Hello there, I am pretty new to this whole "Custom card making" scene.

I've decided to passionately start creating a Set based on the First Generation Pokémon games. I will be posting my creations, which will utilize the core Yu-Gi-Oh TCG mechanics, but with a certain Pokémon twist. First of all, you wil notice that I refer to monster cards as Pokémon cards. Also, the Pokémon will have "fake" typings that correspond with their types in their games. Some of them also have dual typings, which opens the way to a lot more possibilities with those cards.

The Set I am creating is based inside its own world, so it cannot be played in combination with actual Yu-Gi-Oh cards. However, I am working on the clock to balance everything out, and to make the card effects meaningful to their respective Pokémon, yet still written and conceptualized within the Yu-Gi-Oh rules and standards.

During either player's turn, if you don't control any Pokémon: You can Special Summon this Pokémon from your hand. If this card battles a Water-Type Pokémon: This card gains 400 ATK and DEF during that damage calculation only. If this card battles a Fire-Type Pokémon: This card loses 400 ATK and DEF during that damage calculation only. If you control no other Pokémon: During your Standby Phase, gain 500 Life Points.

Starter Concept: As you see, the starter Pokémon have their own card type. The basic concept of this is that Starter Pokémon can be Special Smmoned from your hand if you have no Pokémon on your side of the field. Each Starter is strong against one type, and weak against another, just like in the Pokémon games. Also, if your Starter is the only Pokémon you control, that is, if you intentionally keep it alone for a period of time, you get access to a bonus effect.
