General usergroup updates

Some of you are going to like this.

Effective March 1st, 2018 (which is technically today), there is a new general usergroup [as in ones that are reliant on post count] marked Elite Members which spans the length of the entire 5-star rank. This means that the Advanced Member group only covers up to 999 posts, as opposed to comprising everything from Levels 3 to 5 like it did in the past.

https://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/328183-a-guide-to-ycms-ranking-system

(It still follows the general pattern from here, except Advanced got split into two; nothing else has changed. Please don't confuse your user RANK / level stars with the groups.)

Basically:

0 - 149 posts = Members (correlates to Level 1 and 2 members)

150 - 999 posts = Advanced Members (correlates to Level 3 and 4 members)

1,000 - 4,999 posts = Elite Members (correlates to Level 5 members)

5,000 - 9,999 posts = Senior Members (correlates to Level 6 members)

10,000+ posts = Legendary Members (correlates to Level 7 members)

If you're in a different group than what is listed here for your post count, you have to post in an area with it enabled in order for the site to recalibrate your group. They are automatically set to "promote" you once you pass into the above thresholds.

But Sakura, why make another group?

Simple answer being that Elite Members will now be able to swear in posts without being censored by the filter (and will also be applied to Senior Members as well). Once you hit 1,000 posts, you no longer are bound by the filter. However, do take into account that if you guys abuse this privilege, you will be moved to a group that still has it enabled.

A lot of you asked for the filter to be lowered, and after some consideration, we decided that 1,000 is a just amount of posts required. Additionally, it also ties into you being eligible to participate in the Halloween masquerades for instance (as it is currently set at 1,000 posts minimum).

Also because of how the swear filter bypass feature works here, and has to be done individually for GROUPS; not for sections.

====

Those of you who've managed to hit 4-digit post count and haven't bought a custom group of your own; enjoy having the filter off.

Elite member huh? I like the sound of that!

I'm pretty close on getting 1k posts. I'm sure I'll reach it before Halloween!

Since you already have a group, this doesn't apply to you (well, you won't get automatically moved to one of the general groups). However, you will still get user stars if you chose not to get a replacement for them. In your case, you have the Xyz stars.

Then again, you'll probably hit 1000 posts by end of the month if you post a reasonable amount per day.

Yea I know. I just want the "Elite Member" title since the secondary groups are a thing now. I'm already tired of being an Advanced Member.

I do need to note that the promotion thing only works if you have the general groups as a primary group (probably need to specify that point). If it's a secondary like how yours is now, it won't automatically update and would require one of us to change it.

But yeah, get to 1K posts and you can have it changed.

It seems that despite having over a thousand posts and no group, I'm still in Advanced Members. Am I in some sort of super secret group that's preventing this from being updated to Elite automatically?

Edit: Nevermind, it updated itself when I upped my post count.

Edit 2: YOU SAID THIS and I didn't notice. Welp.

Edit 3: Apparently now the rep count thingy by messages and notifications has vanished and I have no idea if it's tied to this. Latest posts and the online mods box also seem to be missing.

Yeah, it'll update itself if you meet the requirements and post in anywhere but Misc, OOC or wherever post count is disabled.

As for the other thing, it's probably a glitch with the plugins in question on the Modern skin. I'm using the YCM Vintage one (well, 2009) and I still have the reps next to my notifications.

If it's an issue, then will need to talk to Tormey about that. (Or mention in the site update thread)

Tested in Classic and both Vintages, and I still don't have these features. I'm thinking perhaps the member group was created without those new add-ons being offered with it, which might explain why you don't have any issues but I do (and that nobody else seems to have brought it up until now; we're usually faster than that).

Anyway, tag time. @Tormented

Yeah, it's an issue with that group not being toggled as "who can view this". To be fair, this also applies to a lot of you who bought custom groups too, but weren't added. It's a simple fix though.

So...

- Rep stuff in menu bar.

- Latest posts

- Online mods

EDIT: The first two should be enabled, but last one is being looked for in the plugins. I do have access to them, but just have to find that one.

Should be fixed now.

The way this version of Invision works is that it doesn't automatically grandfather in new user groups, because of this, plugins that require specific permissions setup will leave it blank and it won't apply to said groups, meaning you don't get some of the new features, unfortunately, there isn't a workaround for this and will just need to be updated when member groups are created.

Just ping me a PM if you notice features missing for yourself and I'll take a look and see what permissions are missing.

Let me know how you get on with the permissions sorted.
