If you control a face-up Rock monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand or GY, and if you do, switch the current ATK and DEF of 1 monster on the field. If this card was Special Summon from the GY by this effect, banish it when it leaves the field. You can only Special Summon "Maraca Rocca" this way once per turn.

 

[spoiler=Wordplay]Maraca (obviously) + Rocker

Rocker was modified to spell similarly to Maraca in the last 2 letters to directly rhyme with each other. As for the words relation to one another in the name, maraca is a musical instrument you "rock" back and forth to emit the sounds.

 

 

[spoiler=Design Notes]I was just perplexed as to why there are no Rock Tuners in the game... I didn't really know
how Rock monsters would utilize their own Tuner in relation to a majority of the effects of what they
have... So I went ahead and gave it a pretty flexible effect.

I think it's fine. Nothing too abnormal or powerful. Reminds me of Caligo Claw Crow with its self-Summon, Level, and strict "once per turn" clause. Even if Crow was for DARK monsters. But I guess you can splash this into Koa'ki Meiru Rocks or Triamid for an easy destruction or two. I just kind of wish it did a bit...more. Perhaps switch ATK and DEF instead of battle position?

Card is fine considering Rocks could appreciate a bit more field presence (and Synchro help), though yeah, it still requires you to have a Rock monster out. The added stat swapping is cool too; shame that it can't screw over Links, but what can you do? Then again, Rocks aren't exactly good right now, even for casual standards, bar maybe Triamids. In their case, guess it helps for Naturia Beast plays or something (and also banish fodder for Block Dragon, so...) Then again, even if it gets banished, you got Release from Stone to retrieve it, but...you probably should be using it on stronger monsters unless you have to.

Fix aside, I like that card. Rock Tuner is welcomed by Rocks for Neddlefiber plays, and Level 2 good as it makes searchable by said Needlefiber. As Level 2 is also has potential synergy with Doki Doki for Rank2s to play around its self-banishing effect.

 

Would be neat if it also had the option of flipping a monster face-up to enable tricks with Rock Flips like Dummy Golem, also a Level2 Rock.

Yeah that and  another thing a noticed similarly about the Rock typing: they have those old school Flip back-downs (e.g. Guardian Sphinx, Medusa Worm, Golem Sentry, etc.) that Ghostricks and Subterrors kind of took the role away from ... I wasn't really sure how to accommodate all that without the card itself doing too much.

Yeah, those would be convoluted to support, since they specifically require a Flip Summon, and Flip Summoning through an effect, while possible, it would involve much more card text on top of the effects it already has.
