Pokemon: Mind and Soul [IC/PG-13/Not Accepting]

Recommended Posts

Genny took a step backward out of confusion as the water did very little to the Machop, shaking slightly. What had she gotten herself into? This was nothing like a contest, she had gotten in over her head. Maybe she should surrender before Etoile got hurt anymore. However, when she glanced at her shining Pokemon... She saw Etoile proudly standing on her hind-fins, flippers out wide, barking as the ring slowly healed her injuries. Genny was still shaking, but she clenched her fists, forcing a smile onto her face.

"You're right, my little butterfly... We just need to use what we do know." She spoke under her breath, before switching to a booming voice as the Machop aimed to kick again. "Jump and shoot water downward, Etoile!"

Responding with a confident bark, Etoile obeyed, launching herself just over the Machop's attack. Genny's smile grew into a grin as her plan worked, Dramatically snapping her fingers and pointing at Etoile. "Now, use pound!"

The Popplio used the momentum to spin herself, slamming one of her flippers into the Machop beneath her...

"What, no fair! Machop, block it." Kenta called out. The Machop raises its arms to take the hit and when Etoile landed Kenta calls out. "Hold the bugger down and Low Kick!"

"Non, monsieur! Our show must go on! Etoile, jaillis!"

As the Machop pinned Etoile down, it was met with a point blank Water Gun to the face, throwing it back. Etoile stood up with her arms wide, triumphantly barking as her injuries continued to slowly heal from Aqua Ring, the Machop sprawled on its back.

Genny had been watching breathlessly at the final tussle, almost breaking the skin on her palm with her nails. When she saw the Machop knocked out, she jumped for joy, shrieking.

"Oh my goodness, you did it!" She rushed over to Etoile, quickly scooping her up to hold her close. "Mama knew you could do it, mon petit papillion!"

Ivan couldn't help but pump his fist as Po landed his attack, sending the Abra back to the ground. The Pancham landed in front of the Abra, fire burning in its eyes. Everything around the battlefield blurred, his focus only on his Pancham. He could of sworn he heard Fuyumi command something, but he didn't catch it nor did he care. "Don't let up now, tackle!" He shouted, pointing to the Abra. This caused the Pancham to hesitate a bit, as the panda was getting ready to block the incoming attack. In this moment of hesitation, the Pancham took the full blunt of the frosty attack, sending the Pancham backwards. Ivan grit his teeth as he saw this. "Po, no!" He could feel memories of his childhood flooding back, seeing his old Rockruff in place of his Pancham.

The Pancham got up, shaking its head from the hit. It was clearly exhausted, but it could still fight. Po turned to Ivan, seeing the panic in the trainer's eyes. Ivan's eye locked onto Po's as he took a deep breath. "It's not over yet..." He muttered to himself, before facing his opponent. There was only one thing Ivan could think to do. "Po, hit the Abra with all you got! Tackle!" He commanded, the panda nodding his head as it went in for another attack. As the Pancham made a dash towards the Abra, it dodged the only Hidden Power fired off by the Abra. He heard another command from Fuyumi but what it was didn't matter to Ivan - his focus was too intent on the Pancham and the Abra, as they got really close to each other. However, just as the Pancham was about to strike the Abra, Ivan realized what Fuyumi intended to do.

"Teleport."

The Pancham flew where the Abra was, landing poorly onto the ground below. Above it was the Abra, floating in the same position it was sitting on the ground. He couldn't believe it, as the Abra launched its attack downward. Taking two hits full-on like that was too much for the tiny panda as it fainted shortly after taking the final blow. Ivan grit his teeth as he recalled the fainted Pancham. He glanced from the corner of his eye to check on how his teammates had done. Both of them had won their battles, and yet Ivan had lost his. He didn't check their faces, but he could feel them mocking him like the others had back in Alola. He had come all this way, to prove himself as a trainer... only to lose his first battle. He turned to Fuyumi, who simply nodded as she recalled her Abra. . "Don't you think this is over, girly. I will beat you." He started to walk forwards, only stopping when he was next to his opponent. "Right, regulations and what not" He begrudgingly said, pull out a small sum of Poke from his pocket and extended it to Fuyumi. He sighed heavily, both angry and disappointing with himself. He didn't dare turn around to face his companions, nor his opponent who's eyes were on him as he walked pass.

He needed some time to cool off alone. As he continued to try and get past the trio, however, he was stopped by Chad. "What's the rush for? Aren't you going to the Pokémon Center? Tsk, at least you should know that much." Ivan growled, shifting his intense gaze at Chad.

"Mind yer own damn business, punk!" He barked, continuing to walk past him. If Chad, or anyone of the trio were to try and stop him, he would shove them out of his way. His companions were a slightly different story, although he wouldn't stop for them either. He needed this moment for himself.

"Sorry biker people."

"Heeeell to the no, brats. We don't got nothing to apologize, especially not cause of some wannabe tough guy."

"Yeah, you really don't want to be messing with us. When we're on top we'll make sure to find you both and make ya pay."

"Nobody gets in our way, we're going to rise from the ashes and take this region for our own. C'mon, man, Alicia's waiting on us."

"Tch, you're lucky we're too busy for the likes of you."

"They were grumpy."

"Yeah...I'm just glad it didn't escalate into something more... violent."

As Oswald helped Nomi get up to her feet - was she not even capable of doing that herself? - Kanon took a bit to think about those bikers that the former had encountered. "rising from the ashes and taking this region for their own" didn't sound like a good sign. They were probably dangerous, if "we" didn't just mean two or three people and actually meant a large organized team. The last story Kanon heard that involved teams and ashes also involved awakening ancient legendary Pokemon slumbering beneath the Hoenn Region and directly endangering countless lives as a result. Somebody would have to put a stop to them.

Not Kanon, hopefully. She wasn't nearly experienced enough for that sort of thing. She was good at camping though. Which brought her attention back to the supplies she'd purchased. "I did some shopping," Kanon stated, showing to the others what she'd purchased. "My gut said there was no way Nomi would get camping supplies like you asked, so I took the liberty of doing it myself. Now that we have them, we should probably get out of this dull little town and out into the region proper."

"Are you alright?"  He asked her, as he pulled the girl to her feet.  "Your leg doesn't hurt or anything?  That was a pretty big guy who fell across your legs you know.  You're pretty oblivious, but even that should've hurt a bit."

Naomi gave a lazy grin up at the boy. "Iskay, I'm tough, just ask Princess!" She patted her leg. "Well padded." She said with a giggle. She wasn't fat but it was true she was...soft around the edges, plus she tended to dress warmly which, in this case, meant she was wearing sweatpants underneath her normal pants.

"My gut said there was no way Nomi would get camping supplies like you asked, so I took the liberty of doing it myself. Now that we have them, we should probably get out of this dull little town and out into the region proper."

"But I did!...See?" She pulled the marshmallows out of her bag. "Every camping trip needs these." She gave an almost proud look at the two.

After this the group made their way out of the town. They saw signs of a Pokemon battle at the edge of the town but no signs of whoever had it. Whatever the case they were clear to enter the very first route of the region.

Route 101 was a very straight-forward, almost literally, route. It had a single road leading through the middle with plenty of tall grass along each side. The trainers there seemed to be mostly young boys and girls with the more common Pokemon, and they seemed to be having a good time searching the grass and battling each other. The land was flat for the most part, with slight rises and dips here and there, and the sun shined high in the sky.

[spoiler=Route 101]Note: If trainer teams not specified leave it to the Player to decide as long as it’s not too far out there.
Note2: Encounters are just a basis and the most common Pokemon found; if Players want a specific Pokemon that fits there they can ask.

Trainers: Several Youngsters and Lasses with common Pokemon
Encounters: Rattata, 25%. Rockruff, 20%. Patrat, 35%. Starly, 15%.

The route will take a couple days to travel overall. As long as you don't go overboard feel free to battle NPC trainers and catch Pokemon. Let me know so we can work out EXP, Pokedollars, and items used. I won't allow "grinding" too much but a bit is fine.

"Aww, nuts, can't believe ya beat me. Only Chad and Fuyumi did that before." Kenta said. "Hey, your Pokemon is really strong, I've never seen one like it before." Kenta said to Genevieve, inching closer out of curiosity.

That is until Chad snapped at him. "Kenta what are you doing, they're our opponents, remember?"

Kenta hit his fist against his other open hand. "Oh yeah, that's right! Thanks for reminding me boss!" He called out. "Sorry lady, we should get going."

Fuyumi didn't say anything to the group. Simply moving on next to Chad and nodding at him. "Next time." She said at last.

Chad nodded. "Yeah, exactly, next time we'll stomp them. Good job Fuyumi, looks like that guy is their weak link."

Unless the group stopped them, the trio would head back for the Pokecenter at this point. Chad and Fuyumi staring straight ahead with Kenta waving at the two girls.

[spoiler=OOC]If the group wishes to also move to the route they can, just be aware they aren't on the same timeline as Team NOK. But if you want to stick around a bit/interact in the city, feel free.

As Chad declared that she would've lost in a "real" battle Jacklyn merely turned her head saying, "loser." Looking back to Rus, who seemed to be beat up and tired, Jacklyn said, "good job again boy. You really showed that Nidoran who's boss. I'll be sure to give you some trail mix when we get you all patched up." While the girl had a giddy expression on her face, the Lepash didn't seem to let out a sigh, before closing its eyes and beginning to rest. "Right, good job buddy." Bringing out her pokeball, she returned it into the device before pocketing the ball.

As the trio left, Jacklyn looked around and saw Genny seemingly in a good mood as well. "Hey Genny! I take it you won? Good job showing those jerks what for." She gave a thumbs up to her other female team member before looking around. With a curious look on her face she said, "hey where did Ivan g- AHA!" She cut herself off as she saw the figure of the man in question walking away from them. Deciding to go after him, Jacklyn began walking saying, "come on Genny."

Following Ivan proved to be a bit difficult, as he had managed to turn off the main road in a direction that Jacklyn hadn't managed to see. Nonetheless, with her adventurer's intuition at her side and he voice shouting, "Iiiiivan, Iiiiiivan. Where are yooooou," the girl had eventually turned a corner into an alleyway. Seeing the boy, she shouted, "Ivan! Found you." Walking into the alley, she went to the pat him on the back saying, "I know you're about as ready to adventure as I am, but an alley's a different kind of adventure altogether. So let's go get our pokemon rested up and tally ho!" With a smile on her face, the girl pumped her fist into the air in enthusiasm.

He wasn't sure where he was headed too - originally, he was going to storm off to the next town before realizing that his Pokemon was, in fact, knocked out. Even he wasn't stupid enough to charge into the wild like that. However, he couldn't exactly come the way he left due to how he had left. So instead he took a sharp right, wandering back into the city around the large group. He didn't really have a place in mind to go, although the Pokemon Center would be nice.

As he wandered the city aimlessly, all he could think about was his lost and how things were back in Alola. Memories he had long hoped to have abandoned were now flooding in, and all he could think about was how things had gone down with his Rockruff. "Maybe they were right..." He muttered to himself, now more defeated than angry. He turned up to look where he was... only to be greeted by an alley way he did not recognize. "Coming here was a mistake." He said, turning back to see where he had came from in a vein hope that he would be able to recognize anything. To his dismay, all the buildings were foreign to him. He shook his head. "Well that's unfortunate..." He decided to take a break in the alley way, taking in the time to reflect on what happened.

Not long after his break, however, he felt something pat him on the back, "I know you're about as ready to adventure as I am, but an alley's a different kind of adventure altogether. So let's go get our pokemon rested up and tally ho!" He nearly jumped, being lost in his own thought, as the excitable girl found him. She seemed really chipper about it, not addressing his lost at all. He wasn't sure if she was being accepting or oblivious. She would see his face have a somber look to it for a second, before seemingly shifting into his almost bored-looking demeanor he usually had.

"Oh I sure am ready..." He muttered, before nodding his head. "Alright, lead the way." He said, masking the fact that he had no idea where the Pokemon Center was.

Genevieve giggled slightly at Kenta's antics, amused by how simple he was. He didn't seem to mean any ill will, unlike Chad, so she couldn't say she would be upset if she ran into him again. He was harmless.

Before she could even turn around, Jacklyn had appeared, giving her praise and immediately beckoning her away to follow Ivan, who seemed to have stormed off. Clutching Etoile tight in her arms, she let out a sigh, unsure if she would ever be able to keep up with a girl like that. In fact, she repeatedly lost the girl as she sped through the city, barely managing to find her before she disappeared again. Just as she thought she had lost both of her companions, she heard something down an alleyway just ahead of her.

"I know you're about as ready to adventure as I am, but an alley's a different kind of adventure altogether. So let's go get our pokemon rested up and tally ho!"

Genny smiled, rubbing Etoile's ears pensively. Jacklyn seemed to have found Ivan, and, dense as the girl was, seemed to be doing her best to cheer him up. She waited patientily as the pair talked in the alleyway, pretending she had just made it there when they emerged once more.

"Ah! There you two are! I looked everywhere," She panted, laying it on fairly thick, "But I did find the Pokemon Center... Should we head that way?"

Oswald raised a skeptical eyebrow as the girl assured him she was fine, but didn't press the topic any further, content enough that she seemed it. "Well, it's still good to be mindful of your surroundings." After Oswald had chided the girl, his other group member had arrived as well, showing that she had brought with her camping supplies for the road. While Oswald was about to congratulate the girl's apparent responsibility in shopping, his attention was then seized by Naomi once again. His expression was one that was more speechless more than anything else, unsure if she was doing this on purpose at this point.

"Right." He flatly stated.

It wasn't long after that the group had ended up making their way out of the city. Taking in a breath of fresh air, Oswald took in the whole scenery around him, having been the first instance of traveling in this region. While the scene was new and rural, crime didn't exist only within the walls of a city. And so, his brow furrowed as the boy began to seem to be on the lookout for anything. After a cursory look, he turned to the others saying, "well ladies, let us begin our journey proper. Remember to keep a watchful eye out so we don't get into any avoidable trouble. Yes, that means you too," he said sternly towards Naomi.

As Ivan seemed to be ready for adventure, Jacklyn's expression was cheery as she said, "don't worry, I'll find it in no time!" Beginning to ruffle through her pockets to the get the map, Genny then approached saying that she knew where to find it. Stopping her search, she pumped her fist into the air saying, "good initiative Genny! After all," pulling Rus's pokeball out she said, "my little guy here needs some rest. Well, lead the way Genny!"

After the group had stopped by the pokemon center, Jacklyn had, with greater fervor, lead the group to their first route. Looking across it, it was simple, straight, and there wasn't anything really of note to it. Jacklyn looked at it with a neutral expression as she said, "this place is," after a short pause her face lit up saying, "PERFECT! It's the greatest way to start an adventure after all. So gang, let us go. Onward!" Pumping her fist into the air, a smile plastered across her face, Jacklyn began doing a strange combination of marching and skipping down the route.

"But I did!...See? Every camping trip needs these."

"Right."

"...at least you tried," Kanon sighed. It was the thought that counted, right? Kanon decided it was probably better not to linger on it for too long. And thus, the group was off. There was an entire Korova Region to explore, and a dingy old town to get out of.

iU8EggM.png

Kanon, for one, welcomed the change in scenery. Away from towns and cities, just her, her group, and the great outdoors. She could have done without these random other trainers in the way though.

"Well ladies, let us begin our journey proper. Remember to keep a watchful eye out so we don't get into any avoidable trouble. Yes, that means you too."

"Let's," Kanon agreed, leading the way forward. As the started across the route - being a pretty straightforward and simple walk from what she could see - Kanon glanced around into the tall grass on either side of the route every so often. There were Pokemon to be caught around here, and while Kanon had every bit of faith in Bubbles, she knew that just one Pokemon wouldn't do her any good if she wanted to be a trainer.

Which, granted, wasn't her main goal in life to begin with. But battling was a fine way to learn about different pokemon in its own way, right? Kanon definitely wanted to catch something. "Keep your eyes open," she said, casting a quick glance at Nomi in particular. "We should each probably try to catch at least one Pokemon before we leave this place. Over here might be a good spot." With that, Kanon promptly turned in her path, veering off the road of Route 101 and into the tall grass.

Naomi's companions made some very good points. It was unfortunate that they went right over Naomi's head. "Why's the grass s'tall?" She marveled, looking around at the grass which almost came up to her neck. She was wandering down the pathway when she almost got bowled over by a young boy in shorts and wearing a hat, similar to Zoe, who came running out of the grass.

He pointed at Naomi. "You look like an easy win for my newly caught Pokemon!" he declared. The boy sent out his Pokemon, a Starly, indicating the start of a battle.

Naomi looked confused. "Whatcha doin?" She asked innocently, giving the young boy pause.

"Uh...we're...we're battling! That's what trainers do!....You're supposed to send yours out, now." He explained.

"Ohhh." Naomi said, nodding. It took her a bit of time to get out her Pokeball, especially with her having paused to grab a marshmallow, but when she did she tossed the ball out. "Okay! Go Princess!" She sent out the Rhyhorn.

And it was then that the Youngster knew.

He had made a horrible mistake.

[spoiler=OOC]Feel free to continue on, Naomi's battle will be a little Stomp but it will take some time and it'll be obvious that it's mostly the matchup that carried her through. Don't forget you don't have to wait for me to do things.

As they returned to the center and healed up, Genny had kept her eyes on Ivan constantly. She had done her best to make it less than apparent, enough so that she was sure Jacklyn wouldn't notice... But she had no doubt her stares had been caught by Ivan. He seemed a bit more streetwise than the energetic 'leader'. She considered putting on a tiny show for Ivan's sake... However, she decided he wasn't the type for it. Maybe she could cheer someone else up.

Not long after arriving at the center, Jackie had dragged the group towards the route, her words lost in the sheer exuberance she moved with. Her fist shot into the air as she began to march onto the route, earning a soft smile from Genevieve.

"Ah, maybe slow dow-... And she is gone. Whatever will we do with her?" Genny mused, glancing to Ivan, "I doubt the two of us could wander very far without her noticing... Perhaps it is best if we follow along?"

Taking a step forward and spinning on her heel, she put her fingers around her eye, in a sideways V, flashing a grin. "Maybe you, too, will be able to shine brightly, soon!"

As the group traveled, Ivan felt Genny's gaze on him. He scoffed at some point, avoiding making eye contact. Jacklyn seemed completely oblivious to both what had just happened and what was happening right behind her. He wanted to tell her off, to stop giving him those judging glares, but didn't have the spirits to do so. Plus, he'd rather just go to the Pokemon Center as soon as possible. All the more reason to ditch the group.

It didn't take them too long to find the Center. It was rather uneventful as the group quietly healed their Pokemon one by one. Ivan was nervous to see Po's reaction once he was healed. At first, it seemed upset, throwing a slight tantrum as soon as it could. However, as he watched Po give Ivan a cocky grin, he let out a sigh of relief. He was still bummed about what had happened, much like Po, but seeing his little buddy adamant to keep on going put Ivan in a better state of mind. He was just glad things didn't play out like they did with the Rockruff...

They left the Pokemon Center and grouped in front of the route. "this place is," He heard from their leader. "PERFECT! It's the greatest way to start an adventure after all. So gang, let us go. Onward!" Ivan simple shook his head, hearing Genny trying, and failing, to get Jacklyn to slow down.

"I doubt the two of us could wander very far without her noticing... Perhaps it is best if we follow along?" Ivan turned to Genny. This was the first thing she had said to him since she found him in the alley. She was right, there was no way for him to slip out without their leader noticing. Although he found it interesting that Genny was saying that... did she want to jump ship too? He watched as Genny walked forward... and saw her do a spin, doing a cutesy pose at the end of it. "Maybe you, too, will be able to shine brightly, soon!"

He could feel himself cringing at what was unfolding in front of him. He could also feel his face start to blush slightly - obviously due to second hand embarrassment for the girl! Although he couldn't help to admit that she was pulling it off...

"Eh!? W-What's that s'pose to mean!?" He barked, slightly flustered. He growled a bit, before coughing. "Whatever, let's just go so we can leave this stinkin' town!" He marched passed her, sighing a bit as he passed her. He didn't know what to make of the girls actions, but it didn't matter; all he wanted to do was to get out of town as soon as possible and, hopefully, the group.

"Why's the grass s'tall?"

"That's..." What's the point explaining to her? Kanon couldn't help but wonder if Nomi even came here to be a Trainer, or if she'd somehow absentmindedly stumbled into this whole adventure. Even the trainer that had approached her - a young boy in shorts (what was it with Korovans and shorts?) - seemed baffled for a moment at her sheer obliviousness to everything around her. However, the two of them were soon engaged in a battle all their own. The youngster's Starly versus Nomi's Rhyhorn.

Kanon was no pokemon professor, but she knew one thing for certain. That Starly had been put into a super-unlucky fight. There was no way Nomi could lose that one... right?

Kanon didn't pay much attention to the battle. Especially not when, from deeper within the grass, she heard a distinct barking noise. A wild Pokemon! Whatever it was, it had her attention now. She looked through the grass, following the sound as best she could. After a bit of searching, she found the source. A wild Rockruff!

It's so cute! Kanon thought to herself, nearly exclaiming it aloud. She wanted it. She wanted to catch it and raise it, and train it well. Kanon reached into her bag, procuring an empty pokeball, then threw it at the Rockruff. The wild pokemon, being in such good health, dodged the tossed ball easily. Kanon watched as the pokeball soared past its target, into the vast unknown abyss of grass and other wild pokemon. Right. You're supposed to hurt them first. Sorry, little guy.

"Go, Bubbles!" Kanon threw forth the one pokeball she had that actually had something in it, sending her trusty Poliwag out to wear down this Rockruff. The two Pokemon stared each other down intensely...

Try not to get too hurt, Bubbles.

Jacklyn had continued to skip, skip, skip to her lou, moving down the route as she did. Having never left her home before now and the major port of Unova being in Castellia City, the girl hadn't ever actually been out in the wilderness before. So, with the fresh air being new to her and the rather plain road they were on being completely different then what she was used to, the bubbly girl kept a grin on her face as she continued to hum to herself. It wasn't long, however, before a noise caught her attention causing the girl's merry skipping to come to an abrupt halt. Looking towards the source of the noise, the girl began to move towards it, not really paying any mind to her surroundings. Walking further into the tall grass, the girl hopped back, letting out a surprised, "hawaahhh!" What she had found, as well, hopped back in similar surprise, eyeing the girl with similar curiosity, albeit with a bit of caution behind it.

"Oh my god," the girl muttered to herself, looking at the pokemon before her. "You're so adorable!" Shouting this at them, the Bunneary took a step back, unsure of what to make of the girl as she seemed to grow more excited. As she looked at the pokemon, she paused before saying, "wait, Big Sis had a Bunneary. And she's like a pokemon master! So that must mean Bunneary must be super strong! You will be mine you cotton eared Leporidae!" Taking out a pokeball she emphatically shouted, "Hiyah!" practically spiking the ball the pokemon. The Bunneary seemed to be a bit taken aback by this, as the ball had actually just missed it by a foot. A pensive look across her face appeared, the girl saying, "crafty one aren't you? Well, I know just how to catch a crafty one like you! Rus!" The girl sent her pokemon out, the Lepash yawning as it stretched itself out. "Come on Rus! We got ourselves a Bunneary to catch!" The Lepash looked back to the girl, unsure of what to make of her statement, but understood that there was a battle about to be happening. Getting its game face on, the fire pokemon turned towards the wild Bunneary, who was clearly now more guarded in posture, looking to get the fight on the road.

Oswald could only sigh as Naomi had, once again, seemed to ignore his advice. Instead, as she was marveling at the grass, Oswald walked over to her and said, "it's because there's no one who comes out to cut it." It wasn't shortly after this that a newcomer had come to challenge the girl. Oswald examined the new person curiously, unsure of why his outfit was so strangely similar to Zoe's. Whether it was an ongoing fashion craze or potential child gang circle, only time would tell. While the young detective was keen on learning more about pokemon battles from first hand experience, he already knew what Naomi's pokemon was, and knew that it wasn't going to be much of a challenge between the two. Instead, his attention was pulled towards his other partner, Kanon.

Seeing the girl finding a wild pokemon, he became instantly intrigued, knowing that he needed to still study how trainers went about catching wild pokemon. Taking out a notebook, the boy began to examine carefully each action taken, such as the Rockruff deftly avoiding the girl's first pokeball. As she sent out her own pokemon, he watched curiously to see how things would go from here.

Naomi's thoughts drifted as Princess used Horn Attack on the foe's Starly. Oswald said no one cut the grass. Did people in the city have to cut the grass everyday to keep it from growing this high? What would happen if the grass cutters slept for the day? It seems like a lot of work...

"Whoa you must be some kind of genius!" The Youngster's words brought her back to the present time and place. She glanced over and saw Princess standing over the boy's unconscious Starly.

"Oh, good job Princess!" Naomi said and headed over to the Pokemon. She fell against the Rhyhorn's side and began petting her head. "Good girl. Good girl, good...girl....z-zzzzz...." Feeling comfortable, Naomi briefly fell asleep as she stood against the Rock Pokemon.

It wasn't until the Youngster nervously woke her up to give her prize money that she woke back up. As she did she accepted the Pokedollars without really realizing what was going on.

She waved at the boy as he returned his Pokemon and ran off to heal.

"N'where's the others..." Naomi stumbled her way towards the sounds of fighting and saw Kanon trying to catch a Rockruff. "Aww s'cute pup." Naomi said, standing close next to Oswald. "Watcha doin?" She asked, leaning against him as she tried to read what he was writing down.

Kanon stared down the Rockruff from behind her own Poliwag. This was going to be easy, right? She'd beaten a trainer first thing upon setting foot on Korovan soil (not that she was particularly eager to fight that girl in the first place), so a wild Pokemon was sure to be a piece of cake. She didn't even have to take it out or anything; just wear it down some so that her next pokeball wouldn't miss its mark.

"Hit it with Bubble!" Kanon exclaimed, and Bubbles obliged, spitting out a small stream of bubbles at the Rockruff. Even if they were just bubbles, these were a Pokemon's bubbles, that they spat out for fighting. They hurt a bit, and for the Rockruff, they seemed to hurt a lot. The small canine let out a yelp, before running forward to retaliate, jumping forth and trying to plow over Bubbles with its body. It seemed to hurt the Poliwag a bit, but he seemed otherwise fine.

Let's not hit it again. I don't want to hurt this little guy any more than I have to. Kanon reached into her bag, and procured a second pokeball. She threw it, and the Rockruff - despite its efforts to move out of the way - couldn't quite evade Kanon's second shot. The ball closed, containing the Rockruff, as it fell to the ground.

The pokeball wiggled once.

It wiggled a second time.

...

...success! The pokeball let out a distinct clicking sound, and stopped wiggling, now containing a new addition to Kanon's party! He's still injured though, and I forgot to buy the potions people use to heal their pokemon. Maybe food will have the same effect? Hopefully we end up camping out for the night so I can test that. For now, it was probably best to keep the Rockruff in its pokeball.

Come to think of it, what should I name him?

The stare down between Jacklyn, Rus and the Buneary continued. The fire bunny seemed to be content with standing there, glaring at the pokemon, while Buneary seemed keen to look for an opportunity to run. Jacklyn, however, seemed to be waiting as well. Merely watching the two, until a sudden look of realization hit her. "Right. Right. I need to tell you what to do here don't I?" The girl looked to her Lepash, who seemed to have an expression of disbelief towards his trainer as it looked back at her. She wasn't quite sure what the look was for, figuring that when it came to wild pokemon, the two would just battle it out themselves, but said, "alright Rus go and use pound!" The Lepash let out a sigh as its head hung down. "Scratch?" It shook its head. "Uuhhhhh-" the girl clapped her hands in realization. "Tackle! Use Tackle!"

The Buneary seemed more curious by the antics of the pokemon and its trainer then anything else, and continued to watch their exchange. However, as the Lepash began to charge at the Buneary, it quickly changed pace, leaping to the side to avoid the attack. As Rus had missed, Jacklyn called out once again, "Tackle!" The Buneary continued to try and leap away, each time trying to use the tall grass around as cover to dodge the attacks. And each time it missed, the trainer merely called out for another tackle. As the Buneary had leaped away once more, seeming to get in a rhythm of dodging the attacks the girl said, "oh forget it! Burn that bunny Rus, Ember!" The buneary was entirely caught off guard as the Lepash let out a breath of sparks at it, being struck by the small flames and stumbling back. With the hit landing true, Jacklyn called out for another Tackle, which Rus happily did, slamming into the Buneary. As the normal bunny pokemon seemed to run short on breath, Jacklyn remembered that pokemon had to be not unconscious...from getting hit a lot, in order to be captured. And so, winding up her arm, she shouted, "you will be mine adorable bunny creature!" With a toss that flew more true than before, the ball hit the Buneary, drawing the pokemon inside of it as it began the capture process.

1 Shake.

2 Shake.

3 Shake.

Click.

With the noise confirming her capture complete. The girl picked up the ball, tossing it up and down in the air, "woooo! We did it Rus, we did it!" The Lepash seemed to let out a sigh as the battle came to its conclusion, nudging Jacklyn. "Oh right, you're probably tired now, so here you go." Returning the pokemon back to its ball, giving it a rest for now, the girl then immediately sent out her new pokemon. With that done, the girl seemed to be even more overjoyed than she had been before. As she pocketed the ball, she then realized something. "Wait, where did everyone go?" Not realizing that she had skipped away from everyone else yet, the girl had been split off from her other two party members. Thankfully, the land was flat and mostly featureless, so finding them was not at all difficult. Running towards them, waving the freshly used pokeball in her hand she seemed to still be bounding with energy as she said, "guys, guys, guys look! I caught a pokemon! And it's adorable!"

Oswald watched as Kanon sent out her first pokeball, taking down notes about the failure. As he continued to watch the rest of battle unfold, he felt a familiar wait press against him. Clearing his throat a bit as he looked to Naomi, now slumped against his side, he said, "well, if you must know. I am taking notes on the capture attempt before us. After all, knowing is half the battle, and I plan to win most." Looking over, he saw that the Rockruff had disappeared, with Kanon carrying a pokeball in hand now. "Blast it all," he muttered. Closing his notebook, the boy tried to push Naomi to stand upright again, clearing his throat again before saying, "well, it would appear we have a new member on our team, right? Good job on the catch Kanon. Oh, and I suppose good job on the victory as well Naomi."

Naomi blinked at Oswald without fully understanding. "Whats'portant bout winnin anyway?" She didn't understand the big deal. If they won they won if they lost they lost. Simple stuff really.

It took some effort to push her off, almost like moving a sack of potatoes, but as she was upright again she began to sway a bit from side to side, humming a tune as Oswald told them both good job.

"Wasn't me, was Princess." Naomi said, patting the Pokeball at her side. "She's the one who should be praised." Naomi flashed them a dopey smile before turning on her heel and promptly stumbling to the side. "Whoa...hehe..." She muttered as she righted herself. "S'time to go?" She asked back at the pair.

[spoiler=OOC]Okay Team NOK....It takes a couple days to reach the next city. So if you guys want to do more on the route like battling and interacting go for it. If you want to set camp up and do night stuff that's fine too. Alternatively we can skip past that and head straight for the next city. As long as you all agree its fine.

Same for Team JIG tbh

Also Bubbles grew a level after that successful capture.

Genny smiled and stifled a giggle as Ivan acted flustered, considering it was about the last reaction she expected out of him. She grabbed Etoile's Luxury Ball and tossed it into the air, releasing the sea lion pup for the first time on the road.

As the baby landed, she would her Genevieve begin to vocalize softly, walking past her. With a nod, Etoile created a bubble around herself, then used Aqua Ring on the bubble itself. As Genny snapped twice, the Popplio sped forward in front of Ivan, forcing him to stop in his tracks to watch her. Popping out of the top of the bubble, Etoile landed with her snout balancing on the round ball of water, clapping her paws with a happy bwark. However, when the Aqua Ring moved around and moved past her nose, she lost control and fell, causing the ring and bubble to splash all over Ivan and the surrounding path.

"Ah, Etoile!" Genny rushed forward, scooping the now whimpering Pokemon up, the Popplio's pride bruised a litte, "I must apologize, Ivan! Etoile is still a baby, you see, and she still makes mistakes... M-Maybe I could buy you some new clothes in the next town to make up for it?"

As Jacklyn came running from further ahead, Genny breathed a sigh of relief, glad to be free of being alone with Ivan after that blunder. While she said Etoile was a baby, she feared that she had simply failed in preparing the young pokemon...

"Oh, a Laporeille... Ah! That is, to say, a Buneary. It is adorable indeed, Jacklyn." She smiled somewhat nervously, "And it grows into quite the beautiful Pokemon! Do you have an interest in contests, Jackie?"

Ivan shook his head as he continued onward, only to be stopped by a Popplio. "Hey! Get out of the..." He sighed, remembering who's Popplio this is. He turned to Genny and shook his head, before returning his gaze to the Popplio, who had already started doing tricks with its water moves. "Well, it'll probably be quicker to watch this than try and argue." He muttered to himself as the show unfolded in front of him. And a show it was, watching the Popplio play with the water as if it were a ball like they did in the circus. It was mildly amusing, Ivan had to admit.

He was about to commend the duo, when suddenly the Aqua Ring got out of control. There wasn't much Ivan could do in the short amount of time it took the ring to explode all over the bottom half of his jacket. His eyes flared up, getting ready to kick the damn Pokemon that dared to sully his jacket. And then he stopped, taking a deep breath. "It was an accident." He thought to himself. "You're turning a new leaf." He repeated the last half of that to himself over and over as Genny came over.

"I must apologize, Ivan! Etoile is still a baby, you see, and she still makes mistakes... M-Maybe I could buy you some new clothes in the next town to make up for it?" He repeated his words faster now, holding back temptations to do something he would regret. He clenched his fists and grit his teeth as he took a moment.

"It's the least you can do." He said, voice strained and clearly trying to hold back a flurry of rage. His eyes were full of fury as they glared as Genny. He'd have to put leaving the group for the moment - at least not until this clown paid him back. Sighing heavily, he took off the jacket, before tossing it on top of his shoulders. He started walking forwards again as soon as he saw Jacklyn start coming back. Apparently, she had caught something - another bunny Pokemon.

He stopped, reaching into his bag and pulling out a Pokeball. Holding it in front of him, he summoned the small panda that resided in it. The Pancham took in its environment, before turning to Ivan and giving him a quizzical look. Po pointed to the jacket that was now hanging on his shoulders, which caused Ivan's eye to twitch. "Don't worry about it." He barked, before shaking his head. "Right now we've got some training to do." The Pancham shrugged, before turning to face the wild grass. Ivan turned to the others. "Y'all coming or what?"

"Well, it would appear we have a new member on our team, right? Good job on the catch Kanon. Oh, and I suppose good job on the victory as well Naomi."

"Good job winning your battle," Kanon repeated, adding a "Both of you" at the end after Nomi insisted Princess deserved the praise. She sounded considerably less enthusiastic about the whole thing than Oswald did. Still, the more she thought about it, was Nomi a good person? She didn't hesitate to claim Princess won her the fight. Giving her Pokemon the due credit like that so openly was a good sign, if nothing else. It didn't make Nomi any less of a tragically lazy girl, though.

"S'time to go?"

"Yes, it's time to go." With that, new partner in tow, Kanon continued to lead the way along Route 101.

After a long day of heading down the route, encountering numerous wild Pokemon that Kanon wasn't interested in catching, and a few close calls of somebody in the group suddenly getting pulled into a trainer battle - seriously, did trainers just not have any manners or something? - night had fallen over the Korova Region. It was time to set up camp, and Kanon was there to help. It was then that she remembered she'd only bought one tent, meant to be big enough to hold all three team members, to save a bit of money.

In retrospect, I might have made a huge mistake.

But the tent was already set up. Oswald helped. Nomi... well, she was Nomi. Getting the camp set up was worth it though. After a long day, Kanon was able to lie back in the grass around her, and look up at the starry sky above. She didn't get that opportunity very often in her area of Hoenn. Kanon reached into her pocket, and pulled out the two Pokeballs that had her two partners in them, releasing a Poliwag and a Rockruff into the campsite her team had set up. The former seemed content to plop itself down atop Kanon's chest, while her newer teammate seemed happier darting about the campsite. Kanon didn't blame him; he probably had a ton of energy to blow off after all that time spent cooped up in a little ball.

"Say, Oswald," Kanon called out. "Why am I the only one who caught a Pokemon? Nomi not catching one is one thing, but are you just not confident enough that you can do it or something?"

Jacklyn nodded as Genny commented on the pokemon she had caught, but looked a bit pensive as she was asked about contests. "Hmmm, we don't really have them at home, and I always thought that going out on adventures would be way more fun. So not really, no." The girl shook her head. It was then that Ivan mentioned something about going to train, and as he asked for the others to follow, Jacklyn expression lit up again saying, "right! We gotta go training! After all," she started rubbing the pokeball that contained her new Buneary against her face saying, "I gotta make my new cuddly wuddly Buneary as strong as my other bunny." Stopping, with a shocked look of realization on her face she followed with, "wait. I need to give her a name too!" Her face became a bit more pensive as she tried to think of a name for her pokemon, before beginning to follow behind Ivan. Looking behind she said, "oh yeah, do you like contests Genny?"

Adjusting his tie, Oswald looked to Naomi as he said,"because, it's always better to be the winner." Not wanting to continue that line of conversation any further, the boy nodded as Kanon had suggested they find a place to camp. Once they had found a spot, the young boy helped out his traveling companions, or companion as it might have been, in setting up their tent for the night. Letting Archie out their pokeball, to both let him move about freely and to keep vigil over the area while they set up, the process didn't last all that long. Eventually, Kanon had called out to him, and as the boy walked over to her, he said, "I'm merely in the process of getting information before I jump head first into it. Besides, our pokemon are like partners, and," he looked over as Archie had come over to his side. "I have a partner that's more than capable." He pet the mareep's head as he said so. "As such, I feel no urgency to get a new one. How about you Kanon, why are you so eager to catch a pokemon right now?"

Naomi wasn't so sure of Oswald's answer but as the boy changed topics right after Naomi didn't feel like pressing it. She just stretched, yawned, and nodded along with whatever it was they had decided to do.

----

She was absolutely useless at setting up the camp. She simply rested her head against Princess's side as the Rhyhorn lay down in the campsite. The others seemed more than capable and she watched the fire with fascination.

So that was a campfire...She had seen them in books before but had never actually witnessed one in person. It was...warm. And oddly colorful. She felt a bit mesmerized by the flickering flames and started to nod off.

The other two were talking among themselves and Naomi listened in without really paying attention to what they were saying.

A thought came to her mind and, with titanic effort, she sat herself up. "Oof." She let out a small noise as she ruffled through her supplies. She pulled out one of her bags of marshmallows and held it up towards the other two. "Eh? Eeeh?" She said, wiggling the bag and smiling almost proudly at them.

[spoiler=OOC]Remember to keep it up. No need to wait unless there's a specific thing you need responded to. And feel free to do some NPC battles against regular trainers if you want. Talk among yourselves to figure out how far you guys want to go and such.

"Hmmm, we don't really have them at home, and I always thought that going out on adventures would be way more fun. So not really, no."

"I see..." Genny said a bit dejectedly, upset that her distraction had failed. She already figured that neither Ivan nor Jacklyn would care about contests, but it still stung a bit to hear it. As the other two ran ahead for training, Genny chose to simply follow along. "I believe I am good... I know that if a trainer sees my eyes I must battle them, but... This type of training is not what mon papillon needs."

"wait. I need to give her a name too!" The blonde stopped as Jacklyn proclaimed this need, watching her scrunch her face up. She began to offer a name, only to be cut off by a new question. "oh yeah, do you like contests Genny?"

"Ah, why yes, I do!" Genevieve lit up, "In fact, I am... how you say... a contest star?"

Tossing Etoile into the air and doing a small twirl, Genny posed dramatically, with Etoile landing on her hind-flippers, atop Genny's head.

"I travelled to Hoenn and won many contests! While I am not quite Lisia... I am still quite the name in Hoenn. I even have a gorgeous dress for my darling Pokemon here. which she is all too excited to see me in..."

Genny reached up and pulled Etoile down, nuzzling her nose to its, "Aren't you, mon papillon?"

He overheard Jacklyn talking to Genny, rolling his eyes at the mention of contest - he wasn't sure what exactly it was, but it sounded almost as dumb as the island trials. Genny mentioned that she wasn't going to be doing any training herself, which was fine by him; he would of preferred to train alone, but Jacklyn wanted to train and it wasn't like he could just leave the group. Not until Genny paid up.

As they walked, he heard the girls continue talking about contests. He tuned them out, searching for any potential Pokemon to train up Po with. While he was walking forward, a rather angry looking rat jumped in front of Ivan and Po. It's purple fur shimmered as it let out the mightiest roar a Rattata could, which was more adorable than intimidating. "Go, Po! Tackle it to the ground!" The panda nodded, charging at the rat. However, before the panda could get far, the Rattata swiftly darted towards it, attacking Po quickly. "Po!" Ivan shouted as the panda took the blow, sliding backwards. However, the Pancham quickly retaliated with its original attack, slamming into the rat.

The Rattata slid back from the attack, looking rather hurt already. While not weak by any means, it simply could not compete with the power that the panda had. Still, the Rattata would be damned if it was about to give up. The rat glared at the panda, waggling its tail back and forth. "Attack!" Ivan shouted. Po was confused as to what the Rattata was doing, lowering its guard. It shrugged, however, as it slammed its body onto the rat again. Again, the rat was sent backwards, but quickly dashed forward again, slamming onto the panda.

This time, the panda was sent flying further back than it was before, the attack having hurt more than it did last time. "Po! Tackle!" Ivan shouted, a hint of worry in his voice. Was he really going to lose to a wild Pokemon? Luckily, that wasn't going to be the case, as the panda slammed its shoulder onto the rat, who was way too close to brace for impact, let alone dodge it. With one final tackle, the rat was sent flying backwards, bouncing off of the ground before landing with a thud. This time, it didn't recover from the attack.

"Yes!" Ivan shouted, pumping his fist in the air. It wasn't a trainer fight, but it was still a victory.
