The game's been out on Steam Early Access for awhile but it only caught my eye recently. I don't usually buy early access titles but this one comes greatly recommended and it's a ton of fun from what I've played of it. There've been weekly patches with bugfixes, balance changes, and new content, and I'm excited to see what all cool stuff they'll add in the future.

I bring this game up every week and say it's GOTYable, and it's super popular on youtube, where have you been?

Also, it's really really good, there's so many cool ways to build your character/deck, ascension mode(recently added) lets you take your skillcap to crazy levels, etc.

I haven't beaten the Time Eater yet, even though I got all the unlockables, hoping to soon so I can try ascension mode.

Sorry I didn't notice your old thread on it, my bad.

Yeah, Time Eater's hard. I've only run into it once but it was with Silent where my deck was all about playing tons of cards so he was pretty much a hard counter. I imagine he's probably easier with Ironclad. He's the last Act 3 boss I need to beat.

Same, actually. Got a deck that was 3x infinite blades power with finishers as the big damage dealers, didn't really stand a chance.

Also I unlocked ascension mode and the first run I did as the silent I got this crazy poison deck with FOUR catalysts, 3 of them upgraded, 2 Bursts, 2 envenoms, and Bottled Lightning + Bullet time with a 9 card opening hand, I would open with playing my whole 9 card hand, then I was just putting a tiny bit of poison on enemies with envenom or burst + bouncing flask and it would get multiplied to 150 poison per turn with just one or two catalysts:

Had a run with what is probably my favorite deck, an Ironclad deck all about Powers (I got Mummified Hand early) and tanking up. Stuff like Barricade, Juggernaut, and lots of armor cards. There were also a couple of those Limit Break cards so I could spike my Strength while hiding behind all the armor. It was a slow and steady deck, but by the 2nd floor I could face most battles without losing health. Unfortunately because it was a slow deck, when I ran into an Elite that is two of those orb-looking guys that gain 3 strength every turn and put Burn cards in your deck, I got unlucky a couple turns in a row and got two hands almost entirely made of them and I lost. :(

EDIT: Got the same deck again but waaay better. My starting boon was a random rare card and I got Barricade immediately. I got an early Frozen Egg so all my Powers were upgraded, as well as a Bottled Tornado to guarantee Barricade was in my starting hand every fight. By the end I had Barricade, Juggernaut, Demon Form, and 4 Metallicizes. Didn't even have any Body Slams but I still managed. Getting a Black Star partway through was nice, too. I had a single Feed and by the end of the run I had over 130 health, I was building it up along with the armor. Even guys like Nemesis and Time Eater were no match.

  • 3 weeks later...

Picked this game up a couple weeks ago, I've logged fortyish hours into it so far. Holy crap, I'm obsessed with it. I've now gotten all the unlocks with the Silent and the Ironclad, and I'm excited for the third character to be revealed, cause I'm really curious what kind of theme they're going to roll with.

Both sides have debuffs, so I don't see a dedicated debuff class being a thing, but it's totally possible that they might come up with something like that. I'm just really excited for the future of the game, cause I have a ton of fun with it.

Blazed through Ascension 4 with my first Ironclad deck that went with the whole Exhaust thing, I haven't really gotten the relics to want to go for it before. Dead Branch + Charon's Ashes are hilarious with Fiend Fire, and I also had a couple good energy relics like the one that gives me Wounds. It was also partly a big hitter deck having two Bludgeons (I got the first one as my free rare card at the beginning which was nice) and a lot of Perfected Strikes. I also didn't realize upgraded True Grit let you pick the card you exhaust, that's a much better card than I originally thought.

EDIT: Ascension 5 was even easier.

My beginning blessing was a random rare card and I was given Fiend Fire so I figured I'd try and do an exhaust deck. When I got the Du-Vu Doll I figure I'd collect curses since I would plan on exhausing them. The Gambling Chip was nice early on since I could discard any curses in my opening hand until I got the Calling Bell which I instantly took, and luckily one of the relics it gave me was the Blue Candle. The very next relic I got was the Dead Branch so that was even luckier since I could then exhaust all my relics and instantly replace them with something. One event I got was the Duplicator and I even duplicated a Writhe. By the 3rd floor I was starting off every fight with 8 strength which was great for cards like Pummel and Sword Boomerang as well as the Bag of Marbles. I had 145 health by the end because of the Singing Bowl (which was fun that I got it right before I got the Orrery) and Feed (which TIL is affected by Magic Flower since when you gain the 4 max health you're also healed for 4 to accomodate it, which was increased to 6 and combined with the 9 healing from Burning Blood I was never in any danger for most of my run) and Exhume allowed me to play more than one a fight, in addition to any I gained randomly from Dead Branch. It was honestly a really easy run and probably my most fun so far, I'm just sad I couldn't get hold of more curses.
