battlin__boxer_crimson_clutch_by_bdscept

Warrior-Type Effect Monster/FIRE/Level 5/1950 ATK/200 DEF

Lore: If you activate the effect of a "Battlin' Boxer" monster: You can pay LP equal to that monster's DEF; Special Summon this card from your hand or GY. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned from the hand: You can make the Levels of all other "Battlin Boxer" monsters you control become either 3 or 5. If this card is sent to the GY, except by battle: You can Set 1 Counter Trap from your Deck, but it cannot be activated during the Main Phase. You can only use each effect of "Battlin' Boxer Crimson Clutch" once per turn.

battlin__boxer_cross_check_champ_by_bdsc

Warrrior-Type Xyz Effect Monster/FIRE/Rank 5/2600 ATK/1300 DEF

Lore: 2+ Level 5 Warrior monsters

If this card is Xyz Summoned: You can return cards on the field to the top of their owner's Decks in any order, equal to the number of different original Levels/Ranks among this card's Xyz Materials. Your opponent can only activate the effects of Spell/Trap Cards they control if they are in the same column as this card. Once per turn, if a card(s) in the same column as a Warrior Xyz Monster you control would be sent to the GY, you can attach those cards to that Xyz Monster as materials instead. (Quick Effect): You can detach 2 Materials from this card; negate the effects of all cards currently in this card's column, then banish this card until the Standby Phase of next turn.

(You guys realize that it's obvious who made what by the card template alone, right?)

Set A

Clutch

Hmm, least provides some added field presence. Issue being that most of the Boxers have generally good DEF (unless you chain this off another copy; well, activate this card's second effect, then summon the next one via its first one). Either that or Glassjaw (uh, I need to check if you can chain off it, since it has no DEF anyway). Honestly, I only see you using the Level 5 option, because Cheat is bleh and as much as Break Sword is good, Boxers really shouldn't be running niche cards just to get to it or the R3 pool. As much as I want to say this is overkill with 3 effects, they kinda need help to survive in the power creep. Least it gets Jolt Counter faster, so...

Cross-Check

Ohai R5 member that isn't C105. To be pretty fair, you literally need Clutch to make this card in Boxers (and to its fullest potential), otherwise the only other Deck that would even bother with this is probably U.A. if they want to use up Ace/Slugger. You do have a VERY niche option in using the Level 3s to make Cheat, and then Astral Force into this. Honestly, the most you can probably get is 1-2 on a normal basis, assuming you even bother with summoning one of the 3s first and then Clutch before Xyz Summoning this. Rest of the effects are fine: Lock the opponent to only using stuff in this card's column, Xyz gain and banishing itself to avoid MR4 stuff in the EMZ. Problem with this card: It's literally trying to do everything at once with multiple effects (there's 4 of them).

I suppose you deserve the power this card provides if you can feasibly make it, but as it stands, they shouldn't have much issue making this in conjunction with Clutch and it is questionable.

Set B

RKObra

This one is fine, considering you can likely revive the monsters you sent via Rematch and then trigger off them from the field (if you did this, assuming Rex/whatever). On-summon destruction is nice, and considering how Links work, you can shoot them down as well. Only drawbacks are it can't hit certain lower cards that play defensively, but those are another story. To be fair though, Twist Cobra already does the snake thing, but I'll let this one pass because of the limitations to portmanteaus possible with animals/wrestling moves.

Tag

Seems fine, considering all of them (sans the Links) trigger when they leave the field for the GY. Get a better Gouki for the situation, and then search something right after.

Set B gets vote here for design reasons.

While I do like set A (and still have my Boxer deck for RL purposes, albeit outdated at this point) and they can push Boxers further, I have issues with how they were executed (in the sense of "do everything in one card".

[spoiler=Card A]Not a fan of Clutch skipping over their monster's Level requirements, as I prefer simply making the cards with other Levels more playable. Don't really see the reason for Level 5, as their C is worse than its base counterpart, but you made a Rank 5 anyway, so...yeah. Not like its hard to get out, considering how many Battlin' Boxers activate their effects. Last effect though...hm. Might be interesting to be run in Counter Fairies with Drastic Drop-Off or Negate Attack...but those aren't the powerful counter traps. You would be sacrificing 3 cards of your Deck anyway, so that works out.

Even less of a fan of Champ being specifically designed to work with Clutch. That might seem stupid, and yes, it is only a flavour issue, but with the 2+ requirement, you've created a 2 card combo that renders the rest of the set obsolete. You just need the others in order to activate their effects. There's almost no other way you're getting out this bad boy anyway, let along with the different Levels. Aside from that powerful removal, the whole card itself is too much. Your opponent can at least activate their Spell/Trap Cards in other columns, but RIP Field Spells and any Continuous S/T, but regardless, you can negate any effect in any column containing this card AND bring this bad boy back to any column you want, therefore freeing up your EMZ? Battlin' Boxer isn't even written on the card's effect in any shape or form. While the former card is bad decision merely in flavour, not in power, this one does badly on both counts.

[spoiler=Card B]These two go from too generic to too archetype, but as long as they work, that's fine. RKObra continues to take advantage of the hand like the rest of the set, being willing to expand hand advantage for...disappointing, if easily activated, removal. Not really worth it imo, considering that if it IS in face-up attack position, you're probably going to battle with it anyway, and you do want to battle with it for your Gouki's effects. More searching is always fine, but I don't really see the use of this card in said archetype at the moment. Was hoping for a decently strong card for them to use, which it isn't, even if it can trigger on your Goukis on your field. You've already lose your NS at that point. Also, another Kobra? >:(

Tag has potential use in regards to speed and setting up the GY, and is thematically appropriate. Nothing amazing, usefulness is hurt by you relying on your opponent's plays, and not being able to control the timing of your tagging out, but grabbing from the Deck is much needed. Reasonable, all in all.

Not really happy with either of these tbh. Both have cards I'm okay with and cards that I find aren't that well designed, in one way or another. Vote to Card C.
