Bad Writing (Archetype)

Probably the only archetype to ever be in Joke and OP.

Bad Writing is a purposely overpowered archetype of Normal Traps that are designed to keep Mary Sue on top. They were created by the sheer recurrence of tropes found in bad fan fiction (and to a lesser degree, original fics).

Bad Writing - Cliche Storm

Counter Trap

When this card is activated, reveal 1 "Bad Writing" Trap in your Side Deck. This card's name becomes that card's name, and replace this card's effects with that card's original effects.

Oh God, save us all. One card in, and already we're transcending (the Sue term for breaking) the very rules of the game themselves. It gives you easy access to all the other cards, and at no cost to you or your Deck size.

Bad Writing - Unethical Activities

Trap
Declare 1 original card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap): Reveal all face-down cards your opponent controls, then destroy all cards of the declared type your opponent controls, including the ones revealed by this effect, and for the next 3 turns, your opponent cannot activate, Summon, or Set cards of that type, also the effects of all cards they control with that type are negated for those 3 turns.

It's symbolic of what smutfics sacrifice in terms of plot, logic, and story for the author's ship. A running gag is that this card always gets negated.

Bad Writing - Gore Overdrive

Trap

Negate the effects of all other face-up cards on the field: Destroy all other cards on the field, then inflict 500 damage to your opponent for every card destroyed. Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to this card's activation, resolution, or effect.

Symbolic of BLOOD AND GORE AND DEEEEEATH being overdone in bad pastas in an attempt to be scary. Also, your opponent's screwed if you play this.

Bad Writing - Mary Sue

Trap

Special Summon 1 monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, ignoring its Summoning conditions, but its ATK and DEF become 5000, also it is unaffected by your opponent's card effects.

No explanation required, other than you're screwed, mate.

Bad Writing - Twu Wuv

Trap

At the start of the Battle Phase, target 1 monster you control and 1 monster your opponent controls of the same Type: The turn player's monster changes to Attack Position and must attack the other monster, if able, but neither monster is destroyed by battle and battle damage becomes 0, also banish both monsters after damage calculation and inflict damage to your opponent equal to their combined ATK.

"And wuv, twu wuv, will fowwow you foweva..."

Quotes aside, this is most romancefics. Two people fall in love at first sight, then immediately live happily ever after. Bonus points if one ends up pregnant even if they're both male.

Bad Writing - Deus Ex Machina

Counter Trap

When you would take damage: You do not take that damage, also your opponent loses LP equal to five times the damage you would have taken.

"But then the sign on her arm glowed, and she was rescued by the power of" DEUS EX MACHINA!

Bad Writing - Unexplained Appearance

Trap

Fusion Summon 1 Fusion monster from your Extra Deck, by using monsters from your hand, Extra Deck, field, and Deck as Fusion Materials.

Represents Sues who just jump in and claim to be a canon's long-lost sibling or lover or parent or cousin. Bonus points if they are there at the start of the story. Also, this card isn't so bad, until you realize the demon that can be called with this...

Bad Writing - Non-Con Love

Trap

Target 1 monster you control and 1 monster your opponent controls: Take control of the second target, until you no longer control the first target, but the first target cannot be destroyed once per turn.

Yandere kidnap fics, "Non-con" fics, basically anything where one person is kidnapped by someone who """""""loves""""""" them, then develops Stockholm Syndrome even though the dom has done horrible things/forced them to do horrible things. It's not love so much as lust and Suvian mind control.

Bad Writing - Edgyedgelord

Trap

Double the original ATK of all monsters you currently control.

Look at me! I'm so EDGY!

Bad Writing - Shoehorned Morality

Trap

The ATK of all monsters you control becomes 4000, and the ATK of all monsters your opponent controls become 0. These changes last until the End Phase.

Bad Writing - Contrived Coincidence

Trap Card

Add 2 cards from your Deck to your hand.

Bad Writing - Work of Parody

Counter-Trap

When your opponent activates a Trap: Discard 1 card, unless the activated Trap is a "Bad Writing" Trap; Negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it, then if it is a "Bad Writing" Trap, you can Set it to your side of the field. If this card is destroyed and sent to the GY: You can Set it.

Gamer, the Fanfiction Administrator

Level 10/FIRE

Warrior/Effect

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned from your hand by having 1 "Bad Writing" Trap in your GY, and at least 2 cards above it in the GY. When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 monster you control with 3000 or less original ATK: Halve its original ATK, and if you do, this card gains the lost original ATK. When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 "Bad Writing" Trap in your GY; Set it. Once per turn: You can pay 800 LP; Set 1 "Bad Writing" Trap from your Deck or GY, but banish it when it leaves the field.

3000/3000

Anyway, what do you guys think? Are they broken enough, or should I make them even more broken?

Deus ex is a kinda bad card, and is usually a brick in most situations. Even when it can be activated, magic cylinder and dimensional wall do arguably the same thing, except for the damage. They're better because you don't have to rely on almost losing to activate them, but they're still pretty terrible cards...

Cliche storm lets you pick one of the other cards and activate them, and it's naturally very good, for the same reason searchers are very good.

Unethical is just the world's best virus card, bar none.

Gore overdrive is judgement dragon with burn in trap form.

Mary sue is a good card, and makes shapesnatch turbo a lot more viable.

Bad Writing - Gibberish is a double ring of destruction that also brings up a bunch of ruling questions.

Unexplained is arguably the best card here, because its ability to summon zarc lets it outclass gore, and its ability to summon chaos ancient gear outclasses mary sue. I also really like fusion monsters.

Non-Con - Turns a card into big eye. Since 1 card big eyes do exist, this one's not that great.
