value, as all design aspects come together. Right now, Card B's effect simply won't apply if it sent to the GY, even if it says so, as there are no targets in your Deck for a monster 1 Level higher or Lower than a monster with no Level. Regardless of whether it was intentional or not, it was an oversight in the card design.

However, due to the fact that Card A delves into the experimental section with its effect, leaving a lot up to the imagination and interpretation, it won't get my vote. We can't be sure how it works, even if the idea is helpful for getting over MR4. Card B, on the other hand, is entirely functional, and a Link monster is something the archetype needs. I see nothing broken, but a very helpful card, especially as the last effect dips into the theme of the archetype's MD monsters without become too strong and Summoning any monster.

Vote to Card B.

Yeah, 2-0 BDS for this one.

Vote would've gone to B since it does enable their plays better (hey, at least they got their own archetypal Link). Flavor points off because it's not themed on a mythological creature (unless there is one, but name should normally appear in the English name); though I guess I can give you a pass on it because Japanese one doesn't do it. Also for not causing ruling headaches.

A does address the issue with Pendulums being "nerfed" in MR4 with loss of individual Pendulum Zones. But (and I should've caught this earlier), there will likely be ruling headaches if you already had scales set up in the S/T zone and then use this card's effect to become a new Scale. Also fact that you usually have to wait until turn 2 or later to make use of it. The SSing and search effect are fine; also flavor for name/origin is there [yeah, thank Blaziken and stuff for the basan thing].
