[Striker] Christmas Gifts

Hohoho, Merry Christmas everyone. This thread will house the card gifts that I'm making for certain YCMers. I did my best to revolve the card around something they liked and keep it balanced at the same time. If you happen to receive a gift, then I hope you enjoy it.

[spoiler=Sakura]

U35B1qG.jpg

All monsters on the field and in every GY become Beast-Type monsters. If a player declares an attack or activates a monster card effect (Quick Effect): The other player can pay 800 LP; negate that attack or effect. Both players can only activate this effect of "Zootopia" once per turn.

The reasoning for this card should be obvious. The Zombie World-esque effect at the beginning reflects how Zootopia is filled with animals. The second effect is an attempt at the "peace" between animals there. Why LP for the cost? Eh, something easy to pay and makes people think extra hard about negation late in the duel. Interesting that both players can use the effect too, so shenanigans are abound as each tries to outmaneuver the other with this card.

[spoiler=Eshai]

3AfwpC8.jpg

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
Must first be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by shuffling the above cards you control into your Deck. (This Special Summon is treated as a Synchro Summon). If a monster(s) is Special Summoned (Quick Effect); change it to face-up Defense Position, and if you do, it cannot change its battle position this turn, except by a card effect. Once per turn,  if this attacking card destroys an opponent's Defense Position monster by battle, after damage calculation: It can make a second attack in a row. If this card would be destroyed (Quick Effect): You can return this card to your Extra Deck; Special Summon 2 non-Tuner Level 4 or lower monsters from your Deck. You can only use this effect of "Apocalo, the Devil's Samurai" once per turn.

Ruler of the Weird Concepts, that's Eshai for you. I don't know them well at all, but I do know that they like weird concepts. So, how does a Contact Synchro sound for you? Interesting enough for you, I hope. As for the card itself, fire restricting the actions of Special Summoned monsters (both players are affected due to FIRE knowing no master once it becomes a danger. The dual attack effect comes from BLS-EotB, but I thought having it only go for Defense Position monsters couples it with the first effect makes it better thematically and balance-wise. Though, gotta love the shenanigans with Level Limiter - Area B. Heh.

[spoiler=Dova]

gufqocl.jpg

If a monster is destroyed (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn, if this attacking monster destroys an opponent's monster: You can destroy 1 Spell/Trap card. If this card is destroyed: You can add 1 "Australian Vulture" from your GY or Deck to your hand.

I doubt Australia has vultures. If they don't, let's introduce one. First effect reflects how vultures tend to be attracted to dead animals. Second effect, eh, threw it in because Winged Beast. Meh, filler maybe? *shrugs* Last effect once again goes for the first effects reasoning, but also because Dova like searching. Tengu-esque effect should help with that. Merry Christmas, you desert brit.

[spoiler=Kyumi]

iVmW45Q.jpg

If you control no monsters (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card (from your GY). If this card leaves the field: Draw 1 card. You can only use each effect of "Cheerful Fox" once per turn.

YCM's resident Fox. I don't know much about my new friend here, so I made a happy little fox. I hope its cuteness makes it a good Christmas gift. As for the card, pretty simple fodder, emergency shield, and draw provider. Does a lot in only a couple effects, eh? Yay for cuteness.

[spoiler=Winter]

dEIoeZu.jpg

This card is always treated as a "Shaddoll" card. All monsters on the field and in every GY become WATER Fiend-Type monsters. Monsters cannot declare an attack or activate their effects the turn they are Summoned, except "Shaddoll" monsters. If your opponent activates a card effect and this card is in your GY (Quick Effect): You can banish this card; negate that effect.

Not exactly sure what to say about this. First effect once again resembles Zombie World and is supposed to give a Hell Frozen Over motif, which I find fitting. Also, the weird Attribute/Type combination is interesting. Second effect is supposed to continue that motif and present a "no hope for all who enter here" feeling. Couldn't make it permanent, so the turn monsters are Summoned felt good enough. Last effect, I'm iffy on. I mean, it somewhat feels like it's too much, but at the same time it feels right at home. I'll let others be the judge of that. Well Winter, enjoy your Winter Wasteland.

[spoiler=Sleepy]

n3W1h2E.jpg

Once per turn, if an opponent's card effect is activated (Quick Effect): You can change this card to Defense Position; negate that effect. If an opponent's card effect is activated while this card is in your GY: You can banish this card; negate that effect.

I hope you don't mind me using your avi for this card, Sleepy. It gave me the perfect starting place for your gift. Name is a pun off of Philosorapter, which I find a bit funny. Also, this card makes you think about negation a bit. Given the state of the game (from what I've seen), I think the negation here can get away with being SOPT. If not, let me know. Anyway, enjoy Sleepy.

"desert brit"

Interesting to see an Australian card, and that's a nice little quirk on a present that I haven't seen before. Doesn't have quite the speed to be a splashable engine in Winged Beasts, as unfortunately all effects have HOPT. Perhaps they weren't needed, considering how situational all the effects are, but it is a cute little card. Love the theming in general. Thanks for the present!

It seems I've forced HOPT in my head for so long that I forgot the existence of SOPT. The second effect, in hindsight, can use the SOPT. The third, perhaps a SOPT as well. As for the first, maybe. Unlikely to have more than one in the hand at once, so I guess a SOPT can be good there. Sounds good?

No "Winter Wasteland" :(

You wound me Striker

Don't you think Zootopia's second effect is a little too good? I assume it suffers the same problem as royal oppression. People will vomit their hand on board, summon multiple negators and quick removers, and then play Zootopia

I was going for more theme with that effect, I suppose. Royal Oppression slipped my mind, though I imagine the HOPT helps a bit? Still, it could be a little too good, but I'm not sure. *shrugs*

And don't worry Winter, I'm thinking about one for you.

Monster effect might balance it a bit

Dawwww... It's sooo cute!! Level 1 is something I don't usually see, but I LOVE it's effects. It is probs one of the greatest stand alone stall cards I've ever seen. I can Summon it from my GY to protect myself from a direct attack, then once it dies from said attack, I also get a new card? Wicked awesome! Thank you so much!

I'm glad you liked it. And Level 1 doesn't get enough credit. Always Level 4 or around there (I'm guilty of this). Also, Level 1 tends to be a challenge for most to pull off as you can't do too much with them power-wise. So, two cute effects that can be used in a wide range of situations for a cute card. ^^

From a personal perspective, I was fine with this stopping attacks as well with Zootopia, but as-is, fine too. But yeah, I do like the present.

Then again, trying to see what real life Decks would make good use of it (and even out of the customs I made, though those would likely already be Beast already and got their own toys to play with). IDK, make the Team Unicorn bosses relevant again (as I don't recall other Beast Synchros and stuff).

====

I kinda have to say game related stuff because of nature of CC, but again, I appreciate the gift.

Yea I tend to make Level 2-4 cards too. I don't know why, but I don't think I've ever made a Level 1 card before. Although, I feel like if I tried to make a Level 1 card, I would end up making it too overpowered and it would need to be a Level 2... But yes, the cuteness factor for this card is amazing!!

That's real sweet of you Striker. Thank you~
It is a coincidence that one of my IRL fun decks is a beast-themed highlander deck that this card would work great with.

Rescue Cat sets it up for both the one-shot negation of everything, and the GY protection. Though I'd personally prefer to prevent the destruction of my monsters instead of negating the source. It'd turn field-wide nukes into one-sided ones.

The position-changing style behind it is something I really like. I have made a couple cards that use that, and I actually use Madolche Baaple so it is fitting.

I chuckled when I finished reading the others and got to mine, wondering what mine would look like, and find my giraffe xD

Personally I think Contact Synchro is a bit redundant, but sending the materials to a particular place is really what mattered and that's what you did. Therefore it's weird and unique. Naisu.

As for the effect itself, I might recommend not making it Summon generic Level 4 or lower monsters, since that could be very easily exploited. I feel like it would have to not only Summon the monsters used for its Synchro Summon, but also negate their effects and such. Tbh this kind of recovery effect isn't easy to balance, so I wouldn't expect being able to fix it without changing how it works, whether the trigger for how it Summons the monsters or what happens to them after being Summoned.

Wonder how Contact Xyz would work...

Did you just call me Winter, Sleepy? O.O Oh, and I made a slight edit while you were posting. Kinda strengthens the last effect, but also makes you put more thought into how you use it.

Eshai, I suppose you are referring to Link/Xyz abuse? I suppose I can put a restriction that delays that for a turn. As for your suggestion, wouldn't that open the door for it to return? Main reason why I did non-Tuner monsters was to avoid that suddenish "I'm back" play. And yea, I see why you may find Contact Synchro redundant as it closely resembles Contact Fusion. I remembered doing one almost 7 years ago, so I thought "why the hell not?". As for Contact Xyz, I have thoughts on that. Xyz Materials detach to the Deck instead to the Graveyard with the tag out effect (if one chooses to use one) that Special Summons monsters that aren't the same Levels or a Level that's not the Rank of the Contact Xyz. Seems doable, I think.

I like it, very honest to a "freezing aspect" of Winter

Only changes I'd make is to carve in exemptions of the negate rules for my main deck (shaddolls)

Edited. Sorry about that. I did not confuse you with him, but that was a dumb and embarrassing typo. It's been a busy time of year and I often can half-write comments while I get called for something ^^"

Reasoning being "I don't want to get screwed by this card" or "so it can see major use"?

Well, I hope that my gift at least took the feeling of business for a while, Sleepy. *hugs* And you're welcome. ^^

Hmm, the freeze effects not affecting Shaddolls should be enough

The type change is nice for flavor, but doesn't really do much. I'd slap on a clause that it's always treated as a shaddoll card. At that point you're golden

Changes made. Just give me a "sec" to update the OP.

This is actually really cool

ElShaddollAnoyatyllis-CROS-EN-ScR-1E.png

After Lilith absorbs construct and Nekroz of Trishula, she becomes a water fiend with the power of the three Ice Barrier Dragons

It would actually fit lore to say she creates a winter Wasteland before being beheaded eventually

Thanks a ton :)

You know, I wouldn't have thought of that on my own. Thanks for helping me with your gift, Winter. ^^
