P.S.A. - How to tell that a post is photoshopped and fake (AKA Thank GOD this didn't happen for real)

OK, so I saw this post while searching for otherkin cringe (you all know why at this point) and I saw this. I got concerned, because if it was real, we have a mother/father ruining their son's life. For some stupid Tumblr snowflake trend. Now, it may APPEAR authentic at first, but look closely. See that grey background around the letters? Not just the actual post, but the (Post a new comment) and the username info. This is a clear sign that the post is photoshopped and we can all breath a sigh of relief that this person isn't serious. (Also, now that I think about it, the story's too ridiculous. Then again, Poe's Law...)

PSA: If a post looks this suspicious, it's photoshopped.

What you can learn from your picture is just that it is of very low quality...

The truth is :

Colours are visible when you zoom because of the LCD screen (each pixel is divided into three colours) from which the picture was captured. The coloured pixels can still be faked tho, but it requires some effort.

If there are no colours on the letters, then the screencapture isn't a mere screencapture (from a LCD screen).
