Monster Slots

Target 1 face-up monster you control and 1 monster in your Graveyard with the same Level, banish the target from the Graveyard, then draw 1 card and reveal it, then if the card you drew is a monster with the same Level as the monster on the field, Special Summon it.

So I realized I own a copy of this card as I was digging through my junk earlier and I kinda had a thought of using it in Zombies.  They run a lot of 4s: Mezuki, Gozuki, Shiranuis, *Uni-Zombie... Graving 1 and having another doesn't seem like it would be particularly tough.  At worst, you basically Upstart, but at best this can extend your plays quite a bit more.  It wouldn't likely be dead at any time, except maybe with a really bricky T1 hand.

All that said, I generally run Zombies "pure", but I've gotta ask, does this have potential usage in Zombiesworn variants too?

Any other Decks that can run this pretty consistently?  I'm thinking that with Links, it would be easier to put a specific level monster in the Grave for this to be live earlier.

something like metaphys can use it. also most decks that don't play around with their graveyards won't mind it, like gears, FA, blue eyes (Don't hit the stone though) ect. basically, he criteria is decks with monters of the same level, that doesn't need them, or can easily retrieve them, when they hit grave/banished.

yes but it becomes Level 4 on the field

Right, forgot the card required one on the field. So I guess that slots is just being used for the draw, not the special summon?

That one level 4 vendread and goblin zombie are about the only other 2 zombie level 4 monsters that could come up too. But is goblin zombie even played anymore?

the special summon is icing on the cake, if you get it, then run with it, but the draw is the main attraction.

zombie master would be another zombie worth running, as would gouki. in either case, slots is a card that you don't run if you don't have monsters all among the same, or similar levels.

come to think of it, with batteryman solar coming out soon, batteries might actually now have a decent draw card on their hands.

I vaguely recall someone using this in a Machina Gadget deck. Lots of Level 4s to summon and Machina Fortress helps get them in the Graveyard.

I was just thinking this. Solar sets it up perfectly, and you've got loads of good Level 4s to draw into such as Batteryman 9volt, Ma/Pahunder, Rai-Oh and Zap Mustung for stun options, and even the good Watt monsters if you want.

Honestly this is making me wish Insects had some better engine starters. With a Level 4, Insect-Type Armageddon Knight kind of card you could send Resonance Insect and then use Monster Slots to trigger Resonance Insect's GY effect while keeping card advantage and hopefully getting a summon, which could be say a Beetron which could then summon whatever you sent to the Graveyard with Resonance Insect's effect. Also Verdant Sanctuary wants you to stick to a single Level and so does this so I'm thinking it could be pretty cool.

most cards that banish from the grave got a massive boost with links. This didn't so it makes me resent it

it's still a decent enough draw card though, why would you resent that? and it still got a small boost in the form of links making graveyard setup insanely easy. then again, if you want to use this, decks that have a stronger focus on Xyz than link summoning (like RR, gadgets, hunders, ect) are the ideal candidates, since they're more likely to have L4's both in grave and on topdeck.
