Crimson Nova Trinity the Dark Cubic Lord

Recommended Posts

This card isn't exactly meta, but all things considered it seems like a fun thing to build a turbo deck around, much like the successful rainbow neos turbo deck.

Crimson Nova Trinity the Dark Cubic Lord

Level 10 / Dark / Fiend / Fusion

4500 attack / 3000 defense

Fusion Materials: 3 x "Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord"

Must be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Materials and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be targeted, or destroyed by, your opponent's card effects. When this card declares an attack: Halve your opponent's LP. When this card destroys a monster by battle: You can activate this effect; this card can make a second attack during this Battle Phase. If you take effect damage: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the damage you took.

Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord

Level 10 / Dark / Fiend

3000 attack / 0 defense

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned ( from your hand ) by revealing 3 other "Cubic" cards in your hand with different names, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Unaffected by other monsters' activated effects, whose original ATK is 3000 or less. When this attacking card destroys a monster by battle: You can activate this effect; this card can make a second attack during this Battle Phase. During your End Phase: Each player takes 3000 damage. You can only use this effect of "Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord" once per turn.

Recurring Nightmare

Spell - Normal

Target 2 DARK monsters with 0 DEF in your GY; add those targets to your hand.

A Hero Lives

Spell - Normal

If you control no face-up monsters: Pay half your LP; Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Elemental HERO" monster from your deck.

Elemental HERO Prisma

Level 4 / Light / Warrior

1700 attack / 1100 defense

Once per turn: You can reveal 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, then send 1 of the Fusion Materials whose name is specifically listed on that card from your Deck to the graveyard; this card's name becomes the sent monster's until the End Phase.

King of the Swamp

Level 3 / Water / Aqua

500 attack / 1100 defense

This card can be used as a substitute for any 1 Fusion Material whose name is specifically listed on the Fusion Monster Card, but the other Fusion Material(s) must be correct. You can discard this card to the graveyard: add 1 "Polymerization" from your Deck to your hand.

Fusion Recycling Plant

Spell - Field

Once per turn: You can discard 1 card; add 1 "Polymerization" from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. Once per turn, during the End Phase: you can target 1 monster in your Graveyard that was used as a Fusion Material for a Fusion Summon this turn; add it to your hand.

Duza the Meteor Cubic Vessel

Level 4 / Light / Machine

1600 attack / 1600 defense

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Cubic" card from your Deck to the Graveyard. once per turn, during either player's turn, if a monster was sent to your graveyard this turn while this card was face-up on the field: You can make this card gain 200 ATK for each monster with a different name in your Graveyard, until the end of this turn.

Foolish Burial Goods

Spell - Normal

Send 1 Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to the Graveyard. You can only activate 1 "Foolish Burial Goods" per turn.

Cubic Karma

Spell - Continuous

When this card is activated: You can target 1 "Cubic" monster you control, except "Vijam the Cubic Seed"; send any number of "Vijam the Cubic Seed" from your hand and/or Deck to the Graveyard, then that monster gains 800 ATK for each ( even it this card leaves the field ). During your opponent's turn, if "Vijam the Cubic Seed" is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Cubic" monster: Send this card to the Graveyard, and if you do, halve your opponent's LP. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 "Cubic" monster from your Deck to your hand.

4500 attack is nothing to sneeze at. Listing Crimson Nova specifically as a fusion material gives you access to fusion conscription, king of the swamp, and elemental hero prisma for searching out the materials. Recurring Nightmare allows you to add back 2 Crimson Novas from the graveyard, since he has 0 defense, and can make for good discard fodder for Fusion recycling plant, twin twisters, and other such cards that can help you gain advantage or set up your plays. The burn effect is pretty nice, especially since trickstars are doing pretty well right now. Halving your opponent's life whenever you attack is always good. Not be able to be targeted or destroyed by card effects is good against true dracos, since all of their effects target. Duza and foolish burial goods can dump cubic karma to the graveyard, which can be banished to search out Crimson Nova, all good ways to keep getting to either simply Crimson Nova or Crimson Nova Trinity.

It wouldn't be the most competitive, but could you build a more rogue / casual deck around Trinity? He seems kinda like a fun counter to the current meta.

i mean, with ring of destruction, you can jank your opponent to death, but while the effect is ungodly powerful, the summoning condition makes it not worth the effort. it's strong, and if you drop it, you've likely got game that turn, but in order to drop it, you need to invest a serious amount of cards in deck to it basic crimson nova is already good enough. if you drop this, and they have an answer, you've likely lost at minimum 4 cards. and if you're missing even 1 piece, you can't even drop this. that said, it's insanely strong, and if you want to try running it, then the reward, while overshadowed by much easier methods, is worth the effort. i can respect those who wish to bring out the hard bosses.

Thank you for posting a Cubic thread! You have my eternal respect. I main Cubics IRL, it's a deck that can do horrible things to opponents that don't give it the respect it's due. I've won the occasional local with them, gotten some Sneak Mats using them, and took them to one regional and YCS each; broke exactly even at both.

The deck isn't without its weaknesses though. Backrow, grave disruption and getting hit in the hand are all bad news.

The build you're referring to is Trinity Turbo which is a way to play the deck, but Trinity is overkill. One Crimson Nova is all you need for an OTK as it does 9000 on its own and far more with boosts from Wave and Karma. The extra degree of difficulty to get Trinity out hemorrhages consistency that even at its best isn't quite good enough, and if anything disrupts any step on the way to getting Trinity you're going to come up short. Sure you'll win even harder if you get Trinity out, but unfortunately there's no extra wins awarded for emptying your opponent's LP multiple times over. Ideally, you'll be able to still play the game if you run into an Ash.

More pure builds have seen the most success at a competitive level. Pot of Desires and Foolish Burial Goods are great for the deck and worth running in threes. The deck was especially good when Gofu was at 3, which comboed with Duza for a loop involving Unification of the Cubic Lords for a Linked up Firewall Dragon that could retrieve a Cubic in the GY to the hand and facilitate the Summoning of a Crimson Nova. Duza in general is really good for Linking, and Scapegoat is a good partner in crime for it in lieu of Gofu. Now that Gofu's out of the picture an Allure engine doesn't get as much value so you're better off just running what hand traps you can.

Good luck with the deck if you choose to run it! It's the most fun I've ever had with Yugioh.

Ahhh I see. kinda a "Win More" card? I can definitely see it, with a deck based around crimson nova fusion, rather than crimson nova himself

I've always been iffy on pot of desires. I know it's a good card ( im not one of those people who say it's a neg 9 ), but I don't like taking the risks behind banishing 10 to draw 2. I much prefer the single upstart

Foolish burial goods is definitely a good card, I can tell from experience as I enjoy playing fluffals casually, toy vendor turns foolish burial goods into a rota for the archetype, and the same definitely applies with karma

I've always found cubics a fun beatdown deck, much like ancient gears, but on a more simpler scale. The OTK playstyle is always a fun departure from the control / lockdown way of yugioh.
