Minecraft, a serious anti-Extra Deck archetype

I know what you're thinking. "Minecraft"? Seriously? Do we have a rabid 5-year-old toxic fanboy on our forum? Is this cancer Minecraft fan cringe?

 

Spoiler alert: It's not.

 

Minecraft is a seriously built archetype focusing on punishing Special Summons, mostly Special Summons from the Extra Deck. They do this mainly by lowering stats based on Level and Rank and stuff like that. The archetype also revolves around Normal Summoning more than twice per turn, resulting in turbo Normal Summon-only plays. However, they come at a heavy cost: You cannot have any cards in your Extra Deck, or you're, quite frankly, #$%^ed.

 

Let's get into the meat of the article.

Level 4 EARTH Zombie/Effect

Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles a Link monster: That monster loses 800 ATK x its own Link Rating until the end of the Damage Step. 

ATK/1600.      DEF/400

 

Minecraft Skeleton

Level 4 EARTH Zombie/Effect

Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles a Synchro monster: That monster loses 300 ATK/DEF x its own Level until the end of the Damage Step. 

ATK/1800       DEF/100

 

Minecraft Slime

Level 4 EARTH Aqua/Effect

Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles an Xyz monster: That monster loses 400 ATK/DEF x its own Rank until the end of the Damage Step. When this card is destroyed and sent to the GY while you have no cards in your Extra Deck: Special Summon 1 "Slime Token" (ATK 0/DEF 0/Aqua/Level 1/WATER).

Minecraft Creeper

Level 4 EARTH Plant/Effect

Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles a Fusion monster: That monster loses 300 ATK/DEF x its own Level until the end of the Damage Step.

Minecraft Enderman

Level 7 DARK Fiend/Effect

Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. Your opponent cannot Pendulum Summon monsters from the Extra Deck. When this card battles a Pendulum monster: Activate 1 of these effects.

•That monster loses 300 ATK/DEF x its own Level or Rank until the end of the Damage Step.
•That monster loses 300 ATK/DEF x the total Scale of all cards in your opponent's Pendulum Zones until the end of the Damage Step.

Minecraft Zombie Pigman
Level 6 FIRE Zombie/Effect
Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles a Link monster: That monster loses 800 ATK x its own Link Rating until the end of the Damage Step. Once per turn, you can target 1 Link monster on the field: That monster loses its Link Arrows and its effects are negated until the End Phase.

Minecraft Wither Skeleton
Level 6 FIRE Zombie/Effect
Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles a Synchro monster: That monster loses 300 ATK/DEF x its own Level until the end of the Damage Step. Once per turn, you can target a Synchro monster on the field: Negate its effects until he End Phase.

Minecraft Ghast
Level 6 FIRE Pyro/Effect
Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles a Fusion monster: That monster loses 300 ATK/DEF x its own Level until the end of the Damage Step. When this card attacks a Fusion monster in Defense Position: Inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. Once per turn, when your opponent activates a "Polymerization" card: You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.

Minecraft Magma Cube
Level 6 FIRE Pyro/Effect
Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. When this card battles an Xyz monster: That monster loses 400 ATK/DEF x its own Rank until the end of the Damage Step. Once per turn, you can target 1 Xyz monster on the field: Detach all materials from that card, then this card gains 500 ATK for every material detached. When this card is destroyed and sent to the GY while you have no cards in your Extra Deck: You can pay 700 LP: Special Summon 2 "Magma Cube Tokens" (ATK 0/DEF 0/Pyro/Level 1/FIRE).

Field Spell

Unless you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, this card's effects are negated. Neither player can Special Summon more than 1 monster from the Extra Deck per turn. Neither player can Special Summon more than twice per turn. During your Main Phase 2, you can Normal Summon 1 Level 4 "Minecraft" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. All "Minecraft" monsters you control gain 500 ATK/DEF.

 

Minecraft Lava Trap

Trap

When your opponent Special Summons a monster from the Extra Deck while you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: Destroy that monster, then inflict damage to your opponent equal to its original ATK.

 

Minecraft Spawn Egg

Spell 

If you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: You can Normal Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Minecraft" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set this turn. You can only activate 1 "Minecraft Spawn Egg" per turn.

 

Minecraft Nether Egg

Spell

If you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: You can Tribute Summon 1 "Minecraft" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set this turn. You can only activate 1 "Minecraft Nether Egg" per turn.

 

Minecraft Sand Trap

Trap

When your opponent Special Summons a monster while you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: Negate that card's effects, then change it to Defense Position. Cards that have had their battle positions changed by this card's effect cannot change their battle positions.

 

Minecraft Sharp Sword

Spell

If you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: This turn, all battle damage your opponent takes from battles with "Minecraft" monsters is doubled.

 

Minecraft Creative Mode

Spell

Once per turn, during your Draw Phase, if you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck, instead of conducting your normal draw, you can pay 500 LP: Excavate the top 3 cards of your Deck, then add 1 "Minecraft" card among them to your hand, then send the other cards to the GY. You can only Normal Summon/Set 1 monster the turn you activate this effect.

 

Minecraft Thorns Armor

Trap

If you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: This turn, you take no battle damage, and your opponent takes half of all battle damage you would take this turn.

 

Minecraft TNT

Trap

If you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: Destroy all cards in the same column as this card. You can only activate 1 "Minecraft TNT" per turn.

Dunno what I was thinking with that one...

 

Minecraft Player List

Spell

If you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: Add 1 "Minecraft" card from your Deck to your hand.

 

Minecraft Renewal

Spell

If you have 0 cards in your Extra Deck: Target 2 "Minecraft" monsters with different Attributes in your GY: Shuffle them into the Deck, then draw 1 card. You can only activate 1 "Minecraft Renewal" per turn.

I'll do the s/t first.

 

1) The field spell:

Way too good. For monarchs. This deck can barely take advantage of it, but monarchs would love this card. Also, consider changing 0 to no

 

2)Lava trap

Meh. Just a modified trap hole. Could burn for victory, and usable in monarchs, not great.

 

3) Both eggs

Outclassed by double summon. You have two cards that are outclassed by a spell card that barely anybody plays. (Except spyrals) You could make them continuous and they'd still be bad.

 

4) Sand trap

Outclassed by a trap hole card. (Forgot which one)

 

5) Sharp sword is somewhat nice, but meh at the same time. It could be continuous and still be meh.

 

6) Creative mode: Great card. Too bad it's unusable since it's just a spell card. Seriously. It's literally impossible to get the effect. You have to make it continous or field for the card to even work. Also, the last restriction doesn't work either. Has to do with rulings and such. The restriction is pointless.

 

7) Thorns armor: Waboku. Waboku with restrictions. Waboku that doesn't protect monsters. Terrible waboku

 

8) TNT: Blasting fuse? I mean, it's a straight upgrade, but it's just meh. I doubt it'd be all that good even if it said target one s/t and one mon your opp controls and destroy them.

 

9) Player list: Great. Monarchs might use it, but probably not. Terraforming and set rotation exist, after all.

 

10) Renewal: It's not bad, recovery and draw. Not amazing.

 

Nothing really punishing. How about a continuous spell, "If you have no monsters in your extra, neither player can special summon." That's a good card.

 

Monsters:

 

The first 4:

Meh. Beatsticks, I guess. Doesn't punish extra deck use though... Fuse them into one master monster with all their effects, and buff the effects themselves, something like:

 

MC Beater (Or whatever, I don't play MC)

lvl 4

ATk 1600

Def 400

If this card battles a xyz, synchro, fusion or link monster, reduce that monster's attack and defense to 0 and negate it's effects until the end of the damage step. You can only activate this effect if you have no cards in your extra deck.

 

That'd be a great card. Then, you could use the remaining slots for some sort of card advantage or floodgate monsters. 

 

Enderman: Just make it "Your opponent cannot pendulum summon." In fact, you could do that for the mini four as well, give each of them a "Your opponent cannot **** summon" effect.

 

Pigman: Great card. If it's effect was quick, it'd be better though, and it'd see some monarchs play.

 

Wither ske: Not quite as good, synchros aren't that prevalent anymore. Make it quick as well.

 

Magma cube: same reason as the one above. It's not great.

 

Ghast is especially bad, because, not only does nobody use fusions, the ones they do use are in no way related to poly. The only ones relevant currently are invocation, shad-fusion, bri-fusion, and a few other such cards. Not poly.

 

Overall: Worse monarchs. Just use monarchs instead. The field spell is the only saving grace, but even that can be used by monarchs.
