[DPR] Forecast Archetype, Summoning Natural Forces from the Side Deck?

[spoiler=Prompt]

Forecasts are Lv 2 monsters based of natural forces which live in the Side Deck and need the effect of a Forecast Spell in order to be Summoned. Each one also has a stronger Lv 7 Main Deck counterpart which can be Summoned from the hand by returning the respective Side form to the Side Deck. Those forms get shuffled during the End Phase of the next turn, triggering an effect.

This Archetype is used by Sokyoku Kosumo in the Fanfiction.

Usually the Side Deck isn't a resource during the Duel. What about using it as a place where a few monsters can stay, appear for a turn, then come back?

(Like always, not sure about the OCG)

[spoiler=Side Deck Monsters]
Forecast Light Breeze ATK 400 DEF 800 2 WIND
(Psychic/Effect) This card cannot be in the Main Deck. If this card is Summoned from the Side Deck: You can add a “Forecast” monster from your Deck to your hand. If this card would be sent to the GY: return it to the Side Deck instead.
A basic searcher. Nothing much to say here. Also, the LV 2 monsters aren't really complicated, as they're not meant to stay on the field.

Forecast Stream ATK 200 DEF 500 2 WATER
(Aqua/Effect) This card cannot be in the Main Deck. If this card is Summoned from the Side Deck: You can Special Summon a “Forecast” monster from your Side Deck, but it has its effects negated. If this card would be sent to the GY: return it to the Side Deck instead.
All Side Deck monsters have an effect when Summoned; this negates that: you have to decide if you want swarming or searching/other effects.

Forecast Lapillus ATK 800 DEF 100 2 FIRE
(Pyro/Effect) This card cannot be in the Main Deck. If this card is Summoned from the Side Deck: You can target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. If this card would be sent to the GY: return it to the Side Deck instead.
Almost free targeting and removal.

Forecast Lightning ATK 600 DEF 500 2 LIGHT
(Thunder/Effect) This card cannot be in the Main Deck. If this card is Summoned from the Side Deck: You can reveal 1 "Forecast" monster in your Side Deck; this card's name is also treated as the revealed monster's one until the end of the turn. If this card would be sent to the GY: return it to the Side Deck instead.
This effect will make more sense when you read Storm. Basically it'll have 2 names, making it gain 2 different effects.

[spoiler=Main Deck Monsters]
Forecast Cyclone ATK 2400 DEF 2800 7 WIND
(Psychic/Effect) If there’s at least 1 face-up “Forecast” Spell card on your field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by returning a “Forecast Light Breeze” from your field to your Side Deck. If it’s Summoned this way: return it to your Deck during the end of the next turn. While this card is face-up on your field, your opponent cannot activate Set Spell or Trap cards. If this card is removed from the field: You can Set a “Forecast” Spell/Trap directly from your Deck.
All LV7 monsters behave like this one. Cyclone blocks cards, and gives you a S/T search when it dies.

Forecast Tsunami ATK 3000 DEF 800 7 WATER
(Aqua/Effect) If there’s at least 1 face-up “Forecast” Spell card on your field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by returning a “Forecast Stream” from your field to your Side Deck. If it’s Summoned this way: return it to your Deck during the end of the next turn. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step, also deal piercing battle damage to the opponent. If this card is removed from the field: You can Special Summon a “Forecast” monster from your Side Deck, but it has its effects negated.
This is gonna be your beater. It's easier to Summon because of Stream, that's why it doesn't do much (except a little floating).

Forecast Volcano ATK 800 DEF 2800 7 FIRE
(Pyro/Effect) If there’s at least 1 face-up “Forecast” Spell card on your field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by returning a “Forecast Lapillus” from your field to your Side Deck. If it’s Summoned this way: return it to your Deck during the end of the next turn. While this card is on your field, each time a Level 7 “Forecast” monster is Summoned: target 1 card your opponent controls, destroy it. If this card is removed from the field: Deal damage to your opponent equal to the number of "Forecast" monsters Summoned while this card was on your field x300.
Now, this is a late game card, and is good when you start snowballing. Also a little burn to end the game.

Forecast Storm ATK 2600 DEF1800 7 LIGHT
(Thunder/Effect) If there’s at least 1 face-up “Forecast” Spell card on your field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by returning 2 "Forecast" monster with different Attributes from your field to your Side Deck. If it’s Summoned this way: return it to your Deck during the end of the next turn, also it gains the following effects depending on which monster you returned.
Forecast Stream: This card gains 200 ATK for each face-up Spell/Trap on the field.
Forecast Light Breeze: While this card is on your field, "Forecast" cards cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects. If this card is removed from the field: You can add 1 "Forecast" card from your Deck to your hand.
Forecast Lightning: Once per turn, you can discard 1 card: Target one card on the field; shuffle it into its owner's Deck.
Forecast Lapilllus: At the end of your Main Phase 1, you can target one card on the field: Destroy it, and if you do, deal damage to the opponent equal to the number of "Forecast" cards face-up on your field x400.
This needs further testing. (Also the effect of Stream is underpowered because that's the easiest way to Summon this)

[spoiler=Spells and Traps]
Forecast Night of Calamities CONTINUOUS SPELL
When this card is activated: You can add 1 “Forecast” monster from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, instead of conducting your Normal Summon: You can reveal a "Forecast" monster in your hand; Special Summon a “Forecast” monster with the same Attribute from your Side Deck in Defense Position.
All of the Spells are gonna be a little op, but consider you have no monster to NS, and without these, you brick.

Cataclysmic Forecasts NORMAL SPELL
When this card is activated: You can return 1 “Forecast” card from your hand to your Deck; add 2 “Forecast” cards from your Deck to your hand, including 1 monster and except "Cataclysmic Forecasts".
I don't know if this is too useful, like you can just use it and search what you need. Still, it's a +0, and in a really bricky Deck.

Forecast Catastrophic Planet FIELD SPELL
You can return 2 “Forecast” cards from your GY or hand to your Deck; draw 1 card. You can discard 1 card: Special Summon 1 “Forecast” monster from your Side Deck. You can only use each effect of “Forecast Catastrophic Planet” once per turn. If this card is destroyed: Special Summon a “Forecast Token” (ATK0 DEF0 Level1 DARK Fiend-Type). That Token cannot be destroyed this turn, and it’s always considered a “Forecast” Spell card.
Now this is the other way to get your LV 2 monsters on the field. The first effect might be too good, but after 2 turns you usually run out of cards (Lv 7s return to the Deck, Lv 2 to the Side Deck). The Token part is just to allow you to recover (without a Spell on the field, monsters can't be Summoned, and Traps can't be activated).

Forecast Earthquake NORMAL TRAP
You can only activate this card if there’s at least 1 face-up “Forecast” Spell card on your field. Change the Battle Position of all monsters on the field, and if you do, you can Special Summon a “Forecast” monster from your Side Deck.
Swarming Trap, also it helps surviving the Battle Phase - it has actually saved me multiple times.

Forecast Orogenesis CONTINUOUS TRAP
You can only activate this card if there’s at least 1 face-up “Forecast” Spell card on your field. All monsters on the opponent’s field cannot declare an attack. While this card is on your field, if a “Forecast” monster is returned to the Side Deck: You can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of “Forecast Orogenesis” once per turn. Destroy this card during your 3rd End Phase after its activation.
Snowballing Decks need a slow pace to build up their strategies. Also the drawing is to compensate for the slow activation.

Also, if you've noticed: Wind/Water/Fire/Light are represented by the monsters, Dark by the Spells and Earth by the Traps.

For starters, this should be in the experimental section because of the interaction with the Side Deck. Not too keen on the mechanic either because you are effectively using the Side deck as extra main deck space.

I guess an inherent disadvantage of this archetype is that you sacrifice you side deck, which mans less options for the different matchups in matches and tournaments.

Anyway, I find it as a rather complex archetype, difficult to evaluate, especially because of the use of the Side Deck as a toolbox of sorts. The Spell/Traps seem overpowering if you consider the Summon of Breeze, Stream and Lapillus will net you a +1 on Summon.

The cards themselves aren't breaking any game mechanics other than the Side Deck, which is essentially used for tournament applications (and some extent of casual stuff) and normally you switch in-between; not DURING the game.

So yeah, while you did follow everything in Advanced, I do have to move it because of the Side Deck thing. Sorry about that.

Then again, considering this is used for DPR, how are you guys managing to make it work there?

I realized this archetype is dangerous when played as techs or engine. Really, you can ditch the big monsters and just play the Field Spell, which benefits form Terraforming, Set Rotation, Fairy Dragon, etc., so you get to call Stream or Lapillus for 2 materials and a card destruction respectively. Or play a few of the maindeck monsters and Cataclysmic for searching the Field Spell and powering up your Side Deck Forecast into the Level7 of your choice.

Actually, Breeze and Cyclone would make for a handy engine on their own: Get the Field, Summon Breeze, Breeze gets Cyclone, drop Cyclone, and the float of Cyclone will get you another copy of the Field Spell as backup, or Earthquake for a power play. Not to mention the stun effect of Cyclone will let you make your follow-up plays more safely.

On the DP you can force cards to be in the Extra Deck. Basically I've treated it as a Side Deck; so the Extra Deck can now contain those 4 Side Deck monsters, and since this Deck purposely doesn't run Extra Deck monsters, and you'll actually need a maximum of 5 Side Deck monsters (considering they automatically return to the Side Deck), I think it won't be an issue to run 10 ED monsters instead of 5.

Yes. It is. But as I've said, having 5 cards just limits how many cards you run in the Side Deck.

Well, you're right, it might be too good. I think I've overpowered the cards because, well, this could brick (and it has bricked during testing). Maybe I should go for something like "You can only Special Summon "Forecast" monsters this turn", so that it works the intended way...

(Also Stream negates the effect, so it's just for swarming)

Yes, it would be for swarming. 2 Level2s makes for a Rank2, with decent to good picks in there, a Link2, or use them for Link/Synchro laddering. And since both monsters will go back into the Side Deck, you don't have to worry about dead-drawing them or otherwise compromising the deck's playability.
