Tranquil Higher Knight

Machine/Effect

3000ATK/1900DEF

 

Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Can only be Special Summoned by banishing 2 LIGHT monsters and 1 Machine-Type monster from your GY. This card cannot be banished while it is face-up on the field. Once per turn, during either player's turn: If a LIGHT monster you control battles with an opponent's monster or if a monster you control battles a DARK monster; decrease the ATK or DEF of the opponent's monster to 0 before damage calculation. If this card is destroyed: You can banish it from your GY; Special Summon 1 LIGHT or 1 Machine-type monster from your Banished Zone (except "Tranquil Higher Knight") in Defense Position.

 

 

Hello there. I just returned to YCM and the new rules are scaring me ;( but I'll do my best. I'm only playing Duel Links right now and I have no idea about the new link monsters nor the new Link format. I created this card with my experience in Yugioh Duel links. I wanted more support for Light and machine monsters and something against those bloody Red eyes decks especially the Red eyes Zombie dragon. The effect is made to counter cards like Mirror Wall and Wall of disruption and other cards that change the position of my monsters. Enemy controller and Zero Gravity screws me every time so If I had this card on the field I could save my monsters from being destroyed at least once, giving me a chance to retaliate if I even made it through the next turn.

 

In general, I find the card to be used in many decks as long as most of the focus are Light monsters with some machine monsters. Hope you like it :)

 

EDIT: Changed it to a written card since some people couldn't see the image. It's better this way since I don't know where I got this image from, it was sitting in my pc so I couldn't credit the one who made it.

Wait for the creator to add the ATK/DEF, then you can properly review it. Not much you can do about it now.

You need to add the rest of the card (level, stats, etc) in conjunction with the effect if the image link is broken. I guess if I'm taking up a post to tell you then I have to review.

 

I apologize for the inconvenience. It seems the card image was not being shown for some reason even though I could see it so I changed it to written instead and in the process I forgot to add the ATK and DEF of the card. I sincerely apologize for that. I'm rusty as it's my first time after a long rest from YCM.

 

The card is complete now, hopefully there's nothing else missing.

Problem here is that what Decks actually want to invest in this card, given the requirements to even summon this? CyDras don't really want it, and got their own toys to play with. ABCs probably don't, even if you can get back Dragon Buster if it got banished to summon the 4K one or you banished it for this. The stat drop thing is nice, but otherwise it is on the slow end given the game right now; also, it's very specific. CyDra / Cyberdark / ABCs are the only ones that can use this card, but they got better things to be doing. While it would be nice to retrieve a monster that you banished for Overload Fusion or something, the investment to go into this card doesn't reward you enough.

 

Being banish-immune on the field is also nice, but then we have monsters that can Tribute it and place selves on the field (*cough* Kaijus). Or really, bypass any protection effects on the field.

 

IDK, you may want to take this into consideration too.

If you're designing for Duel Links, then note that a lot of the old cards that are good there are things we deem as garbage nowadays (i.e. Mirror Wall). Battle position effects aren't really common right now, especially since Links can't be changed to Defense Position anyway. A lot of the cards you mentioned in the OP aren't really good right now either. 

 

Then again, I am mentioning Link Monsters and MR4 because of how CC is structured now in light of the changes. If you did want to design for Master Rule 3 and the older game, then yeah, tag thread with LEGACY.

Suggesting a text fix:

 

Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned [from where?] by banishing 2 LIGHT monsters and 1 Machine monster from your GY. Cannot be banished while it is face-up on the field. Once per turn, If a LIGHT monster you control battles an opponent's monster, or if a monster you control battles a DARK monster, before damage calculation (Quick Effect): the ATK and DEF of the opponent's monster becomes 0. If this card is destroyed: You can banish this card from your GY; Special Summon 1 of your banished LIGHT or Machine monster in Defense Position, except "Tranquil Higher Knight".

 

Moving on to my thoughts, IMO it's an ok card, assuming it only Summons itself from the hand. It feels a lot like "maindeck bosses" the were relevant in past eras, like Black Luster Soldieri, but nowadays these kind of monsters don't really cut it anymore. Still, could be an amusing boss for decks that can afford it in more casual environments. I could;t but notice the stat drop is permanent which is relevant when facing monsters protected from battle destruction, and that the last effect doesn't target, but it should be fine IMO considering its summoning conditions. I like the little perks of being searchable by Cyber Repair Plant.

 

If it was summonable form both hand and GY, though, then I would have different thoughts, because it then becomes pseudo-searchable through milling, and milling engine/decks would have a much easier time with Summoning it, potentially repeatedly.
